Same! Saw it twice in four days last week and started looking at movie times again tonight. G Held off this time but might not make it through the weekend without a 3rd watch.
There is a video where Tom takes the actors through actual flight training. He also had multiple imax cameras in the cockpit to film their real reactions. This was fun to watch.
#TopGunMaverick does everything a great sequel should do: - Give the audience something new - Identify what worked before and build upon it - Change the stakes - Play with expectations - Add new memorable characters Please go see it at an IMAX theater near you!!
I think we're long overdue for a movie DIRECTED by Tom Cruise. He's so hands on in every other aspect of filmmaking behind the camera but has never helmed a film. We need that!!
Firefox was good too. This was a great flick! The scenes with Iceman were the most emotional to me and had me tear up each time. They never mention what happened to "Charlie's" character after Maverick and her got together in the original film. Tom = Collateral Ed = The Abyss Val = Heat
Oh hell, I cried repeatedly (even at the very beginning). Top Gun was a fixture of my high school days. We burned up VHS tapes and everyone wanted to be a "naval aviator." Funny thing, of my friends who all talked a big game I'm the only one that served...in the Army. Like Rooster, I skipped the Naval Academy, but for me it was when I realized 1) I can't see 2) I hate being on boats 3) my Army family would have disowned me! I loved my Army career, but I have to concede this movie tied back to my own experiences and camaraderie well. I have my own Iceman and Goose to remember. Not pilots, but dear friends who faced adversity together. And any old war-fighter like me can get nostalgic of the good old days, "we were soldiers once, and young" - which is a whole other movie.
The crazy thing is that Tom actually flies planes and can do some of those moves for real! He might have done his own stunts like he usually tries too do! Of course not all of them.
Yes!!! Thank you for mentioning that the talking after the love scene "felt like grown folk" and "good company." That's exactly what I loved about it and why I think it's stayed with me. Yet I haven't heard any reviewer refer to it as perfectly as you did. They had great, believable chemistry. Favorite Tom Cruise film has always been A Few Good Men but TGM might replace it.
The shots with the actors are real. Tom actually flies. The others I believe were in a jet but usually behind a trained pilot, from what I think I remember about the film making
@@grumpee8432 Not stunt doubles, the actors really flew in the F-18. They didn’t PILOT the planes though, they sat in the back seat while the real Navy pilots piloted the planes. The actors still had to go thorough extensive flight training to be able to manage the extreme g-forces.
I enjoyed this film!!! He loves practical effects!!! My favorite quote Tom said was " I really just want to entertain you" he means it! He works hard !
Girl my sister went to the Thursday night showing and insisted i go ai we went sunday morning. Amazing movie. I'm more Mission impossible Tom Cruise but this was Epic!!
I'm an 80s baby (1983) but I have never watched Top Gun...for some reason. I've seen most of the 80s classics but never sat down & checked it out. I will watch it this week then check out Maverick.
There was a collective "WHEW!!!" in the audience BOTH times I went!!.... that was some kind of vertical yaw maneuver, smh.... just outstanding and plausible! I've never saw that before 👀 This film had a lot to offer.
I was in the first Top Gun but my scene was cut, I was in the Coast Guard in San Diego and there was a scene of the Helicopter getting ready to pick up Tom and Goose that was cut that I was in. No lines but I’m the only black guy and was easy to spot 🤣
I'm more into science fiction but after watching this review, Imma check it out! Fyi, you are an amazing comedian, definitely one of the best too! Continue being blessed and being a blessing!
TOP GUN was a FANTASTIC movie! Front to finish ACTION‼️ I agree with the nostalgic feeling it gives you - just goes to show that GOOD movies can still be made without all the sex, drugs, and profanity. Perfect family movie! And Tom delivers on the emotion - tears, laughs, tough love, AND STUNTS, etc. He’s not a one trick pony! He’s a fantastic actor. PLUS, there’s something about the way this movie makes you proud to be an American (even though I’m pissed at America 90% of the time) 😅 Also, I know movies are good when you want to be IN THEM 😂 If you don’t think about being a fighter jet pilot right after this movie, you don’t have a soul 🤣🤣 Lastly, TOM CRUISE IS THE GOAT AMERICAN ACTION STAR. Don’t @ Me. The Mission Impossible Series, Top Gun, Jack Reacher, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, and all of the military movies Few Good Men, American Made, etc. Thanks for this review!
Ed Harris - “The Rock” Excellent military performance 👌🏾 Val Kilmer - “Tombstone” Top5 favorite movies ever because of him! 🙌🏾 Miles Teller - “Only the Brave” Hands down his BEST performance!!! 🫶🏾 Tom Cruise - “Far and Away” Loved his immigrant performance for a better life. 👍🏾 Jennifer Connelly - “Hulk” 2003 she’s great in it! 👍🏾
I want to pay homage to Iceman... that part truly hit me in the feels. Thank you Tom Cruise and thank you Val Kilmer for bringing back the intensity and emotion we felt as kids and bringing it home. I'm glad it wasn't one of those who "left the ending" for us to figure out.
Hangman (Glenn Powell) tried out for goose’s son. Didn’t get it. Tom still Wanted Glenn. He didn’t want hangman. Tom promised him they’d develop a great character for him that’s why his character is better. And Glen is super charming. I mean.. the smile come on.
Iron Eagle ups the cheese factor on Top Gun by an order of magnitude. Funny, they both came out in '86. IE came out before TG. In fact, I remember seeing a trailer for TG at the IE screening. I thought "weird we get two of these movies in close succession."
The love interest...... Watch the first movie how Goose and Maverick getting chewed after saving Cougar( the 1st 15 min of the movie) and Patty Benjamin name comes up(Admirals daughter)

SORRY NO CORNY SHIT, OR DICKHEAD ATTITUDES( HANGMAN, AND ICEMAN FROM THE 1ST MOVIE) EVERYONE WHO IS SELECTED TO TOP GUN IS HUMBLE, AND FEEL BLESSED BECAUSE YOUR C.O. SE;ECTED YOU TO ATTEND NSFWS!!!
I got a ride in a Air Force jet after I hoisted up a pilot that had to eject. I was in the Coast Guard and the pilot gave the crew a ride (can’t remember what jet it was 1988). That’s when I learned about the thing you said about the mask being off while talking is BS. Too loud to do that and that ride was unbelievable. I passed out a little. Thanks for representing, I was the only black guy on helicopters at my air station back then.
25:45 lol 😆 I love them moments don't tell me don't tell me then. I still don't get it but when I go take a boo boo I remember the stuff I was trying to remember. I don't care nothing bout no spoilers u Tony Baker.
Favorite Movies: Tom Cruise - Mission Impossible series Val Kilmer - Tombstone Ed Harris - The Rock I absolutely LOVED Top Gun: Maverick! Simply a great time!
Tony Tom pulled strings with the airforce to have the cast go to flight school training and the cockpit scenes are 100% real they are taking the g forces in the fighter jets and you saw that on their faces in real time.
So I started giggling when Jennifer Connelly first came on the screen because David Bowie was playing in the background. They both had done a movie called Labyrinth back in the 80s when she first started acting.
I disagree about Jennifer leaning on the car. She looked so cool. It was cheesy, but movie cheese. Like a painting of Americana at sunset. Different strokes for different folks.
Ed Harris - forgot about Milk Money, also liked him in The Abyss Tom Cruise - almost everything, but Interview with a Vampire is still a classic. they should sequel that Val kilmer - Tombstone
Tom is not taking the control of the "Rhinos" ( F/A-18 Super Hornets) those are specialized cameras that Tom and the producers initiated. I’m with Tony, I think they did a great job. It was all of the above cheese and all that but as Tony said, it worked. My biggest stipulation about the film was they didn’t explode the “Theme tune” the way they could’ve. That should’ve been a feature in itself with a modern production made for the cinema experience, they didn’t do that but that’s ok. Would’ve hit it right out of the park had they done it but they didn’t and the movie worked perfectly fine. I think 4.5 out of 5 is fair! I really enjoyed it.
I went to see this movie twice. I struggled to not go see it again. One of the best movies this decade
Yeah I want to see it again too. Might go back in to the cinema for it also. I enjoyed it, thought they did a very good job of this movie.
Same! Saw it twice in four days last week and started looking at movie times again tonight. G

This movie was excellent. I didn't even see the original. Still loved it.
I seen it yesterday and Tom Cruise himself was in the beginning talking about the movie and how they brought it to us. And he thanked the audience!!
Mine too
Yo Tom looked old, man. Understandable, since he's almost 60. I appreciated that vid tho. Was definitely worth every penny.
@@Timmy_T my same thoughts. We don't realize how much younger he looks with makeup and hair dye. He stays in good shape tho so that helps too
There is a video where Tom takes the actors through actual flight training. He also had multiple imax cameras in the cockpit to film their real reactions. This was fun to watch.
I seen that video
Top Gun was crazy good. Blew away my expectations. Everything just felt real, all the flying sequences has me clenched ALL the way up.
It was amazing. They actually flew the plans. They worked with the navy
It was 100 percent real
#TopGunMaverick does everything a great sequel should do:

- Identify what worked before and build upon it
- Change the stakes

Never saw the first Top gun movie. BUT LOVED this Top GUN. Went to see it mostly because of Jay Ellis. Suprisely loved it
Top Gun was one of the best sequels I a long time. It was a great way to return to the theaters v
Imma be real. I didnt expect to be close to tears while watching this movie

I need to hear Tony sing more 80's jams... Highway to the danger zone.. 😂😂😂😂
The movie was outstanding.

I love how this movie is so good you ain’t even have to watch the old movie to watch this! Absolutely amazing!
The shots with the actors are real. Tom actually flies. The others I believe were in a jet but usually behind a trained pilot, from what I think I remember about the film making
They used stunt doubles as well. There are interviews with one of the Naval stunt pilot/double.

😂 I can’t hear danger zone without thinking of Archer
I wasn’t ready to see Val Kilmer on the screen. Also, Jennifer Connolly on screen equals perfection.
I enjoyed this film!!! He loves practical effects!!! My favorite quote Tom said was " I really just want to entertain you" he means it! He works hard !
Tony is a human Siri of movie box office knowledge.
We would sing 'highway to the danger zone' when somebody was about to get a whoopin

Liked this movie and that one move the enemy jet did to avoid being hit was what sent me over the edge. Loved it
I responded out loud in the theatre a FEW times in this movie and that was the main one. Mind Blowing!!!
There was a collective "WHEW!!!" in the audience BOTH times I went!!.... that was some kind of vertical yaw maneuver, smh.... just outstanding and plausible! I've never saw that before 👀 This film had a lot to offer.
The flights were real. The actors were actually in F-18's with cameras inside the cockpit. None of it was cg, it was all real.

The biggest movie star of all time. Can't wait for Mission impossible 7
Actually this is Tom first movie to past 100 million the first weekend. Several actors have done that. As far as box office sales he’s 11th.
I’m with Tony, I think they did a great job. It was all of the above cheese and all that but as Tony said, it worked. My biggest stipulation about the film was they didn’t explode the “Theme tune” the way they could’ve.
