Harley backrest repair. Loose inside screws that wont come out.

I got a 2003 harley backrest off Ebay that was loose and screws that held the pad onto the frame had come apart inside the pad.
First step is to remove the staples at the bottom of the pad, open it up, then grap the backside of the screws with vice grips and remove the screws. Then pull the foam and cardboard backing out of the leather, trace the cardboard onto a piece of plywood and cut. Tip, make the plywood about an inch on each side smaller to fit easily into the leather. Purchase new stainless wood screws to go through the bracket, into the leather and into the plywood. Make sure you drill a pilot hole into the wood without going through the other side into the foam and leather. I screwed it all together to make sure it fit nicely, then took it apart to staple, as it would be a lot easier to staple without the frame in the way. Once stapled, screwed the frame back on, then mounted onto Fatboy.
