Yes! Same here. I'm still a loose natural at the moment. But my hair seems to lock up overnight when I do my 2-strand twists for my next-day twist outs, to the point where it's impossible to detangle. And I have no choice but to cut off the locked ends/knots. Wash days are the worst for me with the ends locking up.
I love my locs. Bestest hair decision EVER!!!! My only regret, not starting earlier. I feel my hair is now in its most glorious state, no breakage, the fall wow, the ease, the way it frames my face, better than any weave, braid out ever did. The fact that nolonger have to hid my crown is everything. I'm letting me shine, my crown shines

joining the many comments thanking you SO much for making this video. it s been so hard to find youtubers with 4c hair even though our hair is perfect for loc’ing. the anti-Blackness is very real and can’t be ignored! your vibes are great btw
Literally all I do is mist my hair w water, peppermint, tea tree and lavendar oil then go in with my avocado, almond and jojoba oil when i FEEL like my hair dry… i love it here🥹
Girl yes, I style my short type 4 hair in mini twists, leave in for a 1.5mo and my roots already begin marrying within the twist lol so I know when I do loc, it'll probably be a quick process for the majority of my hair.
Thanks so much for sharing! I don't think I've had "baby hairs" since I was a baby! I think the edge control thing is a little overstated. I'm learning to just love what I can do for my hair that God gave me and do my best to keep it beautiful. I'm excited about my consultation next Moday!!!! YAY!! 😆
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever related to a UA-cam video as much as I relate to this one. I feel SEEN and HEARD!! 😄 I do like my natural hair, but I don’t enjoy the struggle. I feel you when you said your worst hair day with loose 4C hair could stop you leaving the house lol. I remember watching videos of women making their braid/twist outs last for a week while mine would barely last 24hrs (even after applying every product under the sun!). It was so disappointing to spend HOURS braiding my dense, 4C only to have the style last for one day lmao. It felt like such a waste of time. I cut all my hair off last year (second big chop) because I just got tired of it. Plus it was lockdown so no one was seeing me anyway 😂 I prefer to have my hair in braids as I like to wake up and go, so I feel like sister locs would be perfect for me. Thank you for making this video for your 4C sisters 😊❤️
Girl....your 4c natural hair and your locs are BEAUTIFUL!!! I want my locs to look like yours. I have 4c hair and a very tight curl pattern so I believe my hair will loc much faster than if I had a looser curl pattern. Yay for 4c curl gurls.....
this whole idea that loose 4c hair is impossible to take care of is rooted in texturism and it's so sad to hear, but it's so heartwarming that locs are allowing us to love and appreciate our hair more 🎉
I agree! I’m locing because I’m active and I prefer the maintenance of protective styles (over loose hair in general, not because of texture). But I learned know to do wash and gos and now when my hair is loose I spend an hour washing and styling, 5 minutes banding at night, 5 min fluffing in the morning. 4C hair can be so manageable with the right methods!
This ENTIRE video was much appreciated! I have 4C hair and every last thing you reflected on has been my natural hair experience. I was exploring the idea of getting locs, but this video in particular solidified it for me. Thank you!! And I subscribed! 🥰

However I get tired of spending hours on my hair or picking out my huge fro the ends loc on their own. The point you made about our hair wanting to loc motivated me to go ahead and allow my hair to do what it really wants.
This was such a dope video! You expressed exactly how I feel! I definitely will be locking my hair. The issue is finding a loctician who is accepting new clients in Atlanta 😞
Whew! Needed this video cuz I feel like I have 5C hair 😆 and my baby hairs haven't layed down since I was permed in 2014. I'm wondering if some of these folks are perming or texturizing their edges (nothing's wrong with that but it would help to know). Thank you
I appreciate this video. You made so many points that resonate with me. I've been natural for a few years. Tired of braids, tired of clip ins and attaching stuff to my hair for length. Shrinkage is insane. I've been mimicking some of the short starter locs styles I see with just my hair. Your locs are so pretty. I like the size too, very versatile.
I’m a 4c girly, 7 weeks loc’d and my hair is doing so well. They do marry at the roots a lot but whew this is so much better than dealing with my loose natural 4c hair that used to mat up after 2 days even in a ponytail lol

This what I needed to see. I have an appointment to get my hair loc'd but it seemed most of the videos I found were of girls with beautiful locs but not 4c.
I’ve been back and forth with starting locs and taking them out for like a year now 😩 my biggest questions are 1. Are starter locs normally itchy? And 2. How do you maintain moisture in your locs? I’ll mist my hair and seal it with oil a few times a week sometimes but my hair is just DRY 😩 ugh lol
What I'm really wondering about is the lenght I should expect if I loc my hair. 4c hair has a lot of shrinkage. Even if my hai is long while streched, it's short in its natural state. Should I expect that when starting locs?
I don't really understand the laying edges thing, how comes we are the only ones obsessed with our hair lying flat on the edge of our scalp in a certain formation while everyone else is wearing theirs as is? also all the edge control products are expensive and not to mention the effects of destroying the edges...someone plizz explain this to me...
I’m assuming when you say “we” you’re referring to black people. I will say this, I don’t understand why black people choosing to do something needs to be justified by whether or not other races of people do it. That sounds like centering our actions in whiteness, and I personally could care less what other races of people choose to do with their hair. It sounds like you are not here for edge control which is perfectly fine. Do you lol! To his his own 😊.
Faith, as a fellow Kenyan, I understand what you are saying. It is a pertinent question to ask completely justified, plus I don't think that black people from other countries understand that we can just ask questions, that have nothing to do with whiteness. White people have been asked why they can't appreciate their skin as is instead of spray tanning like other people so I wonder what that question would be rooted in...

Neither. They are Sisterlocks started with interlocking 😊. It would be pretty difficult to get locs my size with twist or coils. It’s definitely not impossible, but it could be fairly difficult. Kendra Kenshay has BEAUTIFUL small locs that I think she started with twist.
New subbie ❤️
Thank you so much 😊!!!
im getting locs on friday, really excited but nervous. i love my 4c fro on its best days but this semester has been really hard and having to make my hair “presentable” is just another reason not to get out of bed and miss class. ready to be feeling better about myself :)
I hope you love your journey! Locs are definitely a lot less maintenance for most people 😊💕
How has your journey been going? I've been considering locs for sometime now as I just want a change. Just a little nervous about making the leap..lol. But I know I should..lol.
I don't even know my hair type. Lol
