Super informative video as usual from you, Mr Turtle! As a beginner, getting a grip on throttle control is tricky. I blew my motor a week after the event and now a couple years later (with a new motor) I am about to go back to the track in March. Thanks for taking the time to say so, I appreciate it! I never played driving games with a wheel and pedal kit until after I could already link tracks in my real car, so I’m almost coming at the sim driving aspect backwards compared to many lol But I do like to talk about driving techniques and the similarities and differences of IRL & sim drifting 🤙🏻
Most people do if they try on the street or where there’s stuff to hit😓 Takes a while to figure out the dynamics of balancing a car in drift, especially if you don’t have any previous motorsports experience. Hope you can get back on the road soon

Just wait till you see the next video I tease at the end of this one…it’s gonna be 👌🏻 (though I’m just starting on it so it will be a couple weeks till it’s ready)
My biggest problem is going from controller to sim rig 😂 I fully understand how it all works… I just cannot make my body do what my hands can do quite yet lol
Halfway through the video and I realise that my drifting in AC with the S15 WDTS has a problem. I always drift very close (sometimes on....) the rev limiter. This makes it so that I have very little throttle to play with! So I will have to go and look at my gearing and tyre pressure to see if I can gain some more revs to play with. Or perhaps go with a different car. Super informative as usual Ben, may the algorithm bless you!
Good call, at 100% turbo in the 180, the OSGiken gearing is nice for tracks where the stock gearing gets “busy” going up and down frequently. That said, IRL one does not simply swap gears trackside (other than Pro teams) so it’s a good skill to work on learning where and how to upshift to avoid being gear limited. Sometimes you upshift into not enough power and have to make it work, too 🤷🏻♂️

this is pretty good for faster RWD lap times, as this is one of the techniques to get the "4 wheel drift" or slip angle. coming into a corner too fast will understeer your car, too slow, and bad lap times. but if you make the rear suddenly light enough to start slipping, then the hardest things is the steering and throttle. steering or putting too much throttle will spin the car, too little steering or acceleration will understeer(it will make the car controllable though) the hardest part is getting on the peak of your tyres grip. too much slipping of the rear and you will go off-course at the apex or outside the entry. too little slip then thats understeer, you also go off course. it may seem to some "arent you loosing grip because you are drifting?" yes, but the goal of this technique is speed, the faster you go the harder it is to grip. advice is you want to drift the car but you dont want to countersteer (for most of the time)
One day, I'll be doing this haha, loved this video, your driving looks fantastic man. Mazda rx-7 3rd gen is the dream, one day I'll be able to use this video again man, thanks for the education.

I power away in the exit of a fwd in games and it feels so satisfying if the car is underpowered and you time your downshift right. Enter the corner a bit fast and tuck it in carefully and then ballance toward the edge of the track. Downshift and throttle full and if you entered the turn fast enough and didnt understeer you can swing the rear around in certain cars extremely well. The issue is if it locks the wheels up without handbrake and your suddenly trying to stop it can spin out if your using the body weight and rotating the car like that. Also burning the inside tire isnt recommended but in games it takes less energy to maintain full power than it does to get up to full power. On hillclimbs a fwd will love to go wide as you throttle up so you need to be more straight on the hill facing up the hill than you would downhill even if its by a few tiny degrees. It makes a difference. If I had a steering wheel set up I could further study the idea.😅 it requires every bit of skill you got to maintain speeds like that. Awd is also fun. I happen to suck at rwd racing due to the nature of how awd and fwd behave. The rear end snaps out way too easy for me
Ayeee thank you dude! 🙌🏻 I spent extra on a full stainless steel exhaust and twin resonators, it’s pretty stealth until you get on it and even then it’s got manners. Gentleman drifter lol 🎩
I’ve got the basics down pretty well enough to drift while driving on a track, however I haven’t been able to link all my turns because I suddenly regain traction no matter what I do, what would you recommend?
2:05 I hold half brakes and keep my foot ready on the clutch and half throttle or keep revving to get the rear end around the narrow and sharp corner, the only problem is that i counter steer too much thinking im going to spin out

No hydro brake on mine either! If you shift weight properly you can get by without a hydro…though they’re really beneficial for recovering from unpredictable situations where you don’t have time to set up the car, like if the lead car messes up in front of you at close proximity
your videos have made drifting so much fun for me and I found out alot of things to use that help alot when I drift either on acc or car x but this one guy named ty skiddz said I was ass at drifting just becuase I was running a car that had "lower rear tire pressures then him" so he couldnt keep up with me aswell as he had such stiff suspenssion it was like his car was made in the flinstonse age compaired to mine witch would obsorbe almost all the bumps and could do jump drifts smothly while his car literally would spin out of control every time after he touches the bariars even a tiny bit with my car the tires would glide over the bariars like they werent there so what do you think feel free to look at my only tuning video to see how I tune my cars in most my games and let me know if there is anything I could fix if you want its all up to you of corse cuase your content is amazing and i love learning more about drifting every time I watch your videos
I always just think of drift throttle modulation techniques as inverse versions of grip throttle modulation. Because it is exactly what it is most of the time when your wheels are already spinning.
I can only add that you should not feel discouraged if it doesn't work right away. Take breaks, come back to it and practice. It takes a bit of time but it is well worth it 👍🏻
Whenever I see those clips it looks like the steering angle at the front wheels is extreeeeme. Is this somehow changed in comparison to factory defaults, do you guys take actions to achieve those crazy steering angles?
We do! While you can drift any RWD car, and have countersteer angle on corner entry in *any* drivetrain, cars tuned specifically for drift like ours have modified steering knuckles and suspension arms to give the wheels and tires way more travel without rubbing against the suspension so we can drift confidently at more angle than a normal car can 👍🏻
Your videos are super pro and cool man 👍 you should work for a car brand and do the voice overs for their mechanical videos 😎 btw i checked out the channel but couldn't find a video about your assetto corsa drift settings, and why. I watched the one for the steering wheel, but none for in-game settings, I love to read suspension, car and drift articles and try to play with it and tweek it afterwards in the simulator. Would love to see a video like this by you 🙏
Thank you 👋🏻 To your question, you may be disappointed, but 99% of the time I drift the Assetto mod cars in my vids with their stock settings and only “tune” by adapting my inputs to suit the car and corner. IRL of course I’ve tuned my 240SX a fair bit, but once it’s sorted I do the same thing and rarely touch the settings track to track. I *would* be more picky if I was trying to compete and needed to keep up with guys who were running custom tuning for each track…back on topic, most mod packs are designed to simulate a car that’s already modded. So their default setup is usually adequate for performance driving. A video on how to tune is well within my skill set, so I might make one in the future, but every borrowed car I take for a few laps in the IRL vids, and every AC drift video the car is literally on its default tune, and I adjust the only thing you can in the middle of a run: my driving 👌🏻
@@KameTrick Thanks for the great answer, one important thing is exactly experience and be able of adapting your driving style to the track, car, conditions. Me coming from motorcycle racing and a bike mechanic myself got first into sim with Gran Turismo sport. I just love to adjust and test drive. Now I'm on PC and started to get into sim drifting I got so much questions, I read a bit about the negative camber and toe in front, the differential, and many other aspects of how a car for drifting should be set-up. But still got so much questions, like about gearing. I see guys maxing out the ratio and do everything in first gear for example. What type of tyres is used in drifting compared to road race? Btw I'm using the standard drift cars in assetto, the ones from kunos, like the supra and the bmw's, with them you can tweek and adjust like crazy. Still it's stays a game to find the best setup for your personal driving style, and of course gaining experience. But a video on all these settings in assetto compared to real, why and their effects should be insanely cool. Keep on doing what you are doing sir! You are bringing a nice level to motorsport 👍

very good video ! thanks for all those explaination !
this is pretty good for faster RWD lap times, as this is one of the techniques to get the "4 wheel drift" or slip angle.
coming into a corner too fast will understeer your car, too slow, and bad lap times.
but if you make the rear suddenly light enough to start slipping, then the hardest things is the steering and throttle.
steering or putting too much throttle will spin the car, too little steering or acceleration will understeer(it will make the car controllable though)
the hardest part is getting on the peak of your tyres grip. too much slipping of the rear and you will go off-course at the apex or outside the entry. too little slip then thats understeer, you also go off course.
it may seem to some "arent you loosing grip because you are drifting?" yes, but the goal of this technique is speed, the faster you go the harder it is to grip.
advice is you want to drift the car but you dont want to countersteer (for most of the time)

No hydro brake on mine either! If you shift weight properly you can get by without a hydro…though they’re really beneficial for recovering from unpredictable situations where you don’t have time to set up the car, like if the lead car messes up in front of you at close proximity
Just got the licence yesterday 😂
your videos have made drifting so much fun for me and I found out alot of things to use that help alot when I drift either on acc or car x but this one guy named ty skiddz said I was ass at drifting just becuase I was running a car that had "lower rear tire pressures then him" so he couldnt keep up with me aswell as he had such stiff suspenssion it was like his car was made in the flinstonse age compaired to mine witch would obsorbe almost all the bumps and could do jump drifts smothly while his car literally would spin out of control every time after he touches the bariars even a tiny bit with my car the tires would glide over the bariars like they werent there so what do you think feel free to look at my only tuning video to see how I tune my cars in most my games and let me know if there is anything I could fix if you want its all up to you of corse cuase your content is amazing and i love learning more about drifting every time I watch your videos
cant wait to watch this
It’s the second video in a new style that I think will be really fun and high value for the people who are really into driving tech stuff :)
Kame’s narration is better than most actual narrators 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I always just think of drift throttle modulation techniques as inverse versions of grip throttle modulation. Because it is exactly what it is most of the time when your wheels are already spinning.
was this at full lock drift in oklahoma by chance?
Will try
Thanks for the info
Happy New Year brother
Thanks, you too!!
I can only add that you should not feel discouraged if it doesn't work right away. Take breaks, come back to it and practice. It takes a bit of time but it is well worth it 👍🏻
just came to say your 240 looks great
Thank you! I try to keep it looking “pretty good for an active duty drift car”
does reverse entry require more of the clutch and throttle control or full send it all the way?
Here’s how I think of them ua-cam.com/video/ezdvoN9oATQ/v-deo.htmlsi=iC-rfZHB_UWZHB-Z
Whenever I see those clips it looks like the steering angle at the front wheels is extreeeeme. Is this somehow changed in comparison to factory defaults, do you guys take actions to achieve those crazy steering angles?
We do! While you can drift any RWD car, and have countersteer angle on corner entry in *any* drivetrain, cars tuned specifically for drift like ours have modified steering knuckles and suspension arms to give the wheels and tires way more travel without rubbing against the suspension so we can drift confidently at more angle than a normal car can 👍🏻
waiting your Inspiring content as always Kame! good luck man! and thank you.
Beautiful content.
I put tons of effort into this vid, thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻
I already feel ready to drift now@@KameTrick
0:44 classic example of someone who has money but no skill, doing a risky move with another people in the passenger seat.
Wonderful demo dude seen a lot but not as explained as this.
You are bringing a nice level to motorsport 👍
whats the left most peddal?
This is dope
Im 16, finna get my car soon, wish me luck😅
I like the tofu reference 😅
Could you try Arch's builds in Asseto? It's considered best representation of real life physics. Would be interested in your opinion. Might start with Lenny's 180SX
I’m game to drive them, but IDK if I’ll make a video on them soon. I have other videos I want to make for now
Ubeliavable. I found your channel right when I needed it the most. Advanced drifting techiques. Thanks
I aim to make the best drift instruction on the platform, or at least the best I can. This is the sort of feedback that helps me know I’m heading in the right direction. Check out the newsletter if you haven’t already!
I see this is in texas? Where at?
what are the possibles damages for ur car ? for a FWD and a RWD when trying to drift and while drifting ? i would really like your help anyone. I have a 2004 VW golf 5 1.9 tdi 90hp and it has 400k km
