    If you keep breaking parts like this, you should consider to tone down over torquing.
    Your customer is paying for new parts. If you break the parts installing You should replace the part at your cost. Not leaving the broken part in the unit and sell as new!
    Kind of sketchy service practice and you show it on you tube.

    Good job, but you really need to check the start windings with a megohmeter. Usually when a unit is blowing capacitors the insulation on motor windings are starting to fail.

      @@NickMoises04 A megohmeter operates similar to a regular ohmmeter. The megohmeter has the ability send much higher voltage to test resistance than a regular ohmmeter.

    That sounded like electrical noise on the motor as if something is loose in the windings causing the loud buzz. that might explain the hard life it's giving capacitors and contactors.

    when they're nosey like that, and having start problems, (burnt wire and bad start cap) its usually indicative of an overcharge, especially if you didn't do the install. I would recover and weigh the charge. While its out, change the drier and add a few ounces of oil if the charge weight is OK. wash the coils to get an accurate picture (pressures) for troubleshooting diagnostics. Sometimes a dirty coil will falsely raise the high side pressure, which in turn will raise the low side pressures to acceptable levels, and mask the problem.

    I think its best to break red. Cause if you break Y you turn on a t T-Stat and the fan comes on then you go out and get no 24 volt at condenser so you have to go back to the furnace. If you break red you check the T-Stat and get no fan so you can go straight to the furnace.

    Wonderful video. My rental home has a heat pump and I now understand how it works. In the attic is something...what is in the attic and is there a filter in the attic to change? Inside the house is a clean air return, with a filter. Just wondering how many filters are used when using a heat pump? Thank you.

    • @OGHVAC
      @OGHVAC 2 роки тому

      Only one filter is needed if there is only one return duct. Over filtering a system will impede air flow to the indoor unit. Heatpumps will have a unit indoors somewhere, and it's called an "airhandler."

I had a prob last week on a roof of a ac unit kinda. had only one leg of the contactor pulling 110 volts and nothing on the other leg..I seen new wiring with old whips on it the nut of the whip end didn't reach the bottom of the ac and a main wire was split some through the hole and kept popping the breaker..I was there for 2 hours lol...told them their problem and is having the electrical company who messed with it last to come redo the wiring

    and the best part about breaking the red wire when you install a float switch is whenever that float switch gets tripped it will automatically lead the technician into the right direction but if you break it with yellow then in the winter time when the heat stops working they will still have heat strips on a heat pump so me personally I like to break the red wire but my company likes to break the yellow wire

    just because ur pressures "look ok" doesnt mean that charge is good... there is a reason why its drawing high start/run amps... need to dig into it further instead of taking chance of capacitor popping 2 days later.
