Misa Amane should actually be like in the movie....she kills people and she said that she would kill Kira of he tried to hurt her, however, she transformed into a dumb picky childrish character from her second appearance till the last episode. Misa Amane was created to be sociopath, however, Japan's sexism can't accept the fact that 1) Women can be as great as a man 2) Sociopath and psychopath can be female. The wrong part is Light being so recessive. Actually, the good choice would be an epic battle between Misa, Light and L (or Misa, Light, Mikami, Near and Mello) .
really because the creator of death note said when he came up with the idea for misa he pictured her as a gothic lolita who would practily start the kira religion. Misa is better in the anime because Light always has this cheerleader next to him feeding his ego and can instantly give him the name of any rival. So yeah anime Misa much better than the try hard "smoking while cheerleading because I'm that cool" edgelord that is Mia
they could of made her more of a psycho if they wanted...i mean have u ever seen an anime called future diary.....GIRL is INSANE!...like dark psycho type....in that anime the main male character is the weak one. THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERSSSSSSSS. 👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹✈️✈️✈️ From what I seen in the Netflix trailer cuz tbh I don't really want to watch the Netflix version🗑️. But in the Netflix trailer Ryuk is the one encouraging light to use the notebook for good, which I'm guessing that later on influence light to become kita and to protect the world from bad people and stuff. WHEN in reality light is the one that decides that he is going to become God of this world he's going to judge people. Ryuk never encouraged him to kill people for justice . In multiple scenes throughout the anime we basically see that ryuk isn't going to help him (they even have a conversation about). The only times that you basically helped light was when they were hidden cameras but it was because he wanted to eat apples 💀✋ and when when the FBI was following night but that was literally because we felt like the FBI was following him and he didn't like that.
L in the anime/manga: calm, composed, cunning, intelligent and many more amazing qualities. L in the adaptation: angry as hell and also has anxiety issues.
I was more bothered by the fact that L was talking to crowds in real life instead of through a screen. It completely erases the fact that he's a socially awkward character

The sad part is that the actor of L actually watched/read Death Note and got familiar with L’s character. When he got the script he was disappointed but played the character they gave him
That is true except about near the middle L changed from the anime. Also Light didn't die, L didn't die, Light's father didn't die, and Misa died in the live action.
well if he has never lost because of how smart he is then the first time something goes wrong then i am pretty sure his emotions and the lack of sleep will start to cloud his mind.
Nah, L is like Sherlock in that way. He can push his emotions to the back and act purely on logic and his plans. In a book by the original author of death note, L writes his own name into the death note (an alternate story, basically) and uses the remaining time to solve a crime. You would think if anything would freak one out it would be knowing that you only have exactly a month left to live, but he stays calm and collected even then.
April White After two days of no sleep my arm went all trigun on me. That maybe but here we are talking about this version not the manga, anime, or even the Japan live action (which I thought was worse than this one). Here he feels way more realistic you can be Bruce Wayne or Sherlock Holmes but that means jack all when you are sleep deprived. Light is the first person to make him look like a fool and get his handler / "family" killed, on top of sleep deprivation he would be come a bit more erratic and not think clearly.
Misa: I can't imagine a world without Light. L: Yes, it would be dark. The director of this garbage: _When it's dark, you can always count on Light Turner_
They turned Light into a victim of manipulation instead of being the cunning one calling the shots. They took out the evolution of Light. L didn't use guns! He used his mind! One of the great things about Death Note was the psychological game of cat and mouse with life and death in the balance. They turned Light using Misa as a pawn into a teen romance and instead she was using him. I could go on forever. Ryuk's looks and voice was the best part.
Me: You like Death Note? friend: Yeah, it was pretty good Me: did you watch the show or read the manga? friend: I watched the live action movie Me: That's not Death Note, it's a joke XD
Orpheus 010 I don't necessarily mean that they have to recreate the exact same scene as the anime. Maybe they can show a scene where criminals are dying and light is eating a bag of potato chips on the background.
I don't care that L is black. I care that L went out in public. I don't care that Light is white. I care that they made him second guess himself and that he was an idiot. I don't care that Misa was a brunette I care that they took away all of her innocence and just made her edgy.
Anybody agreed, I honestly felt like the actor they chose for L was perfect personality wise, potentially that is. Seems like someone told him to reach as hard as the rest of the movie did though.
Daniel Isaias Agreed. That was my main frustration, because it destroys much of the reason for protecting the Death Note. Without that rule, it looks like an angsty teenage journal just recording how people died.
Not even. It's more like they split light the from the manga/anime into 2 characters for the movie. Which ended up being my biggest problem. Light in the manga initially believes that he really is doing the right thing. Then when L is introduced to challenge him and obstacles appear he very quickly is revealed to be sociopathic. Believing that anyone getting in the way of his new world is automatically guilty for defying him. He develops a true God complex. In the movie, light REALLY doesn't want to hurt anyone who isn't an evil person while misa/Mia almost immediately wants to just wipe out anyone who thinks twice about Kira.
Also, WHY THE FUCK WOULD THEY CHANGE THE NAMES???!!!!!! MIA????? LIGHT FUCKING TURNER????? HE SOUNDS LIKE HE SHOULD BE IN A FUCKING NICKELODEON TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!! WHAT?????? @@alexusdickinson2093 You missed the point... It isn't exactly about excluding stuffs, they just altered the whole setting and characters and that's what makes it bad. Though yeah, if you've watched the movie before the anime or before reading the manga you might actually consider it to be good (except some really weird ways of dying and the weird acting). But for those who've read the manga or watched the anime it's just... a mistake, and it's very hard to imagine those characters being different than the original characters especially when it's all mentioned who they are.
@@alexusdickinson2093 I Agree and Disagree with your opinion, "The death was good" well kinda, I guess if you like graphic scenes executed in a comical fashion then I get where you're coming from. However the entire point of Kira was that he is a brilliant and meticulous killer with strategies and tricks able to fool *L* Himself. So an ultra gore messy genocide is the opposite of that. If they want to change the race of the characters That's on them, personally I don't mind. But they also change the character personalities. Like I said before. Netflix's Kira is this messy boy that can't do shit with Strategy and just trying to get laid, practically the opposite of original Kira. Netflix's Misa is this psychotic manipulative killer that uses the name of Love to kill. Meanwhile the original Misa is this lovable and submissive idol that kills for love. And if you rewatch the entire movie, they change the entire core theme as well. Because now Kira doesn't kill for his own Justice, but for Misa, and Misa kills fucking everyone practically. The original Death Note's message was that it's never clear who is right and wrong. We see Kira's descend into madness as he stands with his own justice becoming a frantic killer. But on the other hand, his frantic killing actually reduce the entire crime rate by a staggering 70% and all it took was just a couple of dudes and few notebooks for 6 years...
he lucked out his ass. and she wasnt kira-like. she was power hungry. light was a genius who intellectually stood above all, was driven and it got him thinking he was a god.
I don't know why the fuck L is black. He had long emo hair and pale skin with black eyes due to lack of sleep. How tf they can show this to a black guy, im not trying to bring race but it sucked.
+@@microchip9982 I don't know. Both sides have their ups and downs. American storytelling can be flawed, but so can Japanese storytelling. Neither side is better. In the end, it's all based on perception, and opinion.
@@Keniz99 Sorry but "L is black" controversy is absolute nonsense. Same for "Light is white" (funny that it was not a problem for you, Light being Japanese in the first place). However, the personalities of the character did not fit. L can black and Light white, it doesn't matter if the personality of the character is respected. And that's why the movie sucks.
Salvinius Augustus Oh STFU already not everything is about personality. People want Eye Candy, and actually believe it's that character. You're not fooling anybody
I remember watching this after everyone started crapping on it because I wanted to see if it was really as bad as people made it out to be. It was, if anything, even worse.
If they are gonna do that many changes to the characters and the premise, then they should just change to names completely and make the movie about 2 friends who found the book after Light died.
Doctor Doom, everyone remembers Kira as Light, they should have changed the whole name and have a different nickname, no Kira, but the concept of the death note, still the same
What gets me upset is that they had the ENTIRE script HANDED to them. Everything was perfect and ready, all they had to do was fine some lookalike characters and summarize. But noOoOooOoOo they just had to change everything and make it an entire shit show.
True they should generally have kept to the Japanese movie just with American actors and language, sure a few changes are acceptable, but most important is for the characters to remain in character. They failed at that and so should never have been allowed to make that movie
Despite the change they made it in the original live action of death note....it was the most wonderful ending I ever watched..... Especially L's death....it was so fucking epic
April's Apricots honestly and if length was a problem a lot of moments from the anime could've been taken out while keeping the integrity of the show. If it isn't broke don't fix it.
7:35 In the anime you can control someone for up to 23 days. The 6 minutes 40 seconds is the time you have to write the details of someone’s death after writing their name.
I am so lost, where is potato chip scene, L's compulsive eating habits, Misa's modeling career and innocence, funny, savage and cute L, calm and cool light, Light's position as one of the top students in *Japan* , deceiving personality, Light's mother and sister, funny Ryuk, tearful ending. They could have done better. I was trying to convince my dad that anime wasn't a bad thing, but it cursed so much and the plot was soooo SHITTY that I turned it off.
Woah woah woah, we all know that Willem Dafoe is the best choice for live action Ryuk. Anything wrong with Ryuk in the movie is just completely on the writers.
Buddhi Dev L was the worst error. L in the movie looked like my friend Daniel. L supposed to have emo's reaction and not supposed to be nervous. L in the movie was weird and nervous
I bet the the person who made this movie only watched the first episode of Death Note and was like "oh this should be a movie, what a great idea!!" And then proceed to change everyone single character and everything we loved about the them. Also a lot of characters are also missing in this movie
So fucking What? The Japanese love action death note has the potato chip scene. This American version didn't need it cuz the circumstances are totally different. Light was a rich kid who coukd afford to blow who knows how.much on a tiny portable tv to hide in a bag of chips while pretending to do his homework while being spied on. Light turner isn't a rich kid and besides the potato chip scene may be clever and cool, in the anime it also showcases the depths of light's psychopathic narcissism in a very over the top manner with his voiceovers. This film has different aesthetics and different vision and different goals in mind.
My favourite shows ever are death note, fullmetal alchemist and the last airbender. Netflix ruined two of them and in 2020 there's gonna be an airbender live action series. Netflix is a master at destroying my shows.
>be a large movie production company >make a shitty teenage angst appellative movie >put on a massive renowned anime title >call it an "adaptation" >watch your company's fanboys defend it as the "adaptation" that it is >profit >... >or not good job Netflix, you made a MASSIVE EXAMPLE... on how NOT TO DO an adaptation.

That is the perfect description of movie L and I'm dying now 😂
well if he has never lost because of how smart he is then the first time something goes wrong then i am pretty sure his emotions and the lack of sleep will start to cloud his mind.

Yes, so once again I have gained yet another friend....uh...yay....yeah friends...

I cared that nobody could see Ryuk after touching the death note. That was the #1 that annoyed me
Anybody agreed, I honestly felt like the actor they chose for L was perfect personality wise, potentially that is. Seems like someone told him to reach as hard as the rest of the movie did though.
Sadly L in the second half was... a bad transition to end up a detective... You can't fuck that up!
Daniel Isaias Agreed. That was my main frustration, because it destroys much of the reason for protecting the Death Note. Without that rule, it looks like an angsty teenage journal just recording how people died.
Anybody L is Black....that movie Weird.....
Basically they switched Light's and Misa's character
Then they nailed Misa/Mia!
*writes Dimitri & pals's name on the Death Note while reciting "Delete"*
Which means that Mia is similar to Mikami (the Ultimate Prosecutor)

But for those who've read the manga or watched the anime it's just... a mistake, and it's very hard to imagine those characters being different than the original characters especially when it's all mentioned who they are.
@@alexusdickinson2093 I Agree and Disagree with your opinion,
"The death was good" well kinda, I guess if you like graphic scenes executed in a comical fashion then I get where you're coming from.

My favourite shows ever are death note, fullmetal alchemist and the last airbender. Netflix ruined two of them and in 2020 there's gonna be an airbender live action series. Netflix is a master at destroying my shows.
Kssssksksskskks Loooool
Light Yagami: cool, composed, meticulous, *fearless*
Light Turner: **bitchboi screams**
The only good thing about the film was indeed casting William Dafoe to voice dub/motion capture Ryuk. He had the right tone and devil voice.
yep the only good thing
Dafoe is the only thing that’s good about this movie lmao
Ikr
He's basically playing the Green Goblin again, but wearing a different costume
They completely ruined each and everyone of the characters
Daysi Sampson except for ryuk who William dafoe did perfect
Guts the real Black swordsman with a mustache that's true I actually got chills when he appeared but then the movie...eww
I agree. William Dafoe did a good job with Ryuk
Daysi Sampson but Mia Sutton is better than Misa Amane.
Tatsuya Shiba you must be joking
Death Note Fandom: This sucks more than anything that has sucked before 🙄
Dragon Ball, Last Airbender, Attack On Titan fandom: *First time?* 😗
If You Could Include Books Percy Jackson WAS the Most Ruined Book By a Movie Of All Time
Avatar is not exactly an anime, but yes.
@@robmurray9522 he didnt mention avatar
@@just888why He’s referring to Last Airbender.
Forget about Pokemons
i’m honestly convinced that the developers of this script were like “how bad can we fuck up this movie”
>be a large movie production company
>make a shitty teenage angst appellative movie
>put on a massive renowned anime title
>call it an "adaptation"
>watch your company's fanboys defend it as the "adaptation" that it is
>profit
>...
>or not
good job Netflix, you made a MASSIVE EXAMPLE... on how NOT TO DO an adaptation.
Matheus Arruda You were spot on 😂😂😂
Matheus Arruda
Netflix didn't make this movie though. They just produced it
Which is even worse because they had to control its quality as the mega producer that they are.
You mean only 10 things?
*_Don't you mean everything about the whole movie?_*
Film was great
No u.
Except for Ryuk’s voice and design. Still a crappy movie.
I still like the live action movie and not the netflix adaptation..that is shit..
@@tommyh1639 Tbh, the film sucked. All the characters were stupid and too emotional but if you liked it then that's ok.
Number 1; no potato chip.
MelloW ikr lmao
I know right lol
God that was such a smart move on Light
Ikr
hahahaahaha
