I'm collecting for the PS4 as well because I can grab some things SO CHEAP, and I'm so new at it, some of those EBAY bundles are very worth it with no duplicates. Thing is, I see a stack of PS4 games like that, and I'm thinking "John's in for about 3 or 4 hours of hard drive installs"! Love the channel!!!
Just found your channel, good video! Finding bargains you will enjoy are the best. I have most consoles but not a PS5. Good to hear your thoughts on these games👍
Merry Christmas, great video. I have a lot of os4 and os5 games from the 5 for $20 at GameStop, and a bunch of others. My Xbox collection is fairly small, since I prefer the PlayStation controller, and games. Gonna order that dead rising 1 game, I have it on 360, but want it on ps4. Wish part three would get a remaster, along with the others to os5 and Xbox x.
Rocking the stash! Don't know why but it's the perfect look to play Driver Parallel Line or Driver 76! The time to collect for PS4 is now! Never seen the PS4 physical version of Prototype! Might have to upgrade my Xbox 360 version!
Nice pickups! You're absolutely right about PS4 collecting being so cheap now! No Man Sky is unrecognizable now with all the updates and dlc they added! It would be cool if you showed a bit of gameplay of the LOTR game you've just picked up (at a later date) as it sounds interesting! Happy Holidays! Great video and keep up the good work!
Good to see you, hope your holidays were great. “Santa” found Lies of P (ps5), God of War Ragnarök (ps4), Alpha Protocol (ps3) and Tears of the Kingdom for $80 at a pawn shop. “Can’t put a price on joy”. Now I really need to finish BOTW and GOW (2018). Happy New Year and holler if you accidentally end up in Baltimore, MD.
Epic... Also EDF is goated, really fun in co-op mode! I played thru 2017 with my sister's BF and we had a blast. Any of em I'm sure are good. Keep the good stuff coming!
BFME II is phenomenal, that is a great pickup. I've always played it on the PC, but was always curious to see how it was on console. Also, love the format of sharing what you picked up, then a game hunt.
I loved watching you convince yourself that this would be out by Christmas. No need to feel obligated to us to get it out by a certain time. As long as the videos are what we are here for we will keep coming back. Happy Holidays John!
I also love to collect physical games, but... Does the reason you mentioned at the beginning of your video still hold up? Because a lot of PS4 games require downloading content, patches, and fixes as well. So, there is a chance that when the game isn't available online anymore, the physical disc probably won't work as intended either. I've noticed that I've been thinking about this lately. Which games can you still play entirely from a disc? It's always nice to have the games in all their glory on your shelf. But still... Nevertheless, I do love collecting for the PS4 as well. And in the Netherlands, the market for PS4 games is currently thriving, especially with the availability of affordable deals.
I am loving picking up PS4 games now. I bought mine after the PS5 came out and have been catching up on what I have missed from the generation. I have been playing Deception IV and soon I will be playing Disaster Report 4, Psychonauts 2, Shadow of the Colossus and Alien Isolation.
@@collectorjohn9538 It has a complicated history. The 3rd game is a PSP title and I think is Japan only. The 4th game was supposed to be a PS3 game but was delayed after the fukushima disaster and was eventually completed by former Irem employees at a new company if I remember correctly.
I've amassed a collection of five, count it five PS4 games, all $10 brand new from either Amazon or Best Buy. I've just been on the hunt for a quality PS4 Pro for $200 or less, which I still think is far too much for a used PS4 at this point. And they still sell. Drove outside of my area to another GameStop when they were running a sale earlier this year and as I got there somebody bought the last one in stock.
Bummer! Yeah the PS4 pro is weirdly pricey. I found mine on goodwillfinds.com for a decent price last year, but they might be more expensive on there now
@@collectorjohn9538 Obviously there's no guarantees with any used product, but I'm just iffy on buying used consoles unless I can inspect them in person. Honestly I wish Sony still manufactured and sold PS4's new. I think $150 for a Pro and $100 for a base model this many years out would be a reasonable ask.
I was like you with no man's sky. Came back about a month ago after never touching it two hours after launch. Been fantastic game worth the money and wait imo.
Next time you go down to Franklin Mega Media there is another store close by that just opened like a month ago on the corner of Layton & Hwy 100 called Game Together MKE. It's becoming one of my favorite Milwaukee area stores.
From what I understand battle for middle earth is pretty important find. Warner brothers I believe held the IP so you can’t even find an emulation of that game
Yes sir!!! You can build a decent collection if you play ur cards right. My collection sitting on over 180 from the last time I looked at it. Good luck!! The ps4 is coming to the end of its cycle sooner then later. We 4yrs in2 the 5. Time going by..
Great video John! No mans sky is incredible now and a completely different game than the launch edition. I have easily 400 hours and counting into no mans sky. And the skywalker saga is amazing as well you’re going to have fun with those two games.
And now begins the loathsome, yet satisfying sticker removal process. HotD 2&3 return is frickin awesome on the Wii. Truly a great system for light-gun enthusiasts
John, you mentioned in this vid that you prefer to buy in game stores over ebay. I’m just getting into collecting for older consoles, and feel similarly, though ebay HAS found me some old classics I used to own that I just wouldn’t find in stores. Anyway, how often do you shop for games on ebay, if you don’t mind me asking?
Bio-Mutant for 11?!? Thats a steal. Not that its a rare game per say, but Ive been looking for that game around me to fall under $20. Dead Rising for 360 is where its at! scored one for $5 around Halloween.
Hey John, I don’t really mind aliens colonial Marines. But be sure to check out the DLC on the 360 it’s called stasis interrupted before the store closes July 29.
I'd tales recommend Tales of Arise. I've half-played a few "Tales" games and they're good, but I always lost interest because I got busy - but Arise is by far the best one I've played. The visuals are better than any other game before it and the locales and enemies are very interesting. Plus you get the PS5 game as a free download with the PS4 game.
I will so miss physical media when they get rid of it, already seeing it with Disney, very hard to get new copies of movies on DVD or Blu-Ray. Bad mistake if you ask me.
Yeahhh it's not looking great for physical media. At the same time physical media is dying it seems that people are getting fed up with streaming services and they're all losing money. Weird time we are living in
I have to say Last of Us Part II has reignited my love for gaming. I fell out of really really playing games for a few years now and it’s still slow going but that game was just put in and play and love straight away. The tight and fun gameplay, engaging enough story (obviously don’t like the thing that everybody else doesn’t like but I don’t let it ruin the game for me) and it’s biggest success to me is simplicity. It’s not bloated with an unnecessary open world, confusing skill trees, and all sorts of nonsense. Just a story with tight and engaging gameplay.
I totally agree. My favorite gaming experiences these days are tight and focused single player stories. I love the character that is not in most of the game, but for me it's what makes the story interesting. I loved the classic western revenge feel to it, and Abby's side of the story was cool too
What if the game has PS4 and PS5 versions. Which one do you prefer to get? Do you get the PS4 to increase your PS4 collection or the PS5 for the most up to date version?
Depends on a lot of things like price, availability, how much better the PS5 version is, etc. Generally for games with a PS5 upgrade path I'll just get the PS4 version. You're getting two versions of the game for less money usually
The ps4 is aweeeesome. I like to use my 5 dollar monthly gift card from gamestop to try to catch em slipping in the ps4 section. I got a ps5 recently and I've noticed that online (ebay mostly) I'm seeing some games are cheaper on ps5 over ps4. Just bought Wanted:Dead for 20 bucks when it was like 25-30 as a ps4 title. Weird stuff.
I like it more than the PS5 menu music (PS5 is still good though). The PlayStation Vita-Crystal Theme is probably my favorite PlayStation menu music lol ua-cam.com/video/S4VgbvpCaFU/v-deo.htmlsi=ZOryEUiqfwr7g4qa
Ah No Man's Sky (NMS.) I had the PS4 version at launch. I platinumed the game when almost nobody was putting effort into it because of its bad launch state. Traded it on afterwards, but I did buy it again much later on, this time on Steam. I hardly play it though (again.) Besides getting the plat trophy... my biggest achieve in it was finding two planets which were partly merged together so you could literally just between their merged atmospheres from one, to the other, then back, repeat. PS4 games are in a nice price range at the moment.
Great video again. How is Shadow of Mordor? I got a copy as part of an Xbox 1 bundle I bought, but I have never played it or heard anything about it. I know the reviews on it are very high. Any other game you can compare it to? Thanks
It's been a long while since I've played it but they're pretty standard 2010's open world games aside from the nemesis system which is really cool. Kinda similar to Mad Max of Witcher 3 (with less narrative stuff)
For all we know, Gabe could sell Valve to Elon Musk in 20 years and then he'll start charging a subscription for everyone to access their games library. That's how I justify it lol
Did disks in this generation of consoles function more or less like "tokens" due to game size and more server infrastructure or am I waffling😅? P.S been really wanting to get the yakuza games for the ps4 but this has been a point on contention for above reasons🤔
I think what you are describing happens more often with PC physical discs just containing a steam key, but most PS4 games will install to the console and play without needing an update. Zero games will run fully from the disc though; you will always need to wait for them to install off the disc, and in many cases if you download updates it will probably improve performance of the game etc. I think the Yakuza games are fine though

The PS4 games that Install and play mostly fine with no internet connection will be the ones sought after in the future.
