That's not true, you can recognize Grand Seiko from the miles especially when they are zaratsu polished and in ever brilliant steel, they really shine like the explosion of supernova from the distance.
@@dado380 No they don't. Zaratsu polishing is just mirror or black polishing, there is literally nothing special about it apart from the fact that you won't really find it on affordable watches. Many brands do it, including Seiko.
My Grand Seiko is from the years when they only put the Seiko logo on top of the dial and had Grand Seiko on the lower half of the dial. So it's even more incognito. I was showing the watch to some friends and one says... do you all remember the days when Seiko used to be a good brand? 🤦
I have the 079 (same but in black) i love it. its excellent for the price. ordered the SLA055's rubber strap to match and ill be after a seichu strap. Complain about the bracelet all you want but it its not BAD and everything else is punching WAY about the pricetag. this will be in the collection for at least a decade.
The crystal is incredible. Almost looks like one of those oil filled sinn hydros at the oblique angles. This is my current favourite in the Seiko collection. Just waiting on the right deal before I bite.
I love mine. Keeping my watch collecting simple and smaller and one example of any particular brand, this will be THE Seiko for me. I've been looking for THE white dial black bezel diver for quite a while. This hit the spot. Yes, it's more of textured opaline white dial. But, I'd say in person, the dial basically appears white 97% of the time. FYI, it's definitely not a ceramic bezel insert. It can and has scratched. And , I'm careful as hell with my watches. And, I'd highly suggest if alignment is still an issue for you, go try one on in person and ask to see a few examples to pick the best aligned one. Yes, it's a Seiko and can still have alignment issues. I had the choice to pick from amongst 3 at an AD. It runs pretty accurately. Been getting +1.2 s/d. Very comfortable. It's a solid watch and seriously anticipate this will be a long term keeper in my watch collection. Definitely worth the premium to go up to the 8L35 movements and skip the 6R BS models, IMHO. It's not perfect, no watch is, but, for me it is close enough to it for my purposes.
Mine is about 5/6 fast a day. The bracelet is a bit snaggy if you have arm hair. But nice bracelet overall. LUME LUME LUME! Walk outside and come back in and your watch is on fire. The bezel could have a bit less resistance.
Nice watch, i prefer tbe standard black version. Will wait till its reduced fo $1500 retail or get it for less on the used market. Thats the true value.. not mugging myself off paying $2900..
I own the Sbdx017, this new iteration is superb. I prefer the black dial version. Probably one of my next Seiko purchases, in a few months, when they will be available second-hand at an unbeatable price. Thanks for this video which makes me want this new MM300 more and more.❤️👋🇨🇵
Seems like a double-dome, not a single. 3 grand, and no "S" engraved on the crown. These used to have the extendable clasps, no? Now, just their cheap, stamped dive-extension? Still prefer their older dials, with the older letterings (before the entrance of the Prospex logos). An applied "SEIKO" may have added a bit of a sense of the premium-ness as well.
This reminds me of the Jack Mason Hydrotimer without the tan lume in this particular colorway. Ugh, divers are all starting to look the same to me. Love the case of the Marine Masters.
Rob I share your enthusiam for this one! Seiko are winning me over and I would actually spend my hard earned money on this peice or the new mm200 GMT ltd editions The orginal 300 to me always had proportion issues - dial was the same as 39mm or even 38mm watches I own - too small, thickness was rediculous and the bracelet - links too large and not 3 piece and then their is the ~200g weight. Its why every reviewer I follow flips them time and time again.
Does it have downsides? Yes. Some brands that are cheaper has a better specsheet? Sure. Is there any other brand that offers a watch in this style? No. Seiko has lost it's value king crown when they discontinued most of their value offering (SARB, SKX, etc.) so at this point, you're buying a Seiko because of their brand identity, not really prestige or history, more on the design language. The shortcomings and the lack of adapting to trends hasn't really deterred me from getting a Seiko and I'm not really the biggest fan of Seiko because of their refusal of adaption to trends (got an SJE101), sometimes, value for money takes a backseat and if you're fine with living with something that a $300-$600 can already offer in a $2800 watch then it's fine, if you want value just don't buy a watch at all. At the end of the day, wristwatches like these are for the dopamine hit every time you look at them, jewelry. Doesn't need to be technical, sometimes you have to let your heart decide.
Needs an actual ceramic bezel inserts except for $2,900 MSRP. Seen plenty of Seiko divers with these hard coated steel inserts get scratched up. Besides it looks just like a polished ceramic insert anyhow.
I'm going to take a few minutes out of my day to point out the faults of this watch, because I have yuge list! I hope everybody see my critique and thus convince them of my fast horological knowledge, hence thus convince them that it's not a good watch so they don't buy it, hence hence thus my job of Watchman of Watchtropolis is complete. What. Of course I feel good about my comments. Ok, here they are. Wait, what do you mean I've typed the maximum characte
That's Sinn/Damasko pricing. But if you went with a non-Seiko, you'd miss out on all the fun and suspense of how badly you'll get bitten by Seiko's trademark bezel/chapter ring misalignment.
Stupid seiko stop with that date window At this point id rather the hole punch not SQUARE But we shouldn't still lower our standards wtf seiko Also that clasp still is unacceptable. Id raplace it instantly with the strap code wet suit racheting clasp
Best part, you'll never get mugged. Only we can tell the difference between a standard $299 Seiko and a $2,999 one. That's why I love my Grand Seiko.
Sadly, I don't think they even make $299 dive watches any more. Only the 5 Sports series "dive style" watches are in that range.

seikopaths across the world unite!....i love it
Love Exquisite!
Just bought a month old preowned Submariner from them.
Highly recommended. Jeyna is my person.

I love Seiko, I have a few, but I have a hard time spending more than a thousand on them, let alone three.
Same here
The marinemasters are just so awesome.
Mine is about 5/6 fast a day. The bracelet is a bit snaggy if you have arm hair. But nice bracelet overall. LUME LUME LUME! Walk outside and come back in and your watch is on fire. The bezel could have a bit less resistance.
I don't think there's anything better than the original Marine Master.
you say that until you wear one for a year and notice all the scratches on the hardlex
I purchased the black dial a few weeks back. Fabulous watch - and mine is running 0 to +1 a day.
Nice watch, i prefer tbe standard black version. Will wait till its reduced fo $1500 retail or get it for less on the used market. Thats the true value.. not mugging myself off paying $2900..
Yea I’d pay $1500. Just wondering how long it’s gonna take to get down there
I purchased a Seiko SPB-453 through Jack at Exquisite Timepieces. Awesome AD! I had my new watch in 2 days. That was during the hurricane as well.
It’s a beautiful Seiko for sure. For $2,900 Seiko needs to add a damn tool less micro adjust
No doubt.
I have the MM300 with the mono case…for me, that will always be the MM. this is nice but it doesn’t have the character of the big chunky one…
There can only be one! (Highlander)

I love this watch - Gorgeous

You're right Rob, you're gonna do it.
This reminds me of the Jack Mason Hydrotimer without the tan lume in this particular colorway. Ugh, divers are all starting to look the same to me. Love the case of the Marine Masters.
Tell you what, I prefer it to an Omega Speedmaster white dial.
What a stunning watch!
Rob I share your enthusiam for this one!

Very nice watch !!!
The only thing that frustrates me is for that price it should come with on the fly adjustment. But I would still by it
Does it wear bigger or smaller than the SKX?
Bigger. It’s about 49mm lug to lug. SKX007 was 46mm lug to lug.
i would love that in orange 🤤
What ref is that pepsi seiko in the back?
Good looking watch
Nice!!!!
I still think the best value in seiko is the spb prospec level. Example spb 143 ,spb151 or the very best one that i have is the sbdc061 mm200
5:20 on a grand scale....hmm, I propose a brand new watch company called GRAND Seiko... Thoughts?
Nice piece you got 👌🏼
Thought I was looking at my white SMP initially!
Needs an actual ceramic bezel inserts except for $2,900 MSRP. Seen plenty of Seiko divers with these hard coated steel inserts get scratched up. Besides it looks just like a polished ceramic insert anyhow.
Dear Random Rob
SLA077 VS MM300 whos lume brighter and longer ?
thank ypu🙂
I like the og mm300 a lot more. Everything is better maybe except the bracelet ( exluding the clasp)
At this point, Seiko is just a design company.
I dig it
다이얼의 질감이 새롭게 느껴지고 입체적으로 느껴집니다 그런데 마린마스터 로고는 반갑지만.. 폰트의 두께가 너무 얇네요 마이크로브랜드 같습니다
3 grand won’t even buy you a signed crown from Seiko
What, no glidlock? for that price!!!!
no ceramic bezel, no fast micro adjustment for the clasp, -10/+15 caliber. ridiculous for the price, it's anachronistic,
I'm surprised it even has sapphire glass lol
Isn’t that a ceramic bezel?
@TaylorCFP no it's a laquered metallic one. Shame on Seiko.
Its just so not done these prices
Yes and the lacquer is ceramic ffs.
It’s 42.6mm. Just sayin’
They butchered the Marine Master, this is just the bastard child of all the stuff they've made over the past few years.
I'm going to take a few minutes out of my day to point out the faults of this watch, because I have yuge list! Picking up an expensive watch in the Taliban state that always votes for a fat convicted criminal for president, what could possibly go wrong?
That escalated quickly 😯
@jlarsson1978 sad but true, Florida has proved its true Taliban colour
I have no interest in this watch at this price
Stupid seiko stop with that date window
At this point id rather the hole punch not SQUARE
But we shouldn't still lower our standards wtf seiko
Also that clasp still is unacceptable. Id raplace it instantly with the strap code wet suit racheting clasp
Seiko is just getting free money from the fan boys community. Longines is simply a better watch for an equivalent price
I always associated Seiko with a JC Penney brand. Why not buy a real luxury brand for this money?
Watch snob detected.
