Writing from South Africa. Have had the smooth blade option of the Trekker for years now. Very robust and useful. The saw blade is excellent. A really useful part of my EDC. Thanks for vid.
I love that they have locking blades now and that they are evolving a bit with the technology at hand while still being recognizable as the first multi-tool ( and, personally, one of my first knives ever ).
Appreciate the review! I just picked one up (serrated) for 20 bucks in mint condition- could not be happier. It makes for a great tool for trucking...👋🏼🇺🇲
Purchased the non-serrated version based on this review. Great folder for fishing and camping. Works much better as a knife than my Leatherman Sidekick. Saw is long enough to be truly useful.
Great EDC , I own the NS one handed Trekker and love it , I think it works awesome as an EDC blade and multi tool ! I use it a lot in the woods when I'm setting up camp of just on a weekend back pack trip with the wife & kids ! Thanks for sharing Brian , 👍🏻🇺🇸
I really like this knife and it might be my next Victorinox acquisition. I'm not a big fan of the serrated blade and I'm really glad they're so thoughtful to make a non-serrated one to please customers like me. Victorinox can count on my business.
My Uncle was cutting wood across his lap like that during a camping trip. In front of me, he slipped and the knife ran down into his lap and missed his femoral artery by about 1/2 inch. From that day forward I whittle and cut side side saddle.
I think this is the coolest Swiss Army that I ever saw! Thanks for showing this one. I may to pick one up, I'am not much on multi-tools but I think this one will fill a gap for people that don't like them, and still like to have a few extra tools with them.
I've been eyeing the OH Trekker for quite some time now. I already have a OH Hunter XT and I like it a lot. The Trekker really is the perfect all-in-one solution for outdoor use, in most situations you really don't need anything else. I think it would also make a perfect hiking knife.
I've carried my fat Swiss Officer model now for right at 30 years. Still going strong. And I agree, their saw is one of the best to be had. And living in the desert, I really like the magnifying glass on my model. While it can start a fire, it's really great for finding those oh soooo tiny, cactus "fur" spines when embedded in one's finger or hand. Victorinox...top quality, always. However...none of the "tools" in my Officers model lock and like you. I love locking blades, etc. Thanks Bryan.
+Survival On Purpose I have a classic 90'S model with the magnifying glass and Marlboro logo on it. It's awesome and very handy, you would like it. The Swiss make great things. Thanks for sharing.
+Survival On Purpose I have a classic 90'S model with the magnifying glass and Marlboro logo on it. It's awesome and very handy, you would like it. The Swiss make great things. Thanks for sharing.
I like that one. Thanks. I have a victorinox multitool that I have carried for about 3 years and I love it. I have used the screw drivers and other tools many, many times and they are all still in great shape.
Swiss army has been always a provider for high quality products i personally own the camper model from them and i am highly pleased with the quality not to say that they ensure lifetime warranty for all their products . Keep up the good work Brian i`m waiting for a video from you about your husqvarna axe !
That is the coolest serrated edge I've seen! To me, much more useful than the usual serrations at the base of the blade. Great video, Bryan! I've been looking at this knife for a couple years now...gotta get one now, thanks for all the great info as always!
Thank you!! I'm shopping for this one right now... :) Between this and the Old Timer PHW you may have found my 2 favorite blades ever! I'm not real big on all this inter-web stuff but it really is so nice to have someone you can trust that looks at all the many things that are available and gives you their honest opinion in a family-friendly way...you are so good at that and I'm sure I'm not the only one that truly appreciates it. Keep up the great work and thanks again!
The SAK Tinker is the only SAK I ever bought and it was perfect for me as I just started college and the scizzors and magnifying glass came in real handy as did the "non-threatening appearance! A year or so later I gave it to a buddy who re-enlisted in the SEAL Teams. Glad I have it to him as he got some real world use out of it and has given me many things over the years. I think I'll get another one as well as the One-Handed Trekker!
Say Heah Brian, I love mine, I have the Victorinox Delemont Collection Ranger Grip 78, The 79 has the Corkscrew instead of the Phillips. But the Corckscreww you can use to untangle paracoard. I actually use the Awl alot in the bush. I also got a large pouch that I can belt carry it. The pouch coincidentally is army green so it really fits in my new Ultra Carry Trio for my Afternoon Delights which is a hot cup of coffee on the open fire and a baked potato, I teamed my Mora 2000, my Mora Hatchet and the Bacho Laplander which I can carry all of them in my Haversack, The 2000 I belt carry it on person and the rest in my Haversack that I made from a Far Mine Camo Foldover, It's just perfect for what I needed. At first I carried a more robust belt knife like my Bokor Black Vox Rold, and not only did it match with its handle color, But after using the Mora 2000 with the other tools, I just carry the Lite Trio plus the other C's in the Havedasack. But when I Scout some unfamiliar area's, I take a more Robust Trio. yeah that Vic Trekker is awesome. is that the Victorinox Delemont Collection Ranger Grip 78 ?
Yeah, It's very similar to my Victorninox Delemont Collection Ranger Grip 78 except the color, The screw driver also locks when depressed. but the main blade and the saw are around 4" the style of the blade is the same, It locks too and has a button on the side of the handle that you depress to unlock it to close it, yeah, it's a good size.
Thanks Brian, I have the camper, the rucksack and the classic, and love them all. I'm thinking the one handed trecker ns will be my next Swiss Army knife. Take care, Ben from Nova Scotia
Thanks for the review Bryan! I wondered how good this was as a woods/camp blade, but now I think it would make a pretty good EDC knife. I actually like their reversal of the positioning of the serrations and fine edge - makes WAY more sense to me, at least for wood carving purposes.
+Survival On Purpose. I've found that the main blade is good and sharp, but a little thin for heavy work. I use mine (partially serrated) for prepping food. Works great cutting fruit/veg and meat.
I hadn't watched your review yet because I was afraid I would buy one.... I carry 2 SAK's every darn day. a classic on my keys and a recruit in my pants pocket.
hi Brian great review...as usual...bin carrying knives as long as i could walk..but never had a sak...leatherman and good flipper always what i carried...but happened upon a oho trekker on cregslist and clouds opened up and gods rays shined down apon me...holy crap how come i never seen one of these awsone peaces of kit before!!!...now im a convert...3 trekkers 4 91mm knives 4 58 mms knives holy cow...my edc now is a oho trekker black with added pocket clip and rambler model on my keys..feel very prepaired for anything. .funny how you go 44 years in the dark and WAM...lol..thanx for your review...my new favorite tooo.
Hi Brian, I subscribed because of your comments on batoning, but I've kept watching because you have commonsense reviews. I may just buy this knife. Thank You!
I believe the non serrated version of this has been discontinued. Rather than pay an additional $35 for another RangerGrip (which is also an excellent knife), I went ahead and bought the Trekker in serrated and reprofiled the blade. Did it by hand in a couple of hours as a fun project. Love it so far.
Love this knife. Have had it for years. I too like the liner locking blade and flathead/pry bar. I own the serrated version. Great review and thanks for sharing!
that serrations up high makes good cuts for meats fish critters etc I always loved this knife took an oven apart with it once just to see if I could it has everything you need and it comfortable
I've got an older Forester, which is the same knife except it's not OH opening and it has a corkscrew instead of a Philips ..and I recently bought a soldier, which is the same except it has grippy handles with no toothpick and tweezers and only comes in serrated. I hate serrations but I'd heard good things about the grippy handles and wanted to try them. Let me tell you those grippy handles are way better than the standard resin handles. If you dont mind losing the toothpick and tweezers, definitely get a grip version of this knife. On the issue of serrations, I hate them - or I did until I got this knife. This is how you do serrations right. They cut through anything fibrous like a laser beam and putting them on the end of the blade rather than by the handle, is just genius. If I was buying again, I would definitely get the serrated version over the plain edge. In other words, get the Soldier version.
Gifted my NS OHT to a friend thinking I would just pick up another one. Wrong-now they are gone. I picked ca serrated version, learned how to keep it sharp, and love it. Question: has anyone here used a serrated OHT to clean fish, such as trout?
I had a 15 Dollar off 30 or more black Friday coupon at fresno ag Hardware it was 39.99 minus 15 Dollars so it.came out to 26 Dollars and change for the One Handed Treker serrated version! Great Video Sincerely Thomas Raymond Fresno California
This is one of my top picks (within Victorinox). Non-serrated near the handle is best if you're going to have serration at all. I prefer completely non-serrated, so there's at least one edge I can keep sharp in what is really not a dependable knife for outdoors, no matter what the SAK model. I don't recommend an SAK even as backup outdoors, I'd rather have some $8 Morakniv. Cos if your main knife is lost or dulled, what you need is a backup edge, not anything they put in SAKs.
At 1:23 move left from your shoulder to the small tree. It sure looks like a skunk. I’ve been looking at this knife for a while . NS . Great review once again Brian,
Corporal Kelly carry's thisknife daily from what i understand..If its good enough for you feller's I know i will get alot out of it myself..Thanks for the review Brian!! I appreciate it!..👍 Dinker..
+Vida Salvaje On this german page (www.mein-taschenmesser.de/produktberater/glossar/stahl-victorinox/) it's said, that they use 1.4110 steel (in Germany like 440A), which is a nice steel in my opinion. Maybe there are better ones but on a SAM it works really well. In addition it comes really sharp out of the box. :)
Great video dude. I think i am going to buy myself one of those. I have a few knifes (switch blade and kershaw leek) and i have been looking into knifes that would be good for outdoor use with a few tools and i think i might go with this because i want a saw bottle/can opener and this sounds great for me because the hunter looked good but didn't have exactly what i wanted. Thanks for posting this video.
Nice video. I have a couple of these and find the Philips is awkward in tight situations.Would be better hinged like the blade. Otherwise good. Cheers.
Just found this vid. I've been looking at this knife for a while. Thanks for the review. Oh, your link goes to a non-one-handed trekker. But Amazon does have this knife.
For those who don’t know you can replace both the tweezers and toothpick with firefly ferro rod, however I would keep the tweezers Incase you get splinters
Survival On Purpose called the firefly, there’s regular sized and mini ones. I’m probably going to invest in a one hand trekker with a kydex neck sheath and replace the toothpick with a firefly, there’s tons of toothpicks on the forest floor 😂
I'd like to see how well the serrated version does against other serrated blades in cutting seat belt and other tougher materials. it looks like the way its designed it would lend itself to it well
+dalton vickers I used the serrated one all weekend as my main blade while camping withe the Boy Scouts and it has really grown on me. I like that the put a plain edge section closer to the handle and the serrations on the outer end. Pretty slick actually.
Thank you for the great review. I ordered the trail master which is and identical model last week for a scout. How do you sharpen the serrated version? I wanted the NS but it’s not in production.
I don't own many SAK's but do own a reg Trekker. I'm very pleased with it except for the bit of up/down blade play when the blade is deployed/locked. In regards to tool stock thickness and frame strength, would you say that the 111mm Vics are substantially stronger/more robust than the 93's, 91's, and 84's? Is each size increase stronger than the one before it?
Say Heah Brian, Infact I took a similar knife to back-up the knife I'm using this weekend, I took my Victirinox Rangergrip 78, My main knife is my Fox Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife, I'm finding out, I could use it a a one tool option, But I'm so use to multi carry. That's why I brought the Vic. For my personal chopper I brought my 24" Council Pack Axe with heavy sheath and sling, and my Silky Bigboy 2000 with sheath. and ofcourve my Kodiak Gearsling. I still concider this to be a managable carry and using it in alot of snow proves it to me. I really like it. What's the difference between your Vic. Trekker and a Vic. Rangergrip besides handle color. Anyhow, Have a Happy St. Patrick Day.,,.
+survival on purpose - "just like all Swiss Army knives..." FYI, the "soldier" model does NOT include the toothpick and tweezers. Good review and thanks for your vids.
both links for the kinfe says in the description same thing "FUNCTIONS: large blade with wavy edge," looked on google and the nonserrated blade was not found???
I wish I had bought the regular blade instead of the half serrated. I think the One Handed Trekker and the Soldiers Knife are the same except for the scales. And maybe the Trail Master too.
next time you're in the fishing section of a store get a big brass snap swivel, the kind for big catfish fishing or saltwater fishing. tie your bank line on it and snap the swivel onto the lanyard ring and the lanyard to your belt, that way if you want to remove the lanyard just unsnap it. the swivel is small enough that it isn't uncomfortable in the pocket, but strong enough to secure the knife.
I got a surplus Swiss trekker from the German army for $25. It looks new and has the German emblem not the Swiss. It also has a non serated blade and no toothpick or tweezer.
I bought this knife (serrated) and loved it, but couldn't live with it. Biggest downside is the two-handed blade closing operation. No pocket clip sucked, but I'm sure there's a mod somewhere to fix that. And, thumb holes are not my preference, but I was getting used it. However, the two-handed closing operation just irritated me to no end. I really hope Victoronox fixes that.
you could have taken it and seen how good it was balanced and THROWN it at that tree behind you! and then dropped it from two meters see if broke, and then dropped it off the second floor deck open into a kettle full of water and see if it closes up! :-) Thanks nice video! I'm sold on the NS can I get through Amazon through your link? atb stay safe. Mark in Texas. We Gone!..
Absolutely. If the link goes to the wrong knife (somebody told me it does and I'm in the woods tonight), just use the search bar in Amazon and you should find it.
I just recently got the serrated blade one, I was giving it a try and was opening something with it. But foolish old me had the knife slip and nearly take off my finger tip. Just be careful with one of these
@@SurvivalOnPurpose ,yes an the gut saw is not pointed on the end so not puncture while cleaning the animal or fish, which I think is a neat design an they also have the rescue tool thst you an replace blades an the window punch when they dull, kinda experience but worth it if you use it at least once to help someone, my buddy had one back when I use to be a volunteer firefighter.
+Camy Honestly, I like the serrated version because the part closest to the handle is smooth, but I usually have a fixed blade in the woods too. If you plan on doing a lit of wood carving you might prefer the smooth blade.
If I have to carry a victorinox should I have this or a swiss army knife please tell me your decisions because I do not know which one I should have for urban and for woods edc
+Greek Satire Ελληνική Σάτυρα So you want me to decide for you? It depends on whether you need the other functions some models offer. You have to decide that for yourself.
+Survival On Purpose I am between this model and the fieldmaster or the swiss champ because i live in urban areas anyway thanks for answering to my comment I real love your videos and your style. (P.S I am from Greece and I am a big fan of your's)
+Greek Satire Ελληνική Σάτυρα I like the Fieldmaster because it doesn't have a bunch of tools I don't need, but the One Handed Trekker is a lot more handy for everyday knife stuff.
+Survival On Purpose thanks for answering can you do me a little favour if you can make a video with the victorinox Hercules if you can I would love to see you doing a review on this
i have the One-Hand Trekker and the steel seem kind of cheap so i would not put to much pressure on the blade... and i know Victorinox has been using this steel for a long time but it dose not seem like a great steel and it not very thick ..its not a Hard uses blade it more like a back up blade..but this would make a great knife for light tasks around camp...

Survival On Purpose okay
Nothing beats a good ole Swiss army
Writing from South Africa. Have had the smooth blade option of the Trekker for years now. Very robust and useful. The saw blade is excellent. A really useful part of my EDC. Thanks for vid.

Me too.
Thanks for adding the little out-takes after the closing. I enjoy you sharing them in addition to your wonderful, informative reviews.
Thanks for being one of the 3 people who have seen them.
Appreciate the review! I just picked one up (serrated) for 20 bucks in mint condition- could not be happier. It makes for a great tool for trucking...👋🏼🇺🇲
Enjoy!
Purchased the non-serrated version based on this review. Great folder for fishing and camping. Works much better as a knife than my Leatherman Sidekick. Saw is long enough to be truly useful.
+John Chastain in my opinion they make the best small saw I have ever used
Great EDC , I own the NS one handed Trekker and love it , I think it works awesome as an EDC blade and multi tool ! I use it a lot in the woods when I'm setting up camp of just on a weekend back pack trip with the wife & kids ! Thanks for sharing Brian , 👍🏻🇺🇸
+Brandon A. Yep. It is a great knife
I love my One-Hand Trekker and Forester. I honestly think this 111mm line is THE SAK knife everyone should own.
I really like this knife and it might be my next Victorinox acquisition. I'm not a big fan of the serrated blade and I'm really glad they're so thoughtful to make a non-serrated one to please customers like me. Victorinox can count on my business.
it rocks!
My Uncle was cutting wood across his lap like that during a camping trip. In front of me, he slipped and the knife ran down into his lap and missed his femoral artery by about 1/2 inch. From that day forward I whittle and cut side side saddle.
+Michael Varney ouch
Michael Varney always remember “Never get bloody, cut towards a buddy”
I hit my femoral artery once, it chipped my blade edge.
We have to be very carefuly with that Blades , they are very very very sharp , i cut Myself in a blink . Ford me the verter size of the Sak are 91 mm
I think this is the coolest Swiss Army that I ever saw! Thanks for showing this one. I may to pick one up, I'am not much on multi-tools but I think this one will fill a gap for people that don't like them, and still like to have a few extra tools with them.

LOVE the Trekker. I bought the NS but the way they did the serrations is much more practical for camp use. Both winners.
I agree. Mine was in my pocket with the Boy Scouts this past weekend
I like that one. Thanks. I have a victorinox multitool that I have carried for about 3 years and I love it. I have used the screw drivers and other tools many, many times and they are all still in great shape.

This is one of my all time favorites

Thanks for another great video! I have a one-handed tracker enjoy it very much and I use it just about every day. Thanks again!
I use it every time I go camping
I have the firemans knife. it has a lock blade and a serrated. love it !!
+b ferg Thy make good stuff
b ferg I’ve processed deer with that knife, field dress to boning and butchering. Great knife.
Brian! I really REALLY can't believe that YOU did a knife review without telling us whether it would strike a ferro rod.
I didn’t ? Oops

I fall'd in Love with The Victorinox Trailmaster. Now it is my edc knife
They have some great models.
I have used mine for several years as a EDC knife.. Its an excellent blade.
+Skills2Survive yes it is.
+Skills2Survive Cool. I found it a bit bulky for an EDC.
Finally a good review on the knife. Thank you.
+Max Tactical Thank you. It is a great knife.
+Survival On Purpose I own a camo NS. I personally am not big fan of serrated edges, but this is the only knife on which the serrations make sense.
I like the way they did them myself.
Survival On Purpose With a standard serrated edge knife, it is very hard to even sharpen a stick properly.
that serrations up high makes good cuts for meats fish critters etc I always loved this knife took an oven apart with it once just to see if I could it has everything you need and it comfortable
great video man!
Thanks
I got a different model. Great little folder. Thanks for the video :)
- Martin
Thanks Martin.
Great knife. Love that it locks!
+RowdyRoddy Me too.
great video as usual I like the NS version never liked serrated blade too much. keep them coming Peace
I like the reverse location for the serrations on this one.
An also the 78,the emblem on it is the press button to unlock the blade, really nice grips kn these.
Excellent video, very good narration.
+MidnightSundowns Thanks.

I just don;t need a corkscrew but I use a toothpick all the time
If I need one, I just sharpen a twig. Less gross than putting a plastic one back in the handle after you've used it too.

I remember you at 3k, thanks and keep up the great vids.
I am amazed and humbled
I have had one for years now, like it. Only thing I have the serrated one, wish I would have gotten the regular blade
I actually like the serrated one
I had a 15 Dollar off 30 or more black Friday coupon at fresno ag Hardware it was 39.99 minus 15 Dollars so it.came out to 26 Dollars and change for the One Handed Treker serrated version! Great Video Sincerely Thomas Raymond Fresno California
Cool
This is one of my top picks (within Victorinox). Non-serrated near the handle is best if you're going to have serration at all. I prefer completely non-serrated, so there's at least one edge I can keep sharp in what is really not a dependable knife for outdoors, no matter what the SAK model. I don't recommend an SAK even as backup outdoors, I'd rather have some $8 Morakniv. Cos if your main knife is lost or dulled, what you need is a backup edge, not anything they put in SAKs.
+Gun Tech. I think this is an excellent knife for outdoors. But I always have a fixed blade too.
this is almost the exact model which I was given and use at the swiss army. Ours is green and the serrated version
Good knives for sure
But sans the toothpick and tweezers :(
was that a skunk behind you at 1:20?!?!
Skunk? What skunk?
Derrick S. Tran Where? I don’t see a skunk.
At 1:23 move left from your shoulder to the small tree. It sure looks like a skunk. I’ve been looking at this knife for a while . NS . Great review once again Brian,
Sure does look like a skunk back there behind him
A stuffed Skunk.... The best kind...
I've never had much of a use for SAK's but I might have to get me one of these
+MarshallsTutorials&Reviews It's a handy blade
Corporal Kelly carry's thisknife daily from what i understand..If its good enough for you feller's I know i will get alot out of it myself..Thanks for the review Brian!! I appreciate it!..👍 Dinker..
is a good one
What steel is the blade made out of?
I have no idea. In my experience, they use quality steel. All my other Swiss Army knives hold a very good edge.
+Camy This is one of my favorites
Happy New Year!!, teacher! and greatings from México City!!
+Arturo Montiel Gracias.
Great review Brian, just got one based off your review.
I'm glad it helped.
That's a great knife Bryan. I love my SAKs.
It sure is Michael.
Great review Bryan.
Thank you.
actually....The OHT only comes in black unless you can change the scales . But I have this model and great demo and discussion of this great SAK
I must have been looking at a different model in a different color. I can't believe I made a mistake. That's 2 this decade ;-)
Nice very nice! Good review Bryan!
Thanks !
Nice video. I have a couple of these and find the Philips is awkward in tight situations.Would be better hinged like the blade. Otherwise good. Cheers.
Good video! It seems quite impressive. I might have to pick one up!
It visa solid knife.
Just found this vid. I've been looking at this knife for a while. Thanks for the review. Oh, your link goes to a non-one-handed trekker. But Amazon does have this knife.
Well, bummer about the link. I'll try to fix it. Thanks.
That's OK. Easy enough to find it and I guess just getting to Amazon through your link works for the whole session at Amazon.
Sorry to bug you but what is your method to sharpen the plain a serrated blade thanks Brian.
I honestly don't bother with sharpening the serrations much but a small diamond of ceramic rod will work
For those who don’t know you can replace both the tweezers and toothpick with firefly ferro rod, however I would keep the tweezers Incase you get splinters
I hope to get some of those to test
Survival On Purpose called the firefly, there’s regular sized and mini ones. I’m probably going to invest in a one hand trekker with a kydex neck sheath and replace the toothpick with a firefly, there’s tons of toothpicks on the forest floor 😂
I'd like to see how well the serrated version does against other serrated blades in cutting seat belt and other tougher materials. it looks like the way its designed it would lend itself to it well
Maybe I'll do that sometime.
cool knifes great review bryan
Thanks
I like that knife. I think I would go with the non serrated
+dalton vickers I used the serrated one all weekend as my main blade while camping withe the Boy Scouts and it has really grown on me. I like that the put a plain edge section closer to the handle and the serrations on the outer end. Pretty slick actually.
thank you for making this video your the reason I got this knife and its in camo
+JayJayyy 107 Cool. I like it a lot.
I got the 2 Hand Version. it is awesome.
They are great knives.
Thank you for the great review. I ordered the trail master which is and identical model last week for a scout. How do you sharpen the serrated version? I wanted the NS but it’s not in production.
I don’t worry too much about it but a small diamond rod will work fine
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Thank you.
Looks like a great blade! Wish that saw locked though.
That would be nice, but really when you're using a saw your pressure is against the hinge it anyway. A lot would be nice for scraping a ferro Rod
I would assume so.
Victornox should make a fixed blade knife, their folders are so great they need to make one
I agree
Young Woodsman now they do.
Thanks for the review. I own the non-serrated version of this knife and it is a great back-up for camping. Is that a skunk behind you at 1:23?
Love mine Brian!
me too
Neat knife,on my wish list!
It's one of my new favorites
+survival on purpose - "just like all Swiss Army knives..." FYI, the "soldier" model does NOT include the toothpick and tweezers. Good review and thanks for your vids.
Thanks for the info.
both links for the kinfe says in the description same thing "FUNCTIONS: large blade with wavy edge," looked on google and the nonserrated blade was not found???
I think it is discontinued.
Ive got a similar one but without the saw. I found that the lanyard hole digs into my hand so i ground it off
Whatever works for you.
I wish I had bought the regular blade instead of the half serrated. I think the One Handed Trekker and the Soldiers Knife are the same except for the scales. And maybe the Trail Master too.
I like them both
Are you able to close it with one hand?
One hand and my leg ;-)
Love my Field Master edc, but I want one of these!
You'll like it
Thanks for another good video
Thanks.
next time you're in the fishing section of a store get a big brass snap swivel, the kind for big catfish fishing or saltwater fishing. tie your bank line on it and snap the swivel onto the lanyard ring and the lanyard to your belt, that way if you want to remove the lanyard just unsnap it. the swivel is small enough that it isn't uncomfortable in the pocket, but strong enough to secure the knife.
Good idea. I just tie a loop and use a larks head.
You might want to change the knife link. Its not the one handed trecker. I just wanted to let You know about that. Great video.
Thanks. I will try to fix it later. I'm in the woods tonight.
I got a surplus Swiss trekker from the German army for $25. It looks new and has the German emblem not the Swiss. It also has a non serated blade and no toothpick or tweezer.
Cool. But I like my toothpick and tweezers
It's a shame Victorinox has discontinued the NS version of the Trekker.
It doesn't bother me in the woods. Kind of forces me to slow down and enjoy the experience of using a well made tool.
Great review.
Thanks
+Survival On Purpose I used to use this knife for bush walking but switched to the Hunter XT. That's worth a look as well.
I have been wanting one for a long while the NS is hard to find.
I think it may be discontinued
It's 2020 when I found out the non-serrated model has been discontinued. The demand for non-serrated blades is bery high. Victorinox?
I honestly prefer the serrated one. Just because the serrations are at the end so the smooth edge is where it makes sense to me.
You forgot about the wire stripper on the bottle opener
you could have taken it and seen how good it was balanced and THROWN it at that tree behind you! and then dropped it from two meters see if broke, and then dropped it off the second floor deck open into a kettle full of water and see if it closes up!
Just be careful with one of these
Hey brian, check out the victorinox ranger grip 58 an the hunter xt,really kool gut blades on these.
cool
@@SurvivalOnPurpose ,yes an the gut saw is not pointed on the end so not puncture while cleaning the animal or fish, which I think is a neat design an they also have the rescue tool thst you an replace blades an the window punch when they dull, kinda experience but worth it if you use it at least once to help someone, my buddy had one back when I use to be a volunteer firefighter.
For whittling wood, would you recommend the NS version or S version.
+Camy Honestly, I like the serrated version because the part closest to the handle is smooth, but I usually have a fixed blade in the woods too. If you plan on doing a lit of wood carving you might prefer the smooth blade.
+Survival On Purpose Okay thank you
If I have to carry a victorinox should I have this or a swiss army knife please tell me your decisions because I do not know which one I should have for urban and for woods edc
+Survival On Purpose thanks for answering can you do me a little favour if you can make a video with the victorinox Hercules if you can I would love to see you doing a review on this
I think the non serrated blade knife has been discontinued though I have no idea why they would do that
Maybe because it didn't sell
i have the One-Hand Trekker and the steel seem kind of cheap so i would not put to much pressure on the blade... and i know Victorinox has been using this steel for a long time but it dose not seem like a great steel and it not very thick ..its not a Hard uses blade it more like a back up blade..but this would make a great knife for light tasks around camp...
I think the steel is excellent. I guess it depends on your definition of "hard use". It's not a full tang fixed blade
