@ Mobile Internet Resource Center, Glad you liked it and always happy to pass along a good resource that helps other RVers. Thank you guys for all the info you share!
Thanks for the info. We are getting unlimited ATT no throttle for $34.99 a month. Nighthawk Router and dual Yagi MIMO antennae’s mounted on outside ladder. Outstanding results.
My wife and I use the Unlimited data AT&T DataConnect plan for $35/mo in the Netgear Nighthawk M1 router. Supports 2x2 external mimo antenna. Plan is great no throttling at all. We used well over 250GB last month with no issue. FYI, you will need a IMEI from an AT&T tablet to get plan but eBay has them (including pictures of the IMEI).
This is what I ended up going with too, and it works great! We tried setting up a "non-Verizon" device with Verizon but it reverted to a hotspot and went down to 15GB data a month which wasn't worth it.
What's the download speed like? I don't have an RV, but live way out where cable isn't an option and am tired of tethering. Already have AT&T but sometimes can barely stream Netflix. Wondering if this is something I could add to my existing plan.
I work remotely so a reliable connection is imperative for me Monday through Friday so I can connect to my company's network through a VPN. I have had good luck with my cell phone hot spot in most states I travel to, but there are sometimes I have no 3G or 4G signal for over an hour while on the road. I've had to pull over at McDonalds in the middle of nowhere to jump on the free wi-fi to be able to work or to get on a skype call.
Heart broken and warmed knowing this channel will die someday. This is the first video I’ve watched of yours, in need of knowing a solid setup for my first camper. This video is amazing and super helpful. But I think the technology will outpace the relevance of this well put together piece of art. Bleh! Cheers!
We use Visible. A cell phone service that is 40.00 a month and unlimited data. We use a 19.99 phone as a hotspot and a HooToo Nano router to connect multiple devices. Works for us.
I don't have an RV, but live way out where cable isn't an option and am tired of tethering. Already have AT&T but sometimes can barely stream Netflix. Saw another video on the Visible plus HooToo router. Wondering if this would work for me for daily internet.
James Moore sorry I forgot to ask you why I need a hoo too tourer? Thanks sorry for all the questions i’m an old guy and $40 for the month is about all I can afford... do I need to sign a contract with visible?
We have ToGo. Love it so far. I'm downloading a PS4 game (10 gigs) , kids watch a Pokemon movie the other night. I think we've probably used 50-75 gigs so far. Also it's a WiFi repeater, but so far I don't have any need to hook up to anyone elses WiFi.
Jared, if you are ever in Rapid City, SD, and don't mind going to a full hookup campground, the Rushmore Shadows RV Resort on Rt 16, about 10 miles south, has the absolute BEST WiFi I've ever gotten in any campground. I was able to connect with my iPhone, iPad, and laptop, EVERYTIME, and without any kind of booster (I don't own one...yet). Sorry, but I can't exactly tell you the per night cost as I am a Coast To Coast member so my stay was free. Be safe, have fun, and happy camping. v/r, TS Denver, Co P.S. - Hope you don't have to deal with anymore hurricanes (or him-icanes).
The Togo Roadlink C2 is a great option. We asked to have that installed when we picked up the new 5th wheel. To my knowledge, it's currently the only TRULY unlimited high speed mobile internet option available. There is no throttling after X amount of GB, only slow down is if there is heavy traffic but you're back up to speed when it lightens up. We like that we can have up to 10 devices connected to it. And it can be used as a WiFi extender if need be. We also use a Verizon MiFi for a second option.
With everything they are putting in RVs these days I'm surprised they have integrated some of this equipment into the rigs. Not every weekender would need it but it would be nice option. Its almost 2020 and internet is a "must have" right up there with electricity. How are you going to watch your Netflix on a rainy day without solid internet ? Great video - thanks for the info!
I bought an inexpensive cell phone extender from Amazon. Not only didn't it work well but I got a visit from an AT&T Tech who shut me down because I was interfering with his public network. He checked over the install and said it was installed correctly but the unit was defective. I was the third person he visited that day doing the same thing. He said he had been taking bad units off the air for months. So buy the best unit you can find and leave the cheap units Amazon sells alone.
We have a jetpack and love it. Most of the time we use opensignal and we have the Verizon unlimited plan. Haven't needed anything else so far. However......sometimes we LOVE being disconnected. Get out of the RV sometimes and re-connect with the outdoors. I mean, that's why we are out here right? Good info.
I just read on their website that the jetpack is only limited to 15 gigs though I can get the same thing on my hotspot. Do they have something unlimited
Hey I am moving to Arizona and I will be living full time in my RV trailer and I am pretty much going to be staying in Arizona south for the most part and I need the internet so I can do my banking and pay the two bills I have one is capital one but I am going to set it up so they can make auto withdraw
This very valuable information, we were trying to figure out how to go about the getting internet on the road this is very helpful. Thanks and keep giving valuable information.
Hello! Excuse my ignorance... can we just buy a MiMo jet pack and use it with a current cell service (T-Mobile) to connect our phones/laptop/smart TV ???
Now I just now realized you have a toaster oven where the microwave normally sits. Do you like that more than the microwave? Does it blow the breaker often or do you have to turn everything off to use it?
We do like the toaster oven better than the microwave. We can have it on with one other larger device on because we are only 30 amps for our RV. So the AC can be on or electric heat. It’s not a big deal we are just always aware of how much we use anyway.
FMCA gets a great discount for Verizon or Sprint for unlimited data. Both for $49.99. Verizon unfortunately if you by an urban area at all, throttles out at 25GB
Does anybody know how to improve signal quality? not signal strength like I can hook up the weboost and it goes from around 2-3 bars(103-110dbm) to full bars -50dbm but the quality hovers around 7-10 sometimes 10-15 and the internet crawls. Is the quality based off tower traffic? It goes to 7 like midnight to mid afternoon then sometimes just falls off to like 10-15 and sucks for a few hours...
Thanks Jared! Are there limits on the number of devices that can be connected at once on your typical setup? Thinking about all the iPhones, iPads and TVs that come along with glamping. 😊
Hot Spots all have a max device at one time limitation usually 10+, but it will be displayed in the specs of what you buy. I choose to use a Netgear LTE router instead of a hotspot so I can use more standard wifi equipment instead of all in one hotspots that all tend to drop connection intermittently. I have the same Verizon plan and hotspot that the author does here, but I only use the hotspot as a backup to my Netgear LTE router
@@glutenfreebear976 Thanks! I'll have to look into the Netgear LTE router as well. We hope to full-time RV at some point and having reliable internet service will be a must.
Great information. It would be great to know about servicing the truck and what you do to service the trailer, what do you spend a year on services. What do you do yourself and what do you get done at a service centre, just an idea.
Always look to your video's for your opinion. Are these better than just using your cell phone as a hot spot? My truck has internet through on star, How is this in comparison?
Cellphone as a hotspot works great too if you're able to get a good data signal. An advantage of the jetpack is that you can connect dual external MIMO antennas for better reception.
My girl and I just bought our first rv. In December our lease is up and we’re heading out to the road to live. Anyone have any pointers? Never owned an rv. What do we absolutely need and what would make life easier?
Thank you! Another helpful and well-produced video!👍 Does the jet pack really provide those download and upload speeds? I have never seen anything like that. Is there a specific plan (I know yours’ is no longer available) that provides similar speed.....and at what cost? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Does anyone know if there is a way you can find RV sites that have GOOD service. Just using the verizon, ATT, Sprint coverage maps are not good enough.
maybe I missed it, but you talked a lot about the white item that you used when you have no cell signal as your back up, but you never say what its called?
Thanks for the info. We were recently at a small park where WiFi was an only option and due to being the furthest away, a booster would have been nice. Thanks for the info.
You gotta go through Bix Wireless. Unlimited internet through AT&T (NO throttling) for $99 a month. Just signed up for it and heard about it through Mountain Top Adventures.
A good communicator/teacher has to put themselves in the place of the student, imagine what they know and don't know and what they need to know to understand the subject. Then they have to fill in the blanks from A to Z while leaving nothing out so there will be few questions. I'm going to explain what I and I imagine everyone needs to know on this subject. 1. In order to make an internet connection in an RV, you need to be able to pick up a WIFI signal. Most modern computers and cell phones have that capability. 2. It is my experience that every signal source requires a password for access. 3. Once you have the password, then you need to get a strong signal for your computer to work as designed. I have Verizon service for my 4G LTE cell phone and it and my laptop can get on the internet if I have a password. 5. So, if I can't get a password, how can I get on line? I have looked into the "Visible" service a little. It SEEMS that while using Verizon through their $40 a month plan, I will get a usable connection to the internet on my cell phone without a password. Then if I connect my phone to a $20+- router, my computer can receive the signal from my phone. If I have a weak cell signal from Verizon, I can get a cell phone booster. Is that the case as you understand it? Will a service like Visible send me a Password free signal? Thanks!
How about a vid on getting sports channels on TV while on the road. Nothing seems easy, simple, inexpensive, without problems or lots of equipment to carry.
Why not use a Chromecast or Firestick...you probably a friend or family that would let you "borrow" their login credentials to access the ESPN app. We subscribe to MLB TV so we're able to get the Cubs games. Best $80 I spend a year!
Could you please address why Blu-Ray players don't seem to be available for RVs? I messaged our RV media manufacturer but never received a reply--which tells me that it isn't available.
I just found your channel and I’m really enjoying it! I’m at recreational RVer with kids. I’m curious how you handle that internal Wi-Fi? I’m trying to figure how we can use Apple TV or smart TVs in different rooms. Can the jet pack hook up to a router?
We use our Apple TV in different rooms, both of the devices are connected to the hotspot as well as computers, phones, kindles, and video game devices.
Brian Walker for cell boosters, you just need to make sure channels and frequencies align with the country you are going into. For example TELUS in canada works on different frequencies and channels which do not align to T-Mobile but does align to bell. So to answer your question. Yes and no. You need to do your homework
Has anyone in this community had experience with Satellite internet? I imagine that because of the dish that is probably required it isn't a very good option. Thoughts?
slightly miffed at all the "i got this or that plan which is grandfathered etc" responses. tell me what I can get, not what only you and select others already have that I cannot get. You want to help others get super internet then tell the rest of us what IS out there for us newbs not what is long gone. we will be mobile in a RV fulltime and need about 100-200gb a month mostly for streaming video netflix etc, what are our options that are simple to hook up, cost effective and don't require thousands of dollars of gear or a PHD in electronics? Waiting for the floodgates to open.....

The Mobile Internet resource center does the best job of keeping the most up to date info on plans you can get. It’s a full time job to keep that info updated and they do it well. Plans change so fast and there always seems to be a new one.
We were told the Verizon plan was terminated for new subscribers (we have one, btw). We tried to replace the jetpack with a new machine and they said it would cancel the service.
Do you have any idea how many times you say “this” and point to something without telling us what “this” is? Aggravating searching the internet to buy “this”
I bought the Weboost and tried it at Big Lake Arizona, and it was a complete failure. There are spots that work at Big Lake without any boosters, but not with the weboost. Do not recommend the Weboost.
Same here. I have been involved for over 35 years with antennas and such and the Weboost is the most useless product I have ever tried. I has been to areas that it should have work but didn't. On the other hand the Netgear MIMO antenna has worked very very well for 32 dollars. You just have to put it in the RIGHT window facing the tower.
Interesting the companies in the US cancel programs willy nilly. I. The great White North Canada Once you are subscribing to a program, you are able to continue that low rate with the same services ....for ever.... They can't just stop serving you. or change the price. I have a cell phone program I've had for 25 years and pay $25 per month and receive the same service as people paying over 4100 per month. I don't have the data end tied to my phone because it wasn't available but for cell phone use I'm good with that price. If YOU decide to change plans then all bets are off and you can't go back.
Do you have to climb up and remove the booster (as well as all your other equipment) every time you make a video? Then go and reinstall the equipment? If so, thanks. What a pain in the A**. Everytime I watch one of your videos I think, poor guy has to uninstall and reinstall all this just for us!

Do you have any idea how many times you say “this” and point to something without telling us what “this” is? Aggravating searching the internet to buy “this”
at 1:09 he tells what "This is".
Starlink can’t get here fast Enid
I completely agree.
$4,100 per month???!
Can it be
Do you have to climb up and remove the booster (as well as all your other equipment) every time you make a video? Then go and reinstall the equipment?
If so, thanks. What a pain in the A**.
Everytime I watch one of your videos I think, poor guy has to uninstall and reinstall all this just for us!
Those Verizon MiFi devices have HORRIBLE reviews everywhere. They work for you?
