Thanks for the content. I just purchased HelioGazer, Lunar Crush and Star Party. I’m going to attempt aNEIPA, an Italian lager and a west coast with them. So glad you posted this. Thanks for the research!🍻
Great experiment! I've always wondered if you can just use Hallertau Blanc and Nelson combination to get that funky white grape flavor in a beer instead of using something like Phantasm, and it seems like that might be true! Best of luck on NHC!!
Hey thanks for the report! I had a pretty dang similar experience with cosmic punch. I tried three different recipes with it. With and without various mash hops… I didn’t love any of the beers. They had a distinct stinky fruit note - it sounds like yours did too. So yeah I’m with you so far. These yeasts certainly have potential, but it seems no one has figured out yet how to hit a home run with them. I prefer more hoppy flavors!
I could see that "stinky fruit" description. I recently had a nice hazy made with Nelson Sauvignon. You could get some of the same character as I got from the Helio Gazer, but it was much more in balance with other hop characters in the beer.
