I've heard that fresh flowers will rot over time even in Resin and that's why you have to dry them out. I like using silica gel to dry them because they retain their color and shape.
I’m new to this and was tasked with preserving some flowers from a funeral, which is a lot of pressure and I’m trying to get it right. What brand of epoxy resin do you use with flowers that you dry in silica? And do you just mix 1/2 / 1/2 of each?
So I've never worked with resin, but I study chemistry and other sciences, and my best guess for preserving fresh flowers in resin has to do both with the flower and the amount of resin. Resin gives off heat as it sets and cures, and the more resin that is around a fresh flower, the more heat is released to 'cook' it, which distorts the colour. The lack of water in dried flowers prevents this heat from distorting the colors. This also means that the type of flower, it's natural moisture percentage when fresh, and the 'tenderness/delicateness' of the flower will affect the result after the resin is set. So trying to preserve really sensitive flowers like a rose when fresh would be expected to be really difficult.
What happened with my flowers after a long period of time, was that they started to develop a light yellow-ish tone to some edges, but it wasn't that noticeable, to present day it's a bit noticeable, but it still looks stunning. It really depends what colour flower you put in, because if it does get that yellow tint, it can look alright with some colours, so you don't need to worry about that.
As the resin heats it cooks the fresh flowers. You can use a resin with a lower curing temp as well as do it in stages because the more resin you use the higher the curing temp gets.
What if you were to dip the rose in a pot of resin giving it a thin coat, then when dry put it in the mold and cover with resin. Maybe this will pre preserve the color and protect it more from heat?
@@Aangel452 to do it that way the resin is better applied in a base layer to stabalize the flower and then gently brushed on the flower by hand to preserve the shape
From my understanding with fresh flowers you need to have their stems in glycerin so they can drink it. Once they have it should preserve the color of the flowers so you can put them in resin.
@a janee I saw his video but he used fake flowers. Resin heats up when curing so fresh flowers dry because of the heat and lose all of their colors. The heat don’t affect the colors of plastic so fake flowers are the same before and after curing. The best technique to cast “natural looking” flowers in resin is to use fabric flowers because the dyes used to dye the fabric don’t lose their colors due to the heat. (Sorry for any English mistakes ;) )
You want to use a super slow curing resin, because they produce the least amount of heat during the cure. You should be able to use heartier blossoms with a slow cure resin with minimal discoloration. You could also dry the blooms in silica sand (crystal cat litter that’s been made super fine). The microwave dryer cooks your flowers too which is why they lose color, not because of moisture content. Cilicia sand will draw the moisture out in a short period of time, while preserving the color and structure of the bloom.
Have you tried preserving them in silica first? Like the forever flowers. They look fresh for years, but since it removes moisture they may retain their color and integrity better then fresh :)
Just please don't breathe in the silica dust! Silica dust can create a very serious autoimmune response in the lungs. Always wear a mask when using and be careful of makeup products, especially powderd that contain it.
I've never found silica to be helpful. It divots the petals like a golf ball and turns them dark ugly brown. I've followed all the directions and still my most beautiful flowers, roses included, were ruined. 😭
Very little liquid in the flower heads of Queen Anne’s lace/Yarrow/wild carrot. They have fairly woody stems and chunky tuberous roots that hold a good deal of water.
If you add a little bit of blue / purple to your resin mix it might help with the colour and also with the aging of the resin . I learned that doing nails as acrylic and gel both have a blue or purple tone to it as it becomes yellow when it cures (or ages for acrylics ) Hope that's helpful 😊 also great video and positioning of the flowers !!
you got me started with experimenting with flowers , I got different results, red roses turned yellow towards the middle, the edges stayed red, the leaves stayed green., a few turned brown. Marigolds the orange stayed orange, the center stayed yellow but part of it brown. the wax begonia turned greenish yellow, coleus I got mixed results, some kept their color. I tried drying coleus in silica, it stripped the color, small flowers , also little flowers..same thing I also had some that turned brown and oozed sticky junk out from the side. You should start a facebook group where we could upload photos of our experiments. I put many on instagram. The fresh flowers may continue to change colors so please follow up in a week or two
Should totally do a quick video of that the fresh looks like now several months later. I'm interested in the color longevity, they look nice as is but I'd love to see how they hold up
Could you give us an update like maybe after a month on the fresh flower? I am just curious to know will they stay the same colour or will they change. Yah. If you could. Love your videos.
@@ArtsyMadwoman I wonder if you could spray them with something before you put them in resin, I think they use to do that w roses, the long stemmed ones🤔😁 love your work, just subbed💖
If there's still a significant amount of moisture in something organic, it's likely going to slowly decompose.. even encased in resin. So it's likely going to be more brown and icky looking as time goes on.
They look beautiful!! I learned that over time they tend to yellow and look gross. I prefer dried flowers even though the initial result is prettier with fresh. They just don't hold up over time
Love, I have noticed that You Don’t use a mask or glowes when You work with resin. You are slowly poisoning yourself and it can lead to serious illness. Please protect yourself and only work in a well ventilated room.
I came here to ask the same thing! Please, please wear a mask and gloves. You might not be able to smell it, but that doesn't mean the fumes aren't there. Please protect your precious self so we can keep enjoying your talent!
@@LucienDeSilver I thought the same thing for her safety too and ours as we learn to use. I have health issues working don't want more! Thks conformation.
True. I thought I was having an allergic reaction but finally figured out after this last time it was giving me a chemical burn on my face and eyes. I puffed up like a blowfish and my face peeled like I had a sunburn. I couldn't smell it either so I thought it was harmless. I have since learned my lesson the painful way.
Kathy Taylor yikes! That seems a pretty aggressive reaction 😳 When I worked with resin, I had my table next to the open balcony door and left the door open until the resin was cured. And I wore gloves, but that was manly because I have psoriasis and therefore know how sensitive my skin is. I’ll look up more info on how to stay safe. Thanks for the warning!
Have you ever tried to spray clear coat on the fresh flowers before the resin. I saw someone do that and they didn't turn brown from what I remember. Hope you give it a try. Thank-you for sharing. Have a very lovely day!!!
@@jessiecarey7311 I believe it is called "Clear coat" by Krylon, it is just a lacquer spray (I think). I use it to seal my art work. Hope this helps. Mine’s a bit bittersweet… lost my wife this year and I want to do it with her favourite coloured rose as a gift to my mother in law. Glad some people have been doing comparisons like this before I go making horrific choices when everyone’s already sad
In the curing process resin heats up from the chemical reaction, this chemical reaction could be hot enough it heats the flowers and partially cooks them, turning them yellow and brown in the resin. I feel like a low thermal resin might have a better chance at preserving fresh flowers. My 2 cents anyway. :)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the fresh Queen Anne's Lace!! Much better version than the dried. The dried rose was prettier and the other flower was gorgeous! I LOVE the mold with the faceted edges! Love ALL your videos! Keep on recording!
I definitely loved the fresh Queen Anne's Lace more! Not only were the colors more vibrant, but just the way it fit into the mold for more of a 3-D depth came out really awesome. It would be nice to make some with Baby's Breath, too, and maybe two other similar types (or leaves, ferns, etc...) to make a set of 4. Gorgeous, Dahhhling!
I want to know if you can do a rose in a snow globe shape, I would love to be able to keep some of the roses I get that way, and don't like it as much when they are pressed flat.
You can buy really fine silica and put it in a little storage container to dry out the rose in its original state. I never had any come out poorly using this method
I just ordered a bunch of supplies to make some resin pieces. Since I am on lockdown, as are many of us, I thought I would start a new hobby. I stumbled upon your site when I was researching how to dry flowers. First of all...you are adorable! Second, you just made me so excited to start this new hobby. Having you as a resource, is comforting to me. I am one of the fortunate ones, I am getting paid while I am out of work, so I thought maybe making something to cheer people up would be nice, while keeping busy. Wish me luck!
I cant believe that wasn't common sense... if a fresh flower with moisture inside it is exposed to air, it will speed the decomposition process. if it's fully encased in resin it most likely could prevent it from aging, degrading, & browning. what a waste of a video.
@@largeautomobile have you tried that and it worked? I previously used fresh flowers, covered them in resin (as the back of my phone case) and they turned to brown and yellow. no part of them was sticking out. my phone case was completely ruined.
I don't have the money for doing these, BUT I love your channel! You have such a nice personality and you're always in such a good mood that it is a pleasure to watch you doing these. I really enjoy your videos 😊 🌸
Thank you for showing us the difference. They were interesting results. My favourite was the fresh lace flower I thought looked amazing, but also the diamond edge coaster looked beautiful. Absolutely love your channel ❤️ x
Can I tell you, I have learned so much from watching your videos. I am a newbie newbie. Just learning as I go. I love the dried flowers better than fresh. With the exception of the fresh queen Ann’s lace. The fresh really was “wow”. My son found a 4 leaf clover so hopefully I can preserve it. Your work is flipping amazing ❤️!!
Thank you! This is why they browned, the air has to be completely sealed off immediately! Or else the process of rot starts which is also when a flower looses moisture,
@@justinkaboutit7047 What if you paint the resin on first, then put it in a partially filled mold before adding the rest. All organic things will eventually rot, even in resin. I have some dried beans and corn stuff and even that went bad. They are old! I just want to see it done and see how long it lasts. Ok..... now the important investment. A pressure pot. That will push the air out. Look at Nick Zammeti and Peter Brown. They have used a pressure pot to get air out of resin projects. I think one of them even tried to do a resin/fresh flower resin project.
Just Ink About It its not rot, its discolouration bc resin heats up and it slightly cooked the fresh flower. Bc fresh flowers still have water/moist in them that is what gets cooked. Dry flowers dont have that anymore, why it stays the same colour all throughout

The fresh lisianthus turned out SO GOOD! I worked as a florist for a few years, and they're one of my favorite flowers! Another one you should check out, since you like the QAL so much, is called Blue Thistle (Eryngium planum)! It has such an amazing bluish greenish color that would give you that starburst/firework type look that you like. It would also look fantastic with QAL layered behind it. On another note, and this is to be taken with a pound of salt because I am pretty much a novice when it comes to working with resin, but to get your air bubbles out from the centers of the flowers, you may want to consider either putting a big drop of resin in the center of the flower before you place it in the mold or essentially dipping the entire flower in resin first before placing it in the mold. That may help cut down on your air air bubbles, along with using a creme brulee torch to pop any remaining bubbles (which you probably already knew about I'm sure). Lastly, where on Earth did you get the faceted mold??? It is SO LOVELY!
Oh my God the Queen Anne's Lace is killing me! Sooo.. if you got a minute I have a little story for you. I'm silly like that😘 Bizarre how I found your Channel. I have actually had an obsession with flowers for a very long time. I have had jewelry making supplies for years, I used to own a store and ya know, was going to make jewelry to! Yea, never had time! Ever! Fast forward to today, I still have all of the stuff. It was just something I could never get rid of trust me I've heard it from everyone why do you still have that? So NOW, I still have no time, however I buy flowers all the time! When they mark them down at my grocery that's right next to me, I think the girl that works there actually does it on purpose for flowers that she knows I would like LOL, We've become friends😉 .. I buy them all the time because I hate to see beautiful things get discounted or thrown away! Now, even if I have to stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning, I always take the flowers, after they have dried out, and put them in containers. I have so so many! And I mean like tie-dye flowers 2 beautiful roses just all kinds of stuff! Because I just keep thinking in my head I am going to do something with these with resin! I am! I am! I'm not getting rid of them! Never never! 😆 I take great care to make sure that every piece of a flower is just so! ... Okay that being said, I never have talked about this to anyone. I just kind of do it. Well I mean the girl at the grocery .. I said I would like to make things out of them once I think, but that's all. So Today while I was cleaning I just kept thinking about it and trying to figure in my mind what else I need to do it, where I need to get molds and different things. So I stopped cleaning to take a break.. I pick up my phone .. turn UA-cam on.. annnnd 💥 YOU'RE RIGHT THERE! 🤔 That beautiful blue hair, which I'm drawn to because mine is different colors every time I blink and I don't care that I'm 46 no one knows that. Oops. Anyways, and your fairy lights! 😍😇 I read the description and was like wait a minute WHAT?! I started wondering if I was thinking but talking out loud and just didn't know it and my phone heard me lol .. because nothing, and I mean NOTHING in 15 YEARS of watching UA-cam, has EVER come up like this. I have a thousand times over, told myself that I need to look it up, find out how it's done or if I can even do it, ya know that kind of thing, and never have. So I turn the video on and it's like your me 20 years ago with darker hair LOL and way way better make up! I always thought I was a fairy and I'm pretty sure I'm going to prove that to myself this year and I'm proud of it!😂 SO ... it's almost like you have been sent to me by the Goddess of Creativity for this New Year to give me the push I needed to get it started! I truly think it's something my soul needs right now. I absolutely adore you ,you are fabulous! I am going to go back and watch every video! I already subscribed and turned on all the notifications, so I'm set! You do a great job and are very detailed! That's awesome for people like me that need that instruction! You are fabulous and I cannot wait to go watch all your other videos! Happy New Year ! Loads of Love to ya! ❤ A Kindred Spirit You Didn't Know You Had. 😘 I'm also a bit on the silly side in case you didn't notice.🤦♀️ 😘

OMGosh! Thanks so much for sharing your experiment. I never knew you could handle a fresh rose so much and get such a lovely flattened piece. Definitely gonna try drying some of my roses flattened when they're in bloom again. Love the Queen Anne's lace too, dry and fresh! From my perspective - laptop screen - the fresh rose is still pretty, like a fresh rose that started out yellow. But, yes, the dry roses are prettier. I can hardly wait for the tiny blooming weeds in our side-back yard to come back this summer. They should work well like the Queen Anne's lace, dry or fresh. Many are purple & some are yellow. The yellow blooms ought to be interesting, to say the least. I'm wondering how to avoid the air bubbles once you insert the flowers, dry or fresh. The dry flower examples have tiny bubbles and the fresh flowers have really big bubbles. Have to tell you, I LOVE how you have strung the white lights in the background. If only I had some wall space to do that. Mine are covered with shelves.
In my humble opinion...and I've never done any of this...soooo, I think if you immersed the flower entirely, it might work. On those ones that turned yellow, the back of the flower was exposed. If it was cut off from all oxygen, therefore all decay? I think possibly that's why the queen anne's lace worked?
I think the issue is also that the rose, even if encased entirely, is inside that resin with not only moisture (inside the petals) and some air (mirco-bubbles), but with all the normal, natural microorganisms that live on and in the petals of the flower (just like we have organisms living in our eyelashes, etc). With tiny pockets of air, inherent moisture and organisms still present, I believe you get what forensic scientists call "closed container decomposition"
Resin also heats up as it cures, I think this is what's causing the rapid damage to the flowers. I've seen some people have success with fresh flowers if they use resins that have low curing heats. Granted, I dont know if they stayed looking fresh weeks after the project...
YES! That is the most beautiful coaster I have ever seen. That's what I was screaming at you when you reveled it. I need that coaster mold and the flower is perfect in it. Also, the dried Queen Anne's Lace is so beautiful. I must try this!
I truly appreciate you. My grandfather just passed away 🥺 & I took some flowers from his funeral. I wanted to have something that meant something and well keep his memory. I’m working my way to do exactly this. I’ve seen your other videos about adding a photos so I plan to add photos & dry flowers. It’s so beautiful. I just ordered my flower press & im rushing before the flowers die. But you have made it easier. I plan to give some as gifts for Christmas so thank you!! You have made my life a little bit easier.
How long do you wait to press the flower into the resin after pouring it into the mould? Do you always wait 5 hours till adding the second layer? Thanking you 🌸🌸
Girl, your spirit is lovely! I have recently failed at just drying flowers but have also wanted to experiment with resin. You have sparked a desire in me to mix the both and see what happens. Looking forward to more vids!!

The fresh vs the dried Neither process wasn't bad. This would be my first time using resin, but I decided to watch your video I was impressed that the fresh flower ( name was queen ??) turned out better than the dried. The other flowers were nice sizes and weren't bad; the only exception that was different was the color of the rose had changed color but still nice. As you mention that the fresh flowers color may change. I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO. 😉
hi, i love your artworks. recently i tried using resin for seaweed and it is my first time so here is some questions which i'm glad if you can answer them: 1. how to speed up the resin to cure? i thought can use microwave but unfortunately it started producing smokes and that creeps me out.lol 2. why when i'm using fresh seaweed or fresh aquatic plants there is some whitish formed around the plant? should i literally dried the water first. 3. can we use other than silicone mold? thanks a lot.

Brilliant. I made about 27 of them. After a few days I popped them out the moulds and they lookd amazing so I glued them to frames using more epoxy resin. I took photos and listed in my Etsy. No buyers :( I packaged them away in airtight storage along with other pieces I've made - Then about 3 weeks I got a buyer for one, I packaged and shipped and didn't hear back from the buyer. Then about 2 months later I got another buyer for one and I went to my storage for these and all the lil pink flowers that had been fine in resin for the first few weeks had all turned yellow/brown/white/green and the resin around them had yellowed despite they were fully cured when I took the photos and looked fine when I'd shipped the first one.. Yesterday. So close yet so far. Discovered this video yesterday (floral design is my thing) and I may or may not have binge watched most of your videos since then. 🤪 You've inspired me to start working with resin!
When I tried with fresh flowers the resin around the flowers turned milky colored, so yours turned out great compared to mine... maybe it's the different resin types... who knows 🤷🏼♀️😁
@@altr3777 yes, that's my thought too, but hers didn't do that at all. So maybe it has a bit to do with the resin too... mine takes a lot longer to dry up, about 3 days. Maybe the curing time of my resin gives the moisture more time to make the milky clouds 🤷🏼♀️😊

Has anyone just considered dipping flowers in resin, then just hanging them upside down to cure? Then it could just be as thin layer over the flower, and not overheat. Then after that you could put the already resin coated flower in another resin project.
Not gonna lie. I was a little worried about air bubbles when you were putting the dried flowers in, but I love the look with the bubbles!!!! I think it adds so much and just makes it look more homemade (my favorite) but I think they look beautiful!
I actually still prefer the fresh flowers because they look more 3d in the resin if that makes sense. The dried ones look flat. I just read a comment that said the heat of the resin might be the reason why the flower loses color. I recommend you preserve the flowers with glycerin first then you can put it in the resin. The glycerin allows you the best of both worlds.
I think I see a tiny bubble on the dried lisianthus one, and it's pretty! You mentioned in another video that bubbles like that look like dewdrops, and it does! That's what Bob Ross referred to as a "happy accident"! :)

Yeah a dehydrater makes more sense than a microwave.
Have you tried preserving them in silica first? Like the forever flowers. They look fresh for years, but since it removes moisture they may retain their color and integrity better then fresh :)
Silica is my favorite method so far. Especially for flowers with a lot of depth like roses
You also dont have to press the flowers with silica.
There is also a powder you can buy that makes potpourri dry, i think its called orris root, not sure of spelling.
If you still have the dried v/s the fresh ones, it would be interesting to see what each looks like now.
Up✊
The fresh Queen Anne's Lace turned out very nice.
I agree! Of the 6 pieces, the fresh Queen Ann's Lace was my favorite!
agreed!
Very little liquid in the flower heads of Queen Anne’s lace/Yarrow/wild carrot. They have fairly woody stems and chunky tuberous roots that hold a good deal of water.
Agree
The fresh, Queen Anne’s lace is my favorite.
If you add a little bit of blue / purple to your resin mix it might help with the colour and also with the aging of the resin . I learned that doing nails as acrylic and gel both have a blue or purple tone to it as it becomes yellow when it cures (or ages for acrylics )
Hope that's helpful 😊 also great video and positioning of the flowers !!
you got me started with experimenting with flowers , I got different results, red roses turned yellow towards the middle, the edges stayed red, the leaves stayed green., a few turned brown.
Yes definitely! The Rose has already turned much more brown since I finished this video 😬
@@ArtsyMadwoman I wonder if you could spray them with something before you put them in resin, I think they use to do that w roses, the long stemmed ones🤔😁 love your work, just subbed💖
How about a time lapse? A picture a month for 6 months?
@@ArtsyMadwoman can you put a glossy top coat on fresh flowers?
If there's still a significant amount of moisture in something organic, it's likely going to slowly decompose.. even encased in resin.
So it's likely going to be more brown and icky looking as time goes on.
I really liked the fresh Queen Anne"s Lace
me too!
Janna Strandli thanks for that.
Kathy Taylor yikes! That seems a pretty aggressive reaction 😳
When I worked with resin, I had my table next to the open balcony door and left the door open until the resin was cured.
Do you know what type of spray?
@@jessiecarey7311 I believe it is called "Clear coat" by Krylon, it is just a lacquer spray (I think). I use it to seal my art work. Hope this helps. Sorry it took so long to answer I couldn't get the message system to work so I had to go into my history to find the video and answer you that way. Have a great day!
I *LOVE* the big dried flower square!! I’d do a backsplash or chair rail or the shower wall in my daughter’s bathroom in a stinking heartbeat!
Maybe it’s just me... I like both. Even though the color changes I like the fresh flowers transformation
This would be so cool to do with your wedding bouquet!
She did this and it turned out beautiful!
@@thatfijiwatergirl could I possibly pay her if ever I want mine or a friend's done too?
Did you use just a regular epoxy or a special kind
I'm actually doing it, my soon-to-be husband wanted to keep it forever, so we decided to preserve it in resin
Yes, another youtuber did it this way. It still discolored slightly but far less than any other method.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the fresh Queen Anne's Lace!! Much better version than the dried. The dried rose was prettier and the other flower was gorgeous! I LOVE the mold with the faceted edges! Love ALL your videos! Keep on recording!
The fresh queen Anne's lace is gorgeous. 😊
A wood turning guy did it ...and you can but its a pain
She’s done other flowers in that way 💖
try to hang the flower upside-down to dry it out
I've seen people use silica gel beads to dry the flowers out without flattening them, then putting them in resin that way.
I like how all the colors from the fresh flowers came out
but the fresh flowers will turn brown in the resin...I tried that years ago.
Tomoko Abe She’s talking about the fresh flowers after they were put in resin.
K J yea sometimes they start turning brown after awhile even within the resin
The Ururun User ohhh I see.
Me too! I prefer fresh flowers came out best!
I feel like the completely preserve the fresh flowers you’d have to completely cover them in resin and not have any part sticking out
I cant believe that wasn't common sense... if a fresh flower with moisture inside it is exposed to air, it will speed the decomposition process. if it's fully encased in resin it most likely could prevent it from aging, degrading, & browning. what a waste of a video.
ania common sense is not that common 🤷🏻♀️
I agree
If common sense were common everyone would have it! LOL
@@largeautomobile have you tried that and it worked? I previously used fresh flowers, covered them in resin (as the back of my phone case) and they turned to brown and yellow. no part of them was sticking out. my phone case was completely ruined.

Thank you for showing us the difference. They were interesting results. My favourite was the fresh lace flower I thought looked amazing, but also the diamond edge coaster looked beautiful. Absolutely love your channel ❤️ x
I like dried best, however the fresh has a strange feel to it -- like life frozen in plastic.
I suppose because it’s life frozen in plastic?
@@johvie Funny bonk bonk. We need to buy you some resin for your comments. Ha ha. :)
Where the air bubbles are may rot. So a good idea is to add some resin in first, then the flower and finally the rest of the resin.
She did that.
Thata exactly what she did tho?
Did we watch the same video or?
What brand of resin are you using? I love how it looks!!
Oh my God the Queen Anne's Lace is killing me!
Sooo.. if you got a minute I have a little story for you. I'm silly like that😘
Bizarre how I found your Channel.
I take great care to make sure that every piece of a flower is just so!

Anyways, and your fairy lights! 😍😇
I read the description and was like wait a minute WHAT?!
I always thought I was a fairy and I'm pretty sure I'm going to prove that to myself this year and I'm proud of it!😂

The first one .. Imagine those old school 80s showers with the clear fat tile brick things with these flowers in them 😍
Okay the square one reminds me of a tile soooo would you be able to use these as tiles? Like behind a sink or in the shower 🤔
I dried and kept the roses my boyfriend has gave me. Two vases now. Would love to preserve them without crushing them
Regardless of being fully immersed or not, if they’ve got water in them (which if they’re “fresh,” they do) they will wilt and brown anyways.
Very interesting results. I think the air bubbles add to the overall look. Thanks for sharing your project.

I'm not really a regular UA-cam user. I came specifically to learn how to preserve flowers in resin and I am immediately HOOKED on your videos! I am gonna DO this thing, but first I have to binge watch all your vids. 😉
I quite liked the result of the fresh flowers, still. The shimmer rose looked like gold, and the queen anne's lace looked really pink.

The fresh vs the dried
Neither process wasn't bad. 😉
So I actually loved the fresh rose and the fresh Queen Anne lace.
Just to let you know to pour the resin high 8" in a small stream to get all air bubbles out!

hi, i love your artworks. recently i tried using resin for seaweed and it is my first time so here is some questions which i'm glad if you can answer them:
1. how to speed up the resin to cure? i thought can use microwave but unfortunately it started producing smokes and that creeps me out.lol
2. why when i'm using fresh seaweed or fresh aquatic plants there is some whitish formed around the plant? should i literally dried the water first.
3. can we use other than silicone mold?
thanks a lot.
I agree with you on which we’re best. My question to you as a fellow artist that works with resin is, “where are your gloves??!!??”

I recently found your channel and I love your work!! I was wondering if it’s possible to cast fake (plastic) flowers in resin or if they’d just melt?
I'm new to this kind of craft. I was planning to put resin to my newly bloomed tulips, but I was in doubt so I found your video and you have a very interesting observation. Thank you. You're a big help💐
I love watching what you do! Now, please tell me where to get the mold you used for the last dried flower you took out of the mold (too long of a name for me to remember LOL). The mold looks like a coaster with bezel edges. Do you think the colors will further change with time on the fresh flowers?
there's a link in the description
Wouldn't the stem that's still exposed to the air have a factor in it's turning brown? Is it possible to do it in a deeper mold?!
That was my thought exactly. It had to have some type of effect on it. Air would be allowed inside.
I thought so too... Because the one that was totally submerged fared much better...
I agree. Leaving the fresh flowers exposed to air will cause them to whither and start dying with or without the resin.
They’d all brown and decay anyways, regardless of whether or not they’re enclosed in resin.
@@uselesswriting3092 but without oxygen entering, how would the decaying process take place?
That is from the water in the flowers most likely
@@altr3777 yes, that's my thought too, but hers didn't do that at all. So maybe it has a bit to do with the resin too... mine takes a lot longer to dry up, about 3 days. Maybe the curing time of my resin gives the moisture more time to make the milky clouds 🤷🏼♀️😊
It could also get worse with time. I'd like an update on these if anything changes because i would bet it does
It seems like the more delicate the petals or flowers, when fresh losers it colours, but surprisingly the Queen Anne lace kept its colour fresh.
To me that seems like a hardier flower to work with fresh. My first time watching you and you are awesome, Thank you.🌷

I think it adds so much and just makes it look more homemade (my favorite) but I think they look beautiful!

it's almost like flowers with less moisture can handle the resin process better :)
I am just wondering If,
1, flowers are pre cooled before pouring the resin
2.resin is first sprayed onto flowers in small amounts and then embed
would preserve the colour better. Just a thought. I love your work!
