I love how in the cartoon, Tidal Wave is only marginally taller than the other Decepticons, yet in the Armada video game, he's Fortress f*cking Maximus.
He's my favourite one too. I like his battlecarrier (Half battleship half aircraft carrier) mode better. Reminds me of one of those super ship bosses in the Naval Ops games named Musspelheim.

I recently just watched the show but actually he can powerlink with the rest of his armor to get gigantic. The only reason he was normal size was so he can powerlink with megatron

@@tetrafuse3096What you're describing is "Mass-Shifting Technology", which has been established since the 80s....it allows a Transformers to shift its size accordingly, in consideration to a planet's inhabitants (to properly blend in), or for its own race. This tech, however, consumes additional energy, compared to a Transformer that does not have Mass-Shifting technology.

Considering there’s also Legacy Armada Megatron, it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn’t combine, but for that to happen Tidal Wave would have to be at most Commander Class.
I've been thinking recently that Tidal Wave, at least when he was first introduced, was what Trypticon should've been. A humanoid behemoth that would go toe-to-toe with Metroplex, instead of a dinosaur. He even has the same color scheme minus the teal accents. Trypticon's cool and all, but it's just odd that the Autobots had a city that turned into a dude but the Decepticons didn't. And thematically it works too. Metroplex is a city because the Autobots want to build a peaceful existence. Tidal Wave is a warship because all the Decepticons know is conflict and destruction.
I'm surprised he hasn't been in more media, granted he's technically Shockwave (as evident by his Japanese name and the fact he's purple with yellow eyes) but still you don't that many boat Transformers let alone giant ones like Tidal Wave
He's hilariously small for a robot made from an aircraft carrier and two equally huge ships. The Armada game is the only time I've seen his size presented "realistically" (shame he's a pushover in his boss fight) And as a matter of personal taste I prefer his green Hasbro color scheme over the Takara purple, I feel it somehow suits the character more.
A pushover? Sure, i can see it being pretty easy after a couple times on recruit difficulty, but I'd say tidal wave can be one mean SOB the first time around, especially if you didn't use the glide wings to go back and collect the minicons in the previous levels.

He needs to pick a damn size. I really wish there had been a titan class.... or that they'd make one of him, especially if it was in his all-purple get-up, gives him a bit of a heralds of unicron-ey vibe. Like, you can picture sweeps taking off of him.

This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Tidal Wave. I’m still surprised that Tidal Wave was voiced by Doug Parker The Same Guy who voiced Terrorsaur in Transformers Beast Wars. Tidal Wave may not been The Smartest Decepticon but This Dude was a Power House.

I'd love to get a titan of this guy in legacy, but I don't think it's likely, and here's why. They've already revealed the newest titan for this current wave as the Nemesis to counterpart the Ark from WFC, and I don't think they'd release another expensive figure so soon. Also, if he is titan class, he wouldn't be able to realistically combine with the leader Megatron. So if Tidal Wave does come to legacy, I think he will be commander size

Why in armada did they refer to tidalwave as shockwave at the end of his full episode debute? I did like tidal wave and the idea that he could merge with megatron even.
In Japan, Tidal Wave was reffered to as Shockwave. Due to how the show was made, and rushed for production, the team often mixed up the Japanese names with the official US ones (amoung other issues).
As much as I love Armada, I’ve always hated the mis-matched, inconsistent scaling. At one point, characters like Tidal Wave are HUGE! And then like.. 2 scenes later they’re almost in scale with other characters who should be far smaller by comparison.
Tidal Wave annoyed me when I was younger, is he constantly mass shifting? Is a he a gestalt type combiner? Is he a city former? Is he leader class or voyage class? A missed opportunity for a new city former, a badly implemented opportunity for a gestalt that also combines with other Transformers.

G1 only got more serious in S3 and the movie...Armada has plenty going on too as did Energon eventually if you could last long enough and survive the boredom.
