Over the past week, the Ukrainian military has recaptured a number of cities across eastern Ukraine. In this dispatch, VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky heads towards the MH17 crash site, as the Ukrainian military has successfully recaptured the cities surrounding it. On his way there, he visits a former separatist checkpoint and dugout, where he finds artillery the separatists used - some of which dates as far back as World War II.

now to be clear i think its horrible what the nazis/fascists did but you must understand the russians are 'very' proud of stalin and the soviet union (even though he killed way more than hitler, yet apparently to russians it somehow is still a good thing) because it was the only time where they meant something; so now you have positive feelings for stalin and everything pro soviet union and what better way to strengthen those emotions further than to put a stamp with the arch enemy of stalin and mother russia on everything you hate? that should give you a psychological view of their love for "fascists"

It's propaganda for a reason. Vilify the opponent to make your guys fight. UA uses the term "Terrorist" on all the combatants and Separatists use "Fascist and Genocide"

4:20 The mini-encirclement operation was an offensive oversight leading to a total disaster. DPR reinforcements from Dyakove cauldron arrived from the south and southwest surrounding them creating another mini-encirclement. They were caught off-guard. Their rearguard located outside the cauldron has no mechanized (tanks and apc) units to support them which they demanded (as stated by Azos battallion in the Dispatch 76). The army went into disarray from heavy shelling (Dispatch 75). Unfortunately, they were all wipedout except for Azos battalion that miraculously manage to exit the cauldron and retreated to Mariupol.

It's almost pointless for them to take the crash site. The rebels had people come and take everything away so that nobody could figure out what happen. All that's left is the marks on the ground from the crash and very small pieces of stuff scattered all over like a 10 mile area that will almost certainly never be found. I think the fact that rebels are trying to cover up the evidence is very suspicious and almost puts themselves to blame for it.

How many factions took place in this?...
so you have the Ukraine army, their militia (which is a different faction)
    you have the republic guys,
you have actual russian military, their spec ops, cossacks, militia, green men, armed civilians (who are trained)
you have the serbs, i think the turks popped up, you had americans, afgans,
damn... the list of people fighting in this is pretty long...
and note, only two factions were on the Ukrainian side, would have been three but their new leader ousted the republic guys...
so two factions, vs, how many?, damn, and then when america said they weren't getting involved?,
uhh, like 30 eps ago, your soldiers were boasting about how they came from iraq etc to help out... bruh. damn

Simon was abducted in Eastern Ukraine. He should not still be over there in this situation. It's apparent that his judement has become biased to the point of inciting violence. This is part of the problem and he may be suffering from PTSD, and distrorting his judgment. He should be sent home.

Anywhere I go, any type of news I find more pro-russian comments than any other types of views when it should be far from that. Could Russia just have comment bots on all things related to news?

    • @RadioRagnaroK
      @RadioRagnaroK 9 років тому +1

Yeah. I've read a few articles and it's possible they simply search for whatever mentions ''Russia'', ''Ukraine'', ''Kiev'' or ''Crimea'' to spam nationalist rhetoric. Makes sense since recently completely unrelated videos from years ago have been flooded with nonsense patriotism. Hell, mention Russia in any comment section and there's a good chance you'll get some Anti-west response immediately. It's not like they care if they're right ; The point is to hammer their rhetoric as much as possible, in as many opportunities as possible. Why? I'd wager it's to make people believe they are right, and make it seem like a great majority of users agree with them.

Who can use the shells of WWII? Desperate people. If them arms gave Russia, it probably would be a good explosives? Why the author did not find out and show exactly who is shooting from guns and rocket launchers against peaceful people, hospitals, homes? Now, to go and ask - Why? They know not what they do? The author should be more fundamental.

Can't everyone just get along? both in the Crimea and in the comments. you'd think the cold war had never ended judging by half these comments, stop insulting other peoples countries it won't make any difference, it's just like name calling in a playground, it does nothing except annoy the people involved.

Ukrainian soldiers call separatists bandits and terrorists, Donbas people call Ukrainians fascists. Labelling is the first step of dehumanization.

But driving g a legitimate democratic government out 9f sn area by force and terrorising all who disagrees into leaving or staying silent IS terrorism, that's nog a lable its just an accurate disruption of thair actions, unlike the Russians using "fashist" to mean anyone Putin dosnt like.
