Mike Tyson fighting aliens in space? Pah! What's next? Michael Jordan playing basketball against aliens in Looney Tunes land?
+Daniel Renard
^This^
+Daniel Renard well who else could Mike Tyson challenge ? I guess they thought fuck it aliens
+Daniel Renard HEY.Don't you dare mock space jam!
It's anime perfection,freakin weaboo
+Pac Fan it's not anime
kris198921 Yeah.It's hardcore anime.Freakin weaboos
"This is going to be BOXING in space, f you" 😂😂😂
xD lol
+SupaNintendoGirl
The original is a 10 and this is a 0.
+Alejandro Cardenas thank you 😊
Honest Red My bad! XD
The Viper Of Death After my stupid midterm that is today! Then I will be back :)
I remember hearing someone talking about the punch out sequal when I was young really young like eight or nine, how it was going to have Mike Tison as the main character and takes place in space. After a while I figured it was someone making stuff up or that I was remembering things wrong. Then like twenty years later I learned that game was real, and I wish it wasn't.
I'm amazed that Mike dissed Super Punch-Out, I thought it was a great sequel. You should definitely make a video of it and give it another chance, especially since James hasn't played it.
+PeyserConley X Best game ever, great fun and a challenge!
My thoughts exactly. Punch Out is great, but Super Punch Out improved on everything and then some.
I love it, too: the common complaint is that Super Punch-Out is too easy.
It really was great. The only time Nintendo did better on a non "main" franchise sequel was with Fzero on GC imo.
Midas I want all my Sprite transparent. Even if its one of those flavored ones. lol
I actually liked SNES Punch Out as well as the newer one for Wii.
Both great games. All of the three!
Everybody does these guys are not remembering correctly.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't just Tyson's contract expiring.
I'm sure the rape conviction also was a factor in Nintendo removing his from the game.
+kws2534
Except that it happened two years before Tyson was convicted.
i don't think it's comfortable for them to mention it.
+kws2534 Unofficially it was part of the reason, but Nintendo will never admit it, because they want to keep their "Family Friendly" image.
When it comes to Punch Out, the Mr Dream-version was out long before Tyson was convicted. But it's possible that it was a factor in not getting Tysons endorsement for Power Punch like originally planned.
+sclwa85 Yeah, plus he lost the title while the game was in development.
this could have been an Angry Video Game Nerd episode. either way still a good James and Mike episode.
+gurvmlk a craptasic version of Rocky's training on the SMS at that
No way, he'd have do all the punch out games to have enough to do an episode. Even then this is the only bad one
+MegaXZeroForever Not enough to work with.
How the fuck can you call Super Punch-Out crappy? Geez
+Axilur Because it's transparent. :3
+Horzuhammer These guys have the craziest reasons they don't like games. Super Punch Out is soooooo good.
+Axilur Mike loves to complain about shit he knows nothing about.
+Axilur Because it's not in their comfort zone of nostalgia. Same reason why they don't give a shit about the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.
+CuppaKofe What's there to know about? Its preference and nostalgia. If he says he thinks its shit then it means he thinks its shit. There isn't anything to know. :P
Dude you guys need to give Super Punch Out another chance. That game is a freaking classic. Punch Out on NES is my favorite game on the system, but I would argue that Super Punch Out is even better.
uhhhhhhh Super Punch Out is one of the best games on the SNES
Mike, how can you say that Super punch out sucks?! You were going on about how megaman did it right. And guess what. Super is like the original remake. Almost identical gameplay with better graphics. You should try it out again.
"Why couldn't they just make it like the other games?"
Right here is the biggest hypocrisy in video game consumers. If someone makes the same exact style of game multiple times, people start to criticize the devs for lack of originality. If the devs take a series and decide to try something new and different, people lash out and bash them for changing things (see Metroid: Federation Force).
***** Federation Force still isn't even out yet and people were completely unreasonable about it, going so far as to make petitions for cancellation.
But I don't just mean bad games obviously, people tend to get angry at change simply because it is different.
+Kyle Hughes devs have to balance making the game similar enough for fans to be a legit sequel but different enough to be fresh.
making a poorly thought out sequel like this and going "yolo let's stick it in space" cause no one wants to think = rage from fans.
now i know nothing about fed. force but usually those cases are about fans concerned that a radically new style/gameplay will be an unfit sequel (sequels are different than spinoffs mind you) vs. franchise loyalists who will buy and defend anything with their character on it. its not really about "oh they changed it a bit im mad now" thats just ridiculous
buuuuuuul shit.
Game sequels are supposed to be basically exactly the same, but with new levels, a new story, and some new items.
Now instead of quality sequels we get bull fucking shit DLC.
+Kyle Hughes I think his argument was kind of goofy, but we are talking about the NES so I guess its not entirely unreasonable. He lost me when he started talking about Zelda, but I could see what he means when he says that they shouldn't have screwed up the formula. Its not like this game was a radical departure for creative reasons. Its basically the same game, just worse.
+True Tree Radio no, that's what we used to call an expansion pack. It would be about 33% to 50% more game and it wasn't the missing part of the original game.
A good sequel should be updated and improved in every way but recognizable to what it's a sequel to.
"Who was Mr Dream? Not even a real person!"... like every other character in the game...
Notice the pads on his hands flashing in the training stage? I never played the game but I'm betting you're only supposed to hit that one each time rather than flailing wildly and complaining about it. That might help you get your strength up and make the game more fun to play.
Super Punch-Out!! was amazing and holds up extremely well. I am really shocked that James hasn't played it and that Mike didn't really like it. Super was probably my favorite. Learning all the secret ways to beat everyone fast and make them look like nothing was so much fun.
Man, you guys were salty in this episode.
to try to cancel out the sourness of the game
Lol yea but the game is Salty. Salty play on a Salty game.
+Rabid Rabbit Rabbi this game, what a piece of shit!
+WAR41 Mike's been with him for 10 years. Seems to be doing well.
+WAR41 Or maybe it's because James has a kid now and responsibilities other than entertaining assholes on the internet.
James and Mike Mondays is one my favorite series now along with Board James. These 2 series showed how much James is a true artist and not just a "NERD"...
Thanks for doing this.
wait a minute, have you guys not played punch out on the SNES? That one is really good
Guys, why don't you take the time to research this game before talking about it. I don't get it...
+Nomen Nescio So you think having a whole episode dedicated to see them react to the "sequel" to Punch-Out is fun? This is not made by nintendo... They didn't publish this game because they knew it was shitty. So if they got their facts straight they still could look at how well or badly others developers handled it.
+SonicShenmue I don't see how that changes things at all. It's still a crappy game that was supposed to be a sequel to Punch-Out! Why is it relevant if Nintendo published the game or not?
The show is they play games and talk about them. If its a bad game they'll probably talk about how bad it is, and just anything they may think or remember about it which may be wrong sometimes. Its not AVGN. Its not meant to be researched and scripted. Its two friends playing games. Yous a whiny bitch.
Super Punch-Out is one of the best Super NES games. It expands on the original, in every single way. It just never got the notoriety of the original.
Whoa Mike! Super Punch out and Punch Out arcade are not crappy what-so-ever!
During the training, you have to wait for the focus pads to light up. Then depending on which one lights up, you throw either a left or a right. I played this game a lot as a kid and it took me forever to figure it out. Once you do, the game isn't all that bad. The training portion is key otherwise you don't stand a chance
Mike said Super Punchout was crappy? I thought that was the best Punch Out game. It was difficult but it was do-able. Great characters, and I really like the look of the game also.
Super Punch Out was the shit you guys should give it another shot. It's known for being great
Bryan Letoile Power punch 2is another one of those celebrities fantasy games like shaq fu
Have you played Riddick Bo's Boxing for snes?
Bryan Letoile super punch out was awesome. It's surprising mike called it "crappy". Being from the same era I thought he'd appreciate the updated game. Especially since it had been 7-8 years in between sequels at that point?
Super Punch Out is dope, it would be nice to have 3 rounds to beat last couple of fighters
Super punch out on the snes is a fantastic game did you actually play it Mike? Each to their own opinion and all that but Jeez!
That's right.
I would love to see you guys play Fight Night Round 2 for the PS2, its a great boxing game
Dude Yes!! My brothers and I spent countless hrs with fights good memories!! Being a boxing fan I loved those games
+The Channel Fadge Round 4 is the best.
+The Channel Fadge Ever since 4 and Champion... I can't go back to the old games. Especially Champion, it was just too awesome.
+Connor Stafford Ive played some of the later ones, they made the game more balanced in later versions but I like being able to do endless haymakers really unrealistically in Round 2, and trying to see how many punches I can get in during the knockout so that they show up in the replay. They moved the focus to counters and stuff after 4 (IIRC), it probably made a better gameplay experience but I still think of Round 2 as the most fun
The Channel Fadge I'm just a big fan of the joy-stick punch controls they incorporated in 4. A lot of people I know hated that, but I totally prefer using the sticks over the buttons. And the counters kick-ass once you finally master leaning in those games.
Didn't Nintendo remove Mike Tyson from Punch-Out and replace him with Mr. Dream after he got in trouble with the law?
+Adam Brown no, his contract expired about 2 years before he was even put in prison
+Adam Brown Nope, his contract expired.
His contract expired and Buster Douglas had just knocked him out.
+Adam Brown Not only was his contract expired, but he lost the championship to Buster Douglas.
Yes, it actually was in magazines at the time. Video game ones.
I really like how the camera is focused on James and Mike, and slightly blurs the stuff on the shelves. Interesting perspective.
This whole episode was "FUCK THIS GAME I LIKE PUNCHOUT". Also, how the fuck do you not like Super Punchout? It's superior in every way to the original.
you guys are almost at 2 millions subs!!
Good news!! but they deserve way more than that :/
Yes they are pioneers on youtube plus Cinemassacre is a very original channel in terms of concept.
+Jota_95 of course they do, but older gamers vs. newer gamers, it seems there's just more new than old! I personally love both and have started a collection. :)
+PaulLouisTV After about 10 years.. DAMN
9:27 james like "omg mike, chill..."
Oh for fuck's sake guys... Training mode had flashing box guards! That should be quite obvious hint "BOX HERE!"
Play Donkey Kong Country
Anniversary coming up on Nov. 21st.
+Intimidation Yea 2 players.
+Intimidation that a good idea
I've been waiting to see them play that for a while now. Such a good game.
Yea they should play all 3 DKC games
+incredibleboy22 Agreed, I have the three of them on Super Nes and are great
Super Punch Out! for the SNES is awesome. It's the true sequel. You guys should give it a try next time.
There is so much here, why was this not a nerd episode?
+FNHot It is good nerd material :P Glad to see you like AVGN as well
FNHot You have commented on so many of my vids and we have had some nice conversations... so I instantly recognized your pic and name. :D
+Hunter of the North I love your videos, I think everyone should check them out if they like hearthstone.
FNHot thank you!
+Hunter of the North I love your videos too
They did go to the next guy. They made a game on Sega with Buster Douglas. Then they made Evander Holyfields real deal boxing which was actually pretty awesome for its time. Then they made a bunch of different games with George Foreman. Then they made a game called Greatest Heavyweights with 8 of the greatest Heavyweights in history starting with Jack Dempsey who was champion in the 20s. They also had Rocky Marciano which was awesome. Its actually my favorite boxing game ever.
Alright, Mike. I love your stuff and I really enjoy you on J&M Monday's most of the time, but I think the series would do well if you toned down the "It sucks / it's shit!" just a tad bit -- especially if its games where you're at a loss for where to go, which could be solved by looking at the manual (or a scan of it online) for the controls. A good example of this would have been in the Indiana Jones & the Infernal Machine video, where I'm sure the controls were listed for the inventory so you could have used an antidote much earlier instead of padding out the video with unnecessary complaining.
Bear in mind, I'm not defending a lot of the games you call shit, especially this one, but I feel like the videos would do well with just a bit more manual reading and a bit less complaining. That being said, this was still a great episode, and J&M Monday's is still something I look forward to each week so thank you for creating this wonderful content, and I really hope you'll take this comment into consideration. Thanks!
How can you say Super Punch Out for SNES is crappy?? That game is fucking great
I don't get Mike on this, Super Punch Out on SNES wasn't crappy at all. It was a vast improvement over the NES version in many ways.
Play Super Punch Out! It's a classic, too.
"Mike Tyson's contract expired." Sure, that's why Nintendo took him out.
I'm sorry Mike, but Super Punch-out!! For the Super NES is a masterpiece; it's just as addictive as the original on the NES. Just 'cause you can't see the main guy doesn't make it a bad game, besides the guy's see-through, it's not like he's completely invisible.
glad to see you guys are still going after all these years...keep it up! i love these videos.
Why do they talk about this game like it's some kind of official sequel?
It needed to be
Vojin gamer That's like saying Battle Of Olympus is Zelda 3.
MarginalSC OK,but again,it shares similarities with PunchOut.
Vojin gamer Battle of Olympus plays a lot like Zelda 2.
+MarginalSC
because it was intended to be one if not for the licensing issue and the whole rape prison thing.
woa, woa, woa, super punch out was the sh#T! I suggest you guys play that! but don't dis it until you played it!
I always thought everyone loved super punch out? that game was awesome!!
+chuckobscure really? hmm it's maybe cause of nostalgia I haven't played it in Years
I played super punch out on my favorite emulator site vizzed I loved it and since I'm 15 I know it isn't nostalgia because I beat both.
+chuckobscure Yeah, the original is way better. In Super Punch-Out, most of the new characters are crap, and you can't even win by judge's decision.
No fucking way. Super Punch is incredibly good! As is the original and the Wii version.
9763 Borg looks like The Borg from Star Trek
Super Punch Out and Punch Out on Wii are both superior to the NES version IMO
"Why didn't they pump out endless sequels to a timeless game?"
- MIke "good Ideas" Matei, 2015
Hey guys! Have you thought about playing (insert modern game here)?
* Gets a million angry replies from retro gaming fans
they hsould play new Punch-out and stop complaining how bad are old ones xD
I remember seeing a game called "Mike Tyson's Power Punch" for Super NES listed in one of those game store ads in the back of EGM in the early 90's.
It's strangely heartwarming to see James so excited about anything :D
James you should play super punch out. I thought it was really good. They took what made mike Tysons punch out good and made it better. Super punch out was a favorite of mine on the snes
James and Mike, let me tell you that you're missing out if you haven't played Super Punch Out!
It reminds me a lot of the really difficult hand-to-hand sequences against the bosses in the NES Punisher.
Like at least one other person here has said, check out Punch-Out on the Wii. It's very good, kind of like a remix of the original, with the same great gameplay (responsive controls and every enemy is like its own puzzle to figure out, with their own moves and tells). You guys would like it a lot.
*I may be reading between the lines, but I think that Mike REALLY loves this game!*
nigga stole my bike!
holy shit. Years ago I had just gotten home from school, and nobody was home, so I hopped on my bike, went to the video store (remember those?) and I rented this. I remember playing this when my brother and dad came in with a brand new super nintendo! Memories...
You guys should play Super Punch-Out. I know you mentioned it, but it's a masterpiece. I actually even prefer it over the original with all the stuff it added. It's EXACTLY the sequel Mike was talking about when Mega Man came up. Yeah, you're invisible and that's mildly distracting, but getting past that the game is absolutely amazing. I feel it did for Punch-Out what Super Mario World or Zelda: A Link to the Past did for their respective series, except it rarely gets that level of respect or fond nostalgia as those games.
Xeo7 i fucking love super punch out. it's such a fun game and it's full creative characters. it even introduced a fan favorite character, Aran Ryan. i feel like it gets too much shit just because it didn't have mike tyson and lacked many other characters. but what aggravates me most is when people bitch about barely any characters from before. super punch out in the arcade had NO characters from its predecessor. sorry for the rant.
Where's the special move where you chomp off a guys ear???
Luis Suarez knows the code.
+ronjon83 That's the biting shoulder move.
The game isn't garbage just because you didn't bother to learn how to play it. The training stages are there to level up your stats. You also can't just stand in one spot and punch like an idiot. Every opponent has a strategy to beat them just like in the original Punch Out. Difficulty doesn't equal a bad game. If you have really beaten the original Punch Out then you should know all this Mike.
Dude this game sucks
Super Nintendo Punch Out is really good, I dont know what Mike is talking about.
that space background when the level loud kinda remaind me the predator game lol
Better get your copy of Power Punch II now before the price goes up now!
Never heard of this game didn’t know existed
All I can say was interesting weird
Nothing like the other punch out games
Love Monday mornings! Great video as usual guys!
I love Super Punch Out. When I was a kid, and as a girl, I thought I wouldn't like Punch Out and Super Punch out, but they were both great :D
" In Space, No One Can Hear You Box"
Patterns that have to be figured out, fast reflexes and you've made the best game for Mike!
Used to play the arcade version at the skating rink back inna day, BODY blow! BODY blow!
Hee Hee! When James& Mike said More Power made me think of Christopher Walken as Zorin in A VIEW TO A KILL," Morah, Morah Powah..." I've been quoting that for years.....
I think Mike must have been drunk, Super Punch Out was a fucking awesome game. Totally one of my favourite Snes games.
wow this came early. 8.39 am.
1:41 a.m here
+Juffe I came early too
+Rick and Morty 12:55 in mexican
It's 10:52pm on Sunday night here.
OMG ALL OF OUR TIMES ARE DIFFERENT!!!
loved the energy you guys had in this one. :)
this video was great, u guys seemed to be having more fun than usual
Are you kidding me Mike?? Super Punch-out on SNES is decent. They even bought a few of the Arcade characters back like Bear Hugger and Dragon Chan.
nythepremier and introduced the fan favored Aran Ryan
Super punch-out is so good I can't take Mike's dismissal of it serious, it's like telling me super Metroid sucks. Game is very much universally known as a classic sequel, albeit often overlooked
Tyson lost his belt to Buster Douglas in 1990, and Douglas (who really did nothing else) actually DID get his own Genesis game. Which was actually just a renamed port of the arcade game Final Blow. Drastically different style.
they really should play Super Punch Out. I had fun with that one. the see through character was a bit of an upgrade since the arcade version had Mac as a wire frame.
Did you guys just call Super Punchout crappy?? Oh dude, no. Just no.
Guess we can't take mikes word on reviews, apparently he doesn't know a good game when he sees one
Wish they fucking looked at the comments still to this day they still have not played Super Punch Out.....
Did mike really call Super Punch Out crappy because of the see thru character perspective? what a dumb nitpick for an amazing sequel that is probably superior to the original and plus I always thought that idea was much better compared to being a hobbit fighting giants in Mike Tyson punch out.
Totally agree, Super Punch out is the greatest iteration.
aras muradi So true!
When Mike said "why they gotta go to space?", he sounded like Jerry Seinfeld.
Come on guys, play SNES Punch Out! Its one hell of a game. A lot of peoples favorite game...
Punch Out was an arcade game, I think it came out before Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Also he went to prison for rape, his name was worthless as a brand. He was dropped from everything.
Super Punch-Out was NOT crappy. Damn kids.
+Anthony Schwader I dare to say that Super Punch-Out is vastly superior to the original.
TerrionGaming Super Punch-Out is vastly superior to the original.
TerrionGaming I agree
This game however, was a steaming pile of shit
+Anthony Schwader (suprision) I guess it's not Nostalgic enough to them
There's a lot of passion in this episode.
Never noticed until now, but why does James hold the NES controller perpendicular to the floor up by his face? Most people hold them lower to their body and at an angle. Just curious
I only vaguely remember playing Super Punch Out and not really liking it, but Punch Out Wii is definitely a worthy sequel.
Super punch-out is incredible
+spf5Ø サイバーパンク Granted I was probably eight when I last played it but I remember it being way too difficult. Maybe its just because I sucked at games back then.
+TimmiT I actually have Super Punch Out, but I always sucked at it.
+TimmiT Super Punch Out is a GREAT game, highly recommend you go back and give it another try.
+Brandon Matson Actually NES Punch-Out is the "odd" one, SNES Super Punch-Out is very similar to both Arcade Punch-Outs, Wii Punch-Out is an in-between, using the PoV from Arcade and SNES and the Hearts and Stars system from NES.
Where is Doug
the mechanichs and the general feel of the fight reminds me of The Punisher when you have to fight with your fist against certain bosses
The music sounded so music like NES Star Wars to me. So I looked it up, and sure enough, same composer, Marshall Parker!
Super Punch Out was better than Mike Tyson's Punch Out
what the hell, do they hate on super punch out just because you are TRANSLUCENT? and because the perspective, and pretty much everything, is better?
I think a good idea for a cinemassacre video would be for James to review his music collection. He could talk about his favorite bands, records, performances ect. Being a metal fan, I would find that interesting
Punch Out was before Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I remember playing it in the arcade
Really? You didn't like Super Punchout? That game was fun a all hell! Wierd taste Mike.
Wow I just lost my respect for you guys!! Punch out on the SNES was fucking awesome!! True classic Nintendo players right!
It's just his opinion
can't believe mike thinks super punchout is crappy, its a great game. Not as good as the original mike tysons punchout but it still holds up on its own.
Mike looks like Burke from Aliens on this video, imo.
