For those who still have issues with this method, here is he solution:
So the main issue is the CELSYS folder location. In the past, CSP used to automatically store it in the Documents folder (like the video above), but after their 1.10.13 update, they moved it to appdata/roaming folder. So if you try to copypaste the CELSYS to the roaming it won't work, bec your original CELSYS file was made for the Documents folder.
Solution:
1. Download a version of CSP before the appdata/roaming change. this is basically until 1.10.12.
2. It'll automatically save CELSYS to the Documents, and there you can copy paste your custom CELSYS like the video shows.
3. Update to the latest CSP version. Your brushes, preferences and settings will all be retained upon opening :--)

This is great. I believe this was filmed after it was in roaming. I think you might be able to move contents from the celesys folder but I’d need to test it on and old version. Might not be worth it considering how old 1.10.13 is now.

You're a lifesaver! I just updated my PC and the last time I had to reinstall CSP it was a couple of days worth of work. It severely ate into my work time and made it so I was hesitant of anything that would have me uninstall the program. Followed these steps and bam, everything as it was! Thank you!

Finally managed to get the 3d models in. You have to make sure the materials go inside the material folder inside the common folder that is being targeted. There's multiple material folders so its easy to get confused. One material folder had the common folder inside it, Once i dragged my 100 material folders into that common and then clicked "organize materials" in the "manage material" tab it worked.
Now I need to figure out how to get my workspace and brushes in. I did back up every single brush into neat folders just in case i need to manually dump them all in.
did you manage to figure it out? the only backup i have is my CELSYS folder and when i try to do the method above it doesn't load anything anymore :((( I'm so upset I may lose all my brushes and preferences..
FOR CSP 1.11 + or other version (not sure) or there are additional files aside from CELSYS file in vid.
1. Install or Setup the CSP like the usual thing. Doesn't matter if you accidentally open it.
2. In my case, the files present is CELSYS_EN, CELSYS, CELSYSUserData.
Don't know which is important but I copy the CELSYS and CELSYSUserData (This file contains materials and brushes).
# Just do the method on the vid in copying. (You can zip or rar since there's thousands of yknow) makes it easier.
3. Delete or backup the old files and replace the files with new ones (Files from step 2)
*If the file location are from AppData/Roaming. Just use Window button + R and type "%AppData%" it should open through file explorer and you can copy or paste in it.
*In some cases, it's better to uninstall and reinstall CSP and do the methods above.
So you copy the CELSYS and CELSYSUserData and save it somewhere, and then delete the original folder from roaming and replace it with the copied one ? is that work ?
EDIT: I am a buffoon. Refreshing my workspace applied my old settings.
I'm not usually one to comment on tutorial vids but I have to say, this saved my life. I have 5+ years worth of downloaded store assets and brushes that I didn't want to lose. I have a lot that are no longer on the asset store so I would've had no way to find them again. I lost my workspace layout (which is totally fine and easy to set back up) but retained my preferences/key bindings is the only thing that didn't work properly.

I know this is a very old video and comment but do you still remember what you did to restore your workspace and custom brushes? I only have a copy of my old CELSYS folder out of the documents folders back then and now have a new pc, I copied everything in but had to change my material path to my D drive for space reasons and all of my settings are gone now qwq
I am not able to choose reload workspace despite copying the entire old folder and it loads the default workspace if I close and Reopen the program however the saved materials from the Asset store are there as far as I've seen. I am not very good at transfering everything yet due to this being the first time and everything is really confusing, If you could help me I'd be very happy.. :)
@@satourino I mostly just followed this video and threw my stuff on a flashdrive (only thing I had on me). As for workspace, I had to manually set it back up unfortunately ): It's been so long that I can't remember exactly what I did, I'm sorry!

for now I managed to get my brushes and materials again by deleting and reinstalling everything back onto C and dragging the CELSYS folder with my saved stuff in but now I'm fighting with space issues again and want to change the save path to D.
Do you happen to know how that works maybe?
I know I have to relocate the materials through Clips 'Location of Materials' but it tells me after moving that I have to 'Move the old data to the trash' before I close the program however I don't know what data specifically? I tried some things but the entire program reset back to default every time and I had to reenter my Key and log in so I know I deleted the wrong stuff haha.
I haven't found a clear tutorial on this step since everywhere I look it just said to move the old data and nothing else and no one seems to have this problem so maybe I am just extraordinarily stupid but I've been on this trial and error for a week now and loosing hope. I'm sorry for asking you for further help but you are the first person that answered me :')

This was a life saver! I had some brush packs that i downloaded outside csp and i was dreading the though of manually saving and uploading every single file over and over; i though there must be an easier alternarive but damn not THAT easy

there may be some mismatch problems now due to updates and what not since some people (including me are) having troubles with the tutorial
in the case you do have the backup folder, you may want to do this:
reinstall CLIP and delete all folders related to it, after a clean installation, launch the exe and wait for it to restore the default materials, browse the CELSYS route (like the video shows) and locate the CLIPStudioCommon folder, close the program but save the route
go back to your backup folder and locate CLIPStudioCommon, copy it along any other folder and files that are within the same folder and copy/paste them into the default ones, you should have (at the very least) most of your materials back
This is interesting. Usually when someone asks, I go do through the process again. Other than an update moving the folder location, I haven't had any issues when they change versions. I just go to the clip studio app like in the video to see where they hid it on me. Thanks for the tip, at least if you have the folder, reinstall isnt such a big deal.

No, I copied the entire thing. I renamed that main folder first though in case had to revert back.

Thank you so much. Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but for Mac users, the folder is under Macintosh HD > Users > YouUserName > Library (This folder might be hidden).
Thanks for sharing! I know on of the releases they changed the path for me on Windows. I was like where the hell did it go? I had to go into the Clip Studio App to see where they hid it.

oh my god thank you so much!! the first time i tried it sorta worked, but many of my brushes (esp ones imported from photoshop) got all corrupted. i got upset but decided to try again and it worked perfectly!! i was afraid transferring brushes would've been impossible bc the cloud backup wasn't working but now i have them and it took so much less time 😭

Hi, I just want to say thank you for making this tutorial! I think not a lot of people (even me) got their workspace, shortcuts, brushes imported back like what you did in the video. Most of people in the comments just did "Organize Materials" after renaming, I did do it and got my brushes back but it's not imported on my CSP.
What did you do exactly? Are you transferring to another PC or are you restoring to the same PC you started from. I just tried this again last night and it worked perfectly.
If you moved from PC to PC, I need to know what version of Clip you started with and what version you were trying to migrate to.

That is an old version. If you were migrating to a different version, you need to check the folder path on the destination PC.

Great video, thanks for the tips. I was looking for a way to reset my brushes completely since I wanted to change the way I organized my paid-for brushes. When I removed the brushes from CSP and reimport them into a new subtool group, the names get changed (the number increments) if the brush had been previously imported. So my brush name numbers get out of sync from the brush manufacturer PDF documentation makeing it hard to find the right brushes.

Hi! Can i ask for guided help? I just got my new Laptop and was excited about using it, and wanting to use my Wacom on it. I tried to copy and paste my data from this old Laptop i have, to my new PC. The old way of using a thumb drive. And when i moved them to the Computers memory, so the PC and Desktop just by experimenting.
One thing to note, i do have the CELCYES folder. But i think it doesn't have anything saved. What i did, is that i worked on this for 5 hours the other day. And i had to update the Laptop. The Clip Studio has a cloud storage with 3 options to use. I don't have a clue.
My arts are saved in the same folder saved Pictures. Which might be one of those problems. I even asked the Help Center "How to transfer data, even copied data to the PC. I even watched a video, but the Tutorial doesn't look quite the same as how i got it set up. (But it's meant to be helpful to the folders.)
Anyway, i am in a bit of a struggle. Any ideas on how to save data? And transfer? I have backup data, but I'm struggling to transfer it though.

Hi, I'm a little confused, I had all 5,2236 materials alphabetized and organized in custom named folders, I just downloaded csp to a computer and decided to copy my entire celsys folder to a thumb drive and put it on the new pc. Which worked fine everything showed up but when I went to check my laptop it's like everything was erased even though i only copied the original files. Renaming the folder didn't help.

Hello! I've tried this multiple times and it still didn't carry over any of my settings. Is there a way to tell which CELSYS folder has modified settings? Because it seems like the folder the gear says has the location of materials, I transferred that exact folder and no luck. Thanks!

I just checked mine @1:00 is how you check the location. Try the renaming trick first and see if that works. My materials folder is like a couple of gigabytes so I know that’s it. I’m pretty sure the actual materials are in the celsys folder > clipstudiocommon > material

Hello! I used to be able to do this effortlessly but in my latest install, it doesn't work anymore. My brushes and materials are saved in the 'Manage Materials' tab, but in the workspace everything is default, no custom brushes, and even the custom keyboard shortcuts are gone. I'm devastated as this is all years of work, gone. I don't know what to do anymore honestly.
What version of Clip did you install? If you open the clip studio paint app, then click the gear, what is the path?
Also, what version are you coming from? The video has you rename the folder. I’m not sure how you could lose anything. Just rename the folder back to what it was and launch clip.

Same problem right now ;; my workspace is reset to default and my keyboard shortcuts too... But I do have my materials back its just pain in the ass to organize those and everything ;;
@@CreateNowSleepLater Hello! My version now is like 1.12.0 while the older one was around 1.9.4. I think the issue arises from a clean install, as in no previous CSP on your PC.
Before the 1.10.12 update, the CELSYS was automatically stored in the Docs folder, while after, it got moved to the Appdata/roaming folder in C drive. When users had the older version and updated to the latest, both folders are retained so the materials get moved fine. However, on a clean install, CELSYS is only stored in Roaming folder so that conflicts with the older Documents folder upon transfer.
Maybe try transferring the CELSYS on a clean install of the latest CSP version to see if it still works like the video? I see others with the same problem and I can't find a fix atm.
Question: What if the old PC bit the dust?
I can access the old drive, and I can even access the old "OneDrive" folder. However, it throws up an error when I try to copy anything out of that old "OneDrive" folder.
Mmmm, try logging into the OneDrive website. Maybe it’s there? Otherwise, yank the drive and mount it to another pc, take ownership and you should be able to grab it.

Once you get everything set up, you copy that folder. Everything is saved there. Have you lost them or you just want a backup to another pc or something?

There is a process where you release the license from an old device within the app. I’m pretty sure you are allowed 2 instances though.

I have a problem. When I locate my old files where my interface and brush are stored I only retrieve my workspace and not my brushes
For the artwork that you’ve created in the old device is it possible to transfer your drawings as well as ur tools??
What kind of device?
Copying your artwork Clip files on a usb and then copying them where you want them on your new device worked for me, I got a new PC and after making a test file with some scribbles I copied my old works into the folder the test was saved in and opened one to test it out.
I suggest trying it with One copy first if you are not sure :)

Yes it should. Only once did it not back up my workspace but that was easy to fix. I just saved it as a material. The rest was all good. I just built a new PC and transfered everything.

You said you backed up everything. You can’t follow the video because you don’t have access to the original folders? Either way, .abr and .sut files should import fine.

@@elite_raze7087 honestly I just took the Clip studio common file on my desktop (the location of my materials) and I uploaded it on my Google drive. Then I downloaded it on my laptop and replaced it. I hope that makes sense 🖤

Would you mind making an updated version of this? CSP has different configurations now. The CELSYS used to commonly be in the D/Documents drive, but now it is in the C/roaming so it's all jumbled up now and not as simple :(
If you open the Clip Studio App (not paint), and hit the gear. Is the path not listed?
@@CreateNowSleepLater The path is listed under C drive for the newer updates, while in the old one it was in the D://documents drive. As I'm using a newer PC now I'm trying to transfer my old CELSYS files via this method (which I've done in the past no problem, when everything was in the docs folder), but for some reason it doesn't work anymore. When I load the screen it's just the default brushes and workspace unfortunately.

Hello, I wanted to ask how do you know which one the the custom one and which one is the original one?
The only "live" one is the one the path points to in the clip studio app. I always rename a folder I am about to replace in case something goes wrong. So if you were transferring to another device, you still need to look up the path in the app in case they changed it.
could you explain the folder thing in more detail?i didnt understand, like do i make a folder out of the device with the settings i want, send it to my current device, and replace the folders?

I renamed the folder for demo purposes. Use the video to trace your steps, you probably renamed the folder your assets are in. Open Clip Studio (the app) and see where the path is. Its all in one folder.

Whatever you name it doesnt really matter. You are basically copying that folder and putting it someplace else until you need it. If I didnt rename it, I couldnt have shown that it works. If I was restoring, I would rename the folder instead of merging in case something goes wrong.

You couldnt have been doing it right. You might have deleted the folder, check the recycle bin.
Sorry, this didn't work for me at all. I tried renaming the folder but it just keeps creating new folders named "Celsys".
What creates new folders? Every time you open the program, it will do that.
Replace that new Celsys folder with your old Celsys folder which has all your saved CSP settings, if you are transferring from one computer to another and want to replicate your CSP from the old computer to the new one exactly the way it is.

Does anyone knows if it still works with 2.0? :(( It worked perfectly before but I'm not unsure how to go with backing up my stuff now since 2.0 folders look so much different
Look different how? 2.0 isn't a new ground up version. Unless you are coming from a really old version.
Sorry for spamming you with comments but I have CELSYS AND CELSYS_EN. When I directly click on Browse from the csp app it takes me to csp common. I’m not sure which one is has my brushes and stuff

@@CreateNowSleepLater oh, okay cuz when I clicked on the path they show two files with the same name.
Just use the one in the actual app, If you are actually restoring it to another device, don't delete the existing CELESYS folder. Rename it so you can always revert back if something goes wrong.

I wish you hadn't saved and renamed the file before hand because now I'm incredibly confused whether I need to copy the ClipStudioCommon folder or the ENTIRE CELSYS folder :/

Ok, that is a bit different from the video is unhelpful. I just did it again myself and it works just fine.
it won't let me rename the files when I open the clip studio launcher. Is anyone else having this issue? (EDIT: Fixed it! Was using the wrong location!)

Hi I have a question. I have my software installed in my laptop and I redeemed it through my wacom tablet. Now I want it same in my new Samsung galaxy s6 lite tablet. I've installed the software now what to do next? I logged in with my old csp id and it says this device can't use the same license. What should I do now?
The Samsung tablet is android, that requires a subscription I thought, unless you are paying a subscription for your Windows version?
