Thanks for that info. I did it his way in the video and it didn't work, then tried yours and it worked for me! It saved me a trip to the mechanic since I already did oil changes and filter changes, just needed to get rid of that freakin light! lol
Beaudoin Motorsports worked for my 2014! Thanks! I always considered my taco old! Also thanks Chris just did my first oil change. Messy but my bad choice in oil container
Thank you so much for this! All the other guides were missing the crucial step of being in total milage and holding the button while touring off and back on. Got my like save sub, even 8 years later.
Got the guys at Valvoline to turn off "maintenance required" light at the oil change about 6 months ago. Not sure it was on at the one I got about six weeks ago. Just noticed in a couple of weeks ago. Needed this reminder of what to do exactly to make that light go off. Thank you to you and UA-cam.
As always, I appreciate your videos so much. I looked at the description and reset the light faster than I could type this comment. You are a gem, thanks for your contribution to everyone and allowing people with no skills to get stuff done, themselves! Earn everything, you’ve earned it all.
Very good info to have. Thank you! And what's kinda trippy is that at the instant you switch the key off you will feel the odometer button click just a teeny-tiny bit farther down.. like maybe 1/32 of an inch.. which is probably the feel of it sneaking into that secret little zone that kills the light. Man, who invents this stuff??
I want to see more videos of simple stuff like this because you make it so easy. Other people make videos like this and it takes them 3 minutes to explain what you did in one minute. They also make it confusing sometimes. Awesome work ChrisFix If I was sitting in my car and wanted to shut off my service light, this video would be my go-to video because of how fast and easy it was!
Chris Thanks a lot man! I will try to make some more videos like this when possible. Editing a video of this length is a lot more fun than the longer ones haha
I got my oil changed 2 weeks ago and didn't know how to reset the maintenance required light until now! I'm setting in my car and watched your video and now my light is off! Thanks Dude!
Thanks for the video. This technique works for most cars regardless of their make and model, but I need to add that it does not necessarily go off when you need an oil change. It can go off for a variety of reasons.
gotta say that this is one of the most counter-intuitive procedures ever, and (at least for me) hard to remember, I wrote it down in my car log maintenance book for future reference! Thanks for posting
2003 Camry. Thanks so much for making this video & sharing your knowledge. In particular, you did a very professional job on the video itself with the close-ups and extreme closeups. Most content creators would just poke their head inside & catch a few seconds here and there and call it a wrap!
Christ, fix, have no idea how many thousands of dollars his subscribers had saved thanks to his videos I'm not a mechanic And no experience whatsoever yet thanks to him I have done this jobs to my cars. Serpentine belt Brakes Spark plugs Water pump Radiator Alternator Full tune up Control arms Thank you so much christ keep up the good work 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for your help. I was able to reset the odometer. God bless u. May the Lord God bless u beyond your comprehension. He said in His word that He will bless those who bless me🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
you know what, concise, precise, to the point, Thanks M8!, why I think everybody should learn a thin or two from you. save me a ton of money @the dealer.
I have enjoyed watching and learning from your videos ever since I first stumbled across you on UA-cam several years ago. Excited about resetting the maintenance reset light that comes on yearly and I tried it and didn't work . so of course I read through it, went to trip A button and again it didn't work. Being a consistent chrisfix fan I figured let's just keep trying. I then tried via totally engaging the clutch while moving on to position A; again nothing. Then back to total mileage position .Each position waiting a full 60 seconds. Amazingly it reset! THANK YOU Chris!
On the 2018 Toyota Sienna .. I put it on trip A ... then held trip button down and turned key to on position while holding the trip button until the 5 dashes went away and light went out.
Chris, do you know if the Maint Reqd light comes on after a set amount of miles? Or is it like an oil life monitor and it comes on when it senses that you really need an oil change? Thanks!
Another great video man. Not sure if the Tacoma did it, but when I do this on my dad's 06 Tundra after an oil change, the odometer will show a series of dashes "counting down" eventually turning into all zeros, followed by them turning back to the mileage. Just thought it might be worth a mention so people like me don't think they just completely reset their odometer... like I did. Lol.
Nice vid Chrisfix I fixed the maintenance required error in my moms Camry. I wanted to ask you how is it like to be a marine biologist? I am 17 and I still do not know what I want to do.
Jordy Contre Awesome Jordy! I am glad the video was helpful and you got the light to shut off! My advice is to do what you have a passion for. If you like fish and the ocean, give marine science a try. One thing you dont realize at 17 is that you will be working the rest of your life. Even if you are making a ton of money, you will be working. I rather work a job where I make good enough money but really love the job than make a killing but hate my job. Hope that helps!
Chris, Some of the newer toyota truck transmissions don't have dip sticks. The one shown here may have one of the newer transmissions. Can you do a video showing how to check the fluid level on those transmissions? Great videos btw.
crisr3 Thanks man! I will look into it. Sometimes you cannot check the transmission fluid level on sealed transmissions (which is unfortunate). But I will do some research!
I had a code for random misfire is cylinder 1 and 3 so I put new spark plugs in but the light is still on do I need to reset it or is the problem not fixed
Similarly, I have a ScanGaugeII which I can turn "Check Engine" lights off with - Sometimes. It doesn't always work like when I needed new fuel injectors for a 2000 Caravan, but I did reset the light in my Suburban with it.
Important stuff if you change your own oil...it's also important to know if you see the light is still on after someone else changes the oil (some mechanics forget to reset it) so you can have them correct their error, or reset it yourself if you'd rather. Thanks Chris!
i looked this up and i did not expect it to be a chrisfix video
NEW CARS RESET ON TRIP A! -Toyota Technician
+The Technician next door Thanks!
Thanks for that info. I did it his way in the video and it didn't work, then tried yours and it worked for me! It saved me a trip to the mechanic since I already did oil changes and filter changes, just needed to get rid of that freakin light! lol
Thanks!!
THANK YOU!!!
Beaudoin Motorsports worked for my 2014! Thanks! I always considered my taco old! Also thanks Chris just did my first oil change. Messy but my bad choice in oil container
In my 2009 Corolla I had to set it to Trip A, not the odometer, to get this technique to work. Otherwise, the steps are spot on.
This helped with my 2010 corolla
Thank you so much for this! All the other guides were missing the crucial step of being in total milage and holding the button while touring off and back on.
Got my like save sub, even 8 years later.
Welcome aboard and I'm glad you were able to do this properly!

I have an older 2010 Toyota and had to select "Trip A" on the odometer rather than the mileage setting. But other than that, worked perfect.
I was messing with mine for 5 tries, and read your comment then switched it to “Trip A” as well. After that it reset it! I have a 2011 Corolla.
Me toooooo!!! Thanks for this
Same! Thank you!
Same for a 2016 4 runner… thanks!
Same here. Thanks。
Very good info to have. Thank you! They think of everything these days haha

Always the go to online mechanic. Best car mechanic videos on the tube
Thanks!

I come back to this video every couple of months thank you!
gotta say that this is one of the most counter-intuitive procedures ever, and (at least for me) hard to remember, I wrote it down in my car log maintenance book for future reference! Thanks for posting
I guess they really don't want you to reset by accident or something haha, thanks!
@@chrisfix bought a cream puff 2010 Rav 4 with 90,000 miles on it, tremendous vehicle, will do a lot of the maintenance
Chris you’re a real car guru. This was a big problem solver tho for 2007 Rav-4 you need to set odometer to Trip A.
Sooo thankful for this comment! Totally WORKED!
I watched multiple videos, it didn't work for me!! This is the easiest way to turn off maintenance required light!! Thanks!
2003 Camry. Thanks so much for making this video & sharing your knowledge. In particular, you did a very professional job on the video itself with the close-ups and extreme closeups. Most content creators would just poke their head inside & catch a few seconds here and there and call it a wrap!
Been watching this channel for years. Always straight to the point and clear. Thanks!
You are a legend! Maintenance required light was giving me anxiety. All
Gone now 🙏
Thank you. I got my oil changed and they didn't reset the oil maintenance light. So this helped me do it without having to take my car back.
worked just as shown on my 05 Toyota RAV4 ! thank you sooo much! Just saved me some stress and an embarrassing trip to the mechanic!!!
This worked on my 2010 Toyota Corolla only when I pressed the button when the trip mileage was up, not the total mileage. Thanks for the visuals!
I like how you explain the steps so well. I looked up another video and they didn't explain it well.
Christ, fix, have no idea how many thousands of dollars his subscribers had saved thanks to his videos
I'm not a mechanic
And no experience whatsoever yet thanks to him I have done this jobs to my cars.
Serpentine belt
Brakes
Spark plugs
Water pump

Full tune up

Thank you so much christ keep up the good work 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome! And I'm sure it's in the millions at this point! Thanks a lot!
Thank you for your help. I was able to reset the odometer. God bless u. May the Lord God bless u beyond your comprehension. He said in His word that He will bless those who bless me🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thanks!
07 FJ works, thank you bro
Straight to the point - love it - thank you brother!
Thanks a lot!
you know what, concise, precise, to the point, Thanks M8!, why I think everybody should learn a thin or two from you. save me a ton of money @the dealer.
Thank you for being brief and to the point. Easy tutorial!
This didn’t work on my 2008 Camry, but thanks for making the video anyways Chris.
Yea! Finally! This guy knows what he is talking about and this procedure works. 2005 Camry
Great video! On my 2009 Camry I4 I had to have the odometer to TRIP A rather than total miles.
is the maintenance required light only for oil change?
I just got my oil changed and it's still on. How e you found out anything since
THE ONLY VIDEO THAT WORKED. THANK YOU!!!!! ❤
Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for making this 1 minute long!!
this was the easiest way so far there's another one where you have to press the button several times in both starting positions, I like this one
+David Garcia Thanks!
Hi Chris, I have a 2007 Yaris and in this case odometer has to be in A Trip position in order to work, nice video, thanks!!
Thank you! This worked for my 2011 Toyota RAV4
Thank you for the vid. My 2013 Tacoma had to be on trip a but works exactly the same. Thanks again.
Thanks for commenting that. I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t resetting, but it worked when I put in on trip a.
Thanx man. Taking your advice I used the "Trip" odometer on my 2012 Tacoma and it cleared.
Worked perfectly on my 2009 Toyota Sienna
Chris...once again thanks. Your video on shift lever alignment worked out great and now I don't have to guess which gear I'm in anymore
otherstuffbybob AWESOME! I am glad the video was helpful! It is great reading comments like this so thanks!
Will this also work to turn off the Check Engine and Trac Off lights?

Thanks. Finally I followed instructions that worked just fine!
On the 2018 Toyota Sienna .. I put it on trip A ... then held trip button down and turned key to on position while holding the trip button until the 5 dashes went away and light went out.
I am grateful and appreciated this.
YOU MY FRIEND JUST SAVED ME A TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP! 🙌🏽
Worked for me 2006 Camry 😊. Those other methods with foot on gas pedal etc…didn’t but as always Chris Fix it did the job 👍🏽
Thanks Chris. Thought this was the check engine at 1st. Easy fix. 👍👍
I'm glad you were able to fix it!
Thanks man, you saved me from a pointless trip to my mechanic
So first we have to change oil right?
CHRIS FIX IS THE SHIT !!!
Will it also turn off the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark in it too??
Ty ty ty
Easy breezy worked perfect
Chris, do you know if the Maint Reqd light comes on after a set amount of miles? Or is it like an oil life monitor and it comes on when it senses that you really need an oil change? Thanks!
+Fruit Dance It goes off of mileage, rpm, age, engine load, etc!
+ChrisFix you the best! Keep up the great videos!
Used this on my 2004 Toyota camry. Worked like a charm!
You the man chrisfix

TheFellowMarcelo Thanks a lot man! The Tacoma doesnt do that but thanks for the info! I am sure others will find it useful!
thanks for the tip!! I was so scared of resetting my odometer when I looked up these tutorials
Thanks. Had to set it to Trip A for my 2010 highlander
You the best yes omg I have tried to turn it off for centuries lol even when I change my oil in my car sacredly thank you
Does disconnecting the battery reset the maintenance light ? I wanted to know before I waste money on a oil change for no reason
Thanks man I have a Lexus is 250 and it worked! My touchscreen is shot so I couldn’t reset it through there 😂
Oh my gawd I've been looking for this lol thank you
Do you know if it’s any different for a 2019 Nissan Altima
Quick at to the point, there’s a sub worthy channel

Hi Chris. What's code 89 or power steering symbol on Chevy Orlando 1.8D stands for and how to get rid of it?

I have 4runner 2006 but no rest knub or trip button in my car. I need your help please
Excellent! Thank you.
Worked like a charm on my Honda element....Thanks !
I had a code for random misfire is cylinder 1 and 3 so I put new spark plugs in but the light is still on do I need to reset it or is the problem not fixed
On my 4runner I found out you preset the odometer to trip A. And the rest of the procedure is the same. Thx
Similarly, I have a ScanGaugeII which I can turn "Check Engine" lights off with - Sometimes. It doesn't always work like when I needed new fuel injectors for a 2000 Caravan, but I did reset the light in my Suburban with it.
Austin Lucas Nice! That is a handy tool to have!
ChrisFix It's also a fuel economy meter and tracker. Real useful thing, I think they cost about $160 new now.
Thank you. That was too easy.
Worked like a charm..thanks my guy
I tried it and it works....Good job

A LeBlanc Exactly! Thanks a lot bud!
Saved me a trip to a mechanic!
Omg Thank you!! I was watching other videos that had me doing Trip A instead of Odometer and it would not work!! I really appreciate this!! ❤️
Does this procedure return the odometer to zero? Thanks.
Robert pendergast no it does not
Haha I wish
Is this also good for Lexus and Scion?
Yes
Thank you so much! Your video was to the point and it worked on the first try!!! Appreciate it!!
This was very helpful! Worked like a charm! Thank you so much!
Thanks I had to do that the other day!
Show us how to fix engine light
Very helpful video. Liked & subscribed. Please keep up the great work when possible.
Thank you!
