The moment where Thrawn finally plays his hand is amazing as he has been building this up for so long. We realize he was never merciful to the rebels, he was only just being tactical so his eventual attack on the rebels could be ruthless and devastating

With all respect Sato, you are more useful to Rebellion alive. You should evacuate and let two pilots do the job.
Exactly- One pilot should have done the suicide run and the other forced Sato to come to the escape pod.

It was a well coordinated attack on Thrawn’s part. The only chance that the rebels would escape would be because Thrawn is surrounded by idiots

What the Bendu is exactly is pretty much unknown so far. He’s certainly an immensely powerful being and appears to represent the middle of the force. Sort of like the gray between the light and the dark. That’s also why there are a couple theories that he may be a reincarnation of the Father of Mortis from the Clone Wars (the old man who had the Son and the Daughter - the dark side and light side respectively), as they have many similarities.
Nah he stated he had been around a long time and the Father only died severeal years back. Bendu is what he said a being who follows the middle ground and thus can tap into both light and dark which is why he's so powerful
There are only 2 things that Thrawn's strategies are weak against: the unpredictable nature of the force, and being surrounded by idiots. Konstantine moving out of position and then dying really fucked up Thrawn's strategy by letting Ezra escape. Had Konstantine followed his orders to the letter, the large majority of the Rebellion would have ended right then and there, and the original trilogy would have ended up a lot more differently.
Thrawn has very little experience with Force users, even compared to other Imperials. The Chiss, for some reason, are not very sensitive to the Force. It only ever manifests in girls, and only in childhood. Most of them lose their connection by the time they are adolescents. So encountering Jedi is one of the most alien experiences for Thrawn.

Not Hobbie, he was only in Empire Strikes Back. But yeah pretty much every named rebel from the original trilogy appears in Rebels at some point
Three seasons down, one to go. The end of our Rebels journey is upon us.
This finale is so heart breaking. We’ve seen the Rebels work so hard to build their fleet for the last two seasons and seeing all their hard work get destroyed in front of you so quick is tough.
Bendu is basically a force god. Similar to the mortis gods.
I wouldn't call Bendu a force god, but he's like Anakin, a vergence in the force made alive. It appears he is also immortal or at least tied to the age of his planet.
Jedi training is, at best, stunted. They teach you to be emotionless, selfless yet blind to the pain of the masses. Their teachings were flawed.
Kanan didn't teach Ezra to be a Jedi, he taught him to be human. And that is far more valuable.
I wouldn't necessarily say that. From what I understand Jedi are taught to not have attachments, not to be emotionless. Attachments are not the same as emotion. Obi-Wan (who imo is the perfect Jedi), Yoda, heck even Windu clearly have emotions. They just always say "don't let emotions blind you", or "let go of your attachments" or something along those lines. That's not the same as "you literally cannot have a single emotion ever." They teach you to control your emotions, not eradicate them
@@hc-04 The problem lies between theory and praxis. In theory they should control their emotions and be compassionate, in practice however, they are simply removed from their (so to speak) humanity. They claimed to be guardians of the peace from their Ivory Tower while willfully ignoring the billions that sufered right beneath their feet and serving as the personal police force of a very corrupt and very flawed Republic for millenia.
What utter drivel. Jedi are trained to be selfless and compassionate; and willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and to help people. You couldn't be more wrong Liam.
I can’t say Sato is a favorite of mine but I was sad to see him go. At least he managed to give Ezra the opening he needed
The bendu is like a kind of avatar for the balance between the light and dark sides of the force.

Let's never forget that Emperor Palpatine created the very Rebels he's fighting, during the Clone Wars series. LoL. Ever since I saw that arc, I've never forgotten that.
Its a bit like Voldemort creating his own nemesis who will destroy him, in Harry Potter.
Bendu is another easteregg throwback to the earliest StarWars script.
In the early draft, the Jedi were called Bendu, and while they did have Lightsabres, they didnt wield the force...in fact there was no mention of the force at all. Aside of that, lightsabres were basically the weapon of choice for everyone. Even Stormtroopers. The Bendu were just really good fighters.
As far as I can tell the Bendu is a neutral manifestation of the Force... that's all I got.

also, while we'll learn a bit more about the bendu (and that was lucas's orginal name for the jedi i think the bendu), we don't ever really find out exactly what he is
it's a big galaxy, and there's just some weird mysterious stuff out there

Grand Admiral Thrawn doesn’t need The Force. He’s an intelligent blue skinned demon, dressed in white, with cold red eyes.
P. S. I love that everytime Thrawn is having one of those moments were he proves to be smarter then everyone else, you can hear his theme being played and its a grand pipe organ
Of course, Konstantine is to blame for the failure of Thrawns strategy, but it's Thrawns mistake too.
If you read the notes from his diary in the Thrawn book, you know that Thrawn is definitely aware of the psychological aspects of battles. But in this case, he forgot to think about this factor. He didn't think about the fact that his behaviour against Konstantine, basically always treating him like sh*t, could trigger him too much.
Another, more general weakness of Thrawn is that he never explains things first. He told the ships to hold position but he didn't told them why. He knew that the rebels would probably try to break a hole in the blockade to escape and maybe get reinforcements. If he would've actually explained that, Konstantine probably would've stayed on his position.
Thrawn once said to Vader that he doesn't like to tell others about his plans and theories, because if his theories turn out to be wrong, the consequences would be terrible. If this is actually true or if Thrawn only protects his ego might be a topic for discussions, but this time, his approach definitely lead to failure.
Not the first time konstantine fucked up. He pulled Vader's ship on accident during 2x2 with the tractor beam. Lol
Bendu is an extremely ancient creature that is very in tune with the Force. I almost like to think of him as a Force-Ent. A creature so connected with nature and the flow of the Force that anything outside of it doesn't interest him. To him, the Rebellion's fight is a small blip in time and the history of the Galaxy. It's insignificant to the totality of the Force from his perspective, therefore he doesn't see a purpose in interfering. neutral

Bendu is a Force being, (Not official term) just he's a part of the Force that follows the will of the Force. He's somewhat comparable to the Son, Daughter and Father from Mortis in Clone Wars.
Can't wait for the finale. RIP to Sato and the two pilots. Like how you keep predicting these episodes. Also for Bendu I believe he is a force sensitive being that been around for years and is neutral staying between the light and dark sides of the force. There are characters called Grey Jedi in legends who are neutral and do not make decisions based off the light nor the dark sides of the force. They aren't sith but are Jedi who don't follow all Jedi teachings.
I would've concentrated all attacks on the gravity generators and just gotten the fuck outta there let's be honest what could they have possibly done against that fleet

So cool you see you come this far w/ Rebels. But the best is yet to come. Watching this w/ my daughter growing up, it served as life lessons for her as well as calming my own fears when she left on her own for college (curiously it all coincided w/ season 4).

I love this episode! It's so awesome! Thrawn is incredibly smart and has a great plan. Sato's badass moment of sacrificing himself in order to help Ezra leave. Ezra going after Sabine!

There was a book about the time after the destruction of the 2nd Death Star where thrawn was leading the empire and the story was …different from episodes 7-9 … and better

I wish the writers hadn’t character assassinated Thrawn in order to give the Rebels a chance at the end of this episode. If you’ve read his books you know that he’s already had extensive experience with dealing with Imperial glory hounds and idiots like Konstantine by this point in his career. It’s entirely out of character for him to not see his insubordination coming. He’s consistently shown that he extensively researches the personalities and careers of everyone he works with and is always aware of their strengths and weaknesses when making decisions.
Timothy Zahn worked on Rebels, if he's fine with it, so should you be.
