My favorite toys in my childhood.
And I lived in northern Sweden in a small town ... but we had a toy shop.
As I visited every day ... To watch or buy Battle Beasts and Laser beasts.

Fun fact: Battle Beast weapons were the same size as Lego weapons! So most of my BB's ended up armed with regular old Lego swords and axes.
I had a lot of fun looking at their armor and picking out what bits represented lasers, rockets, and whatever other weapons one would find on a techno suit. Suffice it to say, I enjoyed my (admittedly small) collection.

Battle Beasts could also hold G I Joe weapons, we bought several G I Joe Ninjas just to re-equip our battle beasts with swords and daggers

I never got into the "wood, fire, water" game , I made different factions led by Lion and Gorilla and later on Shark. I think my top five are Shark, Rhino, Fox, Lion and Raven.

To go back to those days. I remember i used to play for hours making up my own little world with crazy encounters with my Muscle Men, Battle Beast and whatever other assortment of toys I may have had at the time.

I remember going down to Florida and my grandmother bought me a ton of these in 1987 I think they were packaged 2 in 1 pack but I remember not opening them all cause I had older brothers saying “they maybe worth something o e day” well I did but sadly years later living in NYC my apt caught fire in 1995 and lost a lot of packaged toys not to mention all most all my other possessions most wa replace but vintage toys can’t and it sucks cause I see all these cool channels and I had a nice amount but I’m glad other people did it and good for them

For my 9th or 10th birthday party I asked everyone I invited to get me these. I still have probably 20 of them. I didn't care one bit for the fire/water/wood thing, but the detail on them was great. I used to stage elimination tournaments between them all. I still have a lot of the weapons too. I had the foresight in my early teens to pack up my remaining toys and hide them in the basement where my parents wouldn't mess with them.

It's always been that way, even going back to the old Tobacco Cards for baseball. Make a set of 200 cards and purposely short print (or even just not print at all) a couple cards to encourage people to keep buying until they could collect them all.

I was not a rich little boy at all so these and my Legos were the absolute play gems of my boyhood. I was gifted like 24 with 2 vehicles and one fortress. You could pour so much imagination into them. Little boys want to do wars with their figures. Each figure being a different animal made them really unique (because animals are so different). And a lot of them also had a unique characteristic which I'd use to give advantage in battle. The water-buffalo had these big antlers which could do a suplex. The walrus had a fin which I would do a mighty backhand. The snake had lasers on his chest for a ranged attack. The hawk had flight for hit and runs. And all of them being encased in cool advanced armour meant they could take a lot of punishment, merging melee and ranged combat. Hand-to-hand combat with the strength of beasts and ranged attack with advanced weaponry. The strength and agility of beasts merged with technology. There were three factions that I would do wars with.

LOL, cool story. I was never into Battle Beasts, though I had a few. I agree that toys back then really did have a great impact. Objectively speaking and not just because it was when I grew up, but I think the 80s were the best time for toys. Transformers, GI Joe, Star Wars, BAttle Beasts, Sectaurs, M.U.S.C.L.E, Army Ants, Wheeled Warriors, Masters of The Universe, etc.

I'm still wondering why there hasn't been a Pokemon-style Battle Beasts game. I mean… Collectible monsters that fight? Element-based gameplay? I mean, there should at least be a cheap, licensed knock-off shovelware title somewhere. But no, the BB seems all but forgotten - a very cool franchise with some really neat designs, but that's not likely to get a reboot or revival anytime soon…

loved these so much. in fact, looking back, probably my favorite action figures ever. I had tons of them, I think all the ones in your all-together shot and more, though I regret never having had Squid.
I never cared one bit for the fire/water/wood gimmick, i could see that it was for like poke style battles with friens but that was dumb. It was an interesting gimmick in the commercials but oince you owned them, they were pointless. The awesomeness of the figures was enough on it's own.
Kangaroo was awesome. Punched so many of my other guys so hard.
