I have done a 24 hour fast, once a week for the past 36 years. I do it for spiritual discipline as well, but feel like it gives me a new starting point every week. I drink liquids, so I have no problem functioning like normal…but it gives me a little more time as well!

I started doing it on the day I was born (Thursday) every week & on my birth date ...once a month

Fasting is actually a lot easier than people think. I'm doing a 36hr (Monk Fast) once a week. From 7pm Friday night until 7am Sunday morning. After just 3 fasts, your body feels comfortable and happy to do fasting. I drink only water and clear Rooibos tea with nothing added during the fast with a nice long walk in the afternoon, not challenging, just about 2km. Your body experiences fasting like a rush and your sleep is sublime. It's natural healing at its best.

Well I have been thinking about loosing weight and stop drinking alcohol for the past few or more years. I am 50, 285 and Monday I woke up and decided I am done being big and a drunk. I stopped drinking and started researching what to do. I was curious about fasting and you cleared it up for me. Thanks. I can do it. I know I can. Without a doubt I can. I want to be 200 before my 51st birthday. That is March. I will reach that goal.

Eric keep that mindset and you will do it, well done for taking the first step to being healthier, you only get one life and why waste it. If you want to stop drinking read a book called ‘alcohol lied to me’ it’s an eye opener, also if you search on UA-cam you will see a guy called Craig beck that is he’s book he also does videos to watch, I have been on and off with quitting alcohol for a couple of years but really don’t want it anymore as it doesn’t benefit my life at all, good luck with your journey and just remember take it day by day 👍🏼

Just completed my first 24 hour fast. Now preparing to repeat it 2 days later. I feel great and confident I can continue this once or twice a week. I feel a sense of control over my eating which feels great! Thanks for the video☺️

Hey seejanetwirl 👋🏽. I gotta question, after U do your 24hr fast,, U eat then start your regular IF the next day?..So from 6pm-6pm is 24hrs then 615pm U eat food then start your IF regular time the next day

In the middle of my second 24 hr fast...i was so scared the first time...i was worried about my energy...concentration ...productivity at work ....but hey!!!! I BECAME I POWER HOUSE....just blasting thru the day. I couldnt believe it. So am doing it again.

Thank you for this video. I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. Back in grad school, I used to fast from dinner Friday evening until dinner Saturday evening. Just had water. Took a long hot bath Friday night and slept in on Saturday mornings. By the time I got up and took care of some chores like laundry, vacuuming, etc. and studied for a few hours, it was time to eat dinner on Saturday. So I really did not feel deprived. I’m going to start back again to fast one day a week. I was doing it then for spiritual reasons. But now now I also want to do it for weight loss. I’m trying to get down to my college weight of 120 pounds.

@@briansyuki Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and for this video. I am already intermittent fasting 12 hours a day, from 8pm until 8am. I hope to extend this fasting to 16 hours. After age 60, it is really hard to control or lose weight because of the extreme decrease in metabolism after age 60. It’s going to be hard work but I want to get back to 120 pounds by New Years Day 2024. ❤️Best wishes to you also.

My first 24 hr fast was difficult, but hot black coffee curbed my hunger and gave me energy to help me get through it along with lots of water. I like to fast at work because I'm too busy to think about it and not tempted with snacks at home. At 6:30 pm tonight at work will be my fourth fast for the month. It is getting soo much easier and ready for more challenges.

Fasting is very effective. been doing this for the last two weeks. I am doing OMAD (one meal a day) and low carb diet and it really works!
I have been doing it for 4 months, from 215 to 170. It really works and it’s easy.

When Minister Farakkhan was telling brothers and sister to do the one meal a day procedure; no one wanted to listen to him. They were saying he doesn't know what he's talking about. The european doctors were saying we need 3 meals a day and everyone stayed doing that. Now everyone is preaching one meal a day.

@@briansyuki Can you have green tea during the 24 hour fast or just water?
@@yooper9062 green tea, black tea, and black coffee are all ok during a fasting period as long as they are unsweetened (and no milk of course).
I do lunch to lunch Once a week ... I find it difficult to go the whole day without, but I can eat a big lunch finishing around 1:30pm ... then the next day go to a HIIT class at 11:30, followed by a yoga class at 12:30pm .. get home around 2pm and then start with a protein shake with mct oil. It's not difficult if you keep yourself occupied ... but don't start with 24 hours .... start with 12 hours and move up an hour each week.
Most important is make your last meal before you fast one that is mainly protein and fats .. it makes it much easier if you have your blood sugar under control.

I’ve been doing a 32 hour fast for a month. On my fourth one today. It gets easier each time. It’s kinda… spiritual honestly. It feels good while also being challenging at times, but nothing I can’t handle. I have digestive issues and they’re been hugely improved. It’s the same level of improvement I felt after getting off gluten.

@@briansyuki Still going great this week! I broke my fast yesterday due to a kind offer of yummy food, so I’m doing it today. But, yesterday, I was actually disappointed… and my body FELT disappointed for breaking the fast. It’s like the desire to eat was just flipped on it’s head. Amazing.

I'm 28 and have been lifting on and off for 12 years with pretty crap diet and just unintentionally did a 24 hour fast for the first time ever, surprisingly I am more focused and have more energy to get by the day and crush a workout. This is really strange to me, I'm at a point right now where I can eat if I want to or I could choose not to and go longer. I can literally see the difference in the mirror from just this one day and it's so fast. kinda motivating.

I just finished my first 24 hour fast, and I feel great, I walk 30 minutes and did a little Weight lifting with 10 pounds, I will continue to do at least intermittent fasting each week with a 24 hour one day a week!Thank you for your guidance, it may take a little time but we all can do it for our health and longevity! I don't, because you are starving when you go to bed and you wake up earlier because you are so hungry. If you have dinner you go to bed and wake up as normal, and then only have to wait till evening to eat.

I have been doing 24 hour fasting for religious and health purpose. It feels really good. I follow exactly like what Brian has explained in this video, from Sunday night 8 PM to Monday night 8 PM. It helps a lot, if you are a diabetic or in pre-diabetic stage. But, insulin dependent diabetics need to take caution and do it in consultation with the doctor.
Yes, it's always advisable to see a doctor in cases of pre existing conditions. All the to you!
Should be from Sunday 8pm - Tuesday 8pm. That’s a real 24 hour fast because you’re cutting out a whole day

First time doing a 24 hour fast. I've been doing intermittent fasting for about 2 months now. I had an mri today at 12:30 and didn't get home till 2p.m so I went longer than usual without eating anyways. I figured I could push myself to get to 7:30p.m to complete my first ever 24, hour fast. Gotta say it really isn't that bad.
You'll get used to it pretty soon
If you start a fast after breakfast (not eating till the next breakfast), you will sleep through the worst of your energy crash. Just an idea for anyone struggling with starting after dinner.
I was thinking of doing the 24 hour fast this way. I enjoy breakfast much more than lunch and dinner, so was thinking to eat breakfast and not eat again until the next morning. I was hoping Coach Brian was going to touch on that.

Hi I’ve been doing a lot of research into IF and i decided to do 36:12 fast 3 times a weeks I’m in my second one this week currently this is the first time doing this length unused to do 12.12 , my first day was Monday I stopped eating 7-pm on Sunday night and had food Tuesday 7am for 12 hours, then stopped again last night being 7pm and won’t eat again till 7am tomorrow basically every other day fast, I want to loose weight as I have PCOS and have gained a lot of weight I don’t look the woman in the mirror, I found my fast okay at the start as I wouldn’t usually eat till after lunch anyway but i usually late night snack so I found the evening very difficult and I ended up sleeping very early and felt a little weak, and on my feeding day even after food I still felt hungry I think it’s to do with the kind because wouldn’t usually eat the times I was hungry anyway but I’ve lost 4lb in the first fast it’s probably water weight but it’s helps to motivate me.

This is actually easier than I thought it would be. I thought for sure I would have felt weak and lightheaded but I’m surprisingly feeling great. I work 430am-1pm so I wake at 2am n drink black coffee and don’t eat until I get home from work. On my 3rd day in a row and I’m loving it.

I have done a 24 hour fast now once a week for several weeks, and I think it is improving my relationship with food, and my skin has improved a little, mainly I think because my improved relationship with food means I am more careful about what I eat during the rest of the week,

The main benefit for me is the actual feeling of having an empty stomach and almost feel thinner to touch around my waist.
I work shifts and it really messes with my eating habits and what I eat.
This is a good idea becuase fasting every single day is a pain. Buy just for once week not to bad. Plus the 36 hours fast are too tough to do I just end up eating. Who wants to stick to a fasting period every day. The 24 hour fast will greatly help weight loss. This is much better approach for me
