@joshsjettas Thank you so much for this video! There is no way I would have solved this problem on my Cayenne without it!

Thanks for the video. I took my instrument cluster out of my 2005 V8 and used blue cellophane paper around the CCFL bulb to change the color. I found this to be brighter than the blue LED's I tried, and I still retain the dimming function. I also removed the dash speaker, so no more annoying turn indicator clicking. I'm now having an issue with the color MFD at times flashing, or going black. I'm wondering if this is a sign of bad LCD display, or transformers. Any ideas?

i like the cellophane idea, I'd try the transformer first but I'm not 100% sure

By chance have a part number? I can’t see any numbers on the gauges at night. Really need to fix this

Ebay/aliexpress Touareg VOGT Transformer should come up with some options, something like this www.ebay.com/itm/154751414983

Hey. Just wondering if the leds can be replaced for the individual lights. I have a few icons that don't illuminate (main beam warning light) also the little speaker doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions from your experience? Thanks

I havent personally but the LED's will be soldered to the board, Id be curious if its a bad solder joint as usually LED's last forever. The speaker i could see being burnt out though. Few options id consider is 1:Replace it with a used cluster (if you dont mind mileage being out) 2:Use parts from the used cluster to fix yours if you can solder, or 3: if your located in the US look up Clusters by Litke LLC and see if he would be able to source parts/repair (hes well known in the mk4 golf/jetta groups)

If I change that same unit for one in KM/H on the outside, would it work?.

Just the cluster face? I’d imagine as long as the spacing is the same I’d think you’d be alright

Can you change the color ??

You’d need external 12v power for the led strip, and might loose dimming capabilities

Sorry Josh, I don‘t get it, I thought you will change the backlight, from yellow to white. This is what I try at the moment. But what exactly did you do here ? - cause your backlight was working in the beginning 🙈 really want to know. Thanks in advance.

Hey, on this one I wanted to keep it factory as it was someone else’s and didn’t want to make repairs complicated in the future for someone else. The backlight worked for the center screen as well as the needles but the gauge background wasn’t working so you couldn’t see rpm/speed/ect. while driving at night.
If wanting to switch to white get rid of the ccfl bulb that I popped out near the end and stick a LED strip that’s the colour of choice. The issue with that is you’ll need an external 12 volt power for the led, ideally hooked into the cluster dimmer switch.
