Darrell, this series is really setting the bar high for your channel. Your content has been top notch, informative, and entertaining. Keep it coming and keep on pushing the envelope.
Cesar Agreed, way to empower guitarists in knowing their instruments and being unafraid to work on them!
You know that painter guy on PBS that painted scenery on canvas ? This is the guitar version 😆 Darrell brougham
@@auntjenifer7774 'Oh My Guitar' OMG ! You Are So Correct! Great Awareness! Yeah He' s Extremely Cool! 👍🎸☺🎼
8:00 frontwards?
I second this
I hope someday you build a guitar from scratch. Like, pick the tree from the Canadian wilderness, cut it down, and make a 6 hour video of the whole build. I’d watch that with beer and popcorn.
lol even making the metal parts
...in real time even.
Rolo Tomasie don’t forget the back bacon eh?
Japhet Anciado extract the iron first make the steel too
Those videos of the wood drying and seasoning are going to be boring.
DIY one off builders are well advised to use old wood, architectural salvage or old solid wood furniture from the salvation army is good. That way it's really well seasoned. Old pianos and organs can also be good, church pews and lecterns too, they give that real holy tone....seriously, any old wood besides white pine or oak is worth trying.
Just a little tip for future builds. When making new holes for screws through a finish, run the drill bit in reverse. This causes an easy and slow cut because the bit will act more like a reamer and the blades will be pushing away and this will keep the blades from grabbing the finish and pulling up causing chipping. Once into the wood set drill for normal cutting/drilling direction. Works also for opening holes for tuners and/or tuner bushings with the exception of not setting drill to cut at any time. Just using bit as a reamer. Harbor freight sells a tapered reamer for about $4 and does a decent job. Congrats and nice build !
Thanks for that tip!
Stralecaster
You have the best vids lol
Could be also a Strelocaster
Strelecaster

Tetocaster!
Soooo pumped to watch this! Just looked at your Instagram post.

Since, you like weird and interesting guitars...you need to check out the B-Bender guitar. Its a Chapman ML3 guitar that's been converted into a slide-like guitar. You can search and see it on UA-cam.
Follow along as a new guitar is born!! This one is something special.
Don't forget to vote in the video poll for your favorite control knobs - I'll install the ones with most votes :)
i like what you do alot man i love you 😁
Strat Knoobs 😍
Those trippy wooden knobs looked deadly! I don't know if I'm in the right place to vote! LoL!
I voted for the Strat knobs, but they are losing badly...
That's a tough poll. I'm torn between the Chrome tele and the zebrawood. the strat knobs just look out of place for that build. The chome is good for color balance across the look of the guitar but the Zebrawood has this uniformity to the appearance that makes it pop. it's a beautiful guitar though. and that "tele" mode has a nice sound to it.
A wooden switch tip to match the wooden knobs would be boss
JT91 or chrome if the consensus is Tele knobs. Black plastic has no place on that beauty, in my purely subjective opinion.
Aaron Hall I think he means actual wood on the tip of the toggle switch alone.
Nice touch.
I liked the tele knobs a lot. The zebrawood is a great choice, but the grain doesn’t really match the body wood. I imagine that finding something like that is either very expensive or not available. Same thing with the pickups. I should explain that I’m somewhat confused compulsive about matching things. I make no apologies!:). The tele knobs would have set off the other chrome touches on the finished product.
Yeah given his choices on knobs.
The wood knobs are classy and really speak to the quality that is Warmoth. You must have at least a grand just in parts. Beautiful sounding instrument. Well done
I'll echo some of the other comments, here: You are really great at what you do, DB. Low key, delivering an upbeat guitar love-fest. From the build to the chops. For what it's worth, I've always held Canadians in high regard, but you're definitely moving the needle on my appreciation meter.
_- Are you playing a Stratocaster or a Telecaster?_
*+ Yesn't*
I swear, that is the best guitar I have ever come across. Looks fabulous, sounds world class, and I imagine that it plays like a dream. As a kid, back in 69/70 I had no money, so I made a "guitar". Sounded like it had wooden strings... The best it ever sounded was crackling on a bonfire... Please keep the good work coming. Can't wait for the "tones", so that's where I'm headed right now...
Are we going to be getting a braun guitars company soon?! :)
Yessss!!!! Do it!
Please make this happen
For the love of god, please let this come into existence. Literally every one of his builds is a masterpiece, with almost perfect specs. And they just tend to look beautiful naturally.
I've fallen in love with each one of his builds, especially his signature guitar (not built by him) but still such a piece of art that one is and perfectly spec'd out too!
I gotta say this is a great reward after a 6 and a half hour homework grind
Honestly it’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever heard in my life
The classic strat knobs have my heart
Carrying my tablet in the kitchen making a coffee . ...almost dropped my coffee when you started to play . ...that thing sounds incredible . ...fantastic build my friend .
Strat knobs!! Really beautiful.
Strat knobs look best to me, but I'm a numbers guy.
Black saddles on chrome looks sick
My first "tele style" guitar had 3 Strat single coil pups and a 5 way sw. Everybody loved it. It was sold 3 days after it was completed. I built 2 more after that, and they both sold fast. The coolest one was made on a one pc Cedar body. Best tone I ever heard.
This one has some advanced magic in it. One of the nicest guitars I have seen, and the sound is perfect!
Oh my! I can’t wait to hear more from this guitar! She is one of the most beautiful and sweet sounding guitars I ever seen/heard. You outdid yourself this time! Bravo!
Thanks so much!
This is my ideal guitar setup. You're always so creative with your guitar innovations, thanks Darrell!
Darrel, I've been watching several of your videos. Always with great attention and interest. The first time I watched I felt very impressed whith the way you explain it, and your clean and easy english ... besides, you teach several things in order to encourage people to enjoy the guitar! Congrats !!!! Keep on rockin' !!!
Greetings from southern Brazil!
The guitar turned out fantasically, looks and sounds great.
Beautiful! I was a little skeptical after adding the parts up to almost$1500 US but you get exactly what you want and the satisfaction of building your own Strat so well worth it if you have the cash.
I built two of these hybrid guitars six years ago. I got the idea from my guitar hero Jesse Johnson who had Teles like this in the mid 80’s. Now Fender is producing them. I like yours. Custom switching that suits your needs. Looks good as well.
I’ve been blown away by this channel. I don’t even play guitar very much! Darrell has an enthusiasm for his craft & a style of presentation that I’ve gravitated towards since I started to check out guitars on UA-cam. His style is represented in the choices he makes in presenting what he does to his audience. It even is reflected in the instrumental choices he makes for the videos. Braun is not the best guitar player I’ve ever seen on UA-cam, but he certainly the one with the best taste in the instrumentals that are at the core of his videos. He never lets you forget that building a guitar is done in service of its eventual player, but that building a guitar is an art form onto itself. I’ve found that watching. Darrell Build a guitar is one of the most relaxing things I’ve found on UA-cam. That probably speaks more to my weirdness than his presentation, but it’s a useful function for these videos to serve. I’m a bass player, and I’d like to see Darrell tackle a build of a cross-brand bass. Hopefully that will eventually come to pass. I’m pretty much hooked. I hope that we are able to watch Darrel do his thing for years to come. I hope that UA-cam realizes that he’s a treasure.
That humbucker sounds amazing. Also really digging the headstock shape. I normally don't like the tele because of the headstock shape it has, but this one actually looks good with that body style.
Absolutely loved it. I've been waiting for the video.
Your understanding of how guitars work is very inspiring.
Another phenomenal build. I've really learned a lot from your build videos as there's so little info out there on exactly how and why each part works, especially when it all comes together. You have a pretty unique instrument each time and that's worth more than anything else, since you built it yourself. Beautiful wood too, sits out really well with the black. Thanks again!
So every sound that came out of this build was amazing! There isn’t a single thing about this build that isn’t amazing.
Thanks for the kind words Lewis!!
Darrell Braun Guitar just giving you some honest feedback. Also, we live in a world where people are quick to criticize and not very quick to encourage. Thought I would go against the grain :).
Oh, also, there are few times in the video where you look like a kid on Christmas Day and you just got a present that you have been longing for. Pretty awesome.
Wow I’m gassing hard. My number one is a warmoth parts strat. They make outstanding products
I love this guitar! Beautiful wood used it just looks stunning, and sounds so sweet too. You did yourself proud with this one!
That guitar is absolutely gorgeous!!! Amazing job on the build. That neck alone is one of the best looking necks I have ever seen. I love it!!!!
I was waiting for this 😍😍😍😍 wow super unique 🔥🔥🎸🎸
Stunning, I think black Strat knobs would look good too !
By far the best all around sound I've heard!
I love this hybrid. Concept is cool and parts (finish and the like) are great!. Nice work!
Really cool build! Sounds really good too! Stick with the wood knobs they really tie the look of the guitar together.
Dude… I would definitely buy one of You're custom build guitars … great job!
Love the colors of the parts and the knobs.
That guitar is a real beauty! Awesome work.
Hi I just started to play guitar and that’s really cool!
Okay. I don't Jones for a guitar very often. But this one has caused stirrings in my loins. I may be in danger here.
this guitar is sick. it must have cost at least $1200 for the parts alone.
Danger Zone!.
You make guitar building look easy. It sounds great. Thank you for posting.
Wow is all I can say! This is probably my favorite guitar you've made. I am not a Tele fan, but I really like this guitar. The beautiful top, neck and wood bobbin pickups are just stunning. It sounds as good as it looks and I can't wait to hear a proper review of the tones with your usual setup. Your content is absolutely top notch and I look forward to every video you make. God bless bro!
New favorite channel , can’t wait for the tones !!!
finally. :) this build is awesome man. keep it up. cheers
Dream guitar!! Love the different woods used, the neck is beautiful and those zebrawood knobs are perfect 👌🏼
Been waiting for this one, smiled when I saw it and clicked immediately, great work Darrell 😁
Tele knobs look the toughest out of the 3. Just saying.
Great build, but my best advice would be to keep your switch and pickup configuration the standard, but install a Gilmour mod which is a small switch that independently activates the neck pickup so you can run the neck and bridge or all 3 if you want. It’s a cheap mod and I do it on my strat copies and any that I can hotrod for my friends
i just put it on a push push switch on the neck tone pot. much better than adding a separate switch.
rohadt Anyad Was going to say that exact same thing! Sounds good as it is, but with the Gilmour mod you keep ALL the 'standard' options PLUS you can get neck n bridge or even all 3 at the same time. I always do it to Strat style git boxes and the push/pull pot makes it totally invisible and reversible.
akc5150 akc, a push pull pot to me is horrible. especially with strat style knobs, pulling up is a chore. a push push knob is much better. you just tap it. i don't know why everyone installs push pull, it makes no sense to me.
rohadt Anyad I agree..... to a certain extent. With a push/pull at least you have an instant visual cue as to where you are set... With push/push it's easier to get it wrong from time to time......Unless there are push/push pots that pop up?
i guess you have never used a push push. they give the same visual clue as the push pull. they all pop up.
Gorgeous! Congratulations on an outstanding build/episode...
I always admire your builds. But when you show all the steps with the work its the best.
From what I hear this sounds much better than any standard guitar.
That build really shines. Glassy chimes, very transparent. What an instrument.
I love it.
Thanks so much CB!
I was so set on an HSS Strat or HS Tele for my next guitar until I saw this video.... Now I'm going back to the idea of a partscaster...
This time you were not hoping that we were having a great day today..? 😃 Haha.. anyway, been waiting for this video.. Awesome quality... Waiting for the next sound review..❤️😃
Oops! 😁😁😁
That guitar is a piece of Art and it is very beautiful. SOUNDS AWESOME !!!
Wanted to thank you for your Strat/Tele build you did in UA-cam. Not only is it one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, you showing the equipment to build us such an encouragement. Soldering is not my strong suit, so learning of wiring set ups that are solderless makes the world of difference to folks like me. I assume the writing diagram of what plugs where is user friendly by looks of it. If love to see a video of how you do complete setups someday. Thank you again. I simply LOVE your guitar & your videos as well. From a super fan in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
i like the black knobs. the wooden seems to cheapen the look, but it is one bueatiful guitar.
One of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen! Do you ever do giveaways? 😂😂😂
What a beautiful build. Wonderful tone. Excellent!
Absolutely beautiful. Its been a pleasure to follow this build.
Thanks Doug!
Next, tele pickups in a strat body please
I agree. The current build here is awesome looking and sounding. But would like to see the reverse, tele pickups and guard on strat body, which of Fender's parallel universe series interests me most.
May as well put in a request for the 'other' configuration that I'm currently nutting out :D - Jazzmaster pickups in a Strat body, please. I'm trying it with a Strat body+pickguard cut for humbuckers at neck+bridge... but will cut custom pickguard eventually as Jazzmaster pup at neck overlaps edge of pickguard (but is inside body Ok with some dremmelling).
I did a squier with a super hot mustang S pickup in the neck, a Tele lipstick pickup in the middle and a pretty hot strat S pickup in the bridge. Changed a pot and wired it to tone both the neck and bridge with the original small pot going to the lipstick tone. Sounds awesome with the 5-way in the 2 and 4 position.
Yes! I want a strat body with tele pickups, tele neck and hardtail of course. The strat body fits me much better than the tele, but it should be made of basswood, or semi-hollow for lightness. A Teltocaster.
I want that guitar!!! With strat knobs
Sounds lovely too
Hands down,my fave build.
Nice I was just thinking about the last video, then bam! Was about to shield my latest Tele build with copper foil, but I like the paint idea. Where did you get your paint?
I was thinking the same as it too ages to put copper shielding in my strat.
Guitar fetish carries the paint. Probably do 4-5 bodies per bottle.
Hi Landon!
I got mine at guitar fetish. I used it on my superstrat too and it's been great :)
@@DarrellBraunGuitar thanks I'll check out their site. I've done the copper foil many times and it's a pain.
Google guitar shielding paint. Right off Stewmac sells it in large cans for $70USD. You can pick up smaller containers for around $12USD.
I would love to see the parts list, vendors, and prices. If you can put all these premiere parts together for less than a production Fender, I would be amazed, and a convert.
I added it up from the vendor websites after the parts list video he made of this guitar last week
Body $445
Neck $257
pickups $245
trem $180
tuners 140
electrics $99
sub total $1366 US without pick guard, knobs, studs, neck plate so add about another $100 unless i missed something big.

Who cares how much it cost when it looks ten times better than a fender
Awesome job on that guitar. Sounds amazing.
Great tone and looks awesome
It’s gotta be the strat knobs
It’s odd that I’m such a fan of simple black knobs. Those wood ones are your obvious choice though :-) and I think most people would agree. Awesome build as always my brother. I’m gonna save a wad of cash, sent it to you and let you make something awesome like this for me, I swear. Every build is cooler than the last.
Thanks for being detailed Darrell. I'm building my first kit and trying to get ideas on how to stain and then full build.
This is seriously amazing! It looks and sounds great.
Strat knobs!
Hi i have start playing guitar 🎸 just one week ago
Keep it up! 👍
Never give up! Especially not when your fingers hurt and hurt more (but learn the right technique right from the start!). Just keep going because the first year is the toughest. The time following will only bring you satisfaction you've never known. To my humble opinion a guitar is one of the few instruments that can make your heart speak every language possible. The only thing a guitar wants from you to be loyal is that you practice over and over again. If you know how loyal a dog can be, you know what I mean.
amarjit kaur yeah don't give up at any point
Gorgeous looking Nashville Tele, Darrell. Love the wooden pickup bobbins and knobs, which really accentuate the beautiful woods of the body and neck.
Awesome looking guitar - BEAUTIFULLY PUT TOGETHER - NICE!!
"A little bit cheaper" but still cost around $1700 :(
Gorgeous sound
That was great Darrell... it looks freakin AWESOME... Looking forward to hearing it!
Thanks Mark!
Darrell that is the nicest guitar I have seen in a long time and it sounds great great job
Awesome built man,wonderful tone.
Oh Darrel this channel is getting even better! I am now full of will to make from zero to 10 a custoer tele to me! Cheers man and keep going!
One of the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen !!!
That guitar is absolutely gorgeous!
Guitar sounds Amazing, love it
It sounds and looks stellar!
Amazing Job. It looks awesome and sounds great. You surely have one of the best guitar channels on UA-cam. Keep it up !! Cheers from Brazil !!
Thanks so much!
the thrid knobs looks great!!
Both pickups together really sounds "strat-like". Middle position has a great tone two. Love this guitar. Nice job.
Strat pickups in this Tele body and custom woods seems like a super combination. Not too bright, but it still has excellent definition. Great job!
Killer sound Darrel! keep up the quality content man love your channel and playing!
Thanks EC!
Always wanted to do that to my old broadcaster but my tech called me crazy and wouldn’t touch it. I will have it done after seeing this. Love this combination.
Awesome work.
Incredible tones! Nice job putting it all together Darrell!
Thanks so much!
Best build yet- best colors!! Epic Darrell! love it
Thanks so much Andy!
That is beautiful!
Sounds awesome!
