when Hayama was first introduced, I thought I would really hate him because the popular guys are never written in a good light in most stories. As you progress through Oregairu, you can see he genuinely cares for people and has his fair share of issues with keeping up with the expectations of everyone. I hope he gets more spotlight in s3 as I really like his character, but seeing we're finally focusing on the love triangle, it doesn't seem like we will any time soon.
This might be pretty dissapointing, but hayama doesn't show up much in S3. The light novels barely include him and from what I've seen of the first three episodes, the anime keeps it pretty close to the ln books (though they did skip a good half of book 11)
Angus Nah, I kinda figured it would be the case. I wouldn’t say I am disappointed, but it would have been nice to see more of him. More than Hayama, I wish we got more screen for my boy Saika though. He barely got screen time in s2. I feel it’ll be even lesser in s3. Truly a shame to not give more screen for the best boy.

@Dhanushka Jayasinghe I completely understand the feeling. I rewatched the series like 5 times (over the years) and everytime I do, I find out something new because I tend to read "more" between the lines and pick up more context clues to interpret from
@Dhanushka Jayasinghe I'm currently learning japanese. I'm aware it will take some time to be fluent enough to read it but reading the original LN is one of my mini goals.
not really i mean i can read through the subtext easily , even in real pife when people talk and express themselfs i can always find the thought process behind there words
When I first watched Oregairu, I honestly did not like it. I realize now that it's because I never understood it-and perceived scenes merely for what they were on the surface-never bothering to search for that richly-muffled subtext. For that reason, I am grateful for your videos. It made me realize just how much I missed in a lot of great shows I've once overlooked. A lot of those which later became my personal favorites (e.g. Hyouka, Revue Starlight, Liz and the Blue Bird) So, I've decided to pick up this series again-not with the expectation of adding it to my list of favorites-but to try understanding it just a bit more than before.
@@Trickester1000 ive met a few hachi types. Its just often easy to have not noticed them till they've already moved past lonerhood. As what defines them being like hachiman is the development from one point to anouther you can just not be there to see it.
Like you said at the end, I interpreted Hayato's struggle with the expectations placed from the people around him to be a much more negative one. To me, it felt like he wasn't being his own person and that he was trapped in a cycle of constantly trying to live up to the people around him, never once making a genuine decision for himself. But your interpretation definitely made me see it in a much more hopeful light. Can't wait for the end of Season 3 to absolutely wreck me... Great work btw! :)
Honestly Hayato and Haruno are such underrated characters in this series. For being supporting characters they have a surprising amount of complexity to them and are excellent drivers/foils for the main trio. Thank you for this amazing video!
How does haruno knows everything that is happening in between the three and even the teacher. It seems bonkers and illogical while also making them cool.
Came back here after 2 years and DAMN i have missed this channel. Gives you such a deep sense of what it means to be human and really makes you reflect on yourself despite the videos just discussing anime.
I'm so happy I only recently discovered this anime and didn't wait 5 years for the next season to arrive because I was immediately hooked after season 1. I finished this anime literally yesterday. I have seen a lot of animes in my lifetime and hands down this series has become one of my favorite animes of all time. It's at least in my top 20 of favorite animes of all time. I thought it was so well done and I completely related with these characters. It's a masterpiece in my opinion.
Episode 1 = Hachiman and Komachi sad scenes and Kawasaki showing some emotions and "I love you" Episode 2 = Iroha starts the prom arc and Yui found something even I a Yukinon fan have teary eyes Episode 3 = Sensei ******* foreshadow Handsome Yukino in tailcoat and Yuigahama shining fabulously. Episode 4 = ?? This anime is packed with subtext that I who understand basic Japanese words could not keep up with all the time. Please do more episodes like this one. I'm ready to cry at the last episode of the anime, not because of a bad or good ending but because this anime holds a special place in my heart (along with food wars).
the character development in this anime is Freaking good, a perfect person in the surface had struggle deep inside, i mean everyone had their own struggle and Oregairu bring it out and display it like no other anime.... Credit to you in breaking down thus
Honestly I love your break down of series especially shows like Snafu or Hyouka which have far more subtext than a casual viewer might realize. Please keep up the amazing work of breaking down key scenes which define characters and anime as a whole.
When the first episode of season 3 came out, I ended up starting it w/o noticing it was a third season. As soon as I did, I went back and watched the first season, which was fun, but didn't really feel that special. OH BOY did that change in the second season! I watched it all in a single night an caught up to the third one, and all of that is pretty much thanks to the incredibly methodical buildup during the second season as well as the change in dynamic w/o affecting any character's essence. It was a beautiful thing to watch.
I'm so glad that you did an analysis on Hayato, he is such an underrated character or maybe underappreciated character. When i saw that scene he became my favourite character for a short while, because it finally hit me how much i can relate to both him as well as Hachiman, who unsurprisingly is my favourite character. It's also refreshing to see a more hopeful interpretation. Maybe because of my own struggles, it was hard to see it as anything other than negative for me, so i'm still not completely sold on your interpretation, but i'm hoping he will have more spotlight in s3 which would give more insight into it. Still, this video made me rethink my own interpretation and it was a pleasure to watch. I'm probably going to rewatch it again just to try and see other perspective better. Also, i'd love to see the 35 min version of the video, which you mentioned in one of the comments. Of course, you should stick to uploading videos that you yourself are satisfied with, but i just wanted to let you know that i don't mind the length as i'm sure many others would agree with that. Edit: I forgot to mention that your interpretation that Hayato actually likes Yukino really surprised me. For some reason, i had a hunch that he always liked Haruno and that Yukino's reaction was so serious because at one point she liked Hayato, but found out that he liked her big sister, which adds on to how she used to chase after her. Maybe a rewatch of the series might make it more clear for me, but him having a crush on yukino also makes a lot of sense.
I don't really understand hayato having an interest in anyone to peruse a relationship if I m being honest. To me he just doesn't seem like the character or person to pursue a relationship. Dammit I m generally so good at expressing things with detailed analysis and hidden meanings but this series has messed me up lol.
@@thunderbird7936 same, i mean i do think he will pursue relationship with someone, but hasn't found that person yet, and i seriously don't think he liked haruno, to me it was more he wanted to be forgiven by haruno, so he tried to slowly make uo with yukino for that, and seriously he never liked yukino too, he was in regret that he couldn't stand up for yukino, and soo him trying to sooth up things people interpret as liking.
Oh my gooby, thank you for this analysis. I love this series, but it's been years since I've paid attention to it. I forgot about everything in season 2 between episode 8 and the finale. Turns out I was missing a lot. Maybe I forgot because I didn't feel Hayama was an important character, but especially with season 3 out, I really needed this analysis. Even just Hikigaya and Hayama meeting at the vending machines in the new season's second episode has so much meaning, especially that way that Hayama runs after Hikigaya for just a second and then keeps his distance. Can never be impressed enough with this show's writing and voice performance. Thanks, man. 🙏
I always enjoy these analysis videos, especially on series that I really enjoy. All the social ques mixed in with themes that all stem from high school over complicates mild problems are just enjoyable for me.
I would love to see an analysis of the last episode of season 2 and a thematic dissection of what season 3 brings once that's over. OreGairu is one of the best animes I've ever watched!
There is a crucial discussion left out of the anime that I believe gives Hachiman's real motivation for bothering Hayama during the marathon. Yukino said in the light novel there were two positions in the Hayama/Yukinoshita business partnership needing filling, a medical one on Hayama's side where mother has a clinic, and a legal one on the Yukinoshita side where currently Hayama's father is their corporate lawyer. But Yukino doesn't know which of those two Hayama or her are intended to fill, assuming that is parent's plan. Lack of proper communication between parent, mom who wears the pants in the family even though to outsiders the dad is the head of construction business and Diet representative, and child Yukino is implied in multiple places. Hayama as you said is hoping Yukino will seek him out for answer since she has been hostile to him for years over that thing similar to Rumi's situation that happened in their childhood where Hayama couldn't or wouldn't help. But Hachiman making a bridge to get an answer for Yumiko also helps Yukino; later in infirmary scene Hachiman directly asks Yukino what her career path will be... she says liberal arts, a change from her direction of following Haruno earlier in the series, even though Hayama indirectly admits he's going that way too. The reason for Yukino's choice has nothing to do with being lawyer, it is actually shown in volume 1, where Yukino's answer to a survey is shown. She said she wishes to do her father's work, that which everyone assumes Haruno will do as she is heir and face of family at functions. Much more on that subject is part of Season 3.
I have to say, as someone who is at the very center of Oregairu fandom and being able to listen to the opinions of countless people, your positive interpretation of the Hayama Hayato character was certainly refreshing. He is generally seen in a very negative light by the fandom because of his so called status as a "romantic rival" to Hikigaya, but also his negative actions during the Kyoto trip arc. Moreover, he gets even more undeserved negative reception for his actions which we are going to see during the rest of the story. It is good to see that at least one person is able to see past the protagonist's point of view, and realize that even Hayama Hayato is just a seventeen year old teenager who is burdened by all the expectations piled upon him. One criticism though, I would advise using fansubs instead of the official ones especially when analysing the Season 2 content of Oregairu. Official subtitles are severely lacking in some scenes, and they fail to convey the true meaning in some scenes causing misunderstandings. Most iconic example of this would be the last scene between Hikigaya and Yukinoshita during the last minutes of the Season 2 Episode 7. The fact that official subtitles fail to convey Yukinoshita (unknowingly) using the exact same words Hikigaya did when he was talking with Hayama a few episodes earlier almost completely removes the impact of the scene.
@@madiska2702 Official subs: If you were to break down, that'd be all there was to it. Fansubs: If this is all it takes to tear us apart, then maybe we weren't all that close to begin with. (which are almost identical to the words Hikigaya uttered to Hayama during episode 2...)
Tight video man, nicely done. I read the light novels, but honestly I never managed to precisely put my finger on Hayama, despite the fact that I had a rought idea about what his deal is. After watching this I feel like it all finally clicked, it's impressive that you mangaged to pick up on all that just by watching the anime. GG
While watching Oregairu, I understood everything Hachiman proposed..Didn’t really relate to it, but that was the beauty of this show for me..Hands down the best MC ever for me
Another great video and analysis of Oregairu character, really loves your work a lot ! Can't wait to watch you talking about some S3 scenes (especially the one of the 2nd episode with Yui non-genuine scene)
"I knew we never could've been friends." I'm almost certain is a call back to season one during the summer camp arc. Though I watched the dub so idk if the wording was changed during that episode.
5:27 This scene does not suggest any person in the language at all, so there is no certain someone for Hayato. I think the English-sub is hugely inaccurate. 2:14 I imagine there is another reason Hayato refuses the rumor with seriousness. Remember the summer camp in season 1, there are scenes that suggest Yukino is a loner in elementary school and Hayato regrets not doing anything to help at the time. This time Hayato takes action to protect Yukino and Yukino thanks him for that.
With regards to 5:27, Japanese tends to omit the subject entirely and simply imply it, which is impossible to do in English. It's not that translation is wrong, but "someone" is more like referring to a broad 誰か than あの人. Replay Value got the meaning wrong, but the subs themselves aren't inaccurate.
@@NHDOreBros Yes, I agree with 誰か is omitted. In my understanding, "certain" someone (in the sub) should refer to the one and only character that both speaker and listeners know the exact identity.
I really enjoy your videos on Oregairu and this one is no exception. Thanks for another awesome video! A question for you and anyone else commenting: aside from making and/or watching videos like these, do you have any other avenues where you make or join discussions about anime you're watching? I've met a lot of anime-lovers over the years, especially nowadays as anime has grown in popularity. But I have yet to meet anyone that enjoys the small intricacies in voice acting, animation style, plot devices and so forth that make anime like Oregairu something truly special.
the problem with Hayato is that he doesn't want to risk his relationships to solve problems but in order to seek the genuine thing you have to take risks even if it hurts down the line. That's why he envies Hachiman cause Hachiman seeks the genuine thing and is doing whatever he can to seek it.
I always feel something between him and hachiman like a friendship that never show.. like they know each other the most (like but hate / hate but like) because they always have a deep talk
Damn here I was thinking Hayato's "Y" was referring to Yukinoshita Haruno, and how he was frustrated that she was never interested in him because she views his ability to be able to handle every situation thrown at him perfectly as something boring and predictable. Literally just rewatched the whole series before starting S3 and still missing stuff I guess. Also Saki now confirmed best girl after S3s cafe scene don't @ me or I will rain down unto you the fury of a thousand suns.
I thought that also, it was like a general lecture that lot of people do, but this reading is as valid I guess? In the other hand, YES!!, Saki is pretty much best girl, top notch waifu material, bad she does not get so much screen-time, maybe more in this season, and yes that cafe scene is the cutest.
I also re-binged all of OreGairu cuz i did not remember how S2 left off, and i would say i got some of the subtexts and everything. Also yes! Saki is just total wife material. Especially when she got flustered when Hachiman ran by her during the Cultural festival stuff.
Not really, “Y” is Haruno. By the memos/monologues and interactions within the Ln it becomes painfully clear. Hayato just wants to rekindle or patch things up with Yukino in an attempt to re-build his relationship with Haruno, remember when Yukino asked to Haruno when she advice Yukino to figure that out by herself she also said direct quote from the Ln (Sugarcoated in the Anime) “Don’t know because I never asked because I never care and was never interested to begin with” plus there’s a plethora of subtext that backs up the idea of “Y” being Haruno. All in all I agree that SakiSaki/Saa-Chan is waifu, sadly does not have too much time in the spotlight but that is because the Anime she has plenty moments with 8man in the source material that’s why the fans adore her she is a cool beauty with a heart of gold and sweet. S-Tier Waifu!
@@justsomerandomguyscott9848 more reason for me to check out the source material after watching the anime, not right away, but I do have to experience the full material one day.
@@justsomerandomguyscott9848 Nonsense, there are no romantic feelings by Hayama for Haruno. Throughout the whole story Hayama has been fixated on Yukino and worried about her. He tells Hachiman of his jealousy several times regarding his closeness with Yukino. There is coming scene near end of S3 that proves Yukino was Hayama's "Y" and that he loses her to Hachiman.
Season one was good... we didnt had to think much about any character then came season 2 which relied mostly on susbtext and gave so much more depth to characters especially Hayama who was just a hunk character in season 1
@@ReplayValue This idea about finding something ''genuine'' is turning out to be false. The series is about Hachiman finding peer acceptance (and female peer acceptance in particular). Positive change for Hikigaya is out of his hands. It is in the hands of his harem girls. So the show is a complete bust in the end.
@@citycrusher9308 Are you sure you understood the series? For example Iroha, and Hayato have genuine interactions with Hachiman. It would seem Hachiman gets into these interactions per the fact he acts in accordance with his honest, genuine beliefs. If anything, if it weren't for Hachiman we probably could not see the depth of these characters, which would easily make this into a Harem type anime. Hachiman is a main character that first misjudges people around him, only to find wonderful people beside him.
@@bluewings4480 Yes. I understand the series. The girls reject Hikigaya - he becomes a loner. The girls accept Hikigaya - he has friends now. hikigaya doesn't change at all in the series. His situation does.
It's really hard when you only use English as a secondary language and you try to read the subtitles while trying to understand the subtext of this anime. lol
And then funsubs in your natvie language are made by someone with even worse understending of english than you, so it's better to just watch it with english subs.
@@theChihiro07 Yeah, even little bit of knowlage about japanese society helps with understending. Though I think that anime encapsulates novel really well, and the things omited in adaptation, aren't that necessary to understenad what's going on
Aight after watching the video... I just realized that there was really one thing I missed from the material: the nuance between picking Sciences or Humanities. I just realized that if Hayato picks Sciences means that less people will be with jim and if he picks Humanities then otherwise happens. Kinda makes me frustrated not realizing this single detail. Edit: I'll also add this but I concluded that most or at least half of the reason why Hayato chose this decision of "answering everybody's expectation" is because of Haruno. We knew from the Anime that Hayato loves Haruno and it fits especially when knowing that Haruno also chose the same path. Just as Hayato, Haruno constantly puts on a mask to answer everyone's expectation. She becomes her family's golden child and answers their and everybody else's expectations about her. So, knowing that, Hayato chose to experience what Haruno experiences prove himself worthy of her. Honestly, this quality of his is really similar to Hachiman. They both get their decisions really influenced by their love. The scene on S1 where Hachiman was about to bash Sagami on the roof illustrates this. The scene where he monologues 'Yukinoshita did things her way. I will also continue so with my way'(paraphrased/forgot) illustrates it. (But, well, his thinking and Yukinoshita's thinking were still immature back then however that scene along with his contemplation when he realized he was idolizing her was just some romantic tidbits I love. )
Ah finally someone made a good analysis of my boi Hayato, he deserves the spotlight as much as Hachiman because he has it tougher than him in a way because of his social standing and family. I'm also really happy that you talked about Yumiko here because she IS REALLY important in the Genuine subject of Oregairu. It would be nice if you could make a video focused on her but you would have to talk about cut LN moments that were really important to motivate Hachiman. Like after the marathon, there was the second magnificent scene of Yumiko showing how she is one of the most genuine character of the show. I made a diaporama analysis about her: show.zohopublic.eu/publish/4ffcx1265eb4cff644a80aad0a39ac07288ff Maybe if you feel like making another character analysis ! Keep up the quality work
Ignoring the grammar mistakes, this was some solid analysis. It was nice to read the LN quotes, especially ones cut from the anime. Having them all together made it easy to comprehend the aspects of her character, and the role she play's in the story, in the school, within her own friendship group. Even people who hate her character would have an improved impression after reading this. I didn't know that she was such a key inspiration or motivator for Hachiman to seek change for himself, to take the risk of finding something genuine. it takes effort to gather all the quotes and screencaps, then type out the analysis. Keep up the quality work
@@treesaregreen Thank you for taking the time to read me (I'm french, even being bilingual I can't avoid grammar mistakes here and there haha). I'll spread the Yumiko Cult!
Same, and most for hayama, like literally no one tried to understand him too, breaking those chains is way more difficult, i hope he gets someone with whom he can be genuine too
please make a video about episode 13 of season 2 (finale) that would be really great so people can remember where the anime left off 5 years ago and understand it more! :)
Please open the can of worms that haruno is because I can't understand her for the life of me and nobody here minds the time limit , it can even be a 50 minutes video if you want.
Ik there's probably no good way to do this but its hard to listen to your videos with only audio (like listening to them while on a drive or the like) since a lot of the resources you call back on are only stated on the clip themselves (sub) and not restated or paraphrased so if you are only listening you miss out on a lot .
Does someone know *when* does the Ova from season 2 actually happens? (where Iroha asks Hachiman for a date) I initially thought it was briefly after Zoku's ep 13, but seeing what has happened so far in season 3, I don't see that being possible so.... when does that happen then?
In my thoughts, the one that Hayama is in love is Haruno, because almost all of the talks involve Yukino and Haruno as you can see in the episode 3 when they meet Orimoto at the restaurant with Haruno, he said that Haruno always messes up with the people she likes but destroys the one she hates but he can be useful they keep interacting with him and also because of family matters
This is a bit off topic but there's no one I hate in this anime more than Yukino's sister. For starters as an adult, she's way too invested in the private and intimate relationships of literal high schoolers. She offers nothing of value for most of the series and is only there to create further confusion, tension and doubts in these youngsters minds, why? God knows. I get siblings like to tease each other and whatnot, but her bullying of Yukino is unbearable to watch - its so much in volume, it edges on deep and unjustified hatred towards a younger sibling, it's ugly. I dont remember all details if it were mentioned or not, but idk if its jealousy or some sick twisted way of her looking out for her sister, its very hard to watch. This is all before the fact that she constantly puts on a facade, the one that Hachiman exposes in literally their first meeting. Unbearable character. Idk if i should congratulate or cuss the authors.
Back in season 1 or 2 (don’t remember) hayama said the person he liked had the letter “y” as their first initial in their name its yumeko right or Yui or yukino? I want to know!

I wonder when they started liking each other... Was it the evening after the Marathon? I know these are just the small details in the cryptic novel.. but idk why it keeps bugging me.. Uh!
Wait, The legendary "Y" confession isnt Yukonoshita Haruno but Yukino itself? Then why was Hayato referring to 8man that "she is intrigued by you" at season 1 and why did he follow Haruno's orders without even knowing the details? To me his scene of bringing 8man to a higher pedestal against his past schoolmates , was an attempt to not only to self gratify but to be noticed by Haruno even for once.
Nori it is Haruno, to be fair, Replay is giving a valid interpretation banking on the subtext within those scenes but he also pointed out that he is not evaluating the Ln but the Anime. The things you mentioned and the conclusion thors “Y” being Haruno is more accurate or heavily implied in the memos & monologues within the source material so yes, is mainly accepted that Haruno is the one Hayato is talking about
is the subtext this rich because the adaption does not include what is already discussed and explained in the novel? Or is it just the way this was intended to be? a lot of viewers blame feel studio for not including the "genuine thing" definition as if it was (im not sure) given in the novel. also a lot of people are angry that yukino's scenes in season 3 are cut and even calling Yui 'bitch'. I mean as a Yui ship i enjoy the anime a lot, sand i cant say just because its not a ink paper copy paste adaption therefor its bad.
In the future, taking Liberal Arts means that Hayato will become PM of Japan, and although no evidence exists to support, it would not be unreasonable to think that the two familys, the Hayama's and the Yukinoshita's want to pair Hayato and Yukino. Why does Yukino want Hachiman to save her? from what?
@@jonaszklimala The youngest child in a family usually gets all the love. There is even a famous story about this in Joseph and the coat of many colors. Your second point is spot-on. Yukino and Hachiman have some similar character traits and would have the best chance of understanding each other. Hayato could never understand Yukino. She would always just be a trophy wife to help further his political career. Yukino clearly sees this about Hayato.
@@folcwinep.pywackett8517 But in this particular situation, all of her parents attenion is focused on Haruno inheriting his father position. Everythink that's left for Yukino is some kind of "political marriage", probably with Hayato like you mentioned.

I just had my first break up, and watching stuff even remotely close to ntr burns my stomach very badly. Pls, reply, people who saw the whole show.
Sure, Hayame Hayato meets everyone's expectations, but can he meet his own expectations? After watching this video I'm assured now that Hayato has a thing for Yukinon. I think he had an expectation of himself to try and save her way before 8man entered the picture and he ends up envying and h8ting 8man because of that. I wish i knew more of the Hayato x Yukinon dynamic in middle school but I have a guess. Basically, their friendship started way before middle school, and the interactions with other girls and Hayato probably clashed with the friendship of Yukinon and Hayato. Yukinon probably learned later that it's best to stop being friends with Hayato, at least, not interacting with him during school hours. The time Hayato developed the "Everyone's Hayato" facade was probably the same time Yukinon developed her complex as well. Will Hayato let 8man win this season or will he try to shed the "Everyone's Hayato" mentality that holds him back? Tbh, I want 8man with Yukinon, but I wouldn't really mind Yukinon with Hayato if he changes.

This 3rd season is being so freaking good omg

I'm so excited
Why so freaking good
Can you explain
@@AscenderGrey66 have you watched the episodes so far?
@@kazuyaichijou4623 yep
But i guess i am missing something
Kindly help me
When I first watched Oregairu, I honestly did not like it. Hyouka, Revue Starlight, Liz and the Blue Bird)
So, I've decided to pick up this series again-not with the expectation of adding it to my list of favorites-but to try understanding it just a bit more than before.
this anime taught me so much about fake ass people and real people. people who really do care. such a great series.
@yo pierrehe's an entertaining person, i have met people like hayato in my life and extremely rarely seen people like hachi.
pierre indeed
Man your suppose to learn that on your own, especially in your teens,
@@Trickester1000 ive met a few hachi types.
It's not an interpretation if it's obviously spelled out.
He is a sheep who acts as a bellwether for other sheep.
Episode 1 = Hachiman and Komachi sad scenes and Kawasaki showing some emotions and "I love you"
Episode 2 = Iroha starts the prom arc and Yui found something even I a Yukinon fan have teary eyes
Episode 3 = Sensei ******* foreshadow Handsome Yukino in tailcoat and Yuigahama shining fabulously.
Anime Yahallo Studio in the sneak peak ,it shows yukino, haruno and their mother
I ll cry at the end of the anime because I wouldn't be able to understand deeply enough and have the time to search for theories lmao.
Episode 4 equals fucking pain
the character development in this anime is Freaking good, a perfect person in the surface had struggle deep inside, i mean everyone had their own struggle and Oregairu bring it out and display it like no other anime....
@@thunderbird7936 I'm so late 😭
ty for the en subtitles, really apreciate that cause i can understand a bit more, thanks bro
I always enjoy these analysis videos, especially on series that I really enjoy. All the social ques mixed in with themes that all stem from high school over complicates mild problems are just enjoyable for me.
The way i'm getting from Hayato throughout the entire anime was that he is a people pleaser.
I would love to see an analysis of the last episode of season 2 and a thematic dissection of what season 3 brings once that's over. OreGairu is one of the best animes I've ever watched!
It's genius. Thank for this video
Fantastic as always!
By official subs lacking in episode 7 .can u say specifically what it was lacking? Because Idk if i watched fan sub or official
@@madiska2702 Official subs: If you were to break down, that'd be all there was to it.
Fansubs: If this is all it takes to tear us apart, then maybe we weren't all that close to begin with. (which are almost identical to the words Hikigaya uttered to Hayama during episode 2...)
@@williambillhuggins7690 i see i watched the official then thanks
Season 3 subs from Crunchyroll are shit
The subtext is absolutely crazy, the ending is going to be crazy.

Whatever they might be, other people's thoughts are irrelevant.
GG
thanks for confirming my thoughts about hayama. i felt it since the beginning
Now that the series is finally over, I can't wait to see your new analysis videos!
While watching Oregairu, I understood everything Hachiman proposed..Didn’t really relate to it, but that was the beauty of this show for me..Hands down the best MC ever for me
Oregairu is a masterpiece
he cares too much of people, Hayato cares so much of people that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone and settles for half measures
I hope you do more Oregairu videos now that season 3 is over!
Another great video and analysis of Oregairu character, really loves your work a lot !
Can't wait to watch you talking about some S3 scenes (especially the one of the 2nd episode with Yui non-genuine scene)
Honestly, oregairu has more plot planning than any other series
Great to see you back man, hope your enjoying season 3 so far.
"I knew we never could've been friends." I'm almost certain is a call back to season one during the summer camp arc. Though I watched the dub so idk if the wording was changed during that episode.
I got to the video before the post notification
Man all i can say is that OREGAIRU is a masterpiece this lightnovel/manga/anime has a GENUINE place in my heart! ♥️
Here since 2018, I'm angry you're not 1m yet
So insightful! Perfect to post know that season 3 is out too :^)
man do i love your videos
If you read every title of every episode in order it tells you something
Amazing way to analize every sigle story.
Im really exited about this 3rd season and what comes with it
I always feel something between him and hachiman like a friendship that never show.. like they know each other the most (like but hate / hate but like)
because they always have a deep talk
The Sangatsu no Lion OST in the background 😍
Season one was good... we didnt had to think much about any character
then came season 2 which relied mostly on susbtext and gave so much more depth to characters especially Hayama who was just a hunk character in season 1
Thank you, I never understood why Hayato tought of himself as loosing to hachiman until now, that explains a lot
YEEEEES MORE OREGAIRU + PERSONA MUSIC
it's basically my calling card at this point ;)

It's really hard when you only use English as a secondary language and you try to read the subtitles while trying to understand the subtext of this anime. lol
And then funsubs in your natvie language are made by someone with even worse understending of english than you, so it's better to just watch it with english subs.
Yeah, to understand this anime better, i think u should also consider light novel as base story and also learn a little bit how japanese word work
@@theChihiro07 Yeah, even little bit of knowlage about japanese society helps with understending. Though I think that anime encapsulates novel really well, and the things omited in adaptation, aren't that necessary to understenad what's going on

It's alright I'm completely fluent in english and the explanations aren't 100% clear to me quite yet but that might just be me being dumb.
Great analysis, you've given me closure on Hayato that Season 3 failed to 😅
Uh, i love this.
I love ur videos
Please make more videos about oregairu there are so many things I didn't get.
Edit:
I'll also add this but I concluded that most or at least half of the reason why Hayato chose this decision of "answering everybody's expectation" is because of Haruno.

Ik there's probably no good way to do this but its hard to listen to your videos with only audio (like listening to them while on a drive or the like) since a lot of the resources you call back on are only stated on the clip themselves (sub) and not restated or paraphrased so if you are only listening you miss out on a lot .

Yes
Is yukino liked hayato? I heard somewhere that there is love triangle between those sisters and hayato
Haruno

I wonder when they started liking each other... Was it the evening after the Marathon?
I know these are just the small details in the cryptic novel.. but idk why it keeps bugging me.. Uh!
Wait so Hayato like Yukino?
Wait so who does he end up with
I don't understand what does haruno want from hikigaya?
The things you mentioned and the conclusion thors “Y” being Haruno is more accurate or heavily implied in the memos & monologues within the source material so yes, is mainly accepted that Haruno is the one Hayato is talking about
@@justsomerandomguyscott9848 oh thank you it is my bad I got very confused on what he said thanks for clearing it up.
How good are the story and plot?? I haven't watched this show yet.
Is yukino liked hayato?
is the subtext this rich because the adaption does not include what is already discussed and explained in the novel?
Why does Yukino want Hachiman to save her? from what?
From being the second child, that no one cares about. From living in a world without somenone who can really understand you.
@@jonaszklimala The youngest child in a family usually gets all the love. There is even a famous story about this in Joseph and the coat of many colors. Your second point is spot-on. Anyone thinking of getting that 177013 shirt?
Did the budget drop this season ? They kinda looking like card board cut outs with a realistic background
I felt the same in the first two but the third chapter was an improvement.

Pls tell me.. does yukino's mom keep forcing her to marry hayama? (as i heard on internet). Its fine if she simply just wants her to be with hayama, or simply thinks of an arranged marriage without forcing it on her; but not shit like forcing her go on a date or a prom with him/ forcing her sto be alone in a room/ making her go to amusement park or movie with him/ making them watch firecracker alone/ forcing their marriage and shit.
