Awesome video Jim, I have never built anything because I am numb from the neck down, however watching your videos is truly inspiring! Keep up the great work!
Just redoing my jig, didn’t square it so when I fitted the bottom plate I had issues. I hadn’t glued any of the frames to together so no major issue to pull apart again. I made the mistake of thinking the jig was square because it was when made it a year ago it was. Amazing how much it moved/twisted in a year. Now I’ve screwed it to the floor which looks like you did as well, lessened learned. Great video, I took lots of screen shots.👌🙏
Jasus Jim , your flying. Looking super. A lot of screws for the strongback I'd say , you can borrow my nail gun for the next one :-). Keep up the good work, Josh
Wow Jim ! She is looking great ... I think you are going to progress faster than me very soon. I'm really rushing for no other reason than wanting to park my vehicles in the garage during the Canadian winter months !
hi jim, great progress..and very informative.....I am thinking of getting into it myself but not quite sure of end costs,,would you be able to shed some light on the total cost, a seaworthy boat..I know there are variations in exactly what equipment but there must be an average figure,. thanks.
Hi Thierry, so far I've spent €15 K and probably another €10 to go. More than I initially expected but to buy good gear, that is the approximate cost. Jim
Hi Jim, 15K, what currency? So that is only for the cut wood with no fibreglass, does the plan mention any hardware fittings, mast, boom, running stays etc, is that all going to be extra ? and does it explain how to build it? you seem to be the only builder. Thx for any info
@@thierryeymard9259 Hi again Thierry, have you checked out the builders blog on the eGlobe 580 website ? There are about twenty active builders adding to their blogs, though mine is a bit behind !
Hi There, I bought the kit from Fyneboats in the U.K. The kit may have changed slightly since I bought mine, so check on their website. Happy building.
Hi Jim Maybe you can answer this question, are these boats going to be trailable, can the mast come off and the keel lift up or will they need to be lifted or craned into the water like the mini 650.. And have you got all the details for the mast etc.. Anyway keep having fun...
Good stuff Jim. I was contemplating doing the epoxy on all the frames prior to hanging them all on the jig. Would you see any issues if I was to do that?
Hi Daniel, I was going to do that and now I wish I had ! I'm at the planking stage and thinking about sealing each frame bit by bit. So yes, if you can, it will be reassuring to know they are sealed up. You are going to taking bits off each frame to seat the stringers and plane the sides to match the angle of the plywood, so you will have a new rough edge for epoxy anyway. Best of luck, Jim
Hi Gerald, I have been very poor at posting. The trip is done and finished. It's all on Tiktok. But I will post it all here asap. Thank you for the kick. Jim

What a great thing to do - do you mind me asking where you got the kit made and how much it cost ?
Hi There, I bought the kit from Fyneboats in the U.K. The kit may have changed slightly since I bought mine, so check on their website. Happy building.
Are you going to take part in the Atlantic race?
Yes, that's the plan, a long overdue plan of mine.
Hi Jim

Hi Thierry, the mast can come down easily and the keel can be unscrewed, or you can treat it like a 650 and leave everything on.
