- The George Benson story. This week, we're doing a deep dive into George Benson's groovin' jazz playing. He started as a kid, and never stopped! Kindly like and subscribe - it really helps this channel a lot. I do appreciate it!

Such an amazing talent. Loving these videos.
Thank you Paul! George is a beast on that guitar!
Some if his guitar playing is mind blowing..
George is a great player - he became much more known for his singing and songwriting, maybe a bit for the scatting as well which is pretty cool - but when he gets down and plays jazz, he's one of the best.
I remember a video of him on roller skates playing guitar. He is amazing. I want to play like this one day
I remember that video too now that I think of it. That was a long time ago! Benson picking eludes a lot of players... I've tried it myself, but I don't know his hand is from another planet or something. But I do like this horizontal approach - that definitely has to make picking easier at least to a degree by spreading the scale notes horizontally across the fretboard as opposed to playing up and down a pattern shape - he says the picking hand doesn't get as confused. Definitely something to that.
@@guitarmeetsscience have you seen Jared James Nichols? Man he is one to keep an eye on. Have a great week brother
@jeffunderwood6235 I have not I will have to check him out! Thanks for the recommendation and have a great week brother!
@jeffunderwood6235 lmao You have to send me down another rabbit hole don't you.... Haha, hoping for not too many meetings at work today because this is going to be cranked in the cans. 🤘🤘 Dude kind of reminds me of Jack White - similar grit but I have to say more chops for sure. Great singing voice too. Damn!
Great fitting review of George Benson's story and musical development. Thanks for including so many close-ups of his left and right hand playing techniques. It was also interesting to see his thumb technique on some of the clips you showed. Great job with the overall video, it's appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I'll be the first to admit that I was a bit bummed out that this one hasn't done as well as the others considering that George is such a legend and his technique is so interesting. You made my day with your comment and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
@@guitarmeetsscience 👍Keep up the good work! Thanks again....
Didnt Know That,Interesting,Alot of Hits Under Him,I Didnt Know alot Of That,Watched One Below the Other Day,But i went to Leave a Comment and didnt ,Hey Rockin Hippies Show,I Know Whos Music That Is,Awesome Jimmy,Keep Rockin, 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Thank you so much Rebel! George definitely cranked out a lot of hits! Guitar players have been trying to figure out how he managed to pick the way he does, I'm hoping this video dispels some of that. I appreciate you checking it out and it was great to see you over there! 🤘😎🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
AMAZINGLY Magnificent ! UP ON HIS OWN MUSICAL MOUNTIAN PEAK !!
Beautifully said - Stevie was at a whole other level!
While I really appreciated Rick Beato's recent interview, it was great to see another perspective. Learning he was booed at RAH for losing his voice was heartbreaking. Personally, I would love to see him in an all instrumental concert. What can I say? The general public can really suck and disrespect great musicians. I felt like the luckiest guy alive a few weeks ago seeing Pat Metheny second row/center -- unfortunately, the four people directly in front of me in the first row talked through the whole concert as if they were in a saloon.
Thank you so much for that excellent take on George Benson. I couldn't believe he got food by such a shallow crowd. You are absolutely right when it comes to the way the public sometimes perceives the music. I can imagine the frustration having such a great seat for Pat Metheny only for people to be gabbing through it the whole night. They really don't know what they're missing. Thanks again - I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate the kind words!
Wow, Pittsburgs frank Gambale
Haha nailed it!!!
Cheap members of the audience walked out.
You nailed it - I just can't fathom them walking out on such a legend, especially when he was going to break into some instrumental. I would have loved to have seen that!
