Just got my decant of this today and first off I'll just say I'm a sucker for FIG frags and the OG Gris Charnel is my favorite one, hands down! Now with that said, as Steven said I get a much more smokier, definitely more woodier cuz of the Cedar note (which Steven didn't mention) and just spicier with a little added sweetness than the OG Gris Charnel. That Fig is not as strong with that Black Tea note in the Extrait but the Fig is definitely still there but just not as strong IMO. I didn't smell much of that Black Tea note at all but that's where that Iris that you definitely do smell took the place of it IMO. All in all if you like the OG then I still think you're going to love this one. Maybe not as much but also maybe even more cuz I do think this one will appeal to a wider range of people since it is a Unisex frag sometimes a strong Fig can lean more feminine but with this one I could see more men wearing this one a little more so this time around, but of course it's all subjective though! For me personally I will be buying a full bottle of this just cuz I absolutely love this frag and it's scent DNA/Profile if you will even in the Extrait version since it truly is two different types of scents so to speak. BDK did another amazing job on this one cuz its really does have it's own vibe to it compared to the OG so it's really two different fragrance scents and plus this one being an extrait has 30% more concentration to it so the longevity, projection & sillage are all amped up just a little more and that's always a plus in my book especially with this masterpiece of a fragrance (just my subjective opinion of course 🤷♂️), I mean it is BDK's best selling fragrance for a reason and I have a feeling this one might just be as popular over time but you have to judge that for yourself. I would still get a decant before you buy a full bottle since it is a totally different scent but in the end for all you lovers of the OG like me I think you'll be buying a full bottle not to long after you get your decant of it! There's my 2 SCENTS on another amazing BDK fragrance that again, happens to be their most popular frag to date on the OG of course!! 💯🔥💪🏼✌🏼
@@perfumetales I would definitely sample first but like I said if you like the OG there's a chance you could like this one even more. It really is good!
Yes. I own a sample of each one and they are quite different to me. The extrait gets sweeter with time (2-3 hours) but at the beginning is quite dry (you have to like vetiver and cedar) and also smoky and dark from the black tea (not like something is burning though). I think it's more "masculine", specifically the first hours where the vainilla doesn't start to show up, due to the notes described before. Projection and longevity are beasts here. I tried the OG on one wrist and the extrait on the other and this last one totally overpowered the OG. Anyways, as woman I would totally wear it.
When I heard they added vanilla, and sandalwood - I knew it might be a love of mine. I'm still waiting on a sample of this. Adore the original - just bought another bottle.
Received this yesterday.....LOVE it! Did not care enough for the original to purchase but this one rang all the bells. Beautiful fragrance for always. :)
Great review Steven! I have the Extrait and I absolutely love it, so so good. I haven't tried the original yet and I plan to try that soon. So so good!
And like I said earlier, I think this is going to appeal to an even wider range of people and I'm speaking about the men in general. Once you get your nose on it I think you'll see exactly what I mean by that but if you like the OG or haven't even tried the OG just believe me when I say I think you very well could love this one even more so anyways if that's even a possibility which I think it is with this particular fragrance only because the OG is a MASTERPIECE IMO! Good luck with it brother!
Hey Steven, Thank you for sharing your review. I am waiting on my sample of this. I have the original and I love it..... My only concern is does the Extrait lean more masculine? Please give me a little bit of feedback. Again Thank you for sharing your review
Hi! I blind bought this because of my love for the original. I wrote a review on my Instagram page. Great fragrance but for me, definitely leans masculine. So two of them are like a nice hers&his :)
I agree with the previous comment. Due to the prominent vetiver, smoky tea and vetiver (also spices). It gets sweeter but in the drydown. The extrait changes a lot whereas the OG for me is more linear.
Gris Charnel Extrait is by far my favorite fragrance. I wear this every day even to bed. I’m trying to figure out what is the scent that’s attracting me to this.. it’s so mesmerizing and intoxicating.. maybe it’s the creaminess and spicyness.. I feel the same way about Tom Ford Velvet Orchid.. I can’t quite put my finger on the scent I’m so drawn to in these two fragrances .. any suggestions of other fragrances I’d like since I love this one..
Overall I enjoy the video I do on the original and plan on getting a sample of this flanker. As always appreciate the great information. I would like some suggestions on a year around signature scent that works in all seasons and has extremely good perception. Thank you
@@Redolessence thank you! I adore the original and can't wait to try the extrait. More niche women's frag reviews please. Would love more Initio and described from men's and women's perspective🙏 Love how well your channel is doing! You deserve all the success!

Hi Steven! I’ve heard a lot about the extrait! Super excited to hear your thoughts! Great note breakdown! Do you get a boozy note? Like a bourbon? Or a charred bourbon barrel?
I don't detect any boozy notes. Opens dry, woody, smokey and with time gets sweeter. But the dry woods and vetiver are predominant in the first 40 minutes or so. Spicy, hardly detectable fig.
Hi Steven. It just so happens that yesterday I received a free sample of Gris Charnel with the purchased of another fragrance. I had not heard of this brand. I really like Gris Charnel. Would you say that it could be worn in the Summer and what is the longevity for you on the original? Thanks for this review.
Longevity on the OG is around 7-8 hours, the extrait is a beast: 10-12 hours. The OG for me can be used at whatever season but no the same for the extrait as it's quite dense and wouldn't wear it on hot summer days.
I don't know about him but some people will have nothing for retirement because of their fragrance addictions. Other people sell decants so they can afford the fragrances. Other people try to only buy used bottles or from discounters.
Literally CANNOT get this off of me. And i love it. It had immense lasting power and its like a more masculine version of the OG. I love it.
Just purchased. I am looking forward to receiving my bottle

My sentiments exactly. The first was just alright, but I found the Extrait version bottle-worthy.
If I don’t have the original which one should I get?
Excited to sample it. On another note... I do not trust that shelf holding the Roja
😂

Really excited for this to hit discounters, it's so good but way out of my price range.
Gris Charnel is my favorite BDK perfume, so I'll definitely check this one out. Thanks for reviewing this, I hadn't even known it was out!
Thanks Steven! I love the original and just order the Extrait!
This is a very great parfum with a very unique smell. I love it
Steven i think your shelves behind you are getting too heavy😅
Yeah I agree (hint hint), so feel free to do some giveaways cuz I think both of us would be all in! Lol
This contunues to be a fragrance that gets my consideration. So glad it comes in this version.

Would you say this a safe for an man to wear ?
Not too feminine?
