The black and white fight sequence was the best part of the film. Bale killed it as GORR. He did the character justice… but agree that they should’ve shown more of his ‘God butchering’. Only personal gripe is that some of the humor felt forced, and unnecessary.
It was ok- entertaining but could have developed Christian Bale’s villain Gorr more - maybe 10 minutes more. Build up the menace and this movie needed to let him breathe as an actor.
For me Ragnarok was a good balance of traditional Thor and the storytelling and Taika's humor. Love and Thunder went overboard for the laugh. I agree with Cam to in that we knew where this movie fit into the scheme of things. It felt like a stand alone but it's definitely my least favorite marvel movie. It could have been better.
I loved it, the emotional beats hit for me. The kids in the cinema loved watching kids kick ass, and their parents were teary eyed. I heard recently that the asguardian kids were played by Chris, Taika, Natalie and Christians children. Also, gorrs daughter was played by Chris Hemsworth daughter. Taika got the kids to sketch monsters, he gave them to marvel and they put them in the film. Hit me in the feels knowing this film was a family affair.
I went into it with no expectations and I enjoyed it nobody in the mcu has a more tragic story than Thor he’s literally lost everyone close to him and I like to see how this all ends for him
That was literally what i was telling a friend the other day. Even his friends in the founding Avengers, 3 out of 6 of the main Avengers are out. He's got no one else left but maybe Quill, Valkyrie, Korg and the little girl.
Anybody notice that the bad guys Thor and the Guardians fought at the beginning of the movie looked like Jim Henson's Muppets (a la Dark Crystal, Labyrinth)? Made it extra comical. 😄
It was over the top corny in the first half, and in the 2nd half it got more serious. That whole scene of them on that planet in black and white was the best scene of the whole movie hands down. Also, not enough bale was my huge problem with it
I was excited for Love and Thunder, it was tragically never gonna beat Ragnarök though. I missed my Sir Anthony Hopkins and his tough love father routine" are you Thor the God of Hammers?"Loving the Jason Aaron Run that Introduced Gorr, I too wish we could have seen some of his kills, or at least something to help him earn "the butcher". Truly one of the best Marvel villains, I wish had gotten more and a more comprehensive look at him at his killing spree. The film was good, I just wish we had a more focused film.
Completely agree with Tony, I think it was a good time. I loved the chaos, the comedy, and the hint of romance. I would've loved to see more Gorr action and more of Valkyrie. A little more Guardians b/c I love Thor's interactions with them. I'm excited to see what's next for Thor.
The scene of gorr holding his daughter when she died was reported to be so powerful. They said gorr gave off such a blood-curdling scream that it made marvel had to cut the scene completely i wish they left that scene in.
Thor love and thunder is a 10 out of 10 for me. It just hit for me. Wanted a lil bit more of the guardians of the galaxy probably like 10 more mins of scene time. Love your movie recap Tony yesssir.
Someone said it's less goofy, naw this was too much, Ragnarok had balance, jokes and an actual story, the journey was better, Love and Thunder was just too silly, A-list actors were wasted on Love and Thunder
I saw it with my bro last week... I thought it was good... My brother just thought that it was ok or even solid... We both agreed that Christian Bale carried this movie... We both liked Jane Foster's story, especially given that we've been thru that in our family... We also believe that this one was a little too goofy at times... Thor: Ragnarok was lightning in a bottle so it felt like they tried to overdo it with this one and got oversaturated... My brother gives it about 2.5 "saxophones" and I'm teeter-tottering between 2.5 and 3 "saxophones"... It's not in our top 10 or even top 15 of favorite superhero films, but this movie is definitely solid 👌🏾... On another note, I liked Thor: A Dark World, especially since it was a "Thor" type movie... I liked that one way better than the 1st Thor movie... Granted, A Dark World is not in the elite group of MCU movies, but I think it's underrated... Plus, it had a more serious tone than any of the other Thor movies... Anyway, Thor: Love and Thunder was surprisingly good 👍🏾
I liked it but not as much as Ragnarok. But was pleasantly surprised. It did feel rushed though. Gor needed more of a intro and back story. But it was a good time.
Every time GORR touched the screen I got chills Mr. Bale killed his role from the sounds and the picture and the way he moved and talked completely amazing!!!
I liked it. I enjoy Thor more as a comedy. The first two Thor movies were garbage trash. They could’ve gone really dark with Thor considering all the death and everything he’s gone through. But instead they made flipped it and made him funny. It works! Lmaooo YESSSSS TONY!! What more do you neeed!! Damn. I mess with Guns N Roses heavy music wise.
I'm tired of the spoiler free reviews. I'm not gonna watch the movies for 2 hours, but I'll sit and listen to Tony talk about one for 1 hour. All love tho, I still listened 🤗
Thanks for the spoiler free review! I usually have to put a pin on your reviews till I get a chance to watch them because of spoilers but you got me hyped for this one now!
I feel Sabrina on the owl/aliens feeling uneasy. I strangely felt the same way about the hotdog fingers in Everything Everywhere All At Once lol that shit was creepy af but I still laughed everytime I saw them
I thought it was a fun movie. The way they were able to mix deep tragedy with humor was very interesting. The movie was both one of the darkest and silliest movies marvel has ever released. people will talk about this movie for a long time.
I loved Gorr and I also believe he needed a bit more screen time BUT I loved the fact that the movie is more of a romantic comedy piece than anything else. It was a good bookend to Jane Foster especially after her absence in Ragnarok. I feel like this movie was more about Jane than it was about Gorr.
I agree with everything. I had a great time watching it. Ppl are getting too picky. I feel like when ppl watch a marvel movie they want to see how it goes against other movies amd don't take the time to just like it for it. I was entertained the whole time. Not my favorite movie but I'll definitely watch it again and buy it when it comes out. It was a great movie.
Had a rough time taking this movie seriously. Christian Bale’s full scope was flat, I cant believe homey said Hela didn’t have much to do and Gore had more. Really? Hella’s motivations were consistent all the way through and from the minute she came on the screen she was busy busy. Gore essentially attacked once (barely), ran, then sat down waiting to trap Thor. Every encounter with Hela had stakes, bc she was killing people left and right. Her collateral was visceral. Her “declaration of intent” was seen, and felt. Gore really did not make an impactful declaration. He was almost like a Voldemort in Harry Potter 1-4, he was a boogie man that barely existed (even Zeus was afraid and gave him the ‘he who is not to be named’ treatment), which was a real waste of a good character and actor. Everyone has their own opinion… to each their own. This is a 2 saxophone movie at best.
Movie was iight, Chris Hemsworth and Natalie has no chemistry at all together. Thor and Mijolnir and Stormbreaker have better chemistry. NOT GONNA LIE kids scene at the end folded me, I was a mess.

I didn’t watch reviews either but I thought it was great. Can’t bring myself to watch she hulk though. I don’t want to be disappointed. The fact it’s a series ??
That's Disney for you. We have to be family-friendly. But you have a load of adult jokes in the movie. Bareback Thor. Show us Gorr actually butchering some gods. I enjoyed the film. Going to see it again in about an hour.
Love that Marvel is Disney because the production budgets are going to be fully backed, but everything is gonna too kiddie. No grit. Plus dry sarcastic humor.
I still believe they crippled hulk so Thor can fly. That last Thor movie was really Planet Hulk/World War Hulk. I'm curious about this new Thor but in no rush
I love the first Thor, I think The Dark World is bottom 3 MCU movies, I don't care for Ragnarok, but Love and Thunder was a little better to me (maybe because my expectations were already low).
Thor Ragnorok was my fav out of the trilogy. The first movie was blah and the second one was ehh. I wanna see this one but I’ve heard no good reviews 😬
just my opinion, but they could have left Jane's Character out and the whole scene with Zeus, should have fleshed out Gorr's character more and given him more screen time as a villain. the movie was hilarious, but I preferred Ragnarok.
Jane becoming Lady Thor, then dying, was pulled straight from the comics. Everyone kept going, "They are gonna replace Thor with Jane FOREVER!!!! WHHAAAAAAAA!" And i kept telling them to read the fucking comics. When she gets his powers, she dies from cancer. That's exactly what happened.
@@KingBrandonm yes I'm aware of the comic story on Jane. I still think that Storyline could have been cut. Gorr is more intriguing than Jane's Story in my opinion.
@@d-rockthegreat Jane was done dirty after Dark World, they wanted to correct how she was just cut from the movies without any explanation. The Lady Thor storyline let her be brought back and have a proper send off to fix her abrupt disappearance after Thor 2. We got to see how their respective jobs drove them apart until one day they just were too distant to keep the relationship going. Idk if its been confirmed, but the difference in how long Thor said it was vs Jane points to her having been snapped, but she had disappeared long before Infinity and Endgame. I do agree that i would have loved to have seen more of Gorr, but i was happy that they addressed her disappearance from the movies and gave her a proper ending to her character. The MCU is too big and interconnected to just have people be dropped off the roster unexpectedly without addressing what happened. Black Panther 2 is gonna have a helluva time with Chadwicks passing in real life. Either they'll give some exposition explaining how he died off screen, or if his family allows they might CGI him in to show how he dies.
@@d-rockthegreat People may criticize how Taika has made Thor much more comedic, but he truly does understand the MCU on a very deep level. Thor's character development was done by both Taika and Hemsworth, it wasn't just Taika alone that drove him to be more comedic. Chris is legitimately a very funny guy and they both wanted Thor to be able to have that real part of him show through. But if you look at the ideas and easter eggs Taika works into his Thor movies, its clear that he does get it and him taking the time and effort to integrate the comics in a way that ties up Jane's loose end shows that. I don't want to beat a dead horse with this, but i really did appreciate how well he did her justice. She gets that proper send off she was denied, while continuing to drive Thor's character development further by having him lose the love of his life, and be given the chance to raise Gorr's daughter, becoming a better man through fatherhood and continuing on his journey of self discovery beyond his expected duties as a God. That's what the Taika Thor movies has always been about, Thor finding out who he is when you strip away his Asgardian Godhood and take a serious look at the man underneath. His position in the Aesir was who he is, it was all he was. Now he is becoming more than that, he is becoming himself, who he truly is in his heart. He didn't know who he really is and for much of his time since Ragnarok he has been simply trying to find that out. Its been a bumpy ride for Thor, he went through periods of depression, feelings of aimlessness and doubt, and I do not think this journey is done for him yet, but he is closer than ever before in finding the answer.
The black and white fight sequence was the best part of the film. Bale killed it as GORR. He did the character justice… but agree that they should’ve shown more of his ‘God butchering’. Only personal gripe is that some of the humor felt forced, and unnecessary.

More like 20-30 more
That’s all I’m sayin
Apparently there was alot of footage of Gorr left on the cutting room floor... & supposedly Christian Bale was alil upset about it! 🧐🤓

Lol I randomly think of that “Thor , the god of hammers “ line and chuckle to myself lol.
This movie should’ve been Gorr centric. I believe Gorr deserved two movies.
I agree 100% about C. Bale. Hated him in Shaft liked him in other films. He be acting.
I enjoyed Thor:L&R more than Doctor Strange:itMoM. 🤷🏾♀️
I look forward to hearing Tony's review. 🍞

The butchering would have probably made pushed it towards rated-R, and I thought I was the only one who loves Tessa Thompson's face!

Thor love and thunder is a 10 out of 10 for me. It just hit for me. Wanted a lil bit more of the guardians of the galaxy probably like 10 more mins of scene time. Love your movie recap Tony yesssir.
The volume in this video is waaaaaaay too low. I still enjoyed it but I was hella leaning in to my phone😁
That black & white scene reminded me of Sin City.
Volume is low for this video, except for the opener.
This was just a double down on Thor Ragnarok. But this is the only movie review that matters to me so thank you again Tony for another great video.
Someone said it's less goofy, naw this was too much, Ragnarok had balance, jokes and an actual story, the journey was better, Love and Thunder was just too silly, A-list actors were wasted on Love and Thunder

Fun fact Tony the little girl that played gorr's daughter is Chris Hemsworth real life daughter.

It didn’t give adults everything they wanted and expected of a movie based. On one of the best thor graphic novels ever made .

My thoughts are I feel Thors character has been watered down when compared to the comics....
