From the bottom of my heart - thank you. Yesterday I was trying to get Rosetta for like a 3 hours straight. After your explanation I got three of them within 15 minutes of trying. Good, in depth instruction!
Me: Pssh, yeah, right. This is going to take forever if it sounds THAT precise. **gets it the first 3 tries, every time** I stand corrected. Thank you for the video and everyone that has helped find this!
Playing on Steam, FF8 non Remastered version. I couldn't get to make this work since I didn't understand very well if it was a Remastered thing or works on all FF8, so I grinded triple triad games until i "looted" 3 Rosetta Stones. Found this video while taking a break 1 hour after that, super well explained mate and thanks for taking the time to explain step by step everything, even the "transmute object" from Rosetta Stones. Thanks a lot.
@@Diamondgaming152 Worked for me on the remastered. I got 3 in total but if the run to the door stops anywhere even for the briefest moment I was getting a potion. Took me 10 attempts to get the 3.
Very helpful for learning the timing & switches. I think I finally got the hang of the run. Just did 2 in a row. Playing on the PS4 and I did not have to restart my entire console. Thanks!
@@menfiam9161 Yep, after obtaining a Rosetta Stone and resaving I was able to "Exit" to the title screen from the menu, reload, and make another run. Again, this was on a PS4 and from what I've read it does treat this as a hard reset. In the end I wound up getting around 20 before calling it quits.
I have to say that you are the BEST person to follow this and everything thing else for FF8. Just been playing for 2 weeks and followed your Let's Play (even though I'm playing the Remastered on PS4) and you have helped me get everything plus more. I even use your before the Strategy guide to get everything. Big Ups to you man!
Just a tip for anyone playing a newer port of the game. It appears that if you use the 'no encounters' mode in the game (rather than using the Diablos ability) it seems to mess with the RNG and you won't get the Rosetta stone. Might be coincidence but as soon as I stopped using it I started getting them.
I kept the in-game no encounter feature on after the first transition out of the cell and it didn't affect the outcome. I nabbed 4 Rosetta Stones in no time. I always did the run at regular speed and only switched to 3x speed during the 54 declines. The timing for the run is just super tight, you have to nail every transition as quick as possible with no fumbling.
May 2020 This is still working on my remaster for PS4. It has to be perfect, no hesitations or snags on any walls. If you even feel like you hit something or slowed down, just exit game and start again. It took a lot of practice but I've got 2 stones so far.
Another tactic is... go out the Cell with save point go up and when you come to the last screen where you push up and up right dont move after the screen goes black then you have to count from the start after you exit Cell with save point and count to 1:09 then enter deny 2 times and boom rosetta stone
Good guide. You can also get Rosetta Stones by farming cursed spikes and making them into Dark Matter. GF Eden can make Dark Matter into a Rosetta Stone.
curse spikes can be obtained from tri-faces by mugging (use zell in deep sea research centre and punch the console or door to force enemy battles which means continuous tri-face battles). or refine 1 tri-face card for 1 curse spike.
Chiming in years late to add that it doesn't matter if you use the directional pad or the joystick. It might work at 3x speed on PS4 but I didn't try. You can use 3x speed when saying no to card games, though. I managed to get rosetta stones even with a slight hiccup at the door (last gasp) which is easier to do smoothly with the joystick imho. That part requires a up AND right (not left) to get through. Exiting from the menu is fine to reset after saving. You don't have to exit the game fully or power down or anything. Queen is in Balamb.
I only got it with the 55 method, but thanks you teach me how fast I can go. I have this video on my favourite bar since you posted but only now im playing and watching xD
I just wanted to add that it's ok to get into a battle as long as you still keep your timing perfect as the battle ends. I just got a stone and got in a battle on the way.
shirox11 hey I’ve tried just now and it’s actually possible to do it with the x3 turned on but it took more tries with than without it. I’m trying to 100% this but this rosetta stone farming made me rethink my decision. lol

Works! Thanks! On the last screen before the door i held (up) direction for a split second after screen loads then (right) and smoothly transitioned into the door. This was the toughest part for me
The 55 wasn't working for me and I tried so many times, I was about to gave up when I read that I could try the 140 times and it worked perfectly! So thank you very very very much!
Just wanna say that the 3x speed on the remaster fucks this up, at least for me. Multiple attempts and nothing but when I do it with 3x off, it works just fine. Don't know why you'd need more than 3 though. Once you have all the GFs, set your your Strength, Magic and Defense stuff since each GF falls within one of those categories (for instance, Squall is Strength, Zell is Defense, Rinoa is Magic) and just give the 4x Ability to one GF in each of those categories and then just junction exchange if you have to use another character
Confirmed this works on the Switch version of FF8 Remastered. To do the hard reset, I save the game, then hit the Home button and close the game application with the X button.
There is a much easier way to get the Rosetta Stone! Pretty much the same moves but at different times. But no 54 times bs. Save game on Floor 10, hard reset. Now, the timer will not start until you leave the save room cell. You want to get a timer and set it to 1 min 9 secs. I usually got here at 45-44 secs. ***(this is where it’s changes) do not press anything on the last load screen, wait until your timer beeps and press up(1sec) then up/right to enter the cell with the card player. The timer stops when you enter this room. Talk to the guy, deny twice and then accept and you should get a Rosetta Stone. If you didn’t, tweak your timer and # of times you deny. Mine was 1.08 and denying him once then playing. Got it every time. You shouldn’t have to deny him more then 2 times. make sure you are pressing up at 0. Playing on an emulator, btw. It needs to be pulled off precisely as mentioned, there is such a small margin of error. Make sure you are doing the hard resets and holding the directional pad as the screen loads.
Does anyone that understand Portuguese want to help me with this? If Google Translate is right and you did this 10 times without winning usually you are missing a key step, like the hard reset. Thanks a lot, dude!
hard reset deez
I got potion :(
It needs to be pulled off precisely as mentioned, there is such a small margin of error. Make sure you are doing the hard resets and holding the directional pad as the screen loads.
Timothy Burrows thank you so much! I tried doing this again today and it worked! I was super nervous on my first tries xD youre the best!
thanx man
chaos 00 you’re welcome.
i did it now big thanx bro on ps3
Joguei 100 vezes não ganhei dos rosetta stones
Does anyone that understand Portuguese want to help me with this?
If Google Translate is right and you did this 10 times without winning usually you are missing a key step, like the hard reset. Could also be that you are switching running positions too late or early. Also, make sure the Queen of Cards is not in Galbadia.
@@timothyburrows9622 I don't speaking english, but I try,
I play triple triad 100 times, but I don't get rosetta Stone, you understand me?
@@hellishcrossfire1 Make sure you are following the steps exactly as written. Usually there is one thing people forget to do which causes it not to work.
@@timothyburrows9622 so, I need to lose 10 times for him?
@@hellishcrossfire1 No if you do all the other steps you challenge him 54 times and quit the card game. Then you challenge him, beat him, and then get the Rosetta Stone.
