This is such a helpful video and I love how you break down painting on each different mediums. Can't wait for part 2.💕💕💕

Of course! So glad you’re here! 💕
You make everything look easy. You're amazing 😍😍
Lol these aren’t bad. But thank you!!!
I'm sorry maybe I didn't explain myself, I meant that you are so good that it seems easy what you do but instead there is a lot of work and commitment behind every project. I'm sorry ❤
Oh you sweetheart! I didn’t take it in a bad way at all! ❤️ i meant to say these really are easy lol text. Always hard to express ourselves fully with it.

@@FiveTwoBaker does the colours are edible?
Thanks for your tutorial. What else I can use except alcohol with food gel color?
Of course! I'm so glad you like it 💖. Here go some alcohol substitutions:
Clear Lemon extract- like the type you would use in frosting or cakes, but it's 80% alcohol.
Evaporex- 100% food grade alcohol.
Baker's Spirits - Also 100% food grade alcohol.
Finally, Water - Downside is because it will take longer to dry, you risk your fondant absorbing it, thus getting sticky, shiny fondant. It works! But you have to be more cautious with your painting.
Basically everything is some type of alcohol, but different places sell it under different names. I hope this helps and you can work with one of these! ❤️
Really superb... Love from kerala😍
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for the tutorial 🤍
May I ask where you got your floral dish your using to paint with? TIA
Isn't it the cutest??? Here's the link: amzn.to/3gkVQE7
Hi, what are the gel cooours that u use and the fondant brand you are using? Thank you
Hi! I'm using some wilton gel colors and some chef master brand gel colors. The fondant is a wilton fondant I picked up from the store. Hope that helps! 💖
ماشاء الله تبارك الله 🌹🌹🌹
❤️❤️❤️
What will i use when painting on buttercream or ganache? I only have gel colors.
You can totally paint on those mediums with gel colors. I'm hoping to do more ganache painting videos in the future. With buttercream, my struggle is that I don't do air conditioning, so my buttercream melts quickly.... like within a few minutes. But others have great success painting on it, so I'd give it a try if that's what you have. 💖
Do you think this would work the same on royal icing?
Gel colors definitely work on royal icing! I don't do much cookie work myself, but I've seen others do it. You just have to wait for the icing to fully dry before doing it. 💖
Can color in the same way fondant figure that create from mold?
You can! Just make sure its fully dry so you don't get cracks in your paint job.
how do you make the white choclat genach?
Hi! It all depends on your climate and needs. To coat a cake I keep it to chocolate and heavy cream, but the ratio's you need are likely different than mine. I'm usually around 3 parts chocolate, 1 part cream.
So 😍
Thank you! I very much enjoyed this little series ❤️!
Thank you for sharing ❤️I need to work on face painting techniques 🤪
Faces are definitely a challenge. I haven’t done it in a while, so I’m a bit nervous about starting back up! 😅
@@FiveTwoBaker please comeback!!! You are so talented 👏🏼✅
🙈 Thank you! I’ll definitely be trying to squeeze one in. I don’t want to become too rusty! ❤️❤️❤️
Can this be used to paint on cake pops once the candy melts have set :)
That's a great question. The melts will work just like chocolate. You'll be able to paint on them more easily with color dusts, but gels will give a lovely watercolor effect. I have a video on painting with color dusts if you'd like to see the comparison. 💖
What do you have to do and which food color is best for a watercolor effect?
Would it work with food coloring pencils if you run over them with a wet brush soaked in alcohol?
For a water color effect, any food color should do. You simply have to be more loose with your painting and have the color more diluted.
You mean like the food markers? I've never used those for water color. Mine are very concentrated and so I don't imagine it would work well. But it's worth a try! Maybe youre on to something! 💖
Hello can i use lemon extract with the gel colors?
Hi! Yes! extracts have a high concentration of alcohol, so they work great! 💛
@@FiveTwoBaker thanks!
What kind of food grade alcohol do you usually use?
Sorry it took so long to respond. I usually use vodka. But any clear one will do. Even clear extracts. 💕
Would it work on hard chocolate?!
For hard chocolate I'd recommend using oil based colors made for chocolate or I'd use color dusts with cocoa butter. I think those would work far better than gel colors, but I'm not an expert in that area. Hope it helps! ❤️
Are you dipping the brush in water or gel?
Great question. Water.
What recipe of chocolate ganache did u use pls
I typically use a ratio of 3:1 - 4:1 for white chocolate depending on the weather. I'll upload a video with this info once I make it again. 💖
Planning to paint on dark chocolate ganache In yellow colour..is it possible..pls reply
Dark chocolate. You’ll do much better with color dusts and cocoa butter. The color won’t be super visible if you use gel colors. 💖 Good luck!

❤️❤️ Thank you!
With all the food colouring, doesn't it have a bitter taste ?
That’s a great point! Bc it’s such a thin layer of paint, I haven’t found it to be bitter. Now if you really go to town on it, maybe. And brands of color will change in flavor too. I like concentrated gel colors Bc very little gel brings a lot of color. I hope that helped answer! ❤️
Can we mix color with water
Short answer, yes. I also have a short video giving different options for diluting color gels on my channel if you’re interested.
Hello, can we use anything else instead of alcohol since I'm a non~alcoholic
Hi! You can always use water, you just have to be a bit more careful because water takes longer to dry, so it has more opportunity to be absorbed or drip- but it works! Here go a few more options, because non-alcoholic means different things to different people.
Clear Lemon extract- like the type you would use in frosting or cakes, but it's 80% alcohol.
Evaporex- 100% food grade alcohol.
Baker's Spirits - Also 100% food grade alcohol.
Basically everything is some type of alcohol, but different places/countries/industries sell it under different names. I hope this helps and you can work with one of these! ❤️
I can’t use alcohol, is there any alternative to it ?❣️
You can use clear extract (like the kind you bake with), but they also have alcohol in them, so I’m not sure if you’ll want those. Water is an option but it takes long to dry. Hope this helps!
@@FiveTwoBaker
Thank you so much, you are amazing ❣️
❤️❤️❤️
Instead of alcohol what can we use?
I use it because it evaporates quickly into the air. You can use clear baking extracts such as lemon or vanilla that you would use in a cake or frosting (but those also have alcohol). You could also use just water, but you have to be more patient Bc it will take longer to dry. With water on fondant you’ll have to be careful to not use too much Bc since it’s taking longer to evaporate and dry, you increase the chances of your fondant absorbing the water and swelling. But it’s possible! ❤️
@@FiveTwoBaker thanks alot sweetheart for your reply, i just subscribed your channel n loving your work ❤️😍😊😊 keep it up 👍
Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Have you a tried painting on a buttercream cake with gel food colouring? I have tired and the colour bleeds and run down the cake.... And it looks extremely blotchy and bad...
Do you mean aside from in this video? I do a demo in this video, and in part 2 & 3 of my series. But I don’t have any full cakes to share. IMO it doesn’t do a great job for anything realistic. I agree, it can get a little blotchy. Hope that helps!
@@FiveTwoBaker sorry I saw your video till end later... But I have done painting with gel and alcohol on a cake but it became got condensation and it started to bleed an became extremely blotchy.... If you find any solution to this please please share
No worries! 💖 there are products to help like edible art paints, but I don’t really like painting in buttercream Bc it gets so soft, so fast. But if I can create a buttercream I can paint in that still tastes like IMBC, you’ll know! ☺️💖
Hi, i wanted to say something. I think your colors bleed bcz there was too much humidity around your area. I would suggest you to paint on fondant in an aircondition room and use melted cocoa butter/shortening replacing alcohol. See alcohol has water in them and it makes the fondant more humid and thats why the colors bleed. Try to do it.
Can lemon juice or vinegar substitute for alcohol??
I've never tried lemon juice or vinegar, so I'm not sure. I know some people just go ahead and use water, but you have to be extra careful with that bc it takes longer to dry, so you run the risk that your fondant will absorb it more. Others use clear extracts- like the type you use for baking. I use alcohol because its way cheaper and it evaporates out of the cake anyway. Sorry I couldn't help with your options. If I give lemon juice a try, I'll def post here to let you know! 💛
@@FiveTwoBaker thanks much appreciated...
Where i can buy i find alcohol for food color mix?
Hi..do you mean I can’t use gel color with ganache and buttercream? (Sorry but I don’t understand some of your words..it is not my language 🤭)
No worries! Thank you for asking. You can definitely use gel food colors on ganache and buttercream. You just have to be a bit more patient with it, and it might take more practice, because the colors don't blend and absorb as well as they do on fondant. Hope that clarifies it! 💖
Is it safe for children to eat? because it contains some alcohol. Thank you so much ❣️❣️❣️
Great question! Definitely is! The alcohol evaporates out. It’s similar to using vanilla extract in frosting. The extract has alcohol in it, but what actually stays in the frosting is so minimal that it’s safe.
Now if you serve a fresh painting that hasn’t dried….that would probably still have some alcohol. Does that make sense?
❤️
@@FiveTwoBaker Thank you so much 🙆🏻♀️❣️
I noticed you used food grade alcohol but can I use vodka?
Yes! That’s actually what use, I say food grade alcohol to keep it options open. ❤️
@@FiveTwoBaker thank you so much!!! I’m not a professional but I really enjoy making fondant toppers for my chocolate covered pretzels and Oreos. I’m trying to see how I can paint the eye lashes and bring in more color without spending $12 a bottle on the paints. I already have the gel color so this is perfect for me!
I hear ya! They’re convenient at times, but if I can do it with what I have, I’m all about that! ❤️ good luck!
Did you use vodka ?
I do! I find it dries fast, it evaporates (so no one is getting intoxicated), and its affordable. BUT, if you don't have any on hand, there are other options. I go over them in one of my UA-cam Shorts. Check out that playlist if you want different options. 💕
@@FiveTwoBaker thank you
Where is cocobutter video link..we are non alcoholics
Just added them to the description. Thanks for letting me know! 💕
The alcohol evaporates quickly so there is no alcohol left.
You just have to add more is all. It’s a very small amount we’re working with at a time, and quick evaporation is what we’re looking for. Otherwise water is an option.
