This one hits home for me. There's a museum on the site where the bruce set up camp the day before the battle, worth a visit along with the castle which is also a museum. The museum also had a total war style battle that you could take part in commanding one or 2 single units and automatically ended if the english got to the castle or king robert or Edward II died in battle but that's unfortunately broke and hasn't been repaired yet due to cost of living.
Quite the battle turned rout. That bodyguard turning around to face battle and death itself after escorting the King to safety was mad brave. The Scots held strong and won.
That depiction of Stirling Castle is so wrong he he. It sits atop a huge rock. The story locally told is that the English armies were forced into a small strip of land between 3 water ways, the Bannock, the Pelstream and the Forth. There was no escape from this and most perished. If you drive through the battlefield on the main road you can imagine just how hemmed in they would have been, there's not much land there and even though the terrain is changed the rivers have not.Good vid though
These videos by your good-selves are absolutely amazing, very clear and concise, the little extra knowledge bombs, second to none on production value. And the graphics that go with the narration are impeccable. Thank you and Hats off to you, Historical Total War Battles 🎩 I especially like the war of the roses series of videos.
I like the graphics but the video is factually inaccurate. Bruce was horsed and carrying an axe and dealt one blow to kill de Bohun. Stirling Castle all wrong and it was at least eight years before independence was declared. Shame because it's a fun watch otherwise.

He invaded England with a force that got as far as Derby, the idea was to place himself as monarch in Scotland. He was defeated at Culloden, and Scotland was ravaged immediately after.
This is the worst, woefully inaccurate depiction of the events at Bannockburn I have ever seen. Stirling castle was not on a flat plain. De Bohun and Bruce fought on horseback and Bruce used an axe, not a sword. After that the English cavalry attacked the Scot's prepared position. First many falling into concealed pits with calthrops in them, then failed. They were not chased by light cavalry. Clifford tried to go round to the east, but were stopped by Douglas and Moray's pike men at the ford at the Pelstream burn. The English vanguard camped to the east for the night, awaiting the foot and archers to catch up during the night. Where the English vanguard camped is disputed and crucial to understanding how Bruce won. Edward, his escort and around a thousand archers made it to Stirling castle, where they were turned away before heading for Dunbar. Did you read anything? Lanercost? The Stellar Templum? Anything?

He did. However, the game doesn't have that graphic.

To be fair, there's only so much that can be done with a mod of a game.
There's no excuse for that nonsense single combat before the battle. However it may have been, it wasn't like that.

Staggering how the unionist fraternity in Scotland never supported the heroes of Scottish independence and still don't.
