How he had that emotional breakdown at that dusty empty lot next to the dumpster while confessing his sins to Shiv and Roman-that was a true masterclass in acting. He deserves all the awards for that.
He a stellar artist, truly one of a kind. Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
He told a story about preparing for that scene. He had read it and couldn't figure out how he was going to do it. He got so stressed, he went into his hotel room in Italy, where this scene was filmed, and put a "do not disturb" sign on the door. He just got more and more stressed trying to figure it out, he was emotionally exhausted. So, by the time they were filming the scene, he said that that experience ended up helping his crying breakdown.
I was mesmerized by that scene. The level of vulnerability that Jeremy brought to Kendall, seeing Kendall at his most broken, was nothing short of jaw dropping. I could feel his emotions so strongly, it was intense!
100% 👏❣
He was interested in acting from a very young age.

Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age.

He was promised it when he was 7.
I didn’t appreciate Jeremy Strong performance until I rewatched the show. All the subtle stuff he does is so good. It’s almost a requirement to watch the show twice to get the most from the experience.
He is such a talent 🎬😍 Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Daniel Day Lewis is his hero and you can really tell. its crazy the depth to his performance as Kendall, the attention to detail. it all feels so right and natural when you're watching but if you go back like you say and really pay attention to his performance you realize just how much work he has put into it
What an incredible smart actor Jeremy is. Kendall was for sure the most difficult part in Succession. Hope someday he will land a big role and I cannot wait to see him awarded with an Oscar.
This role will go down in history, he hit it out of the park 💥💥💥
I respect the man greatly. The power he commands with a facial expression is incredible. I don't think it's a method vs non-method thing. Whatever works for an individual actor is what works.
That is very true, what works for the individual artist is unique to them specifically. Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
YES! I agree.
I knew L to the OG wasn't rehearsed. You don't get that type of reaction from the rest of the cast. I bet Cox was really holding it in since he was in character.
Yeah you can def almost see him crack in the video, sooo funny
He is perfect, his preparation and commitment to the role has brought us the role of the decade, Kendall Roy is now at the same level of a Tony Soprano or Walter White. Congrats to Jeremy Strong!

What makes you an actor?
@@jasongreen6826 I went to college for theater. I have been doing it my whole life and i played John Merrick/Elephant Man in The Elephant Man last year and was Hal in the play Proof to name a couple. I am in the process of putting together a website now and I have a video reel with some footage from plays I have been in. A couple of weekends ago I took an online zoom class with the casting director of Blade Runner and Mean Girls, her name is Marci Liroff. That's it in a nutshell. I have wanted to pursue acting essentially my whole life. Oh also I was an extra on Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's third season.

Am binging Succession atm and am in love with Jeremy Strong. What an actor!
It’s suchhh a good show and he’s sooo good Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It is difficult not to be!
He's also one of the best dressed men I know. Damn, he's good-looking.
Succession's definitely drama. It's drama with comedy, like the Simpsons is a comedy with drama. People were saying the same thing about Breaking Bad, "it's a dark comedy." It has dark jokes but it's drama by its age-old definition.
Yes yes it is
Jeremy was also very good as Vinny in Big Short. I love him there!
He was soooo good in that 🦾
I know this is coming late; but, I just want to add myself to those who admire Jeremy Strong's commitment to his work. How an artist approaches his/her craft, I would imagine is a very personal, and immersive process. I'm sure that's true for every medium: painting, composing, writing, as well as acting. Some may be perfectly able to put on/take off a character, and give an outstanding performance; while others find what works best for them, is staying in character, and 'being' that character - even when not in a scene. Every artist has their own 'method'. Anyway; just my two cents. (And, in looking at your catalogue; I'm glad to be a new subscriber.) :)
This means a lot, thank you 🦾🦾
He is a great actor. Method acting was lawys interesting to me, it has a lot of cons and pros, but if it works - it works. Jeremy knows better than anyone how he can deliver best acting performances and he proves it time and time again - so there is nothing else for us to do than - be happy we get to see the end results.
He’s going to go down in history 🎬❤️ Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have such admiration for that man's talent, methods, intelligence, originality, authenticity, and depth.

Yea his facial expressions are heartbreaking on succession. Very raw.
Love Tom! He plays him brilliantly!
I really hope he gets all his well-deserved prizes and run the fuck back to therapy, we as audience just can't afford to lose good performances to depression and anxiety, we already got way more than our fair share of that with Heath Ledger and Robin Williams...
We’re all betting he does the same, because his performance is unmatched and definitely taking a lot out of him. Thank you for watching our video, your like and subscribe will allow us to keep bringing you more videos just like this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
What is interesting to me about those actors is, they were already fight so many personal demons, life itself is a huge enough weight.
Well as an actor myself, i must say he's right. This is the best way to make your character real. And it's not always easy to take your character off like an outfit when you leave the set. Brian Cox does it probably more easily as he's more experienced.
It really depends on the actor. I feel like whatever works for the individual is the right choice. Some actors feel they have to connect in this way and others don’t. The path of an artist is a very unique one 🎭🎬
Everyone has a different process. Some people work inside-out, others needs costume pieces (shoes, glasses, etc) before they really find the character. You get there the way that works best for you.
2:01 strong Connor Roy vibes. Acting but not politics.

@@Mollysanchezcomedian Tom is already perfect, he just needs the right person. Greg.
Jeremy Strong picked up right where Phillip Seymour Hoffman left off. Both actors are the best of their time!
Wooahhh, that’s a great comparison 🦾
Not to yuck your comment, but Hoffman, despite his troubles in life, seemed like a much more fun guy. There's a bit in the Magnolia making of (its called That Moment. It's here on youtube) where Anderson is 'taking the mick' out of Hoffman for his approach to a scene. 'This is how Phil would do it' and he does a bit where he stumbles around the set, pretending to overact. Both men are in knots laughing. Stong is a superb actor, but the issue seems to be he couldn't switch off in between takes. You get the impression he'd not be laughing as hard as Phil if Anderson was mimicking him. Again, not to yuck your comment, but the only comparison to be made is they are both great actors and unique looking. Neither guy looks like a 'movie star', but both guys are so captivating, you have to look when they do their thing.
it makes sense why they cast a Shakespearian actor to play Logan - this huge, almost mythical, larger-than-life figure, but similar to what we have already seen in other great TV shows. As for Kendall, this new type of insecure, vulnerable, erratic, deeply wounded, doomed-to-fail protagonist that we haven't yet had that much in popular TV or films, Strong's method acting is just perfect.
I enjoyed this video. I particularly enjoyed the way you talked down to me constantly.
??
What’s confusing? The writing in this video is steeped in contempt for the viewer.
I respect his commitment to his art because it is truly impressive but I would never put myself through that much pain for a role ngl and I would advise my colleagues to preserve themselves too
I started watching series one on dvd and nearly binned after episode one, such was the discomfort it gave me to watch this bunch of loons as a family. But I stuck with it and am totally addicted to it now. Strong is very very good and I feel for Kendall. The whole cast is superb and totally on their game at all times. Dysfunctional and very annoying yes but what a show!
It’s so twisted, it’s been such a roll coaster watching this show 🔥🔥

To be fair, his pointy eyebrows add to his expressiveness.
Hahhaha, he’s just a G
A wonderful performance in this series. A pity his method acting drove the cast crazy!
As Brian Cox said, “ why don’t you just pretend, like the rest of us.”
As , long as he takes care of himself - because method acting can be intense -
Yup yup 🦾

Dustin Hoffman not sleeping for 4 days to be in character for a scene…
Sir Laurence Olivier “My dear boy, why don’t you just try acting? It’s much easier”
Hahahhah yup…
That story is just a story. Hoffman was going through a divorce and had been partying the previous two days. The torture scene was done early in the morning and Hoffman looked wrecked. What Olivier meant was he wished Hoffman only had to pretend, rather than having to go through some real life trauma to be in the state he was. Olivier was actually sympatizing with Hoffman for having this terrible interuption in what should be a fun creative time, not mocking him.
Really? I have never heard this quote before 🙄(honestly, grab a book, learn something else, follow Jeremy´s advice)
I probably never rooted and definitely never cringed more from one character. The whole birthday episode was hard to watch.
Straight up 😳
@@unpeeled_ you’re channel is great keep grinding. Subbed
The thing is, if you ask a Russian, Chekhov's plays are comedy.

It's only pretentious when Jared Leto applies it; only to deliver super ham performances.

License to *ILL
There were funny parts, but it was a tragedy not a comedy.
he's a terrific actor and all but to me he was not a good casting choice for Succession: to me he barely can pass as one of Logan's children, he looks so different than the rest of the family and from his supposed siblings or other relatives (Greg, uncle Ewan)...at first I though he was Marcia's son or that he was working with Logan as his "adopted" right hand, something like the part Robert Duval played in the Godfather...
Him literally not even getting that the show is a joke is the real cringe.
😂😂😂
im sure others have said this before me, but it's Licensed To *ILL, not Kill. i still have the album on vinyl my mom got me as a kid in the 80's. great JS feature either way tho.
Very serious acting in a poorly acted show. And of course Cox!!
