Hi Miguel! Nice video. I own the same tape recorder and I have an issue, perhaps you could help. When I record a loop, and when I play it back, sometimes after a while it detunes by about a quarter tone. I've run a few tests: when I replay it right after recording, it’s almost at the correct speed. However, if I turn off the machine and come back to it later, it's out of tune by about a half tone. Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue? I already changed the drive wheel and belts but I still have the issue.. Thank you for your advice
@@migueldoliveiracomposer thank you, I asked the Uher service in germany, they have sapre parts and a lots of experience. Motor could be the issue effectively because belts are new...
Hello, I have one Monitor 4000L and recording from external line input is very low, is it that normal? what would it be the normal procedure to record external synths or N gear with that model? Thank you in advance. :-)
@@migueldoliveiracomposer very cool!! I am newbie with the Uher and my recordings are noisy and with low volume. Trying to understand and find solution for it
Haven't tried that on the UHER yet. Only ever done it successfully with compact cassettes - where I cover that part on the cassette with masking tape (or, even better, electrical tape). Tin foil can be hit and miss but worth a shot.
@@migueldoliveiracomposer Yes tin foil works on my cassettes devices too, but it seems more tricky to mask the erase head on the UHER. I have to try... Thanks a lot for your advices!

This is amazing Miguel. You've probably broken my bank account to get one of these.

That’s really strange. My first port of cold would be the drive belt as well - might be the motor then. I imagine it detunes down (not up)

The Disintegration Loops has inspired this one i guess ;D nice works.
I've just discovered William Basinski Disintegration loops. Thank you for the tip. Love it.
great! how do you figure out the length of the loop?
Thank you. I cut a random length of tape.
Because you're messing w tape speed as well, tape length is only vaguely linked to music phrase length.

Plz how can you "block" the erase head?

One question..when you loop the sound hace you already récord sonething in the tape? Thanks
yes, I had used that tape before a couple of times already.
I think used tape also gives it more character
Hi! How do you get the audio from Uber into DAW?
5 pin DIN connector (looks like a MIDI jack) plugged into the UHER and stereo JACK on the other end of the cable into DAW (pre amps).
