When I was a kid, TV diners were a real family treat, eating them on the old metal TV trays watching TV! Now, decades later, I still eat them watching Kent Rollins on UA-cam!
When I was a youngster, every time I'd stay the weekend with my grandparents we would eat dinner in front of the tv with old tv trays. I wish times were as simple as they were back then.
Got the Kent Rollins seasoning, put it on an old shoe put it in the oven, guess what that was the best tasting old shoe I ever ate! All jokes aside it is really good seasoning!
Watching and listening to Kent does cause three simultaneous reactions: An enourmous appetite, a weird feeling of wholesome happyness and the urge to cook/bake/simmer/fry/grill something outdoors. Thanks for sharing that with us!
Well "I love Lucy" been making us laugh for 70 years now. It never gets old. I have eaten a few of those Hungry Man dinners over the years. Going to do this one for tonight. I got most of the fixings in the pantry.
Dear Kent and Shan, Just wanted to drop you a note on this program. I have viewed a couple of times, this weekend with my wife and I fighting the "cold"; I thought "Hey I will give her a break and do this version of the Hungry Man Dinner, Now so you will know I am no kinda of a cook, when we go camping I am usually the camp cook, not because of any skill, but because no one else dares to take the position. So, to stop the rambling, the dinner turned out worthy of a Kent dance, seriously! It was that good. I made sure that all three of our pups got a taste. Thank you folks for making this place just a little bit better.
Sir Now Time is 2:07 Am in India but I am watching this Video only for you. Even We never heard about most of your recipes still we love to try it only for your passion and love for food and your country. Thank Your Sir.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m a chef man and after a long day when I watch your vids it makes me check my attitude and be grateful and happy with the little things, stay blessed boss!
My father (RIP,) would use that same meat mixture but add the onions into the meat and called it Hobo Burgers. Best burgers I ever had. Watching you make this recipe made me think back to my childhood, and my dad frying up his Hobo Burgers. Thanks Kent for a great video and bringing back some fond memories.
In the 1950s, there was a fad of placing a very thin slice of onion inside the ground meat patty before grilling. I still do this occasionally. It’s tasty!
The idea is good, but the food network would ruin it. Do they still have actual cooking shows, or do they only do same old competition shows and other crap like that.
God Bless Kent! Love your channel Sir. It always put a smile on my face. I just wanted to let you know that everytime I about to watch your videos, I tell my wife "I'm gonna watch grandpa" she run in and says "Wait for me" We love your recipes on this house Sir.

Clean water, a bed, shower, food with more than one color that I don't have to eat laying on my belly behind a rifle in 5 minutes out of a packet (Rations are actually much better now). Dogs, good people. Salute to all of you and thank you very much. I wish you a PROSPERO ANO NUEVO (From Colombia).

Some of my fondest memories are of those old Salisbury steak TV dinners and my Dad watching old TV shows together. Thank you for doing this recipe! It brings me back...
@@Peter7966 , From Wikipedia: James Salisbury 1823-1905) was an American physician and chemist known for his advocacy of a meat-centered diet to promote health, and the term Salisbury steak for a ground beef patty served as an entree has been used in the United States since 1897. Today, Salisbury steak is usually served with a gravy similar in texture to brown sauce, along with various side dishes. It is a common item in supermarket frozen food sections. Dr. Salisbury recommended this recipe (somewhat different from modern Salisbury steak recipes) for the treatment of alimentation (digestive problems): Eat the muscle pulp of lean beef made into cakes and broiled. This pulp should be as free as possible from connective or glue tissue, fat and cartilage...previous to chopping, the fat, bones, tendons and fasciae should all be cut away, and the lean muscle cut up in pieces an inch or two square. Steaks cut through the centre of the round are the richest and best for this purpose. Beef should be procured from well fatted animals that are from four to six years old. The pulp should not be pressed too firmly together before broiling, or it will taste livery. Simply press it sufficiently to hold it together. Make the cakes from half an inch to an inch thick. Broil slowly and moderately well over a fire free from blaze and smoke. When cooked, put it on a hot plate and season to taste with butter, pepper, salt; also use either Worcestershire or Halford sauce, mustard, horseradish or lemon juice on the meat if desired. Celery may be moderately used as a relish. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salisbury_steak

Mr. Kent My name is Dana Doan, I love your videos so much. You are what seems to me to be a kind loving and thoughtful man thank you for what you do. I don’t know if you know this or not, but there are as many civilian worker that are in the war zones being exposed to the same dangers as the military they support. These people don’t get any of the support after they get back as the military,as they are on there own after they get home. I know this because I spent 6 years in Iraq supporting a military unit dealing with the same bombs and danger they did. But no one knows we exist. People always thank the military as they should but the expats serve also.
I wish I could give you a hug someday. I see you prepare things I spent decades learning to do by trial and error, then pick out a few choice tidbits from your version which were what I'd missed all along. Thanks for some of the best, most relaxing, most engrossing cooking videos EVER to grace my screen. Thank you, sir.
I love having the people in the background talking it makes it seem really down home and Country rather than the shift just talking to himself it almost makes it like you're there with him
I like how Kent is always sending a salute to the service men and women who serve in the military and the front line workers who have helped a lot of people during this pandemic and even before the pandemic started.
I love how you guys take a moment to thank Veterans and Police Officer at the end of your videos. I am a veteran of (USMC) Desert Sheild/Storm and have 24 years as Federal Police Officer. You guys should start a patch board in camp. Give us an address to send patches and challenge coins to and I would bet you guys would get bunches.
Thank you Mr Kent for this INCREDIBLE meal!! 💕🙏🏼 I grew up eating those tv dinners too. My Dad was my baby sitter, he was born in 1920 and that was my most memorable moment, with him. Thank you for making this video 🙏🏼
Enjoy the channel very much, your enthusiasm is infectious. Thanks for the veteran and covid fighter shoutout. 15 yr veteran US Air Force and 23 years as a registered nurse for the VA, dealing with veterans with covid while losing my father to it back in 2020 ( a veteran also). Be well!!
LOL I remember as a kid growing up late 60's and 70's I was more interested in if the dinner had tater tots or that apple desert I knew what I liked😆 I still got my mom's plastic TV trays and her wooden ones from the 80's.
We had the folding metal TV trays that stacked up. The aluminum trays made in the oven. Black and white tv on. Came out so hot you spilled the milk 🥛 on the TV tray trying to cool off the roof of your mouth.
@@tomtheplummer7322 Mine are definitely 70's with a floral pattern, plastic, they fold up and have their own cart. The wooden ones you have to be careful because one set of legs has a brace across it and one set doesn't so you can get your legs under it, they are heavy but stable, I prefer them to the plastic ones those are for company I really don't want for company.
I wish i was born in the earlier generation, when the times were simpler, there were about three tv programs and the tv dinners were amazing. Thank you for the video, good Sir. This whipper snapper will try this out!

Why wait? This pandemic is a fraud. It's the flu. That's what's wrong here in America. We're listening to people that mean us ill will. There are literally thousands of health professionals blowing the whistle on this and most wouldn't know because TV news doesn't show it. I find it interesting that 80-90% of news channels funding comes from the pharmaceutical industry. Take your vacation, enjoy life, stop giving in to medical tyranny
@@justpassingthrough3166 So apart from those select few whistle-blowers, 99 % of health professionals in the whole world are in on a worldwide conspiracy to trick us that there's a pandemic? And for what reason? And who's behind it? I promise, it's real over here in Europe too.
@@torkelsvenson6411 no there are hundreds of thousands worldwide sounding the alarm. But if it's not a TikTok video of dancing nurses or on the News that lies 24/7 you wouldn't know because they censor and erase truth. I know three MD's that have lost their licenses for speaking out. Now tell me, what do you think this says to others that see this. That's the problem, someone tell's a lie big enough, strong enough, and people will believe it because they can't fathom the breadth and scope of the lie. Coronavirus isn't fake. There is something making already sick people sicker and then sometimes die. But overall what is happening is a fraud. It's a takeover. Mom and Pop shops have to close but Amazon and Wal-Mart can stay open? FOLLOW the the money.
@@justpassingthrough3166 I don't have TikTok. And maybe it's so simple that the people you know lost their license because they were spreading misinformation, the same way Andrew Wakefield lost his license due to his lies about vaccines? Once again, who is the force behind this "lie"?

This is true, and chewing on your monitor is frowned upon by management.

I watched this video after having eaten my dinner. And now I'm hungry all over again!
Bring a sandwich.... nothing like making your own lunch .
Making this for my dad tonight! He works 7 days a week and it's cold out. This sounds like a good meal for a cold night. Thank you, sir!
Hope you all enjoy and Thank you for watching
Love Kent and Shan, great that they are on today. Soul lifting.
Thanks Jennifer
Love this! Please Kent, if possible do more full meal recipes like this or just making full meals in general. I think it would be popular
Sounds good
What a great way to intro the show instead of disparaging food companies. Kent is a humble man
Thanks for watching, I have eaten many of them Hungry man meals and will always have at least one in the freezer
@@CowboyKentRollins my dad was the same way
That looks like some FINE DINING it does! I have never cooked Salisbury steak before, I have always wanted to after seeing this it will be served this weekend in my home. Thank You Kent and Shannon for keeping our mouths watering and funnybone tickled.
Hope you enjoy and Thanks for watching
Ole Bertha is a great lady she can always get the job done😁
It's Thursday morning here in Australia 🇦🇺 and I always look forward to Thursday mornings when your videos come out on UA-cam.
Morning! We thank you for watching
I’m 34 and was raised by my Dad. He wasn’t too much of a cook, but boooooy did he serve up some DELICIOUS HungryMan Salisbury Steak!
I don’t know how to cook bc I have no clue where to start but your videos have so inspired me! As soon as I get the money, I’ll invest in a proper cast iron and get to work😁
Glad to help
I made this whole supper last Sunday night and invited friends too. It was my first time to try this recipe. It was a great success! Thank you! BYW - When I was buying meat in our local ranchers meat store I invited the others in the shop to go find you on UA-cam. I told them they could try anything you make and they will love both the food and you!
Makes Me Want To ShOUT...Cowboy Kent RolLins@ The Grocery Stores, He's Americana!!
My wife and I made this for dinner earlier this evening. It was really good and our teen boys asked for it in the regular rotation.
Thank's Kent! 👍🇺🇲
Rotation?
Got my first footed cast iron dutch oven over the holidays. I will be creating coals & beginning to try all these recipes soon! Thanks for the inspiration and all your positivity Kent & Shan! The world needs more good folks like y’all.
That land looks so peaceful. Like simpler times.
This would hands down have to be the most enticing TV dinner I've ever seen. 😎👍
Great memories. I love making brown mushroom gravy, with red wine of course! Thank you; Cowboy Kent!
Cooking is from the heart and tastebuds! I love your cooking style!
Mr. Kent
My name is Dana Doan, I love your videos so much.
Kent is the Bob Ross of cooking.
Thanks Doug for watching
I loved these growing up. Salisbury steak was one of my favorites! Thanks to Kent, Shan, The Duke, and The Beag!! Love you all and your channel!
Glad you enjoyed it
I love having the people in the background talking it makes it seem really down home and Country rather than the shift just talking to himself it almost makes it like you're there with him
I love your recepies Mr. Kent. Stay strong!!!
I could listen to Kent all day. He is an excellent story teller and cook.
Thanks for watching
TV dinner, a creation of Post-WWII consumer culture. Always has a place in our hearts.
Thank you for your service!
Came for the cooking, stayed for the entertaining and positive attitude of the host. Thanks, from Tx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Mr Kent for this INCREDIBLE meal!! 💕🙏🏼
I grew up eating those tv dinners too.
My Dad was my baby sitter, he was born in 1920 and that was my most memorable moment, with him.
Thank you for making this video 🙏🏼
Thanks for watching
Enjoy the channel very much, your enthusiasm is infectious. Thanks for the veteran and covid fighter shoutout. 15 yr veteran US Air Force and 23 years as a registered nurse for the VA, dealing with veterans with covid while losing my father to it back in 2020 ( a veteran also). Be well!!
LOL I remember as a kid growing up late 60's and 70's I was more interested in if the dinner had tater tots or that apple desert I knew what I liked😆
I still got my mom's plastic TV trays and her wooden ones from the 80's.
Yep good times for sure
We had the folding metal TV trays that stacked up. The aluminum trays made in the oven. Black and white tv on. Came out so hot you spilled the milk 🥛 on the TV tray trying to cool off the roof of your mouth.
@@tomtheplummer7322
Mine are definitely 70's with a floral pattern, plastic, they fold up and have their own cart.
The wooden ones you have to be careful because one set of legs has a brace across it and one set doesn't so you can get your legs under it, they are heavy but stable, I prefer them to the plastic ones those are for company I really don't want for company.
@@tomtheplummer7322 Memories.......memories......😊🤗
I just cooked the Salisbury Steak, your way, it was awesome. Thanks
One of my most favorite meals it is
The only difference between this and the real TV dinner is that I actually want to eat this.
I wish i was born in the earlier generation, when the times were simpler, there were about three tv programs and the tv dinners were amazing.
Thank you for the video, good Sir. This whipper snapper will try this out!
Now THATS a TV dinner any man would be absolutely honored to devour!!!
COWBOY KENT ! YOU PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE ! I LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE & HUMOR -- DISTRACTS ME FROM ALL THE WORLD'S WOES HERE LATELY ! I ESPECIALLY LOVE TO LISTEN TO YOUR GREAT (OKLAHOMA?) ACCENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SAY, "BRING IT TO A B O L E." LOL. WE LIVED IN TULSA FOR 25 YEARS & RETIRED TO OREGON. THANKS TO YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT RECIPES (WHETHER i USE THEM OR NOT) I LOVE TO WATCH YOU COOK ! GOD BLESS YOU, MY BROTHER ! GOOD MUSIC TOO !
That meat looks so tender and full of flavor.
Great job!
I love watching this Guy. He seems down to earth.
Kent needs to hire a stunt man to perform those dance moves My favorite dance he did was the elbow after making guelosh
When this pandemic is over, I’d love to pick up my wife’s relatives in OKC and head south to the ranch for some culinary instruction from Mr. Rollins.
Take care. I can't wait to travel as well.
Awww, Kent Rollins is so adorable. I love watching his videos here on UA-cam, God Bless this Cowboy Cook 🍳 🙏🏼 🥰
One of my favorite meals, love your show, now on with the show,Gos bless you and tours
Thanks so much and God bless you
I know you’ll probably never see this but you remind me of my grandpa. He’s fallen ill recently and sadly I’m not quite sure if he’ll recover and if he does it might not be fully. He first introduced me to your channel because we both love cooking. He made your Tuna melt recipe and loved it and he walked me through the steps because I was curious. Thank you for letting me have that moment with him and thank you for helping him do what he enjoyed most, drink and cook
Hubby watched this episode then he wanted me to watch with him, he was almost licking the tv he wanted to taste along with Kent so bad! He made it tonight and oh my, it was off the charts amazing! We throughly enjoyed every thing with only one small dislike, a tad too much salt in the brownie so using unsalted butter next time should fix that. We'll be making this very often, thanks Kent
Thanks for watching Vicki and glad yall enjoyed
Beautiful southern hospitality and southern land it looks like heaven:-) god bless you all!!!
Thanks for watching and God bless you
That also brings back memories for me! My parents did grocery shopping on Sat mornings and we’d have fresh Italian bread along with an Authentic TV dinner on our folding tray tables watching TV together that night! My favorite was the sliced pork and veggies plus a brownie for dessert!... all American fast dinner!
Hey Mr Kent I'm sitting on my porch feeling lonely I lost my wife last October and I'm Ben's watching all your shows you a great dude and a wonderful cook thank you sir God bless you
an old favorite and a classic, and Kent put his magic spin on it. I will be trying it this weekend i think!
Hope you enjoy
Thank you, Kent, looks fantastic wish I had smell-a- vision. Can you imagine how many of those Salisbury steak TV dinners, have been sold over the years? The number has to be astronomical. looks like you're giving that Pioneer Woman up the road a run for her money. keep up the great work and kudos to Shannon with the camera work. Teamwork is the dream work! You folks always brighten my day God bless.
Thanks Kent and Shannon, as always a great recipe and an entertaining presentation 👍👍. I remember when these came out and made it possible for us to eat steak when the grocery bills wouldn’t allow us to get steak. Now they are selling this meal in a restaurant as a hamburger steak costing way more than you need to charge. Thanks for sharing with us your recipe and the secret to the mashed potatoes is in your cookbooks but don’t tell anybody 🤗. Hats off to you all. Fred.👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Fred for watching
Hi Kent, I am so glad to find someone of my "era" who remembers how "TV Dinners" were and still have fond memories of savoring them in front of the TV watching cartoons and/or Mickey Mouse Club in the early days of traditional TV. Thank you for the memories and the succulent recipes, Ciao, L
That looks so good, I will be making some soon.
My Grandma fried up a little bacon just like you, but then she put some chopped onion in the bacon grease for a bit before she opened a quart of her green beans and added it to the pan.
Sounds great!
Love how he made an improved version without once making fun of the original and actually praising it.
Kent you are my favorite chef, inside or outside you're tops. I'm all about this recipe for Salisbury Steak. Yum Yum!!
I appreciate that
I’m so glad I found this guy he makes me smile every time I watch him, thanks
You know the foods good when the recipe calls for “bout that much” 😂
