Thanks Jim ,your blog is full of useful info for anyone considering building a boat ! Under covid restrictions is the only thing that prevents me volunteering my services to help you , so much to learn !
Well done this looks like a very neat planking job. You clearly know how to work wood for sure. It looks fantastic, it looks clean and solid. Now for the strat on the joins and then the hull well I hope you have a good heating system in your garage/extension cos with the weather we have at the moment it's far from ideal. Fantastic progress and look forward to your next update. ;-) no reason to loose your marbles and tbh to sail we all do have one or two marbles missing lol !!! But then again we live only once and if you followed the VG then you can see the relief of each skipper as they arrive - You will too be delighted when you'll have your first sail on the very boat your built. Don't know your plans for sailing but all I can say is fair play to you. As you may see from my side my boats are somehow a bit smaller again but then I don't have to step on them lol.
Looking great. Would love to see the process of laying down your stringers. I wonder if glassing in some carbon fiber would be an alternative to the metal stripping you're planning to use.
My aim is to launch by May. I think I'm over halfway and hope to turn over by mid February. Then minimalist fit out and deck. No holes through the hull. Day by day...

Looks wonderful , please do an update !
Lookin real good now

Hi Wil, unfortunately carbon fiber is banned from this boat ! It's part of the regulations to keep it old school and available to everyone. Jim
Jim if you lose your marbles the noise of them rolling around the bilge will drive you to lose more .Are you insulating the interior ?
Hi john, I haven't planned on insulation, I'm just aiming to get it on the water !
Would you consider taking me along Jim? I wouldn't take up much space and could use the break.
Any time Robert, long time no talk ?
@@liffeysailor3493 I'm not in the least surprised you're doing this. Very much something you'd do. Lots of luck with it!!
@@robertbradshaw9367 Thanks Robert, give me a call, loads to talk about ? Jim
Hi Jim, did you have a job in the sea?
Unfortunately not Katya, I'm making up for a life as a landlubber !
Well done Jim! I love the size of the boat. When do you estimate launching?
My aim is to launch by May. I think I'm over halfway and hope to turn over by mid February. Then minimalist fit out and deck. No holes through the hull. Day by day...
Another question ? Is your Mark III windvane working on a trim-tab ?
@@liffeysailor3493 yes it has a trim tab. Check out this video about building one. ua-cam.com/video/gA7OdsZOccw/v-deo.html
Any update on the build? Seemed to just fizzle out 🤷♂️ a bridge to far or budget/time constraints?
Ah I see a reply to a previous post asking the same. I don't do tiktok but best of luck with your travels. Fair winds👍
Hi Lee, I"ve built the boat and finished the trip. Apologies for not posting on here but I was so busy.
