Just for anyone that is having the same issue with not hearing the flutter after the GFB install . I had a boost leak, my aftermarket charge pipe was a loose fit. I replaced it with a bigger o ring and it’s all fixed .
I just got mine today, but i dont get a loud flutter sound, i hear it from the exhaust more than anything, my boost was fine, just dont understand how i dont get that loud sound
Bro so glad you got this part, I’ve been waiting for a good review because I’ve had the diverted valve since Christmas and haven’t installed it because of how tight it is to get to it. Sounds so good👏🏼
Flutter sound indicates something is not working properly, the divertter valve is supposed to release the pressure as to not cause backpressure on the turbo and its not doing it correctly
I don't have DIVERTER VALVE but all kind of stuffs like: AFE intake, FTP charge boost pipes, Savanini blow off valve. Still here the fluttering sound every time I hit and release the throtle! interesting!
Really glad you did a review on this, I’ve read in the forums that during WOT boost levels will drop immensely due to the computer misreading boost levels after install. Have you experienced anything like this? I’ve also read that removing a certain spring inside the valve itself will correct this problem. Thoughts?
Like usual great video! I would love to make upgrades to my BMW, but I don't want sounds giving away that I have a turbo. I like the sleeper factor my F30 has since most people are not aware that they are turbo'd. Ah who knows I might have to give in...lol Who would turn down faster acceleration, and power? Not me!
@@D1Darian most people dont realize that my 320i stock (184hp) has 300hp with bootmod3.. i left the 320i badge because its fun to ruin e90 330i's etc with ease

After listening some more I’m certain that you need to check that recirc valve, the whoosh noise is what you should hear every time, the flutter is non-diverted compressed air shooting back into the compressor turbine. This could have something to do with the spring weight in the diverter valve since it seems to only happen under higher boost and faster throttle body closing conditions. Hope this is helpful. 👍
The compressor surge is super minor. Imagine a kid blowing into a fan. If he got the flutter at WOT then you would want to be worried as 20 psi would be smashing into his turbo
Nicholas Smith I see where you’re coming from but like I said, not ideal. You gotta think, this is some fancy Bmw twin scroll turbo not a journal bearing eBay snail. I’m sure the thiccf30 will be fine but I just wanted people to be aware that the cool flutter noise isn’t a good thing.
did you have yours installed with or w/o the main piston spring? if you install w/o the main piston spring you should not get that flutter, and from what I understand the main spring install is better for manual cars, it helps to not lose all boost between gear changes. also, you might get a CEL related to your dv, but it says to disregard (I wonder if BM3 can get rid of that CEL). I myself installed the DV+ but w/o main spring, even though I'm 6mt I didn't want the potential CEL, just wanted the better built internals of the dv and get rid of a potential boost leak point. love the videos man, keep them coming! also digging the f. thirty flight tag, nice!
hey man so I've been looking at this valve as well as the Turbosmart Blow off valve. I have a 2.0 Camaro. I am trying to decide which option would fit best for me? Any advice?
Thanks for sharing. I bought and installed this go fast bits diverter on my 328i n20. Unfortunately I do not hear the turbo fluttering as you achieved. Only a higher pitched spool. Any idea the reason? I have stage1 and big sport intake besides. Thanks.
how do i get mine to flutter like that. i can barely hear mine. does it only flutter like that in sport +? can it flutter like that in comfort or regular sport mode?
u sure the bov works? because bov should not make flutter, you get flutter when you dont have a bov or its doesnt open and all the air pressure pusches pack to the turbo turbine and the blades cuts the air
I installed mine but I think you need a FMIC and pipes to make sound that loud or make it flutter, mine just makes the normal swooosh sound like a wrx or evo and it you can't actually listen to it when changing gears, maybe becuse its and automatic transmission n20
would it hurt to install this on my car? i recently just purchased it and its all stock. also do i need to have it tuned since its changing factory boost settings?
Uhhh, does this fit a b48? Been asking everywhere but can’t find any info on it. My turbo seems different but haven’t had a chance to lift it to check all around it, I’ve bought the part just unsure how it will work

Just got upgraded boost pipe, charge pipe and DV but I don’t hear the fluttering sound AT ALL! My mechanic took 5 hours installing the DV. I have a mishimoto intake(it’s basically legal). Could that be the reason why there is no fluttering sound?
Are you using the stock spring or the gfb spring . My car doesn’t flutter like that . Or might I have a boost leak . I installed the boost pipe and the charge pipe . It seemed a bit loose on the fitment on the connection points . When I use the Bimmer link boots reads 2bar at peak

Turbo flutter =bad
Bov flutter =okay

I like the turbo spool, but I would be taking that thing off ASAP for that flutter noise. Just sounds silly IMO - not aggressive.
Should’ve put a Birdman picture of him rubbing his hands when you were making the *brrr* sound

Anytime I hear flutter like that I assume there is boost pressure making it back the the compressor housing. Sounds cool but isn’t ideal.
