They actually captured Mike Tyson's fighting ability quite well. He's ferocious at start, but he's not made for stamina. The longer the fight goes on, the weaker and slower he becomes.
5:30 - that moment when Mike cracks himself up and James looks at the camera laughing is one of the funniest moments ever.
That annoyed the help out of me.
I feel it's way more intense to beat him after going through the entire game. It really puts the pressure on you.

it's like I've seen the impossible happen. But.....how about this..... do you think you can beat Mike Tyson using the power glove? or at least get him down one time? I don't think that has ever been done....or at least shown on video.

007-373-5963, that is the code to go straight to Tyson. I entered it so many times that I can still remember the damn code instantly some 28 years later.
So was that the code that they used in the beginning?
+Corey Cavalier 777-807-3454 (Piston Honda, 2nd fight. Dad and I were stuck on Sandman and Super Macho Man for a while).
I committed that code to memory as a kid. 20+ years later and I can still recall it at any time.

Seeing those three hanging out and playing games together actually portrays James and friends in a light that we rarely see with the Nerd videos. Really natural, and reminds me of how my friends and I used to hang out and play games together.

And that is why I love video games. That high you get when you completely wreck an impossible boss.
Not really close to impossible, I beat this when I was a kid. I loved the game and learned the patterns for every fighter, including Tyson. It's actually pretty easy if you have fast enough reflexes and know what to expect.

I remember when this game first came out in '88 and I played it so many times trying to beat Mike Tyson. He must have beaten me 100 times until FINALLY one night when I should have been in bed for school the next day, I knocked him out! :) My reaction was quite similar to Mike's here on the video.
Yeah, I can relate to Mike's reaction, here. I've only managed to beat Mike Tyson one time and I felt like I'd just won a bout with the actual Mike Tyson.
The only way this video could be more awesome is if Mike Tyson himself made an appearance.
I imagine him looking in from a half open door saying something like, "Look, guys. I been hearin' whatcha' sayin' in 'dere and, quite franktimoniously, I don't like it one bit."

Wildassassn nah man he is right about ng3. no continues. i would venture to say ng2 is easier than ng1.
NG3 was way easier than NG1&2, NGblack was hard but fair, NG2 was just cheap as hell.
I love how Bootsy is just sat back, chilling and clapping, whereas Mike and James are leaning forwards in excitement! Bootsy is truly a god.

What i used to do when i was a kid was to lower his health to a minimum on round 1 without knocking him down. That way i could do a quick knockdown on the 2nd round, giving me time to do 2 more knockdowns for the TKO win.
Smart idea.

That code, 007-373-5963, has always been the test of my long-term memory. The day I forget that number is the day that I have to go to a doctor and probably be diagnosed with Alzheimer's. That, the Konami Code, my birthday, and my first name are things that I will always remember unless something goes horribly wrong.
Danny over at Gamegrumps beat every last fighter and almost beat Mike at one point, but then got his ass handed to him :P
I used to beat Tyson pretty easily when I was a kid. I'm 40 now. I honestly had more trouble with super macho man than tyson. I remember this one time, a friend tried hooking up the NES to his VCR with the AV cables to record me beat Tyson. I beat him, but of course it didn't record it. Thank you so much for bringing back some great memories. Now back to my shit life :\

What a classic even though I'm only 17.... I have a "Nintendo Play Choice 10" arcade machine and as long as I could remember I could never beat the Hippo guy, but seeing you guys play this I think I'll plug it in again. Too cool.
I had that same problem back in the early 90s. After you do it the first time, it will take you about a minute to beat him every time following.
When his belly button tape is exposed, body punch it, then go to the head.
Actually, you sock King Hippo in the face when he raises his hand over his head to hit you. That causes his pants to fall down, exposing his taped X on his belly button. Keep hitting that until he pulls his pants back up. Repeat until he loses all of his life, then he will go down permanently. He doesn't get up from a knockdown.

I only beat Tyson once when I was a kid. It took a whole lot of timing and luck but I finally did it. I got the Mr. Dream Punchout on Wii U for .30 cents earlier this year and can't get past Super Macho Man. This fight is probably one of the most nerve wracking fights in video games due to so little room for error. I'm surprised he managed to get back up so many times.

This used to be one of my favorite games as a kid. At age 32 I still remembered the password to get to Mike Tyson. The sign of a good game is when I'm just watching Mike and James play and I realized I was on the edge of my seat and getting more anxious as the fight went on. Lol Brings back so many memories...

It's not a matter of just not getting hit, you have to time every punch perfectly to inflict the most damage. It definitely is possible as I've seen it happen, just never by me :)

Haven't seen this is 6 years. This was the video that inspired me to get back into gaming.
I don't think anyone would get up after being knocked down by Iron Mike more than twice. I watched his fights ,he dealt just pure punishment.
He also uses up all his energy early on. The game is decently accurate with that. He's brutal at the start but tires himself out quickly.

Nikolai Belinski lmfao okay man.. whatever you say.. Tyson was a beast of a fighter and his rib to jaw combo was a guaranteed knock out. doesn't matter if you're scared or not, he had enough power to take down pretty much anyone. courage doesn't stop a fist from connecting with your face.
I almost beat Tyson by decision, but the computer chose him as the winner when knocked him out 3 times, and he only knocked me out twice. I got robbed.
The very end of that is such a golden moment.
