They will often mispronounce a place before they get near there and then it seems they check the pronunciation and say it correctly later in the video or the next on, I noticed that a few times, good for them making an effort.
There is a colony of approximately 1400 Eudyptula Minor penguins that live at the breakwater at the end of St Kilda Pier in Port Phillip Bay Melbourne. They arrive at dusk, and you can view them from the top of the breakwater, jumping out of the bay onto the rocks.
I live on the Mornington Penninsula.I was once trying to explain to an American woman, who had been to Melbourne, where my home was.I asked her if she went to Phillip Island to view the penguin parade, because the penninsula is visable from that part of the island. She replied, yes, she went to watch the penguins returning every night of her stay in Melbourne. She said seeing the penguins was one of the highlights of her life.
I'm in the last half of my eighth decade, and I've lived and worked in Europe, Asia, North America, and Australasia. Apart from the joy of seeing an affectionate couple having fun together, I've learned things about my own country I didn't know [e.g. California Redwoods]. It's lovely to see the magic of places off the beaten track. If you've managed my own country very well, I'm looking forward to places I don't know.

Don’t stop doing what you are doing. I’m travelling vicariously thru you guys for both financial and health reasons can no longer travel extensively so you guys are it. You wouldn’t believe how worried I get when I don’t see a video every 3 days. I start freaking out that something has happened and find myself checking YT every hour waiting fir news of you both. I have officially adopted you as grandchildren haha 😂❤
Would so love it if you guys do move here and keep doing this. Just discovered your channel a couple of days ago and binging your Aussie video. Love you both already.
Thanks for coming to Australia, I found your channel when yt suggested to me that you guys came to Adelaide (My home city) seeing you guys genuinely enjoying simple things we take for granted is super wholesome. Have a safe trip!
I'm seeing more of my country than a whole lifetime of living here !! ... much appreciated !! ... thank you !! ... and yes, you now feel like family !!! ... :)
What ever you two do, take a drive from Walhalla, across the top of the mountain range through the Yarra Valley National Park, to Marysville. Spectacular trees, almost 100 metres high everywhere. Spectacular, and world class.
And a word of warning - when you get to Sydney, there are toll roads EVERYWHERE and often you can't avoid them without adding an hour to your journey. The train network in Sydney is outstanding and super cheap, strongly recommend you park your car wherever you're staying and use the train to get around. and Make sure you pick accomodation somewhere near a train station
I really hope you watched the penguin parade, even if you couldn't film it. The penguins waddle up onto the beach and right past the viewing area. It's the cutest thing! Guess you'll be in Melbourne by now. The weather isn't great but there's still lots to do and explore in our wonderful city 😊
You owe it to yourselves to check out some other iconic cafe cakes as you travel. There are always debates about who sells the best Vanilla Slice. Look for a tall, fat slice with heaps of custard, and sheets of flaky pastry. Use a paper bib and forget about dignity - it's worse than eating mangoes for stickiness. A cafe lamington with cream in it is also worth checking out.
I’m an American moving to Australia this winter? so.. their summer? this holiday season?? and haven’t commented yet but been binging your Australia videos in order with my Aussie fiancé the past few days. It broke my heart to hear y’all stressed about the video content at the end because we’ve loved y’all so much and y’all are the main feature!! I’d sit with y’all and watch paint dry. I can’t wait to go back and watch everything previous after the Aussie stuff is over. ❤️
You can see Fairy (Small) Penguins in StKilda, Sth Melbourne, Port Melbourne… We just make the tourists go to Phillip Island. Can’t wait till you explore my city. Melbourne❤️
Didn't see much penguin action...but I saw lots of them on Penguin Island (WA) years ago. However, did get to see Tia eat two cakes and she always makes that a joyous experience.
I hope you went to the 'paid' penguin parade at sunset - it is incredible with up to a couple of thousand penguins surfing in to shore and making their way to their homes. 😍
I grew up close to the Great Ocean Road so that place is home to me. It took me moving to Melbourne to realise how special that place is. You kind of take things for granted as a kid but I just love going back with the great views and the smell of the eucalypts and the waterfalls. It's like a reset. I love your videos and your enthusiam! It's like seeing these places through new eyes. Thank you! I was stressed out driving in Melbourne when I first moved there too :D
When you said touristy it comes to realise that you two guys feel like two Aussies now showing us your road trip. You have grown apon our hearts and love your vids. ❤️
Tia! You literally rode a motorbike through Vietnam....the traffic in Melbourne is nothing 😂 So glad you got to see a penguin. They are the cutest little things.
If you guys want to try / learn to surf wait until you get to the Gold Coast in Queensland. Many places that can teach you / rent boards and it will be warmer as we are heading for Winter now. Even further north depending how far you go. Wouldn't a circumnavigation be fantastic...ending up back in Perth!!!!
It's always such a pleasure watching your vlogs guys so don't sweat it when you don't get the footage you planned ❤️❤️ most of us are watching your adventures from our sometimes mundane windows and we tune in for the funnies and cheyvo's terrible puns 😂.I love Aussie 👋🇳🇿p s I hope you have an amazing time celebrating your family wedding ☺️
If you get the chance, one of my favourite spots to just sit and chill is at the end of the middle Brighton pier. It might not be amazing during winter depending on the weather, but if it’s nice and still, it gives an amazing view of the skyline over the bay
Love watching, and seeing my home through your eyes. Ballarat to Phillip Island is a huge drive! I live out east of Melbourne, in Castlemaine and holiday at Phillip Island once a year. I'm glad you got to see one penguin. And Melbourne traffic is the worst.
Saturation being boosted is not your imagination. Australia and New Zealand are unique in the way the sun lights everything. It produces colours that are significantly brighter and more saturated than elsewhere. I note this as an aviation photographer where the sky pops in Australia/NZ where it fails to do so in other countries. I remember my mother in law in Japan one day saying (in Japan, in Japanese) “isn’t the sky blue today?” and thinking “ほんと? Really?” But for the saturation you pay in UV and sunburn. 4 hours for example on a summery day in the French Rivera is not as punishing on the skin or eyes as 10 minutes of a blue sky winter day on New Zealand’s South Island.
9:37 Yep! There are even penguins in Sydney Harbour! I've seen some darting around under the water in Woolloomooloo, like little birdie torpedos and I know they nest at Manly.
I’ve been to Phillip island and seen the penguins parade so I really hope you guys got to see it. We were there about seven years ago and everyone was filming it then. It was really worth seeing it. They are so cute. 😊
There will be plenty of places in Queensland and northern New South Wales where you can find cheaper surfboard rentals. You’ll just have to wait until you get back.
Unfortunately the “Penguin Parade” has been over commercialised, I first saw it 50 to 60 years ago when we basically sat on the grass above the beach to watch them come ashore, it was wonderful
CAKE FOR BREAKFAS?!!!!! What? Didn't they have any bread?!! LOL. Absolutely love your travel adventures. Don't change a thing. Keep being yourselves even if you don't see what you had planned on seeing. That's part of the adventure of travel.
idk js wanted to share my knowledge 12:51 where you are is called the Nobbies and right near it is seal rock. I’ve been there probably 10 times, I’ve never ever seen a seal there. I have seen penguins but never out and about usually just a bit of it’s back or something js like you saw. I really wish you had into the Main Street because its simply amazing and usually full of life. Anyways thank you for visiting phillip island
I've realy enjoyed all your videos so far and very impressed with your comments. It's a pleasure to see you both happy on your travels. It's unfortunate that you can't spend more time in our country as there as so many places to enjoy and visit. When you return to Melbourne, make sure you go back a see the penquin parade, even if you can't film, Tia will be over to moon to see them, and make sure you get in the area that is at ground level where they come past next to the windows. All the best on your travels.😀😀👍👍
Hey guys, loving the documentary of your travels, especially in my home city Melbourne. You drove passed my work @10.36mins of this video, you can see the diesel generator signage on the building to the left. Thank you for showcasing Australia :)
i've seen the penguin parade at phillip island, fairy penguins are fairly common all the way up to northern nsw. you can often see them swimming in bays and harbours. look for birds that are in the water with their heads out not on the water.
binging your past trip now that you are on your second attempt - another posibility if you are still within SA on your second trip is to try victor harbour - they also have a penguin viewing event of an evening.
Have enjoyed your trip from Perth so much. Thanks for the fun times. You just have to get to Queensland AND Cairns. I'm a born and bred local Cairns bloke but that was almost 83 years ago. *lol* Yep, I am a little biased.
Travelling must be very exhausting at times especially on our long stretches of road with nothing inbetween. Sunshine def lifts the spirits which is missing atm. Have a good rest & safe trip home to the US. 😊❤
If you manage to get to Tasmania at some point then you can have another opportunity to see penguins in Bicheno. I enjoyed them more there than the penguin March in Phillip Island. You can stay at a place in Bicheno called Diamond Island Resort, the penguins are at the end of their property and every night tourists come to visit to see the penguins, you can watch them come up front the beach and then walk around and see the nests but the really awesome thing is that after all the other people have left you can get red torches from reception and you can just go down and watch the penguins walking around in the grass and shrubs. My wife and I were out really late at night and then again early in the morning to see them go back out to sea and it was awesome.
Still a great vlog, even without the penguin parade, which I've attended. It has become expensive but the income is needed for research and protection of the Little Penguins. Phillip Island itself is a beautiful location and worthy of a look. The motor racing circuit on PI is used for one of the rounds of the international Motorcycle Grand Prix - held in October. The riders consider it one of their top three favourite circuits. If Tia got sweaty hands during your drive through then Melbourne, she will definitely not enjoy Sydney traffic. Looking forward to your next episode.
I don’t like tomato sauce on chicken pies but it’s essential on beef ones! You could always tell Aussies you have an allergy if they’re looking at you strange for not having sauce. 😂 Ah Aussie tomato sauce versus American ketchup - the never ending debate! The listed ingredients are virtually identical but there is an argument that American ketchup has more sugar in it, which wouldn’t be surprising.
fish ‘n chips, fish ‘n chips, fish ‘n chips! another opportunity for tomato sauce. it’s the only meal to match the ocean salt air. don’t forget the ice cold beer.
Ballarat was gold mining town , the first gold rush hit Ballarat and started the gold fever that extended all the way to San Francisco and the west coast , yep Arizona and Colorado included
there are lots of lovely drives and country towns inland as well, for instance if you stay in the country long enough to drive from Sydney to Brisbane, it's much nicer to take the inland road via the New England Highway, since you'll actually pass through all the towns and have wonderful scenery - the main highway along the coast is just a very busy highway with no real scenery that bypasses all the towns. you can either travel through the hunter valley wine region, and get on the New England highway from the outset, visiting Tamworth along the way (the Country Music capital of Australia) or drive up the coast to Newcastle, and head inland from there to Gloucester (a gorgeous little town); before taking the extremely scenic and Historic Thunderbolt's way and rejoining the New England Highway at Uralla.
A tip for another time: a "Visitor's Pass" for the toll roads in Melbourne will reduce the traffic pain and it's pretty cheap (although the tollways can still get pretty clogged up at peak times). Great videos! Even as a local, I've been enjoying them :)
Nice roll along. At least you avoided Geelong road, enough to do ones head in. Ballarat is cool. Green is gold. Always good observers of whats around you. Thanks.😊
A little shattered you skipped past Geelong. It's the second biggest city in Victoria and is considered the gateway to the Great Ocean Road. It has a lovely waterfront area in the city centre.

Oh my, I drove the Westgate fwy for 14 years…..traffic is exactly the same…..now I have a 2 minute commute to my new job in my new town in central Queensland
Watched your Australian adventures & You Guys are great! I was hoping you would cover New South Wales as well. That there’s always reason for you come back 😊. Safe travels!
Argh! I missed you coming through Ballarat!! Glad you got to stay a night. Hope you did stay to see the Penguin Parade, even if you couldn't film. It is so worth it ❤
thanks for showing me many places in my own country that i am yet to see , you two are a joy to watch . i assume you won't be able to resist moving here .
@@OnePackWanderers you will need another 50 years here to see the place properly , i'm a couple of hours north of sydney in port stephens , we have a koala sanctuary and we see penguins sometimes, yet another stunning place .
Drop in to St Kilda near the Pier and the breakwater rocks in Melbourne where there is a Penguin colony. Tia you have to see them up close. They are cute little critters. Enjoy your time in Melbourne.
If only you guys had watched the fairy penguins from St Kilda a Melbourne suburb about 6kms south...and you can film them there. Great video by the way as usual. 👍🤗
I never want this series to end, you must continually do loops of Australia :D
Careful that's how people get in trouble for overstaying their visa's, but hopefully they love it in Oz enough to come back again and again
👌❤️
I'd rather see them do other countries
@@FSVR54 says u and who else?
I have to say, loving how Tia says 'Melbun' like an Aussie 😂 . Bravo 👌
I noticed that too.
I think Tia deserves honorary citizenship for that.
They will often mispronounce a place before they get near there and then it seems they check the pronunciation and say it correctly later in the video or the next on, I noticed that a few times, good for them making an effort.
Now just needs to learn how to say 'Mum' instead of 'Mom' 😉
There is a colony of approximately 1400 Eudyptula Minor penguins that live at the breakwater at the end of St Kilda Pier in Port Phillip Bay Melbourne. They arrive at dusk, and you can view them from the top of the breakwater, jumping out of the bay onto the rocks.
Yes... you don't need to go all the way to Phillip Island.... still a chance for Tia to view them on the bay in Melbourne.
It's currently closed due to construction of the new pier.

Would so love it if you guys do move here and keep doing this. Just discovered your channel a couple of days ago and binging your Aussie video. Love you both already.
Assuming that there are no limits to grandparenthood, I'm doing the same. (I have seven already, but there's room for plenty more).
Yeah they are pretty loveable ❤️
I was hoping Tia for scale would be with a fairy penguin
🤣🤣🤣 we all wish

Hey, at least you had the authentic Melbourne experience of being stuck in traffic on the West Gate Bridge!
And a word of warning - when you get to Sydney, there are toll roads EVERYWHERE and often you can't avoid them without adding an hour to your journey. I'm from South Australia and I can honestly say that Apollo Bay is one of the great places in Victoria.
I live in Ballarat, thanks for stopping by! Glad you enjoyed it.
The poor old folk of Geelong! Apparently they lined the streets in their thousands in the cold & rain, just hoping for a glimpse of the Blueberry 😥

Good thing you got to enjoy some warm weather in Melbourne before you left. She's back to her usual cold & wet old self...
Just love you two and how genuine you are. Would love to see you see so much more of our country
There is also a fairy penguin population in Sydney, around the Manly area.

Thanks for taking us with you on your journey. Glad you're enjoying your stay here in Oz. Hope to see more of your vids.

One of my favourite things about travelling is how loosely you can define breakfast - that cake looked delicious as all get out 😍
If you guys want to try / learn to surf wait until you get to the Gold Coast in Queensland. Many places that can teach you / rent boards and it will be warmer as we are heading for Winter now. Even further north depending how far you go. Wouldn't a circumnavigation be fantastic...ending up back in Perth!!!!
You can see Penguins in Tasmania too. We stayed in Bicheno and they came up the beach to nest under our accommodation. Free and close up.

I rode my push bike along that road in 2004 with a lot of other people in " The Great Vic Bike Ride"! It was fabulous.
Great Ocean Road is green all year round… I was there at the height of summer and it was still green!
Glad you enjoyed it ♥️😁🌻
I’ve been to Phillip island and seen the penguins parade so I really hope you guys got to see it. We were there about seven years ago and everyone was filming it then. It was really worth seeing it. They are so cute. 😊

A little shattered you skipped past Geelong. It's the second biggest city in Victoria and is considered the gateway to the Great Ocean Road. It has a lovely waterfront area in the city centre.

Hopefully you did the penguin parade it’s amazing.
The traffic in Melbourne isn't nearly as bad as Sydney, although in Melbourne you have to be careful with trams!
Argh! I missed you coming through Ballarat!! Glad you got to stay a night. Hope you did stay to see the Penguin Parade, even if you couldn't film. It is so worth it ❤

Would love to live in Oz some day, if we can manage it. Totally enamored with this country.
