  • Unlike any other part we've made, the Silent Captured Spring has really changed our business. So run them now, and so many people have questions. In this video, we cover the full installation and reconfiguration of the SCS. If this is your new buffer system, this is everything you'll need.

    A word of caution. They’re expensive, because once you get your first one set up perfectly, you’ll love it, then you’ll buy one for all your rifles and won’t ever shoot a rifle without one. I have 3 now and so does my son. Yeah, they’re awesome, beware.

    This is a great product - I now have four or five of them. The product by JPRifles works a lot better than some of the aftermarket products out there - I have a few of those from before I discovered JP Rifles SCS. It would be nice, if JPR would create a spread sheet that listed all of the configurations for all of the different components. For example there are a number of combinations that work for 5.56, 9mm, .308, etc... There are other factors at play such as high/low mass, suppressor, spring tension, tube length, etc. So for example, if I am running a suppressed, piston, standard mass, rifle length tube setup - I should have 2 steel, 1 tungsten, and the blue spring (hypothetical example). Or alternately if I have 1 tungsten + yellow spring - it equates to x lbs. 1 tungsten + 1 steel + blue spring = y lbs. 3 tungsten .... etc. Secondly, JPR provided a number of different combinations but I didn't know what I would go for with my .45, my 10mm, my .243, and hopefully very soon, my 30-06. Either way - JPR thank you for the product. Keep in mind, I understand that I can experiment and learn on my own, but there will always be that lil bit o doubt - regardless of how well it works.

    I bought the SCS for my AR-15 with a rifle length gas system, so I bought one with the steel weights. I put a Precsion Armament AFAB (chambered brake) on my barrel and decided to run 75 gr Hornadys through it... the buffer kept bottoming out no matter what spring I used. I ended up buying a couple of the tungsten weights, and I'm hoping the spring kit comes to life after this. I suspect it will. When I shot it with a traditional H3 buffer, it mitigated it, but the SCS still seems smoother.

    Well,.. that video just made the decision for me. Gotta have it!
    Pew View guy showed how this, when set just right for your, makes it shoot perfectly level and that makes follow up shots a breeze!
    Of course, not all by itself but,.. it is the main component in setting your rifle up as a very level shooter! Cost be damn. 🤣👍

    You mentioned what to do if you have too little preload, but what if I have too much preload. I am running the 9mm pcc with the scs and it is a raving bear to disassemble.

    How about a video with some standardized recommendations for the customized SCS? IE: 16” length, carbine gas system, 55 grain 223 use 2 tungsten weights, 1 steel weight and a green spring as a starting point??? I’ve been looking for this info, it’s impossible to find. Thanks!

    • @alphaomega9255
      @alphaomega9255 2 роки тому +2

      16in, carbine w/55gr mil spec Ammo unsuppressed needs a carbine or H buffer, suppressed uses an H2 or equal scs.

    • @alphaomega9255
      @alphaomega9255 2 роки тому +4

      Shorter the barrel or if suppressed needs heavy buffer weights. 16-18-20 in can get away with the most basic “carbine” if unsuppressed. 10.3-14.5 H2 or H3. Alternatively the A5 system is almost a .308 length buffer tube(ar10) with heavy or H2 buffer. best to look at the weight in find equal scs. As to springs you don’t need extra spring tension unless the buffers are not sufficient. Use standard spring for 16in

    I too have (2) H2 for each of my AR-10s & (2) H2 for each of my AR-15s to include (4) Buffer Retaining Pins. They are very nice and worth the cost in my opinion; I also have the SCS Alternate Spring Pack for both AR-10 & AR-15. My question is what configuration of either weights or springs do I need to make a H3 system? Ant ideas are greatly appreciated.

      I found an answer to my question' JP Enterprise provides configurations online. I replaced the steel weight with a tungsten weight to convert my H2 to H3. Works great.

    When test firing to see what spring/weights work best for a particular rifle, do you have to put loctite on the screw each time? Or can you get away with some test shoots without it?

    • @Breitling5150
      @Breitling5150 Рік тому

      IMO not really, but for real just do a few shots and then check it to make sure its not backing out. JP will probably say YES locktite every time, but I never noticed the screw backing out when throwing 5 or 10 rounds downrange.

    I had a Silent Captured Spring a while ago and it caused a significant failure running it with a retaining pin. An O-ring from the buffer got caught on the retaining pin while firing, locking up the rifle completely!!! It was extremely difficult to disassemble and correct. Don't run it with that pin. Just my suggestion.

    I used an ar-15 (223/556) and it leaves bruises on my shoulder where a 12 gauge doesn’t. Broke it down and it has one of these installed. Is it no setup correctly or is it most likely something else wrong like over gased?

    • @The_Black_Falchion
      @The_Black_Falchion 8 місяців тому

      If your AR-15 is leaving bruises on you that means you either have a medical condition or you need to go to the gym. I’ve shot belt fed machine guns from the shoulder and they haven’t left so much as a mark. If your AR was generating enough force to bruise you then it would not be cycling properly, since that would require much more force than the system can take.
