The 1gr-fe valve lash check is the same as this. You could pull the piston and check the rings and cylinder wall. Could be cheaper to rebuild than buy a used one.
do a leak down test on cylinder three and check where the leak is coming out from, from exhaust, intake, radiator, or another spark plug hole on cylinder 5 or 7. If you get air coming out of spark plug hole on cylinder 5 or 7 then it's a head gasket leak between cylinders. If you get bubbles coming out of the radiator cap then it's a head gasket leak into the coolant galleys. Either way it's a head gasket. On the manual for a 2005 vvt the specs on valve clearance are for the intake 0.15 - 0.25 mm (0.006 - 0.010 in.) , for the exhaust it's 0.25 - 0.35 mm (0.010 - 0.014 in.) had a misfire on my 05 sequoia P0304. did leak down test. There was leakage coming from cylinder 2 spark plug hole when I would inject 100psi on cylinder 4. It's a head gasket or cracked block. Highly unlikely a cast iron block would crack on this motor.
Thanks for the video! I also have a 2004 sequoia, it skipped timing and I’m trying to determine carnage. You mentioned that it’s a NON VVTI engine, would that mean it’s not an interference engine? Could this mean that my engine could be ok?
@archivegarage7638 I would think so aswell if it had oil changes done on time I would be surprised to see piston ring failure at that mileage, I just bought my 2003 tundra with a trd supercharger on with 127k miles and I'm a little nervous on how the 2UZ will hold up at higher mileage with boost I've got a Japanese produced engine in it though from before the Alabama plant opened and supposedly those rods handle boost a little better

Interference refers to how close the valves are to the piston. The 2UZ-FE is an interference engine.
By looking at your yellow metals i can tell that oil was not changed regularly so you have seeze ring in addition this motors use oil to adjust valves
Out of pure curiosity, how many miles are on that 2UZ
259,000 and I believe it is rare for the piston/rings to be hurt at those miles.
