This is my favourite season of anything, it has fundamentally changed me as a person. Oddly enough these 2 seasons serve as a great prologue for the rest of Thorfinns story. Glad you enjoyed it!
Because I was born in a country that produces many interesting and attractive manga, I was able to come into contact with many works from an early age. I've watched hundreds of anime, but I can only count on my fingers the ones that have moved me as emotionally as ``Vinland Saga.'' Thank you to author Makoto Yukimura and everyone involved in the production of the anime!
@@Gaboxxy96 is it really not? i feel like even in the west so many people hate on it for “being boring” and “having no action” i would’ve thought it would be more well received in japan ngl
Canute still remembers who he is, thats why the shadow of his Father lingers over him. Because the parts of himself he's giving into for the greater good are the "Kingly" things he saw his Father doing. At the end of it all, Canute simply recognizes he can't be that meek, scared boy anymore. He needs to be a man capable of strength so he can eventually lead his barbaric people to anything less barbaric. Its made to make us think he got lost in the sauce, but in actuality, he simply had such harsh convinctions because he was waiting for someone to challenge his. And Thorfinn was up to the task
This season is a great deconstruction of "toxic" masculinity - of what it means to be strong. "Thorfinn, I want to be like you, strong and KIND. A real man."
There are so many historical references in this show, like Cnut the Great commanding the tides. Him withdrawing his armies from England actually happened too. If you know enough about the viking era and about historical vinland, you can kinda spoil yourself even
4:40 To me, that's definitely Askeladd, not Thors. Yeah, most of Thorfinn's ideals are from his father, but Canute is talking about the eloquence of his words. Canute just knew about Askeladd, that's what he is trying to insinuate in this context, a man who is smart with words.
naah, its Thors. Only way vikings are capable of producing man like Thorfinn. Askeladd would have never bluntly just say " I am running". In this moment there is no cunning. Just honesty. I feel like Canute is actually wondering who he is taking after to be man like that
Canute didn't know Thors, so that immediately leaves Askeladd. Canute knew the answer of his own question, because he was being rhetorical, just to state how much Thorfinn has changed. But you can think whatever you want, tho. Edit: And btw, in the manga Canute literally says: "You sound just like Askeladd"
@@ShinyaKougami Yeah, Canute is 100% talking about Askellad here. The smirk makes it clear Thorfinn reminds him of someone HE met, and Canute never met Thors. Also Thors wasn’t eloquent. A defining aspect of his character is that Thorfinn did not understand his philosophy whatsoever because he lacked the ability to explain it in words. Askellad is also unquestionably eloquent. At a time when literacy was nonexistent he was literate and well-versed in history and politics. He was able to read people instantly because he understood the human condition on a fundamental level. He’s an asshole but the man is the definition of eloquent.
omg what? just caught up to one piece reactions of yours this morning and now i saw vinland saga !!! you have reacted to my fav anime of all time - one piece and 2nd fav anime of all time - vinland saga ❤❤😭😭 gotta binge watch this soon
Olmar came through. In the manga he gave away half of the family wealth to the families who suffered in the conflict. I'm off to play a farming simulator to see if it changes the chemicals in my brain now. Maybe edibles will help.
You also have to remember that for the last few years Canute was the most morally righteous person around, he had no one to challenge him upwards. Earlier in the season he had a bunch of soldiers executed because they disobeyed him and still pillaged and took advantage of women. Canut was feeling pretty righteous right until Thorfinn showed up and reminded him what true kindness looks like. So yeah, his change of attitude was pretty out of the blue, but completely understandable. His goal is to create heaven on Earth, after all.

Thorfinn still slept on the barn, yet he slept peacefully this time without any nightmares.

Watch KINGDOM buddy
As a japanese person (I assume), why do you think Vinland isn’t as popular in Japan as it is in the west?
Can you please recomend some of those other animes?
@@miguelangelpintor9804 best seinen anime (in my opinion) berserk, kingdom and monster

The final scene is one in which each character departs with determination. Thorfinn, too, has made up his mind and it is time for him to leave.
That was the beginnings of those men, symbolizing the start of Thorfinn's true journey

Que triste es terminar este bello anime, mi favorito sin duda alguna, me ha hecho cambiar mi estilo de vida

"Im not crying, you are crying"
Finally some tears of joy, to wrap up an S-tier season of Vinland Saga.
There are so many historical references in this show, like Cnut the Great commanding the tides. Him withdrawing his armies from England actually happened too. If you know enough about the viking era and about historical vinland, you can kinda spoil yourself even
And it's become more interesting if you know about historical events, to see how this masterpiece interprets and depicts them.
Vinland Saga is *PEAK* narration/ Character's development

@@Martyyri That's your interpretation and i'm okay with that. But i still think it's Askeladd.
@@Martyyri i agree with u tbh no way canute was talking about askeladd, askeladd wasn’t “eloquent” he was more so crafty/clever/cunning with his words

Don’t forget that Ylva is also the daughter of Thors, Which means she also inheriting the great warriors DNA like Thorfinn.

I swear if we don't get a Season 3 for this show...
Peak fiction
I am sad anime didn't include the scene where the sister demanded Thorfinn to cut his stupid beard and then also cut his hair short bowl cut
I hope they will add that in season 3 😂😂
Maybe they will include that in season 3
But maybe we'll wait 5 years again to see that😂
