Laying down a beat and Phase Plant bassline, cranking up the 18" sub, and letting my friend tweak the Launchcontrol while I bound it to random parameters is the most fun production session I've ever had. You can absolutely lock into a groove

This is great approach! Might be fun to see a longer video of a song production utilizing this technique. Thanks!

Absolutely love this technique. I tend to make an automation pass on everything in a track after laying all the notes in, but this will let me play with automation more easily while I'm still exploring sounds and grooves. I hadn't really figured out what "touch" mode was supposed to do, but you've opened my eyes to some fun new possibilites. Thank you!

It's nice to see shortcuts and buttons that I never knew what they were for until I see you use them

When I saw 'Galaxy Brain', I thought 'oh no - not for me then!'
But I will absolutely use this approach. As someone considering moving away from hardware this is seriously tempting me! Thanks for sharing.

Oh absolutely nice idea! Never thought about temporarily activating automation write. Will definitely implement that in my workflow! Thanks!
Weirdly the "Toggle Arranger Automation Write" is in the category "Project" instead of "Arranger" (SHIFT+F1),
but luckily the "Toggle Clip Launcher Automation Write" is under "Clip Launcher (SHIFT+F2).
Shortcuts need to be set by yourself.

Cool trick, I like the quick selection of Automation Record idea 👍

Well done man, nice workflow for production
It can also be used in mixing
By the way, many sound engineers use Studio One protocols, even Cubase
But none of them use Bitwig
This is of course because all the famous engineers are old men
    And Bitwig is relatively new
But I think Bitwig can make the mix 10 times faster
With its splitters and modulation on the level of tracks and sidechains etc
You can give us new ways to make the mix faster
Because you always have a new perspective in Bitwig

This is applied theory! More of these, loved it! To add to this sometimes I find I lose the "original patch" if I tweak the device directly. So if I want to experiment with the device I duplicate the device, put it in an FX selector, select by note, then edit that. I keep the track count down and make sure the two sounds are very close so they mix well. Then I switch FX by per midi clip. It's tricky but works.

Being distracted this morning, I replayed the automation button (which I have always looked-at but never used) on the toolbar part five times.
I was wondering how or when you pressed the "arrows" or an "arrow" to automate something. Wow. It appears that you are automating simply by using a [whatever] button (automation) to do what I've always wanted to do, but the "arrows" seemed to set-in-motion a pre-conceived notion that I knew beforehand what I wanted to do, so later, when I recorded whatever, that some kind of random automation might happen on-time. Polarity, I really appreciate you taking your good-time to put something like this video out for us. I had cancelled my Bitwig subscription because of finances, and have moved into three AI pay-monthly tools. Suno gets me "Quickly Quickly" ~I loved your humor, and totally relate! I only watched up to fivefortyone as my fast life beckons.

Totally using this! Is it easy to set up a shortcut button that's hardwired into bitwig. I should know this but I've never tried it... Cheers, mate!

This is such a great workflow idea and really like that it makes the sound more organic. Trying this today and ran into a small issue or misunderstanding. If I record automation using my midi controller, BW turns the Restore Automation Control (turns green near the transport position) and will not let me listen to the automation until I click it. Can this behavior be changed?

Does the automation stick with the clip when the clip is dragged into the scene launcher?

      @gigistampo Місяць тому +1

Yes, when 'automation follows clip editing' is on.

@@gigistampo Thanks! @Polarity ; would be great if this is trick is working in the "+" or "x" automation type lane. Perhaps you can find a way? Would make it even more bad ass :))
