daves truly the titan on youtube, but he wont be getting to that magic hundred at this rate, he can only be going gangbusters for so long without new videos. cheers - kev
Stoicism works so well because it's a logical conclusion on how to get the best out of life. Focus on what you can control, prepare yourself for the unexpected, take things in moderation, be aware of how things are harming you, etc.
Nice vid for 9 in the morning, with the couch just chilling there and the tone it reminded me of waking up after staying over at a friends house and people are already sleepily shooting the shit 👌

See Donald Robertson as one of the key modern stoics and connection between CBT. Also CBT is founded on epictetus quote things don't upset us it's our judgement values that do
I really like Stoicism as a concept, but I'm halfway through reading Marcus Aurelius' Meditations right now and he's just way too preachy. Also every 10 pages or so he drops in a little nugget of how men shouldn't be "womanly", which kind of sets me off since I love to cross dress.
It was written as a diary, not for an audience, 2000 years ago by someone raised in a profoundly different culture. I felt the same whenever he rationalised actions through the Roman gods, which I can't relate to. I think its important to set a filter on the information to things that are relevant to now, or the things that can be reframed into being relevant to now. A lot of the time the underlying idea is good, although conveyed through antiquated analogies.
When asked to return to politics by his former co-emperor Maximian, Diocletian responded: "If you could show the cabbage that I planted with my own hands to your emperor, he definitely wouldn't dare suggest that I replace the peace and happiness of this place with the storms of a never-satisfied greed". Reject modernity, embrace cabbage farming.
I still think about the lack of Dave's dinners

God I’m glad to see Jordan on a casting couch.🥵🥵🥵
It's kind of a weird audition, but maybe it's some kind of art p or soft core or some eclectic gay film.
I miss Franklins.

You make so much sense. The Marcus Aurelius quotes were perfect.

Donald is great
i was there live lets go
Look, imma be real. I'm a woman and I think about the damn Roman empire at least 5 times a week since I was 8. That's 25 years.
How COULD we not?

@@DrDrei99 I actually like the "gods" stuff because im a huge mythology nerd
Me favourite stoic is Mary Poppins 😊
Fellas opinion on Gaius Marius?
Well that is only by those who were taught about it. Coming to the party late makes the Romans about as interesting as the French
If not enjoyable at least with purpose
I saw this on the qld election stream
Patrick, this is the second video you've titled why men still think about the Roman empire
Through this meme, I found out that I am, in fact, a man.
Go straight to the OG writings (including in mathematics) and it's easier to get
Do you think I'm racist
Yes
yes
If you weren't, I'd be disappointed.
If you like black people then no.
Turkey exists and has only ever altered its governance, not outright abolished and adopted a foreign entity.
Rome exists today.
I was just thinking about it aswell
Roman?
Smooth legs Jordan
Alan Jones.
see you in canberra
I am the king of blocking.
feet
I think about the 2nd reich
i prefer the sequel tbh
@@dl5498 My family was from Prussia related to royal family but yeah sequel does not get enough credit lots of propoganda tho
Why does Jordan sit like a gay man?
cringecut
the Roman empire literally lined their roads with crucified people who exactly are your heroes, not like power poles like a fence
^This comment totally misses and proves the point of the video^
@BodeyTheV I didn't watch it
Bleh 🕐
