We had this installed on our Class C RV prior to our trip to Colorado. We’re first time RV-ers and wanted every advantage on a long trip. Well, we got a flat tire on the left inside dual and we were so very lucky that we were still in a city (but still on the inter-state). The TPMS system began to beep. Checking the monitor and observing the air leaving the tire quickly I was able to find an exit within seconds and make our way to the parking lot of a Super 8 motel. Roadside assistance showed about 1 1/2 hrs later. He took the tires off and discovered that the tire was fine. It was the TPMS transmitter attached to the valve stem that caused the flat tire!!! It became loose but still had enough contact with the valve stem that the air escaped around the base of the transmitter flattening the tire. We were extremely fortunate that we were still in town so that we could gain access to an exit immediately so that we could be away from traffic on the interstate and enable road assistance to safely work on our RV. He strongly suggested that we take off the other monitor from the right inside dual and we concurred with his advice. The RV is still under warranty and is going back to the dealership tomorrow and hopefully they will explain to my satisfaction why this device caused a flat tire. On the other hand the system did work to the extent that it sounded the alarm for the flattening tire which is very good. Obviously, the fact that it caused the flat tire is a serious issue that I hope will be resolved and never happen again...to anyone.
Yikes! Wonder why that happened. They must have installed them improperly. We've haven't had any troubles with the valve stem. We have been saved from having a blow out by early warning 3 times now.
Wonderful information and review. Thanks so much for sending us the link to this video. I (Jason) really enjoyed watching this. Really good price too. I like how the display shows the tow vehicle separate from the RV. Love your flash T-shirt BTW, cool! LOL! Have a great day guys. Thanks for all you do and for sharing you knowledge and experience with us newbies.
We all learn from each other! We love TechnoRV. They are a full-time RVing couple who use the products they sell. If you get on their mailing list, they have great flash sales from time to time and you can get a great deal on the TPMS and other important items. Hope our paths cross when we head to Florida this fall. -- Sean & Julie
Great video. I'm hoping to get one for next season. What are the dimensions of the entire monitor minus the antenna? I'm making a custom center console for my class A and want to recess it like the radio, rear view monitor and AC controls. The antenna will be able to sit behind e oak panel so I don't need a cutout for that. Just want to. Are a clean install! Thanks
Loving the new logo! Seems like a great little unit. Even in my car I check the tire pressures all the time, but I'm sure it's even more important on the trailer! I like that they have all the possible tire configurations for you to choose from. That's handy. What is the point of the tool compared to just hand tightening? It didn't seem like it did a whole lot from this perspective.
The purpose of the tool was really difficult to display. There is a tiny nut on the bottom of the sensor that can only be tightened fully with that tool. I suppose it is a security measure to keep them from getting stolen.
@@ChickerysTravels It may also be so that if you hand tighten it, it does not break if for say you over tighten. Just probably protects the unit from being broke when turning.
It is funny. I was just discussing these with my friend this morning. I have always had difficulty using a tire pressure gauge and have not been able to accurately check the pressure on my camper. I am trying to decide if it is worth the cost for just the two extra tires on the camper. I know it would be a huge safety upgrade and I like the idea. Do you use the system on your truck when you are not towing?
So far, we do use it when we are just driving around town without the RV. It is nice to see that everything is okay and I am amazed at how hot the tires get. I guess I never thought about it before.
Thanks for watching, Dave. We actually have two types of valve stem caps for our TST. One type for the truck and one for the 5th wheel. This was at the recommendation of TechnoRV. The caps/monitors on the truck do not have to be removed. They have a small cap on the top that can be removed to put in air. The caps/monitors on the RV need to be removed. It does not take much more time that a traditional valve stem cap. Once the tire is filled, they screw back on. The system has saved us twice. Both times we were driving down the interstate. In both cases, the sidewalk of the tire split. The TST warned us immediately and we were able to pull over before the tire went completely flat. I think we would have had a lot of damage if we did not have a monitor.
@@ChickerysTravels I'm thinking of getting the flow through for the trailer. Just seems to be an easier process. Thanks for the feedback. Have a great day and safe travels.
One question .... How do you recover the air lost in the installation of the sensor? ... on the other hand I thank you very much for the good video, you are rightly an explosion of a tire ... it can be fatal for our lives and that of others and apart from the loss of your RV
Just watch the TPS video very informative. Looks like a good system. With this and other products and camp ground reviews what is usually important to a lot of us is the cost. Please include this important info so we can make a comparison.Love your videos keep them coming. Autotech182
Funny how people who get free shit can review a product by installing it and not actually using it for a period of time. Exact same thing on every channel TST gave one of these to.
Well darn, we wish we knew TST was giving these away! We didn't get ours from them. However, we are very happy with it. And now that we've had it longer, it has actually saved us on 2 occasions. www.chickerystravels.com/rv-must-have-tire-pressure-monitoring-system/
Sorry about the weird sound change. Something happened on upload. Hope you enjoy the video otherwise!

@@ChickerysTravels That would be awesome! Safe Travels guys!
Thanks for the nice video. QQ: What did you wire the repeater into?
Thank you, JD
Hi JD. I wired it directly to my 12v panel. I had some empty slots in the panel and it was located in a convenient location.

I’m not sure, but there is more product info here www.technorv.com/tst-cap-system-with-4-to-12-sensors/?Click=11723
This was exactly what I needed to set up. Thanks! Did you change the valve stems to metal? Do you recommend doing so?
No, we didn’t change ours. I’m not sure why it would be needed.
Excellent instruction
Glad it was helpful!

on your truck do you have steel valve fillers , did they come with truck or did you have to replace
We use the ones that come on the truck when we purchased it, but I'm not sure what type they are.

Very good video brother!!
Thank you! I need to add an update that it saved us recently. We had two flats in two weeks, but the TPMS warned us so there was no blow out.
How do you fill the tires with air when they get low? how do you like it,since you've had it on?

Thanks for the feedback, Jerry. Today, the TPMS is $319 at TechnoRV.com.
Their price was much cheaper than Amazon.
