Well only physical base characters (Squall, Zell, Irvine and Seifer) needs STR bonus and only magic type characters (Rinoa, Selphie, Quistis and Edea) need MAG bonus when leveling up. So use VIT bonus on everyone instead ✌.
I remember noticing this when I purchased the game so long ago. It takes a really, REALLY long time, though, so I never bothered with it (although, I also found that using Devour took a really long time as well). It is definitely worth it to use Cactuar to get the stat bonus abilities first if you're going to do this. Like Xyrgra says, it won't get you anywhere near 255, but it's very fast stat gain for all six characters.
@JesseGunter When you arrive at Esthar City, try to find the shopping mall (or whatever...) when you click on it, it says: "You want to go shopping" choose Yes and choose Johnny's Shop, if it didn't open from the first try, keep clicking and clicking on Johnny's shop until it opens, then when you enter the shop once, it unlocks at your Call Shop ability menu :)
You can still access the Esthar Shop!!! If you go to Esthar and repeatedly click on Johhny's Shop. After clicking on it multiple times it will eventually open, allowing access. Gonna max out my squad now that I finished leveling up. #FinalFantasy8Remastered
Well I haven't tried it, but of course you can, using the same method, but that would take a very very long time, you can junction magics other than Ultima though, Full-Life for HP, Meltdown for Vit, Meteor for Str, Reflect for Spr, Death/Pain for Mag. That will raise them by a notable value Then you can use your Ultima for whatever you want except speed because Triple is better than Ultima on that ;)
Keep pressing on the shop, even if it says it's closed or come back tomorrow (forgot what it says...), just keep pressing until it opens for you, once it opens, it will be avalible at your Tonberry's Call Shop ability :)

I found this awesome all in one cheat for Soul Guardians :) facebook.com/Soul-Guardians-Age-Of-Midgard-Unlimited-Gold-Crystals-Cheat-1666509263591592/?pidid=d562ce2b-8ff4-47b0-ae52-d680815f78e7 Final Fantasy VIII: How to get max Spr, Str, Mag and HP stats (255)
You can unlock the Cactuar GF once you get the Ragnarok. He has HP, STR, MAG, VIT, SPR Bonus abilities, with a Rosetta Stone (that gives 4x Ability to a GF) you can max your stats easily, of course you won't get 255 on all stats, but it's easier and less time consuming than waiting for the UPs items... You can basically get between 40/50 more points on each stat if you have low leveled characters, my Rinoa was at level 17, she basically got near 255 on all main stats :D
While I am not against using mods and such, there is a certain feeling with EARNING the max stats. Good tut man. I never thought of it. Now if only I could figure out Lionheart without saccing cards. ;-;
I have mix feelings on "cheating" If the cheat is used to condense time, vs doing repetitive activity, I'm not as against it as lets say a infinite HP cheat
You're right, people who keep saying you'll get 255 (or near) every stat using the Stat Bonus abilities while levelling are wrong - it doesn't. It does help alot though, obviously, since that's potentially 80 or so less Ups of each type for each character needed.
I always rearange Cottage and Tent into the first two position in item list and only refine 99 of them, to Mega potion to third position in item list. and then sell only 74 from 75, so i hawe al position on the same location and can make buy/sell and refine more quicker...
@Tyson55977 I discovered why you can't find it: in theory, Tomberry has already learnt all his abilities, but in reality he misses "call shop". To be able to unlock it you must delete one of the other abilities (my advice: GF, because quite every GF has got it). Once you do it you'll find it on Tomberry's list.
The other options is to play 0 exp way through the entire game, then when you get jumbo cactar, level up one character at a time with a selection of stat bonus skills. You get 4 to choose from. I had 3 of my character's who's base without any magic was between 200 and 220 for several stats. One had strength maxed. Most of them had around 5000 base HP. In other words, a simple Stat + or low level magic junction maxed the rest. Ultima was on Elemental Defense :D
Yes of course, fight Elnoyle in Esthar after the lunar cry, refine the Energy Crystals to Ultimas. Or draw them from Ultima Weaopn (that's what I do...) and refine the 100 Ultima Stones you win from him Draw on Islands closest to Hell/Heaven
I actually have a good challenge that I personally would like to see for this game, No juntcion, stat up, and best weapon play through. Meaning you can't have junctions to status, you cannot use status ups, nor the Lionheart, or any other best weapon for the other characters but you can have the second best.
It's easier to just use the bonuses while you're leveling (ifrit str bonus, siren mag bonus, carbuncle vit bonus, brothers hp bonus and Leviathan spr bonus) once you have cactuar he also has all 5 bonuses
yes its easier but it also destroys the point of doing this. If you max your stats by leveling the monsters in the world will also scale up with you, so even though your character stats end up the same you will still be comparatively weaker than if you use the method in this video
To be fair, if you are maxing stats, your characters are likely at a point to wreck everything anyway. Attack 255 plus a good speed and meltdown break every boss with no exception. Maxing stats is just fluff.
the bonuses have limited use, not everyone is lv1 throughout the entire game. these items are the only way to ensure everyone can hit the max stats regardless of their initial level.
To be fair the cottage trick is the fairest way to make money. You have your ability, you take A and make B and along the added value, its plain capitalism in FFVIII!
I'm pretty sure he's referring to playing a low level game to take full advantage of the stat bonus abilities of Cactuar, but we all know that using the bonus abilities, even from level 7 to 100, will not net you 255 in any stat. They do however help out IMMENSELY.
The max gil trick is nice but really, junction magic and use the Bonus abilities early in the game and you can cap out every stat that's important., you're still going to wreck everything you want with Meltdown / Irvine / Renzokuken, or Zell if you're pro at the button taps, I was fine with just renzo & irvines shots though.
I just junctioned a bunch of magic to one character at a time and used them to fight T-rexaurs over and over outside of Balamb. I had my hp is the 6000 range, but my attack and vitality were only at about 120-130ish. I've still got a ways to go, but I'll get there...eventually.
@@goldenman732 I probably gave up before I maxed out all of my stats, but I'd like to say I had some of them maxed out or pretty high, at least. And hey, it's a surprise seeing replies on comments I made 12 years ago (that I don't remember, specifically)! Lol
It's interesting...this game is one of the oldies, yet it still beats the hell outta some of the other Final Fantasies. I recently got this game from PSN for my psp, and currently I have about 23 hours of gameplay on it, and I have squall at level 57, Zell at level 39, and then...well, the others just suck as it is now. (level 34 and below). I'm still on disc one though. :P
I have all of my characters at level 100 and almost all my GFs at level 100. I got every ultimate weapon and have pretty much done everything possible in this game. But I haven't maxed everyones stats like this, but now I know I've got something else to do. Maybe this will make Rinoa stronger when she goes into Angel Wing mode. Cause she can take off about 70,000 HP with a meteor spell, but technically, she should be able to take 100,000HP max once each hit equals 9,999 HP.
@MatrixAyoub but you're showing your people at Ultimecia Castle, in disk 4. I assumed therefore that people trying your method already had the ragnarok. Sure, not everyone knows how to get cactuar but they can look it up. But there's also bonuses on other GFs, such as mag bonus on Siren, combined with spr bonus (leviathan) and vit bonus (carbuncle) and you're golden. Not maxed, but very close when lv 100 and junctioned properly. All 3 of those GFs are drawn from bosses if you were checking.
Ability - Call Shop - Esthar Shop!!! (Go to Esther City Shopping Plaza and keep selecting "Johnny shop" it will eventually be added to your call shop ability - if its not in your call shop menu) *you need familiar ability from tonberry gf to buy cottages* *you can learn Recov Med - RF from carbuncle gf* 100 Cottages >>> Recov Med - RF >>> 10 mega potions Sell mega potions >> rinse repeat for infinite gil *GFAbl Med-RF ability learned from eden gf* (eden can be obtained from ultima weapon at deep sea research center - disc 3 - requires ragnarock to fly there* See Below for recipes regarding this farming method : *items below can be purchased in esthar pet shop* 1 SPR UP : Force Armlets or Power Wrists (esther pet shop) Use GFAbl Med-RF on 100 Force Armlets >>> 10 Magic Armlet Forbid Med - RF >>> Magic Armlets (10 Make 1 spr up) 1 STR UP : Use GFAbl Med RF on 100 Power Wrists >>> 10 Hyper Wrists Forbid Med - RF >>> 10 Hyper Wrists (10 make 1 str up) 1 HP UP : Use GFAbl Med RF on 100 Giant's Ring >>> 10 Gaea's Ring Forbid Med - RF >>> 10 Gaea's Ring (10 make 1 hp up) 1 MAG UP : Use GFAbl Med RF on 100 Hypno Crown >>> 10 Royal Crown Forbid Med - RF >>> 10 Royal Crown (10 make 1 mag up) Rinse and Repeat as needed. ...whatever
If you're doing a no-junction challenge there's no way you'll be able to do this because the GF's learn abilities by APs which can be gained via fighting with a Junctioned GF
See the island near the 1 were u fight jumbo cactuar - its called kashkabald desert and u will fight cactuars there and if u manage to kill them they give 20AP per
I was doing this today, dunno if its the best way but on heaven/hell islands I used selphies limit breaks - had squall to revive her if i wasnt quick enough but if u keep her low then u can scroll through slots and rapture always turns up soon enough. I usually used the other character to throw a gf at the monster as this gives you some extra time to find the rapture and then within about a minute you've killed a high level monster and gained exp. Selphies gone from level 22ish to 64 today :-D
GREAT tutorial to max stats. However, you should advise your viewers to NOT do this until you draw Eden from Tiamat (NOT Ultima Weapon) in Ultimecia's castle. The Deep Sea Research Center, which houses Ultima Weapon, also has fixed encounters, one of them being Tri-Faces, the most reliable source of Curse Spikes. 100 Curse Spikes = 1 Dark Matter (Tool-RF, Siren at Lvl 100) = Luck J-Scroll = Luck Up. Killing Ultima Weapon means no more fixed encounters. Good luck maxing LUCK without it.
@TheGuitarMan009 I don't remember, However I played this game more than once and I always progress with the game and when I arrive at disc 3 I begin leveling at closest to hell so it was like 30-40, and you can see the others are very low, it doesn't take much time ;)
You can also use Cactuar's Stat Up abilities across all your characters as well, and junction him along with Bahamut. You can even use a Rosetta Stone to help speed things up a bit as well. Just a bit of forewarning--because a lot of these stat boosts are very difficult to come by, I highly recommend that you try to increase Defense and perhaps Speed in this way for all of your characters. And then depending on who else you've got, then throw in HP, Str, Magic, and Spirit for good measure.
There is a much faster way to do this. You can reach the end with your characters below level 50 (actually easier than playing with them above 50) and then junction cactuar to one char and set str, mag, spr, and vit bonus in abilities, then level that person up. Partway, when str gets high enough to max, swap to hp bonus. (hp and str are easiest) Then you just junction the right magics to each stat and they'll be max with no bonus items.
I used a different money trick. It was disc 4 where all the card members were on the ship. I refine a Bahamut card for 100 Megalixers, sell them, play someone on the ship and get my Bahamut card back and repeat. I think you could make 375,000 but maybe the card game itself takes longer than your method.
@HixXxXxiH If you saw my comments before, you should've seen that I said most of the people didn't finish the CC Sidequest and are having difficulties gathering cards ;) however you're theory is 200% true and it's fast *thumbs up* :)
@Veghesther know it's kinda stupid, replying to a comment 4 months ago, but I've just seen it :P I did this video because, the main point in your GF abilities is that you gotta max their stats by junctioning magic only, no +( -- %)s Because if you could do that, you can junction other useful abilities like Auto-Haste, Counter, or junction Spd +40% and 20% since it's kinda hard to raise Your characters, then, will be as fast as a bullet ;) Thanks for you humble opinion anyway :)
What I want to know is what the downfall is to using the "up" items to max stats versus the no xp method through the game until you can ability x4 and the "bonus" abilities from the GFs to grind out max stats (Refer to Aya Brea's guide to maxing FF8). Is this method just more tedious and timing consuming? Do some people consider this a dirty method because you're spoofing GIL to dump into stats? Or is this just an interchangeable method to get max stats as well? Reason I ask is I put about 300 hours into a careful playthrough, shooting for perfect but let my characters level up through the game because I had forgotten about the "bonus" abilities from GFs. Can I "fix" that file using this method or should I start over and evade XP for a good reason?
i've noticed some guides have 9,000+ damage with a single strike in lionheart. What junction affects physical attack and what should be junctioned accordingly?
this is a great video but I will recommend to do this after you beat the game because there is no point to be very fucked up in strenght if you going to kill everyone in one shot. I recommend to do this when you beat the game so you can comeback and beat the superbosses. I did this in FF7 first beat the game and then raise my characters to max level in everything tho beat the superbosses it is funny because even after doing that the bosses can be really though
i dont know what people were expecting to see after clicking on this, yes its long and very grindy but who would think itd be a fast process? =P it does work but this type of farm is almost always very slow
I have a question im not seeing this but can you stack cactuars bonus level str up spr up vit up etc with carbuncles spr up leviathans vit up ifrits str up?
i've been trying to get the "Esthar Shop!!!" unlocked for the longest time. I've received the Rosetta Stone from the Esthar Shopping Center as well, thinking that it would do the trick. but to no avail. is there a sure-fire way to unlock said "Esthar Shop!!!" or at least find cottages sold elsewhere?
It's very difficult to be a mercenary and go out to kill monsters that has an unending population. Every monster is capable of killing you. And you call that easy? Kappa
Kevin Wu I'm pretty sure he meant that in real life you can't make money as easily as "use your esper to sinthetize a magical potion from 2 cottages and sell them" :)
I GameShark the shit out of this game on PlayStation when I first played it back in 99. Then around 2005 or so I Action Replay the shit out of this on PlayStation. Now it's 2016 and I have no cheat devices, playing it on my Vita and I gotta say, I like it better without cheats. But it don't hurt on how to max out your money...haha
I seem to be having problems. I'm up to where you first get the Ragnarok, and yet I cannot Junction Magic to Status? Elemental Attack and Defence works, but not the Status ones. I guess I'm doing something wrong then... I'm sure I unlocked them by leveling up the GF's.
@TheReaverOfDarkness gosh no room for comments. But lastly I wanna say with your method it does look a lot easier to use the stat ups and good idea if you already leveled too high. And I see my comments now. I'm dumb X.X
@MatrixAyoub Yeah, well, that's unfortunate, as that's a pretty powerful sidequest in the end. ;D But even if you don't have the CC Club quest done AND the card game finished either, you can get all missing cards from the card queen. But be warned: You will curse her like 5 times per match... I did...
@superdragonfly123 Chill dude no need to put comment twice lol :) I know that when you open the Esthar Shop!!! (aka Johnny's shop) once, you can find it in the Call Shop menu... but you can't find Cottages unless you have the Familliar ability which lets you find rare items, try to unlock it and search for Cottages again ;)
@KetsuRosataMalnor I'll do it when I finish my studying 2 weeks later or so.. :) P.S: Cannot junction magic to status only or cannot junction GF at all?
Sorry, I've just seen this 'Your opinion' is an excuse for ignorant people? Actually I think ignorance is when I stick to my own perspective, without accepting any other criticism which might be right. And actually go back to the comment, I said maybe it's time wasting but FFVIII was worth it, I want to waste my time on that great game. I have no problem about it, that's where we might differ, because you see it's not worth it, that's your opinion :) Anyway thank you for your humble criticism
@SnOwMaNSn1PeR Calm down with the aggressive language eh? :) This video was made to show how to raise the characters stats. Through the storyline, the first time I played the game (this video was recording my first time) I liked these 3 characters, the video tells how to raise any characters stat. I didn't say "Zell Excluded". I'm sorry if it bothered you... PS: Even now I use Rinoa instead of Quistis, I don't use Zell :)

You got there?
@yuna0909 It's auto-learned to GF Bahamut or you can use Hyper Wrist item to learn it to any GF you want ;)
All 3 of those GFs are drawn from bosses if you were checking.
much easier to do if you have access to chocobo world . pretty sure you can get all items, even missable key item like magical lamp
couldnt concentrate on the vid bcoz the song smashed so hard
Pseudo Pulk lol FR

FF8 is all about breakin the meta. And ma dude you jus broke it down to the quantum realm
@2678728 It's called Seymour Battle or Fight with Seymour, and yeah it plays when you encounter him for the last time :)
Awesome Guide, you should show the best way for luck and Spd to 255 too even though it'll take forever
You can also use this method to get Maxed Vit, but it takes much longer and is more expensive
If you're doing a no-junction challenge there's no way you'll be able to do this because the GF's learn abilities by APs which can be gained via fighting with a Junctioned GF
You should of use Cheat Engine.
For Str up and Vit ups i perfer devouring T-rex for Str and Adamantoise for Vit ups though, it's 10 times quicker
See the island near the 1 were u fight jumbo cactuar - its called kashkabald desert and u will fight cactuars there and if u manage to kill them they give 20AP per
Still, no matter how long it takes,if I were to replay ff8, this is what I'd do to become op instead of power leveling
Thank you very much 😎👍
@4113king This guide is to help raising stats for people who didn't use Stat Bonus abilities... Keep your trolling for yourself.
@TheGuitarMan009 I don't remember, However I played this game more than once and I always progress with the game and when I arrive at disc 3 I begin leveling at closest to hell so it was like 30-40,
and you can see the others are very low, it doesn't take much time ;)
You should of use Cheat Engine.
Always love a good FF10 song nice play guide.
If you don't have the GF Bahamut then you gotta message me, I'll tell you how to get it (full details)
(hp and str are easiest) Then you just junction the right magics to each stat and they'll be max with no bonus items.
it takes one or two eternities but it works
I used a different money trick. It was disc 4 where all the card members were on the ship. I refine a Bahamut card for 100 Megalixers, sell them, play someone on the ship and get my Bahamut card back and repeat. I think you could make 375,000 but maybe the card game itself takes longer than your method.
@HixXxXxiH If you saw my comments before, you should've seen that I said most of the people didn't finish the CC Sidequest and are having difficulties gathering cards ;)
however you're theory is 200% true and it's fast *thumbs up* :)
@sediyon You're right. I'm sorry I'll edit that, my mistake :)
@Veghesther know it's kinda stupid, replying to a comment 4 months ago, but I've just seen it :P
I did this video because, the main point in your GF abilities is that you gotta max their stats by junctioning magic only, no +( -- %)s
Because if you could do that, you can junction other useful abilities like Auto-Haste, Counter, or junction Spd +40% and 20% since it's kinda hard to raise
Your characters, then, will be as fast as a bullet ;)
Thanks for you humble opinion anyway :)
También maximice todo pero igual fue mucho tiempo, horas y horas, pero al final lo logré...que buenos recuerdos 😅
@4113king Repeating it will take the same time as using ups.
i've noticed some guides have 9,000+ damage with a single strike in lionheart.
I've received the Rosetta Stone from the Esthar Shopping Center as well, thinking that it would do the trick. but to no avail. is there a sure-fire way to unlock said "Esthar Shop!!!" or at least find cottages sold elsewhere?
wish it was that easy to make like this in real life
It's very difficult to be a mercenary and go out to kill monsters that has an unending population. Every monster is capable of killing you. And you call that easy?
Kappa
Kevin Wu I'm pretty sure he meant that in real life you can't make money as easily as "use your esper to sinthetize a magical potion from 2 cottages and sell them" :)
@Tyson55977 Thanks! I'm preparing some material to show on UA-cam, but it will take some time yet. I hope I have been useful to you!
@jHarvester phisical def is Vit magical is Spr easy to figure out though ...
i used to get 4 stats 255 with 4 abilities stat+1 from ~15 lvl at 2 famous islands with questis degeneration
Yeah..at disc 4 after u get your ship back and made sure u completed the Cc side quest. U can keep refining Bahamut for a 100 mega elixirs..
Maximillion Roivas i used codebreaker and gameshark lol
On psp bro :)
this music...ITS SO EPIC, was it seymur(forgot if its written like that) last battle theme from ffX?
Thanks for the video man
Instead of cottages, Use mesmerizer Horns, farm them a little, they arent hard to get and they make 2 mega pots each
I seem to be having problems. I'm up to where you first get the Ragnarok, and yet I cannot Junction Magic to Status? Elemental Attack and Defence works, but not the Status ones. I guess I'm doing something wrong then... I'm sure I unlocked them by leveling up the GF's.
GF Bahamut, I forgot whether it is default or you should learn it to him, check his abilities at the GF menu :)
You should of use Cheat Engine.
@TheReaverOfDarkness gosh no room for comments. But lastly I wanna say with your method it does look a lot easier to use the stat ups and good idea if you already leveled too high. And I see my comments now. I'm dumb X.X
@MatrixAyoub
Yeah, well, that's unfortunate, as that's a pretty powerful sidequest in the end. ;D
But even if you don't have the CC Club quest done AND the card game finished either, you can get all missing cards from the card queen. But be warned: You will curse her like 5 times per match... I did...
@MatrixAyoub Oh yes i'm sorry i was wrong.i didn't have the johny's shop in esthar.
Thanks and again i'm sorry :)
@superdragonfly123 Chill dude no need to put comment twice lol :)
I know that when you open the Esthar Shop!!! (aka Johnny's shop) once, you can find it in the Call Shop menu... but you can't find Cottages unless you have the Familliar ability which lets you find rare items, try to unlock it and search for Cottages again ;)
I will make guide for Spd and Luck to 255 myself :)
@KetsuRosataMalnor I'll do it when I finish my studying 2 weeks later or so.. :)
P.S: Cannot junction magic to status only or cannot junction GF at all?
Nice one!
Sorry, I've just seen this
'Your opinion' is an excuse for ignorant people? Actually I think ignorance is when I stick to my own perspective, without accepting any other criticism which might be right.
And actually go back to the comment, I said maybe it's time wasting but FFVIII was worth it, I want to waste my time on that great game. I have no problem about it, that's where we might differ, because you see it's not worth it, that's your opinion :)
Anyway thank you for your humble criticism
Well, the whole collecting things take years for defeating monsters, so....
@SnOwMaNSn1PeR Calm down with the aggressive language eh? :)
This video was made to show how to raise the characters stats.
