Hi jay, are you going to get into Gundam assemble when it arrives, I’m so hyped for it. All the best, take care
Are you sick, you sound a little congested, if so hope you get well soon.
Orc's???
Because I can see it happening, there.
Whaagh powa, boya!!!
GW didn’t wanna see all the fixed Sanguinary Guard we were all doing.
My brother just got some normal sanguinarys, we are totally out of the loop, please explain what u mean by fixed
@ so old guard have wings, better face sculpts, better iconography and better accessories. The new guard have none of that. Around the same time the new guard was released GW also released some amazing new Age of Sigmar models called Prosecutors that came with glorious wings and even some better chest sculpts, everyone started kitbashing the models together to make better Sanguinary guards and even a lot of big named content creators were doing it and were open about their disdain towards the new Blood Angel releases. Also they took away the Sanguinary chest nipples lol.
@@primarchcharlemagne Still can't believe they took away our chest nipples. nothing is sacred anymore
@@AidanClutterLook up the old sanguinary guard models, now look at the new ones, there’s a lot missing
1000% this. The fact that the promo art for the Sanguinary Guard have wings and the models themselves do not is VERY telling.
What's next, GW gonna tell me my Dark Elves don't swing both ways?
Don’t be silly GW suck that stuff off 😂
White Dwarf used to post articles on how to craft terrain or even scratch build your own vehicles! Those days are sadly long long.
Now they're trying to police how you convert their own models. Its really sad
My LOTR "codex" showed how to build terrain and buildings for their custom scenarios... RIP
I remember getting an interview for GW solely on the pic they saw of the custom fantasy Giant I’d converted for my Godson’s Christmas present. This was an interview to run one of their stores.
We spent so long in the interview talking about some of the conversions I’ve done and they were so supportive.
I get that they are turning more profits by running things as a pure profit generation activity, but it is ceasing to be a hobby company and any soul they had remaining is being purged
Didn't White Dwarf even have some templates to photocopy for terrain and tanks?
@@keatsmeister did you get the job?
My first thought when they announced you couldn't mix parts from settings was, What about Peachy's Ventrillian Nobles? Peachy, a (former) Games Workshop member of staff, who gave tutorials for his Ventrillians on the official Warhammer youtube page, used free guilds parts to make an Imperial Guard regiment that GW created but doesn't otherwise make models for, and his army was even shown off in at least one Imperial Guard codex. That army wouldn't be allowed. WTF. A little head swap and bang, your army is disqualified despite us making that headswap the only option to make this army we created without buying 3rd party bits. Bit of a piss take really. Glad they reversed this decision
Someone at GW was PISSED that everyone kept posting their fixed Sanguinary Guard so they tried to step on those peoples toes with that lil maneuver they tried.
I've heard speculation that the Armies on Parade nonsense was due to how GW is organized internally. I guess the AoS and 40k teams have to like... compete against each other for resources? Sounds like an incredibly inefficient and hostile way to run a business. This is like a 1980s car company level of toxic bullshit.
It's especially dumb since pretty much every 40k person I know loves how the AoS models look and would love to have some of their sculpting talent work on our models, but noooo. GW has to keep them siloed or their execs can't get it up.
Thats a sound theory. Especially considering the suspected internal politics between Specialist Design Studio (Forge World) and the main part of the company. The Old World/AoS legacy factions issue comes to mind.
The Armies on Parade thing seemed deliberate to me - the wording was too specific. I've seen big companies do it a lot: make a change that goes a little too far, roll it back when there's pushback, then now that you know where the line is gradually make updates that go _up to_ the line while not crossing it. Then eventually make that last change to what you wanted all along and people will complain less because it's not such a big change anymore.
Congratulations you understand politics now
GW fanboys fall for this over and over and over then hand them money.
The 3d printing legions will not be stopped. Never interrupt your enemy while they are making a mistake. An ork told me that once
Completely off topic, I love Jays's intro', it always sets up the "Feel good" factor this channel brings when I watch. Also reminds me of that small ogre in Gummi Bears, don't know why, but anyways 🙏
Toadwart’s the name.
@Bluewater1976 Hahaha you're right ! It is. 👍
GW is just so...bad at being a corporate entity. It's almost 80s cartoon badguy bad levels of silliness when they decide to make giant sweeping changes. They read like a spoiled child wrote them and it makes them look even worse when they backtrack said sweeping announcement - the guys really need to hire a PR guy to slap them every time they try to do this.
its what happens when you make a literal metric fuck ton of cash. Also when your customer base is into masochism
That spoiled child metaphor is perfect.
"GW is just so...bad at being a corporate entity." Is objectively false. The company keeps breaking records, every single quarter now. It has never been as good at being a corporate entity as this very second, as you are reading this. They make some decisions that are funky, but you got a bunch of upvotes for literally lying.
GW is in the FTSE 100 and is one of the top 100 most successful British companies; they’re very good at being a corporate entity. The fault lies with the customers that continue to reward this bad behavior.
Me. A WotC player (MtG and D&D)
“First Time?”
My favorite part about the "don't mix game miniatures" was when a Redditor posted a picture out of the Necron Codex showing a converted Lady Olynder, in all her Nighthaunt glory, marching to war with the crons. Get off it GW!
I personally love the 1k lists to playing 40k. Wish more people would play at 1k. Think most of my TTS games have been at the 1k mark very enjoyable.
Always love your attitude Jay. You should be proud of your painting, it is excellent, but your greatest traits are your dedication and attitude, Fuggin' awesomely refreshing.
I’m sorry but “Febu-fairy” was RIGHT there.
My space marines are Stormcast Eternals led by Sigmar (Bobby G conversion).
Sig maines do look better than space marines.
And I'm running Knight Arcanum as my librarian in phobos armor 😂
An idea for Dentia-- sculpt some ground splash around that molar, and now she's not pulling it out, she's slamming it down, using the tongs and molar as a giant (and by giant we mean tiny) bec de corbin.
Lol 1000 points used to be the same size as 2000 points back in 4th and 5th….
At Spiel a GD piece of gollum eating a fish was DQ’d cause the fish was from AoS.
it was a rights issue RE: the Lotr license. GW only has rights to their Lotr models, not to other models, and the painter had custom sculpted his Gollum. GW did have the rights to it, so it had to be dqd. The painter knew it was likely to happen.
I don't understand why they want to keep their games separate. Like even between 30k and 40k they try to not make models that can be used in both games. Like they think someone will say "I want to play 30k but have no 30k models, let me go pay a thousand dollars to GW real quick" instead of just proxying. If Kill Team has taught me anything it's that it's way easier to get into a game with a low cost of entry, and once you're in you're much more likely to buy a $60 kit than a $500+ army. If Stormcast were Space Marine scale and had removable shoulder pads I bet GW would sell twice as many of them.
Last I knew, Stormcast have separate shoulder pads. They did upgrade sprues for them for a while that had different sects/chapters/whatever. Problem is, Stormcast are huge models and they do not fit on 32mm bases at all. They're bigger than primaris marines and fit quite comfy on their 40mm bases. Most people don't like using something so substantially larger for proxies.
@@wolfehoffmann2697 Yeah I just used some Stormcast as Bladeguard, didn't realize how big they were going to be but it works for bladeguard who're bigger than regular space marines anyway (and use 40mm bases). And all their shoulder pads were fused to their arms, had to do some careful cutting to replace them with space marine shoulder pads. And that's kinda what I'm saying, it took extra effort for me to proxy, if it were easier than more people would do it. But then again, part of the reason I even tried was that stormcast are cheaper, so I guess GW really wants me to buy the upcharged special space marines.
I thought for a sec when you said tiny 40k you'd be talking about epic. Which I think you should! I would love to see some epic content.
The best version of warhammering.
"no one is gonna do that".... well not a single one of my allies for my Chaos Knights is a 40k model, Nurglings are AoS birds and Beasts are Legions Imperialis constructs
I found the sweet spot for 40k to be 1000 - 1350. Just enough leeway to bring a named character if you want, a few squads and a couple of vehicles. Everything feels like it matters, it flows better and often tells a better story. I wish it was more common
Have you considered stencils for the wings? They can really help get the broad strokes down so you can enjoy the work of individualizing each model. Food for thought, love the channel.
They should just say models must be 51% GW kit. Allow some 3d printed parts, but note it in any article.
07:59 You could break the wings area into sectors and paint them in parallel part-by-part
I think fastest GW change of mind was in 8th ed when they change the Flying movement, some day a PDF arrive and the nerd rage was huge, because they change Flying movement so you can't move over terrain just over enemy units, they change the rule immediately, less than 24 hours after
There's some great storm cast to space marines conversions. Pretty crazy. Open the rules but tighten the guidelines. State that minis must look setting appropriate no matter what parts have been used.
For the 1k points league, you should have a ban list similar to Yugioh. For balancing purposes you have Semi Limited stuff where you can only bring 2, Limited is 1 and you as a group can ban problematic units.
Was thinking something similar but might be a bit harder as peeps would have to go trough all the codexes
I was maybe thinking of no reinforced units or a limit on it (like aos used to have) and than maybe max 1 vehicle with max t of x or just transports
I really like 1k games and I'm sad my friend group basically moved on to basically 2k games only it feels 😅
Love the 1000 points enthusiasm at the second half of the video!!!
In white dwarf they really often show conversions mixing 40k and age of sigmar bits. I'm planning on making some daughters of khaine with scurges wings to fit to the krethusa model.😂
No mention of GW axing the Tantalus? I thought that was Jay's favorite model?
GW, you can't use Age of Sigmar minis in your 40K army. Also, GW Lady Olynder as Nightbringer in the Necron Codex. Yeah, that's cool.
I know theres practically a 0% chance you'll see this but I'd absolutely love to see you do grey knight terminators, im really struggling with a good look for them right now and the way you work translates really well to a "dumbed down" version that i can do. either way
Blooded kill team is the traitor guard; brood brothers is the GSC one but yes, it exists so is a really odd example to use!
I've been thinking about playing Age of Sigmar at 1k points for some of the same reasons. Tree Revenants don't do anything in 2k point games, but in Spearhead, at least they do something. But I agree that you would need some ground rules. Like Alarielle would be my entire army, but she could probably handle it, so maybe don't bring her. Or Spirit of Durthu with reinforced Kurnoth Hunters would be almost the entire list, so maybe we would have to have no reinforced units. But then monsters would get really strong, so maybe only a maximum of one monster. I don't know, it would obviously just be for fun, so we can do whatever we want.
But it feels like smaller faster games could unlock underutilized units. Spiterider Lancers (bug cavalry) is completely outclassed by Kurnoth Hunters because in 2k point games, the speed of the cavalry isn't as important as the extra power you get from the Kurnoths. But with fewer units on the board and maybe not being able to afford to bring Belthanos, the Bugs might be more valuable.
I think no named characters or max point limit on characters could help ^^
No reinforcements and max 1 monster seems like a good base
Than maybe also a limit on endless spells as they can already be oppressive in 2k so could be worse in 1k ^^
For fun fast games, my friends and I still play 4th Edition Combat Patrol. 400pts, small board, nothing with a 2+ save, nothing with more than 2 wounds (wounds were different in those days), no vehicles whose total armor value exceeds 33 and a few other rules. The one drawback is that there is only one official mission type and it is "bash your toys together until they're all dead." But the six turn games still wrap up in like 80-90mins.
Just seen you're up to 275k subs. Well done. Huge channel.
How would they know which setting the Ork boys and Orc boys and Orruk boyz heads came from?
If you like the Hellboy tooth fairies, you'll probably like the creatures in the movie, Don't be Afraid of the Dark
GW,taking the fun out of games since the 2,000's. My group plays between 1,000-1,500pts on 6'x4' tables. Great games. We also play Boarding Actions at 500pts which is fun as well!
can you pls show the live studio audience in the begining, like in bigger shows, mybe zooming and flyarm! ^^
In LVO the Narratives was played at 1k points with no named Characters. even at 2 Vs 2 game it was crazy. I played salamanders in a Libraius conclave and boy did my Infernus with a librarian go to town. I enjoyed it a lot. On Sunday at 4x4 It really was a bit broken.
The people that have been using Sigmar orks in heavy armor (Blacktusks was it?) to make 40k 'ard boyz are probably rioting right now. Thats such a dumb statement for them to make, it genuinely feels like they tried to test the waters and we instead set the water on fire by throwing gasoline on it. Love it...
That's not the ground, it looks like a giant's gums
I've seen a lot of talk about 1500pts using 2k pts rules is the actual "sweet spot", but I haven't been able to play that style. Sometimes 1k feels really limited.
I really enjoy 1500 pt games
OPR focuses around 1000pt games, although I think their point costs for units may be a tad higher. But they also use army building rules for the given points. Like I think 1000pt army must have at least 1 hero and 2 troops type units, with max 1 repeat etc
Because of the license, GW can't mix LOTR with any of their other games. OK so it was a long time ago so I'm a bit fuzzy on details, someone used Boromir's Head on I think a Rattling and made Sharp, A character from the TV show called Sharp, played by Sean Bean, and it was entered into a Golden Deamon, contest, GW disquieted it because of the License problem.
Weird take from GW considering the official Necron codex has an AoS model (Lady Olynder) as a C'tan proxy lol
So no demons at all or no demon chaos mixes
For the longest time I thought this was called 'Mile's memories' and I was wondering 'who the hell is miles?' :D
Given that the Tantalus was just sent to Legends, what is your plan to finish off your Drukhari army now? I personally am considering a Voidraven Bomber.
So.. who's gonna covert Sertra enough to make him fit in a Necron army?
Please do more skaven minis
Specifically, rats riding rats
Oh wow, guess that means my 2 Master of Executions that are converted kitbashed from Age of Sigmar models for my World Eaters army wouldn't be allowed for Army's on Parade
I love 1k point games, units feel important and makes for a quick fun game :)
I think GW sends out rules and restrictions for the Minis to have them on the books *if* they ever want to restrict something, most likely when mixing stuff eats into their profit.
Before watching the video i hope this backpedal is about prices 😢😂
Lol.
Lmao even.
The only way that would happen is GW accidentally didn’t charge as much as they meant and raised prices again.
3D printer for the Win
If 40k had larger models I might play it, honestly. The tiny minis are just too small for me to appreciate-- but I understand I'm really not GW's audience, especially since I definitely wouldn't be buying the models regardless of thier size, I'd just print them.
I have troubles printing because like I'm a big guy and my eye sight is bad, so if I want to paint I need a headset and a lot of my minis I am afraid to paint because of small details
Imperial/Chaos Knights calls to you then, my friend! Literally just an army of Gothic gundams.
Warhammer Cop is now my career goal.
Cute tooth fairy miniature. The Banshee is very nice, too.😊
My group started doing 1000 point games to accomadate the player who only had that much and we stuck with it becuase it works better for our time and skill level. Occasionally we do 2 folks at 1K vs a single player at 2K if there are three of us.
Models and memories is a show you do 3 days a week it seems like. I know you just did the army painting video, but these are the most common videos I see from you.
I love seeing malifaux in the background. I want more malifaux videos from a big UA-camr to bring it more attention.
doesnt have to be ground, what the tooth is stuck in. just paint it as flesh.
Paint the ground like the gums the tooth is stuck in.
I've heard from a couple of people now that 1000 or 1500 40k is the way to go, but I think you want to add stipulations like 'no characters....or maybe 'no individual unit more than 200 pts'. Angron into 1000 points for instance is pretty close to gg if they don't counterbuild a list to deal with him. The intent of the limited list is to encourage more engaging gameplay, not pick an absurdly strong unit and steamroll.
Here’s an interesting push to the limit. Can I use talisman miniatures (made by games workshop, says Games Workshop on the boz) in my army on parade?
Started playing in an escalation league in our local store, and oh is it ever fun
But my blood bowl space marines want to be represented
No more Skaven SpaceMarines??? Boooo
Should be an entire ratkind version of 40k - Emperium of Ratkind, Ratorks, Ratanids, Ratatao, Dark Rattar, Chaos Rat Marines, and of course, Whiskers of Battle.
Jay I love you 😎
The best part was when they tried to fix it and presented it as "Obviously you all misread what we said...". Gaslighting from the very best. GW sucks.
That Denta model, the tooth looks like its coming out of a gum
I might try and get one of my casual friends to try 1k games because the model collection is easier. Thanks for the reminder.
I can even play my Thousand Sons without Magnus then. Gives me a reason to paint and play that winged daemon prince I’m sitting on that I fully intended on getting to before I got too busy
Whenever a company starts making silly arbitrary rules that stifle fun and creativity, and don't actually seem to accomplish anything important as a result outside of just "no you can't do that!" then it's really time to start looking for the door.
GW has been going down this line a long time, and they will, if given the chance, ban fun out of the game.
7:05 no come on now it is possible, you just actually need to sound sincere, and human.
Now GW doesn’t hire people like that for those roles. I mean fuck dude, the world is a fake it till you make it kind of place and being as big as GW is, you know they have plenty of bad actors who won’t bat a eye or bother re-evaluating. They’ll just get fired/laid off the next time they need to cut costs.
GW. They should make it so anything games workshop related pieces should all be allowed To combine or bash kit they are putting a limit What we could do they are breaking the rule of cool
stupid decision on GW's part, converting 40k + AOS they sell two boxes to end up being one unit in play, they get much more than if it were not converted
the blooded killteam is chaos, not genestealer......
I miss the skitarii day count 😢😂
It was fun lerking the comments seeking the day count 😂
I guesse he is really done
Instructions unclear, tried to paint a checker board and ended up making a website
Nope I straight up am using blightkings as plague marine terminators
As a 1980s player i just laugh at these rules. We could use anything.
Sylvaneth Wings? What wings?
i won't defend games workshop many times bc they're a big company and don't need it lol, but i genuinely don't think they put their foot in their mouth or retracted what they said. i think they just didn't clarify and people reasonably assumed the worst . what you said before sounded like their second statement just not as clear so i wouldn't consider them "backing down."
I think "Do not ever mix settings" is a new corporate directive that everyone at GW is being asked to follow. Black Library does a call for submissions every once in a while, and the writing prompt this year specifically states that you can write either a scene in the Sigmar world OR a scene in the 40k world, but mixing will get you disqualified.
These restrictions are really weird...it feels like "I have a fruit and veggie stand. You're welcome to buy fruit or veggies, but if you buy both there will be a problem!" It's the same stand.
So I cant modify Stormcast Eternals into Custodes that actually look decent? :o
I’ve never heard Jay scream
freindly reminder that you do not need to support GW directly allways use 3rd party stores and save money! also use 3rd party minis
The sooner the bulk of warhammer players ditch the official rulesets the better
I do this sometimes. . . Acolytes of Tzeentch look way better than chaos cultists. . . Blight kings are great for converting death guard. . . Bloodhound works well with world eaters. . . I would not listen to GW on this. . . also I have 4,000 points of beast men so not my GW
No subtitels available 😖
Do you have any interest in Crusade?
2:38 It isn't blooded, it is the Brood Brothers Kill team
This was necessary. Bad Jay!
If cows or chickens wore clothes, would we eat those ? 😂😂
I cannot understand the loyalty to this company at all. They are horrendous.
Really l seen blade champions build out of stormcast heroes. Winged sce dudes being vetinari. Etc
Every army I have is 3d printer from scans. No one has even noticed not even at WH world lol
Can you put your screenshot up of what you read. The elecution of the speech is poor. Having to skip back just to hear a word you don’t say properly is ok. But it would be easier to see the thing for ourselves rather than you read it like a kindergarten teacher.
Except for Daemonettes........ because theyre the same in aos and 40k.....
