This was a very helpful video! And as for the men, they actually have "brotherlocs" for them which is a semi replica of sisterlocks. It's just not trademarked like sisterlocks.
I'm so happy to come around a fellow Kenyan.🤗🤗 I've been researching about locks for a while now,i went to the salon/loctician and asked if they can start my locks with 2 strand twists,Most local salons/locticians are only familiar with coils, interlocking. I ended up getting lock extensions because i was just so tired of searching for locticians who would advise on hair density, lock size for my type of hair and who could start with 2 strand twists. I kept showing them all these youtube videos of people starting with 2 strand twists and all the ones i met werent familiar with that technique. I've come to learn my hair is low density ,i've noticed i always liked locks which were around 110-150 . I think i was misled into getting loc extensions and i'm looking to undo them this month and go have someone put 2 strand twists on my hair,i guess i'll figure out the retwisting part once i get to that bridge. Excited to start this journey
Hey love, I familiarize with your journey quite abit, my first time doing my Loc’s they put so much beeswas I scared for so long and decided to just wash them out! I started my own two strand twist! Sometimes I wish I had a professional to get my patterns perfect but I’ve come to learn that this loc journey isn’t a easy one! You will always find things not to like about your dreads! And things to love about them! I think if u wanna start again go for it! I hope my video helped and can help u better on choosing how many dreads you would like! Remember everyone’s journey is different! Your Loc’s will be unique, and can never really look exactly like someone else’s! I had extensions ones, I share it in one of my videos! And I didn’t like the look! They just weren’t mine! But do what works for u! Sometimes doing extensions and waiting till your Loc’s grow can help make the journey easier for u! In all I’m so happy to have met a Kenyan too! This makes me very happy! Feel free to share with me your journey! I’m here for any questions u might have! 💎
Love that I came across this video. I'm just starting to pay attention to my hair density. I've had a few sets of locs, and this video would have been super helpful. I also wish I came across this type of video before starting locs on my mother. We're definitely seeing the affect of her hair type and the weight of her locs. Thank you!!!!
Thanks for sharing! Very nice explanations....I'm restarting my 2nd loc journey next week. And you're soooo right about the guys. The men can do Mister Locs! Lol
Mister Loc’s 🤣, thats awesome I also started my 2nd Loc journey and I’m glad I did, I like this number of Loc’s better then the first. Is there anything you wanna know more about when it comes to Loc’s? Any struggles you have had?
People with beautiful thick 4C hair are bless and I wish my hair was like them. I am learning I have low density hair and I have 42 locs because I want thick locs and sadly after one year my locs aren’t thick . I’m trying to trust the process but I’m ready to cut them out already because of this issue
I get that, I mean sometimes we just can’t get what we wishing for but there so many ways to make it work. Learning all the techniques to thicken your Loc’s and just style it in ways that dont thin them out is a good start. Also length and maturity of your Loc’s make a big difference. 1 year, u still got time, il do a video on my journey because when I was 1 year my dreads weren’t as thick as they are now.
I think we had the same thought about men not having sister locs at about the same time! I randomly found this video and it’s so helpful and I wish I found this before I loc’d my hair. New Subscriber ❤
I have medium density hair i think but i only have 56 locs The back is thicker than the front but am struggling with my hairline and did dye my locs a couple of time am also treaming out the dyed parts slowly I wish i came across this before i started or decided to dye my hair
It’s okay! Trust u me I dyed my Loc’s also bleached them! I can clearly see the difference! But best thing about hair is it grows and u will even forgot the times u had dyed it! Ain’t nothing but a life lesson! 💎
My goal is to grow my locs to my bum and then I’m prolly going to cut and comb out because I see I have low density hair… my hair is beautiful but I be feeling like tails from the crypt some days.
Awwwww girl I feel you, I wanna grow my dreads as long as I can too, and sometimes my dreads look like gold and other days they dusty. But it’s all a processes life is a journey of ups and downs! Even in our bodies and our hair, skin. It all is connnected. Enjoy your journey
I get, are they long? Cause I have a friend who has like 10, and she doesn’t like curtain things but when she shows me people with that many Loc’s there Loc’s look amazing when long. It’s just sticking through it. But also there’s nothing wrong with combing them out and starting again with more. I did that
It’s perfectly fine I have actually joined some of my Loc’s, having thicker Loc’s is better for longevity! The longer your Loc’s become the heavier! So it’s good for them to have a thick root
@@beviify awesome ! thank u so much this really put me at ease :) i love ur locs btw ! & was so happy to watch this video before getting mines installed i’m a month in now thanks to u , this vid had sealed the deal for me 🥳
I don’t have loose curly wavy hair, my hair is 4C tightly coil and low density. Fine hair and low density are two different hair types. Although I like the look of sisterlocs it’s too expensive and the retightening is a long process.
I agree sister Loc’s can be expensive! What if you learnt to do them yourself! My cousin also had the same problem but she decided to start doing them by herself and it’s going ever well!
@@beviify I’m too lazy for that 😆, I’m gonna get small regular loc’s hopefully under 190 and then retighten them myself after a year. Starting with two strand twists for a little more volume. Thank you for the tips & advice ☺️
I have 108 but I have low density hair. I didn’t want sisterlocs because of the price and time it takes to get them. I can’t physically sit that long. I would say my size is extra small. As they grow will it look full or still be scalpy?
If the thinness your feeling is starting from the scalp then thats probabky just your density! If your okay with that its okay cause they will grow long! Ive seen people with sister-locks with low density and it still looks amazing even with they are not full 💎
I have kind of dense hair but my individual strands are fine. I want thiiick locs, like 50 of them or so, but I wonder if they’ll get skinny because of my fine hair
Is it best to go get a consultation before booking a starter loc appointment? I can’t tell if I’m thick density or medium but want a full lioness look without small locs
Definitely, you could be in the middle, cause I was always confused. I would say maybe also have about 100 Loc’s that’s the best number when your not too sure
But I get jealous and sometimes regret seeing people with plenty and thicker dread ,mine is not all that full ,I cut my dread before but the one I fixed this year is not fine like my previous dread And my guy doesn't like dread so I'm trying to convince him to like it I want my dread to get thicker like yours I can't wait
Yes it does, its best to space out your retwist days to a month or two months. If you like the neat look do a retwising style that can last a whole month but that is not too tight on your loc’s. 💎
Men get them, but they're officially called Brother Locs.
This is the best explanation of density hair that I’ve ever heard of. Thank you.
your welcom
Girl, I've watched about one thousand videos on the topic. Your video is Super super super good. Perfect, best on the subject. Thanks from Jamaica

Oh wow thank you so much 💎

Is 70 bad for medium density hair?
That’s my question

For example, my afro is huge but when I plait it down it can become very flat
You should reconsider calling them dreads.
