Great video, I see that u seriously take this topic
I think that grip is always faster than drift, can you do time attack in same RWD car in grip & drift?
Grip is faster unless your doing a rally stage with sharp corners
Especially on narrow touge, the fastest driving style is a mix between grip and drift. Sliding the car slightly with the g's and applying minimal countersteer allows you to corner at a high speed and maintain a high RPM for quicker acceleration. I'm not saying to do this on every corner since on some corners the increased friction will make it slower but my point is that there's no black and white answer to whether grip or drift is actually faster. In circuit racing there is a black and white answer because drifting kills the tires which makes it completely not viable. Like you mentioned there are also some more rally stage style touge out there like Irohazaka and Shomaru that are tight enough to make drifting the fastest but these are exceptions.
@@paint4r drifting is faster on loose materials, in rain or in tight hairpins, grip is faster in some cases and slip angle is almost always the best

I know this video is sorta old, but I noticed during the second type of drift that if you let go of the throttle while shifting to the opposite direction then go all out when shifting the wight that you get more control during the drift
Yes! You’re preventing the rear wheels from gaining too much traction in the initiation that way.
Hey bro! Nice video!
What map did you use for this? It looks like a great drift practice map and want to try it out. Thanks!
Also: how fast do you go right before drifting in the handbrake drift?
Thanks! The map is called Fujigoko, it’s one of my favorites. As for the handbrake drift, I’d say about the same speed if you were going to grip in the corner, depending on the car. It may be faster or slower, but if you’re using a car like mine with medium power and crappy tires, medium is the way to go.

When I did a Clutch-Kick drift, First, I stepped the clutch with the gas pedal and switched gears, And it works best for me!
Any countersteering needed for the clutch kick one? Pls answer
lancedanoob
When you drift in any way, you’re basically guaranteed to need to countersteer. I like to watch the front bumper to see how I need to correct. Once I get to a comfy slip angle, I just try my best to keep it there throughout the drift. And when I’m at the corner exit, I gradually reduce angle until I am no longer slipping.
Very good video for beginers. And btw What is name of that map? I want to download it :)
Map is called ‘Fujigoko’ and it’s a great drift map! But beware, never EVER try to drive to the top of the map on dirt roads.

I just wanna know what car is best for drifting, and what map is best for drifting. (without mods)
Here we use another technique Before a sharp turn, simply engage the 1st gear, clutch so that the wheels block thanks to the engine brake
Then engage the 2nd gear to continue the drift :D
(Sorry for my bad english)
The English doesn't matter because it's great, also that's great driving technique
Nice vid man, do you mind sharing your FFB settings for your t150?

Thanks, dude! I have the force feedback turned all the way up, and the smoothness is low, just enough so that it doesn’t cause a feedback loop and vibrate if you flick it and let go. More videos coming soon! ;)
@@L00PdeL00P If you have the chance would you mind telling me the exact values you use for Strength and smoothing in game? Cheers in advance.
@@L00PdeL00P Also what wheel rotation degrees are you using?
Well, I guess i can be takumi now.
What are some places to practice my drifting and how long is the estimated time to learn drifting?
my ideal place to practice drifting is on wide mountain passes. The downward slope makes drifting more forgiving and responsive. You can really practice anywhere with corners though, tracks, urban environments, you can even try linking swerves on a highway.
Drifting is a skill, and takes some time to learn, but that’s what makes it rewarding. Just keep trying and persevere, and you’ll get it. Also, make sure your drift car is rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential. And ideally with steering angle specifically made for drifting.
More videos coming soon!
L00PdeL00P can you please send a link to a nice mountain pass I have irohazaka and akina but akina is not the best for me lookin forward to the new videos!

question: can you even drift with a keyboard since im going to have a stroke trying to do this without a wheel and pedal
*cries in roblox drifting sim*
CozmicPlayz Minecraft
Don’t fret! At least it’s not hot wheels drifting lmao.
*_ya like jazz?_*
If this is the same AE86 mod I’m thinking of, it really needs a race 6 speed
JDMLover
The 4a doesn’t really need it in my opinion, 8,000 RPM is plenty and the max power zone is pretty balanced. Sometimes I throw an LSD and TRD Silvertop transmission on there, the top speed is lower but it’s better for Touge and rally where that isn’t an issue. The LSD is for drifting of course Lol
L00PdeL00P I tried making a high power track car and the gears aren’t long enough. I can’t even tell how much power it has😂
I'm learning to drift with mouse steering and keyboard, doesn't go well due to the lack of ffb
Ffb?

@@L00PdeL00P thank you! I’m about to get a wheel so I watched this video, and I want to be able to drift down some mountains, good tutorial btw!
Nice transfer at 4:28! If you’re still alive: What’s your setup? BeamNG is really fun but I can’t seem to get the wheel settings just right
Thanks man! Yes, I’m still alive. I’m thinking about getting back to making videos as a matter of fact! My setup is a Thrustmaster t150, with the clutch mapped to the circle button, and force-feedback-wise, I have the strength all the way up and dampening just enough so that the wheel doesn’t jitter back and fourth if I leave it be. If you’re going from controller to wheel, expect that it’ll be difficult. It was for me, but I got the hang of it eventually! Just keep persevering.
@@L00PdeL00Poh thanks, I’m used to driving on wheel on Assetto Corsa so I’m not totally newbie. You should make more content! You’ve got some nice quality vids and I’d love to see more of them

Noah Tagarao
Yes, I am using a Thrustmaster t150 for this video. Thanks for watching my video :)
no matter how hard i try, i always spin out of control
Benjamin Boo
Do you use keyboard? If so, maybe use mouse for steering instead first of all. Also, make sure that you are gentle with power as you ease out of initiation. Too much too quick will over-rotate you. Also, make sure that you countersteer quicker whichever controller scheme you use. Hope this helps :)
@@L00PdeL00P thanks, ill give mouse steering a try

Precisely what I was going for! Lol
Hey LOOP is it easy drifting on a controller because I'm using one right now
It’s easy to get drifting with a controller, but I personally found myself being smoother with either a wheel or mouse. But controller is very good for getting a lot of angle fast, so for connecting styles that don’t rely on grip as much.
Oh,using a keyboard is more difficult than this. What you use to control this AE86?
What’s the map? It look AMAZING to practice drifting on
What song is this? Sounds a lot like casiopea but I'm not sure

It’s Easter Island by Russ Freeman! It’s funny you mention that, actually, I have Mint Jams and Nocturnal Playground on vinyl Lol. You should check out Russ Freeman’s other stuff with the Rippingtons too if you’re into the whole contemporary jazz thing.
Clutch kick entry is me

map mod link? also nice vid
I always use clutch kick for the rb26 swapped sil80 mod the rb26 are prone to stall when i use hand break lol
Felixboi311
Yea, depending on your gearing the RB has a higher idling speed, and dipping below that will stall it. You can mitigate this by holding the clutch in while the handbrake is applied for a long time. It’s hard for me to do tho since the clutch binding on my wheel is on a faceplate button and it’s hard to catch when the wheel is spinning Lol.
When do I dump the clutch?
My b day tpday just got G920 any vid how to set up on BeamNG drive?
ugglyBoogly1234
While I personally use a Thrustmaster T150, I’m sure the ideal setup remains similar. I have my ffb turned all the way up, and the smoothness on just enough so that the wheel doesn’t jitter.
did you do any kind of vehicle config?
NotSquiddie
There was some tuning in this video, though if you want a simple and easy to drift config I recommend the initial d config of the ae86. I’m using a lower power engine with ultra light flywheel, but you can drift with anything really. I recommend any RWD car with a limited slip differential for practice.
i have a problem with oversteering that i dont know how to fix.. like i can do the drifts perfectly but when it comes to stopping them and getting the car straight again, i always end up swerving into the ditch because of oversteering. can anyone help?
The solution for that is to be more gentle on the exit. When pulling out of the corner, it’s tempting to try and blast the throttle out, but since you’re already slipping, your acceleration will be no greater than if you just softly rolled on the throttle, not to mention you become super unstable. Also, you may be steering to hard, the car is heavy and takes some time to react to little inputs. Be patient and keep trying! You’ll get it!
L00PdeL00P thanks man I’ll make sure to try this tomorrow when I wake up!
where did you get that steering wheel?
I always spin out, what can I do?
Supreme Star
There are a couple of things, first, you may want to countersteer earlier, or maybe apply less throttle, and maybe be more gentle with your approach.
Hope this helps! :)

@@L00PdeL00P ty ty
do you have any advice for drifting on keyboard?
Well, if you have a keyboard, that usually means you have a mouse as well. I recommend binding the steering axis to the mouse in a way you feel is comfortable so you can finely adjust steering angle. Alternatively, you can still use keyboard if you really must, for that I recommend setting the response speed to be much higher and then you can rapidly press left or right to average out more or less angle. Hope this helps!
@@L00PdeL00P yeah I use slight hand brake to start the drift and I’m mostly fine that way but my main problem is oversteer anyway how much would you say a wheel is worth it because I can get one
I used the braking entry on asetto corsa when I didn’t have a handbrake

Hey is this also applicable for other game like say forza 4?
Maybe, but forza is more of an arcade-style racing game, so mechanics may greatly differ from BeamNG and reality.
When do I kick the clutch? Pls reply
lancedanoob
Depending on the corner, slow down, turn in, then as you turn the wheel, clutch goes in, throttle at full, and then dump the clutch. If you have any other questions I’d be happy to answer them :)
L00PdeL00P Ohhh so I need to hold the clutch and throttle and then when sliding I release the clutch?
L00PdeL00P Also do I need to countersteer?
Basically, when the revs from the clutch kick calm down from redlining, that’s the time to countersteer to break traction
