Looks nice. I would recommend that u: 1) use an electric wish! 2) fold the egg white into the batter...not the other way around 3) grease the sides of the baking pan or add baking paper to sides to allow easy removal 4) once the batter is in the baking pan...drop it a few times against your counter top to get rid of air bubbles. 🙌
J T Do it by hand, burn some calories. And greasing a baking form you’re about to steam? Really? And then dropping to get rid of airbubbles ... the whole idea is to keep the airbubbles to make sure it’s fluffy and light, not to get something that resembles a brick.
mike74em JT is correct about tapping it a few times to get rid of air bubbles. It’s for aesthetics on the outside. You don’t tap it to the point where you break all bubbles. The meringue is stable enough once you fold it into the batter. This is done often in baking.
I think she showed whipping the egg whites by hand to show that this recipe is really easy to make without fancy equipment or ingredient (such as cream of tartar for the meringue). Because this creator's main audience are Filipinos and not a lot of household has electric mixers (unless they bake a lot) Also, with sponge cakes like these, it is not recommended that you grease the sides. The cake is delicate and soft and it would need something to grab on for a nice rise. But ofc you can definitely oil the botton then add some parchment.
J T I heard that it’s better to not get rid of bubbles when using whipped egg whites. But yeah, folding the egg whites into the batter instead of the other way around forces you to not mix them too much, so you’ll preserve some fluff!
I just made this today! Best cake I've ever made! I'll start using a steamer more often for cakes. I would say it took me an hour for my cake to be ready! Thanks so much!

Right?! I would never in my life try such a high cholesterol, high fat, sodium, starch and gluten artery clogging gut busting cake for the taste? Nah Im good.. Show me the healthy option thank you.
i agree but if u don’t want to put on weight then don’t eat it. simple. there is not always a ‘healthy’ option, and i think all of the healthy options are kind of stupid because if you are going to eat something sweet you might as well not compromise on taste so if you really want to eat it, just eat it and be confident with your body.

My sister does that. Personally, I boil the unopened can of condensed milk for an hour to caramelize it. It’s supposed to be a pie filling but I eat it right out of the can. Yum!
@@cryipticcreep5586 I don’t believe that the temperature matters, but I brought the water to a medium boil, then dropped the can in and let it boil for an hour. I learned this from my daughter-in-law who worked at Ruby Tuesday’s. If you like their caramel pie, this is how they make the filling.

This looks good! Might adapt this to make a tres leches cake
I was thinking the same. 😁
Or angel food cake 😋
Ooh that sounds like a great idea...
I'm thinking you make some dulce de leche and line the bottom of the pan with it before steaming. :D
Thirstae For Tae that’s exactly what I was thinking! 😋
I just made this today! Best cake I've ever made! I'll start using a steamer more often for cakes. I would say it took me an hour for my cake to be ready! Thanks so much!

Genevieve Ferguson-Peña that sounds awesome! Tell us how it turns out please
@AshLeigh Chand newsflash: ur an ass lol
This would be easy to cook in the instant pot as well. Delicious with fresh strawberries. Might make one for my Mom today for Mother's Day.
sweetboo1022 I was just thinking the same thing, but would the cooking time be the same?
I love how all her cakes look alike. Fluffy, soft, and yummy!
I didn’t even look for this. But I shared it with my wife, she made, I ate it with my mouth😋
A recipe perfect for my broke ass. Is fairly cheap. Just in time for mother's day in my country
Condensed milk a tad pricey...
@@robbiebunge859 if like 1$-no more than 2$ a can is pricey in your books I wanna know what else you think is too expensive 😂
@@robbiebunge859 not in my country, one can is enough for this recipe and it's like 25 pesos (one dollar)
Coditaaaa 😂

This did just come up in my feed, but I'm so glad it did. I'm getting the ingredients to make it today because it looks incredibly delicious.
80 lbs later: You can come out of your houses now.
Right?! I would never in my life try such a high cholesterol, high fat, sodium, starch and gluten artery clogging gut busting cake for the taste? Nah Im good.. Show me the healthy option thank you.
So Stop eating, easy!
i agree but if u don’t want to put on weight then don’t eat it. simple. there is not always a ‘healthy’ option, and i think all of the healthy options are kind of stupid because if you are going to eat something sweet you might as well not compromise on taste so if you really want to eat it, just eat it and be confident with your body.
Catt D I tried to be sarcastic, but...ok...
Ju Burlm I agree with your comment but I didn’t actually see it until now. I was commenting to Kim Keenan
Looks very tasty. Might just have to give this a go being in isolation and all that
Tried this recipe today and it turned out nice.
The only hard part is whipping the egg white...thank you very much for this recipe.
Love from Nigeria.
That egg separator’s hella cute! 😭✨

Why does *this* have to pop up in my reccommended section during Ramadhan?I'm actually getting hungry from looking at this.
Eid cake, maybe? Besides, everyone has sweets during Ramadan. I think, I might make it for Friday and I NEVER make cakes from scratch.
@@Goldphool Not a bad idea.

How to win the heart of a Brazilian: "condensed milk".

Why is condensed milk associated with Brazil?
@@holczy0 here it's commom to eat condensed milk straight from the can

Did u use 1/4 cup of butter ? Coz in the video doesn't look like she's using 1/4 cup. Way lesser
@@chentajana2022 I did use 50g of unsalted butter.
Came for the cake...ditched the video and headed straight for the comments when I saw the yoke separator! 😂Where do I get that??
Amazon
U can use water bottle also to separate the yolk
@@aminabegum2366 i wanna use a chickens butt hole for that, thank you

Ended up in my easy chair just straight sipping the condensed milk.
Yum
No you didn't, why'd you stop?
@@bp7792 too...delicious lol
My sister does that. Personally, I boil the unopened can of condensed milk for an hour to caramelize it. It’s supposed to be a pie filling but I eat it right out of the can. Yum!
@@gaileybird mmm...how long? what temp? Gonna try it.
Made this cake with my bro today and it was absolutely to my liking. It's not overly sweet. Just nice. Thanks for sharing this recipe. 😊
I should be sleeping right now, but instead, I'm watching this lol

I’ve decided to make this for my birthday this year. Won’t let Corona virus ruin my 19th birthday.
Update: Today is my birthday. I tried baking the cake. Not sure how it’ll turn out because I completely messed up the egg whites portion. I didn’t know it would be hard to mix the egg whites until it peaked and now my hand aches. Hopefully my birthday cake turns out okay.
This recipe is really great! I followed EVERYTHING and baked it at 180°C for 25 minutes and it was perfect! Guys please don't hesitate to try her recipe! You won't regret it!
Great to hear! Thanks KC :)
Does it taste like yema cake?

I tried making this and it came out really nice! However I had to steam it for almost 2 hours
I have made this recipe two ways, steamed and baked. Steamed was much better. Thank you so much for such a simple and delicious recipe!!
I will try this. It's probably extremely sweet though
Tell me how it goes
You could use a lemon glaze to add some tartness to it if it’s too sweet
Can this be done in a rice cooker instead of steaming? My mouth is watering. 🤤🤤
yes darling, please use the rice cooker steamer😊 Enjoy❤
Can it be done in an oven instead?
