I know it 3 years old, but I just watch this video for the first time. Excellent video! Very well presented and good detail. My egg is 10 years old and was overdue for new seals. Thanks for providing a great video.
Hey Nic, great video as ever. I was actually looking for a guide as to how to adjust underbite with new style hinges and couldn't find one anywhere. Gladly you did this gasket change on a new one so super useful to me!
Thanks for the video on How to. My egg needs new gasket. I thinking about making a cut 1:00 position on the lower part to allow my temperature gauges wires to passthru. Have you every tried this to allow the lid to complete close with the temperature gauge's wires?
Keith, I’ve not tried this. I did have a gap once by accident and the smoke that came out drove me nuts. It’ll also let out heat that potentially will burn away the gasket.

I’ve had the same problem. It’s a shortcoming of the egg that you can’t run a probe wire to the outside.
Thank you
You really need to stop telling people to use these hinge retainers. NO ONE still has those things!!!
You can use sturdy zip ties to stop the hinge opening.
Most people seem to have kept the retainers when their Egg was delivered.
