He is a long time Idol of Floor Jansen since she heared Henk sing in the dutch Phantom. Yes Floor is a fangirl 😜😁😍 She said to him that even though she now knows him personnaly, he will always be "THE" Henk Poort to her 😎🎶👍
what Henk does it's not belting, it's called distortion, and it's something that is frowned upon in the classical world, who try to keep heir voice very clean. Henk only did this a second time (first time, when he did the cover of Disturbed's version of "The Sound of Silence" for Floor), so yes, he does not have the extensive training, and probably he's not very gifted with that particular skill set. However, it still sounded fantastic it's really great to see Floor performing it so epic here, and let's hope the song will be back on the Nightwish menu (at least for Amsterdam it will be, since Floor agreed to perform thes with Henk as a guest for Nightwish)

Whoever told you this was done in a Nightwish style is crazy. This could not have been done more in the original musical theater style. Aside from Henk going to the growl (an obvious surprise to Floor), this was original Andrew Lloyd Webber all the way.

Info on the show: “Every one of those people on the couches were other Dutch vocalists. They took turns each week essentially serenading one of the other artists. Floor being from Nightwish, After Forever, Revamp, Ayreon, Star One, etc did amazing jobs. Great honest reaction. Anyway i think that what makes this special, is the fact tat Foor is not tryng to imitate a opera singer nontheless Tarja. Also henk is not tryng to imitate Marco nontheless to "outsing" Floor. Instad he decide to do what is best for the song, and play with floor and "incite her". Floor is magnificent but props to Henk, he really is a passionate professional. Both of them are in their own unique way.

He has learned this especially for Floor for sound of silence. Nightwish did not do this with Floor. Henk only wanted to sing this with Floor under 1 condition that if Nightwish would perform in the Netherlands he would be allowed to sing with Nightwish and Floor. Floor also gives 9 shows in the Dutch theaters and they will sing it there.

Floor asked Henk if he would do Phantom with her knowing that he has performed it on stage. He said he would only do it if she would let him do it with Nightwish when they come to the Netherlands which will be sometime in 2020. I am so sad....I live on the WAY other side of the pond to make that concert. It will be epic...such a wonderful version, not that Nightwish don't do a great version themselves.
That was only the 2nd time ever that Henk used distortion on his vocals. The other time was to honor Floor when he sang Sound of Silence for her on week 4 or 5? Floor has been blowing up in the Netherlands due to her performances on the show. She has scheduled 9 solo shows around the Netherlands for January. All 9 shows sold out in one day! Henk will be special guest on these shows to perform the Phantom with Floor. I wish I had a ticket. Also it is in the works for Henk to guest at the Nightwish show on November 20, 2020 at the Ziggo Dome. This show is now sold out over 1 year ahead of time. Floor is also going to perform at the Raskasta Joulua (Finnish for Heavy Christmas) tour in December. Things are going great for Floor and the boys. Also the new Nightwish CD is about to start the mixing process and expected out in early spring. The Decades DVD is about to drop in the US on Dec 6th. Great reaction! As far as I was aware, the main difference between the Nightwish version and the Andrew Lloyd Webber version was the musical accompaniment, and this is probably "neither". The lyrics and arrangement seem the same in both. Perhaps I'm under-exposed to the original Andrew Lloyd Webber version, but I'm VERY familiar with the Nightwish version sung by Tarja and Marco. The singing styles are not necessarily a match or either version. I just want to understand what it is about this rendition that classifies it more as the "Nightwish version" over Andrew Lloyd Webber's original version.
